Batman didn't even bother to glance at the Thanagarian standing next to his chair. He continued to type away on his computer in the Batcave. Knowing that she wasn't going to leave that easily, Batman finally stopped typing and turned his head towards her, "Give me one good reason why I should."

Shayera sighed before she spoke, "Bruce please, I wouldn't degrade myself to begging for help unless I needed it. Don't you have a little compassion in that heart of yours?"

He fully turned towards her and narrowed his eyes, "I'll say it again. Give me one good reason."

Shayera bit her bottom lip and chewed on it for a moment, "I'm...John and I are...we um...just don't tell anyone yet ok?"

She could just tell Batman was raising an eyebrow under his cowl by the look he was giving her, "Tell anyone what exactly?"

"John and I tried to get married but we were denied because I can't provide proof of identification since I'm not a citizen from anywhere on Earth," she explained as he looked at her rather skeptically. "Now will you please help me?"

"You mean you two are getting eloped?" He dryly asked with a light frown.

"Even though it kind of makes our impending marriage sound somewhat horrible, yes we are or at least we were planning on it."

Shayera had considered it before that they should have told, at the very least, the other founding members that they were getting married but it was rather on the spur of the moment decision. Really it was Shayera's idea though John was more than happy to agree; once he had gotten over the initial shock of her asking him.

There was silence as Shayera watched Batman, who had turned his head back around and just stared at the screen before him. There was a good three minutes of silence between them.

Shayera frowned as she crossed her arms over her chest and began to drum her fingers over her bicep, "Well Bruce?"

"Obtaining an American citizenship can be a long and difficult process," he began to explain. "From the moment you become a permanent resident, it can take three to six years until you can apply from citizenship. That's under normal circumstances though."

"But I lived on Earth for nearly ten years and almost more than half were in the US alone," she countered. "That part of the argument is invalid."

Batman looked up to her slowly, "It's going to be harder for you."

Shayera frowned, "If I were Diana than you would have helped me in a second. I would already be a citizen at this point and married all in the same day."

"The people of Earth don't hate Diana. I hate to break it to you Shayera but, if you haven't noticed, most people simply don't like you. Besides you were never born on Earth so you would need to go through a special process. That's another reason why it'll be harder. They'll also hold the Thanagarian Invasion against you, try to prove that you're entrapping John, and-"

"I would never do that! I love John!" She sounded hurt as though he was accusing her himself.

"We know that but they don't and frankly they don't care. All they know is that you're a Thanagarian and that you were the key factor in helping the Thanagarians invade Earth," he retorted. "Anything you say or claim they'll try to use against you."

Shayera rolled her eyes, "What could I possibly claim or say that can incriminate me?"

"A number of things."

"Like?" The look on her face told Bruce to start listing things or else trouble was going to start. Her patience was nearly run dry at this point and Bruce took notice of that. Shayera already had a limited amount of patience to begin with and he immediately noticed that she seemed a bit more irritable than normal.

"Let's just say you gave a statement for why you want to marry John and you accidentally say something the wrong way. Remember this is completely theoretical but just by the way you worded it made it sound like you threatened or blackmailed John into marrying you."

"That's ridiculous. You know that I-"

"Love John and would never do that, I know," he interrupted her and sighed. "But once again, we know that but they don't and they don't care."

"You could coach me on what to say. I don't need Batman's help with this. I need Bruce Wayne."

"That's illegal. I can't influence what you say in anyway. Even if it is the truth," he exhaled again as he removed his cowl. "What I'm trying to say is that sometimes you muddle your words."

"I do not!" Bruce narrowed his eyes. "Ok sometimes English grammar just escapes me. It's not my fault you stupid humans made a language that is so hard to learn."

"You just proved my point."

"What are you talking about?" She asked as she lightly glared at him.

"In anger you said stupid humans. Do you think that'll help your cause at all? You have to control your temper while in the courtroom like a civilized person."

"Whoa hold on for one second Bruce," Shayera held up her hand. "I have to go in an actual courtroom?"

"What did you expect, a questionnaire sheet to be sent to you?" He sarcastically asked her in a deadpan tone.

"Very funny Bruce but seriously. Do I really have to go to court over this?"

"Yes because, like I said earlier, you have to go through a special process for aliens...extraterrestrials I should say."

"Just start calling me E.T. while you're at it," she muttered with an eyeroll. She then grimaced as she briefly massaged her temples, "I can't get rid of this goddamn headache."

He raised an eyebrow as he watched her for a moment before he stood, "I have to ask you a few personal things."

The Thanagarian exhaled and shrugged, "If you have to."

"Are you entrapping John in anyway?"

Shayera scowled, "I told you no. I would never do something like that. You know that Bruce."

"Whose idea was it to get married?"

"Mine," she responded quietly before going silent for a moment. She averted her gaze as she bit her lip before looking back at him, "Can they use that against me?"

"They might," he answered truthfully. "For my own knowledge, when did you become engaged to Hro?"

"What does that have to do with anything?"

Bruce narrowed his eyes, "Answer the question Shayera."

Shayera sighed, "It wasn't an engagement per se. It's different from Earth engagements. Being promised is pretty much the Thanagarian equivalent to being married. Just Hro and I never had it officially documented you could say."

"Why didn't you hastily marry him before you left for Earth then?"

"I don't know," Shayera was taken back by his sudden question. She averted her gaze as she answered, "I guess because I didn't love him the way that I love John. I tried to explain this once to John that things were different on Thanagar. Why are you asking me this anyway? This has nothing to do with me trying to get citizenship Bruce."

"The more I know about your personal life, the more I can help. Bruce Wayne can't go in there blindly endorsing a person he hardly knows."

"Bruce we've known each other for nearly a decade. I'm sure you remember that whole Catwoman fiasco," Shayera rolled her eyes as she spoke.

"Outside of the Justice League I don't know you personally, besides you being involved with John and clowning around with Wally that is. No one knows anything about your life before coming to Earth and the time you spent in Fate's Tower after the Invasion. We'll discuss those issues later," he said and made no room for her to respond as he continued, "I have one more question and you better answer it truthfully."

Shayera frowned and placed her hands on her hips as she raised an eyebrow at him, "Why wouldn't I?"

"Because this would be the most incriminating piece of evidence that can prove entrapment," he replied. "Are you pregnant?"
