Years Ago~

A child with baby pink hair wakes up hearing a knock on his bedroom door, "Tenn-nii?"

The child, Nanase Tenn, rubs his eyes and gets off bed, saying as he yawned "Coming,"

He opens the door and sees his younger twin brother, holding his pillow looking scared. Worried, Tenn leads his brother to the bed, "What's wrong, Riku?"

The crimson haired child, Nanase Riku, doesn't reply, keeping his gaze on the floor. "They're fighting again, aren't they?" Tenn says with a sad smile on his face.

"Yes... Mom's crying and yelling again... Dad's also yelling..." Riku says with a shakey voice. Tenn pulls his younger brother into a tight hug and rubs his back, "It's going to be okay. I'm here. Remember what I told you to avoid getting an attack?"

Riku nods. "Deep breaths and think about something that makes you happy..."

After a while, Riku calms down, asleep in his brother's hug. Patting Riku's head, Tenn says with a gentle and kind voice

"It's okay... I'll protect you,"

Next Day~

The twins wake up, hearing their parents argue again.

"MY fault?!"

"Yes! You keep drinking! You use the money that we earn to buy yourself everything YOU want, instead of what the KIDS need!"

"It was YOU who gave birth to them! I never even wanted them in the first place!"

Hearing their father say those, the twins' hearts broke into pieces, tears forming on the corner of Tenn's eyes, hugging his brother and trying to keep himself from letting out a sob while Riku was whimpering, tears falling down his cheeks.

"That's it... GET OUT!"

Hearing their mother scream with a hurt tone, voice cracking made their heart break even more.

"Fine! I WILL!"

They hear a loud bang, then hear soft sobs from their mother, the twins immediately get up and run to where their mother is. "Mom?" Tenn and Riku says with a small voice.

Hearing their small voices, Mrs. Nanase wipes the tears and smiles, facing the twins, "Yes my little angels?"

The twins wails and runs to their mother, giving her a tight hug, hearing her children cry like this made her heart sink and made her swear that she'll make her hus- EX husband regret hurting thei- HER children.

"It's okay. Forget about that man because he was never even your father... He is biologically but... Now he's not," says Mrs. Nanase. (I'll explain)

In the middle of the night, Tenn hears his mother sob, he opens his eyes and gets out of bed, making sure he won't wake his brother up who went to his room to sleep with him."Tenn...nii?" says Riku sleepily.

Tenn pats his brother's head gently and says, "It's nothing. Go to bed,"

Riku was confused but gave a small nod anyway and went back to sleep, Tenn then heads to the dining area where he saw his mother sobbing.

"Mom?" Tenn says worriedly, walking to his mother's side. "Tenn? What are you doing here? You should be sleeping," Mrs. Nanase says, wiping the tears.

"But... I heard you crying so I came to check on you," Tenn says with a worried expression. Mrs. Nanase smiles softly at her oldest son, giving Tenn a kiss on the forehead, "It's okay. I was just..."

"It's about... The business and Riku's hospital bills and medicines, right?" Tenn says, knowing about the situation they're in. The woman hugs her son tightly, "Mom's sorry for giving you a bad childhood, alright?"

Shocked, Tenn exclaims "Don't say that! You're the best mother I could ever wish for!"

"Mom? Tenn-nii?"

They hear Riku's confused and innocent voice, they turn their gazes "Riku?"

"Why are you up? You should be resting!" Tenn scolded. Riku pouts and says "Tenn-nii! I'm not a baby!"

"You're my YOUNGER BROTHER," Tenn emphasized. "But-"

"Alright yout two. Back to bed," says Mrs. Nanase, taking her children to their rooms, placing a kiss on their forehead. "Sleep well little angels,"

Next Day~

The twins stay at the living room, playing while waiting for their mother to finish cooking breakfast.

"No fair! You got the yellow hero!" Riku exclaimed, pouting.Tenn chuckles and said "But I want this one besides... You have the blue one and it's WAY cooler than yellow,"

"REALLY?!" Riku exclaimed, eyes shining. Tenn nods, smiling. As they were playing, Mrs. Nanase exclaims from the dining room, "TIME FOR BREAKFAST!""

After a week~

Riku lays in bed... Hospital bed with a breathing mask to help him breathe. "H-How's my son?" Mrs. Nanase asked, worriedly.

Tenn looking at his brother with a sad expression."He's okay. Don't worry," the doctor replies, making Mrs. Nanase relax a bit.

"But... How are you going to pay the bills," the doctor asked.Tenn hears the question and glanced at the doctor and his mother.

"I don't know but... I'll nake sure to pay them," Mrs. Nanase says, determined."How-""I'll work multiple jobs to pay the bills," Mrs. Nanase says.

For a month Mrs. Nanase worked 5 jobs and yet she wasn't able to earn enough to pay the bills.

"Mom?" Tenn says worriedly, looking at his mother who's lookin pale as a ghost. "I'm fine," she says with a reassuring smile and yet Tenn didn't seem convinced.

"You're not... You're sick," Tenn says and continues "Riku won't be happy,"

"Why won't I be happy?" Riku asked, awake.

"RIKU!" Mrs. Nanase and Tenn exclaimed, running towards him and giving him a gentle hug.

"It's nothing," they both replied in unison, not wanting to stress the younger. "O-Oh..."

Time Skip~ (I'm out of brain cells)

"TENN-NII!""I'm sorry Riku... I have to go,"

"Tenn! What are you doing?!"

"Goodbye, mom, Riku," Tenn says, entering the black car and left a crying and heartbroken Riku.

So... Before their dad left, their surname was a different one but now that their father left, their surname is Nanase...
