The next chapter, a lot longer than the last! Thanks to Seliene16, who reviewed the last chapter! I always love to hear your thoughts!
Jay POV
It was the night after we had contacted Dolion, and I was wide awake. My fingers gripped the bedsheets in fear, because something was wrong. Something was terribly, terribly wrong.
I know that Cole had said that Dolion wouldn't take me...but what if I had no choice? What if he was planning something that would make me go with him? Like mind control, or clones, or something?
Maybe I'm just being anxious over nothing. My new team has saved Ninjago countless times, why should this time be any different?
After what felt like hours tossing and turning, I got out of bed. As I walked into the living room, I noticed that the house was too quiet.
Sure, I've only stayed here for a little while, but I've learned a couple of things. For one, Kai snored loudly. All of the time. Even though it seems that Cole would be the one to snore, Kai was the true villain in that regard.
So, if the house was quiet, did that mean something happened? Fear gripped my throat, and I bolted to Kai and Lloyd's room, skidding to a stop by the door. Peering in, I saw Lloyd laying on the ground.
"Lloyd!" I exclaimed, rushing to his side. He had a bit of bruising on his cheek, and I struggled to wake him up, shaking his shoulders.
"Lloyd, wake up! Please!" I screamed.
"Jay, what happened?" I turned around and saw Nya, her hair in a messy bun. In any other circumstance I would have told her she was beautiful, but Lloyd was hurt. That could wait.
"Lloyd, he's hurt. I don't know what happened…"
"Wait, where's Kai?" Nya suddenly asked, and I glanced at Kai's bed.
It was empty.
"Kai!"
If I wasn't scared before, I was scared now. Kai was gone, Lloyd was injured….
Dolion. It had to be Dolion. He was getting his revenge for me refusing to go with him.
Or, was he hoping to….
No, don't think like that, Jay, don't.
Nya pressed the emergency button in Kai and Lloyd's room, waking everyone from their slumber. One by one the others entered the room. Shock was evident on each of their faces.
While Nya explained what happened, Zane made his way over to me, a tight frown on his face. He looked at me with concern, and gripped me on my shoulder. It was then that I realized that I was crying.
"It's going to be okay, Jay, we'll find him."
Zane carefully picked Lloyd up, and I brushed my tears away.
"It was Dolion." I whispered, and everyone turned to me.
"What is it, Jay?" Sensei Wu asked, and I spoke as loud as I could.
"Dolion did this. He wants me to exchange Kai's life for mine. I know it. "
Cole shook his head. "Dolion isn't that smart. He's desperate, and threatening us was just a last-ditch attempt to win. It's probably some stray Skeletons."
"But you don't know Dolion!" I exclaimed, anger erupting from my chest. "Dolion is always thinking one step ahead. He had plans on how you all would die, right down to the last detail! If he wants me, he's going to do whatever he can to do so! That includes hurting Lloyd and taking Kai!"
"Jay!" Clarissa shouted, her hands gripping mine. "Please, just calm down! We're not going to let him hurt you"
"No, I won't calm down! I don't care how badly Dolion hurts me, but as soon as he hurts someone else, someone who's innocent, I won't have it!"
Lightning began sparking off of the clothes that Cole had lent me, the blue streaks dancing across my fingers, but I didn't care. Why couldn't they just believe me?!
"Jay, please, this isn't you, just calm down!" Nya exclaimed, but it only made me more angry.
Pure, raw energy flooded through my veins, and I subconsciously knew that if I didn't calm down I could kill someone, but I didn't care.
"Let Dolion kill me, I don't care! I'd rather be dead while Kai lives! Can't I just have that one thing?!"
Suddenly, there was a sharp feeling at the back of my neck, my knees became weak, and I fell to the ground, the lighting dying around me. My tongue felt like lead, and my head felt foggy. I struggled to keep my eyes open, but it felt as if something was forcing them down. I fell backwards, and something strong caught me. I finally gave in, and let my eyes close.
Nya POV
"You sedated him?" I shouted, and Cole nodded, picking Jay up from where he fell against the master of Earth.
"He became unstable, if he would've stayed awake for a little longer we would've been fried."
"So, we think that Dolion took Kai to get to Jay?" Clarissa asked, hugging her shoulders.
Sensei Wu nodded. "It's very likely. Jay's right, Dolion always has a plan."
Cole sighed. "I'm the one who said he was wrong. This is my fault."
"No, Cole, it's not." I said, walking out of the room. "None of us wanted to believe it, you just spoke what all of us were thinking."
I walked into the kitchen to make myself some coffee, trying to keep my cool even though my brother was missing. He was strong, he'll hold on until we can find him. And Jay isn't leaving this house, so I didn't need to worry about him.
But….Jay seemed way too eager to trade places with Kai.I hoped that he was only being a hero, and nothing else was going on, but I'd have to talk to him later.
Zane walked up behind me, rubbing his eyes. "Lloyd should be fine, just a minor concussion, and Jay's still unconscious."
"Okay." I said, and he looked at me with concern.
" We're going to find Kai, I promise."
"That's not it, Zane. It's Jay I'm worried about."
"I think he feels that he has a duty to do what's right all of the time, given he was trained to do wrong. He just wants to help, Nya, I'm sure that if he felt he had a choice he wouldn't be so self-sacrificial."
"But he does have a choice!"
"Nya," Zane said, holding up his hand to quiet her. " It doesn't matter if he has a choice or not, he has to believe that he has a choice to change his mindset. If he doesn't believe it, there's nothing that can change his mind."
I sighed and stirred my coffee. "I guess you're right."
"Dolion is not getting Jay, and Kai will be home soon." Zane said, trying to be reassuring, but I didn't believe it.
"Why should I believe that?"
Zane gave a smile. "Because we're heroes."
Kai POV
I woke up with a killer headache, and I opened my eyes. I noticed that both my legs and feet were tied to a metal chair, and there were vengstone cuffs around my wrists. I tried to make fire shoot out of my hands, but nothing came.
Stupid vengestone.
I struggled against the bonds, but soon realized that there was no use. I was stuck.
Looking around, I realized that I was in a dark cellar. I could see a trap door that likely led upwards, and chains attached to the wall behind me.
"What sort of monster would have a cellar like this?" I mumbled, until I remembered what happened. Decomposition and Light broke into my room, hit Lloyd on the head, and knocked me out.
So, I was captured by Dolion. Which meant that this was where Jay was kept.
Raw anger filled my heart. This place was horrible! Being locked in here for days was inhuman! When I got out of these chains I'm going to give Dolion a piece of my mind…
"I see you're awake." A voice said, and I looked into the hate-filled eyes of Dolion.
"I am, it was going to happen eventually!" I snapped at him, but all he did was smile.
"What do you want with me?" I asked, and he gave a laugh.
"Did you're dumb team think that I was going to give up after you refused to give me Lightning?"
"His name is Jay."
"Do you think I care?!" He exclaimed, slapping me in the face.
Oh, he was going to pay for that.
"What do you want with him?" I asked, ignoring the pain in my cheek.
"His power can do so much more than what anyone knows, even demolish cities."
"He's not going to help you."
Dolion laughed. "Oh, of course not! He'll have no choice in the matter. The only choice he has is if he is willing to trade spots with you or not. I'm willing to return you to your friends if he becomes my prisoner instead."
"My team will never let him do that!" I shouted, struggling once again. Dolion cocked his head in curiosity.
"Who said that he would obey the team?" He finished, and he confidently turned away from me and left the room, leaving me to my thoughts.
Jay had to listen to the team, right? He couldn't just run away...could he?
Oh, Jay, please don't do what I think you're going to do.
I'm off this week so expect another update soon! I'd love to hear what you guys think of it, please review!
