Batman frowned as he sat in the Batcave. He began to type on the Batcomputer before pausing and putting his hand to his chin. He narrowed his eyes as he looked up at the screen, "Computer log case file 3812 for further research. Pamela Isley wasn't in Bombay Hook either. Also add note to R&D project 626, early tests on rocket thrusters for boots has shown success so far. Next tests scheduled are on retractable claws and Batarang launcher. Note that targeted date for the prototype for the new Batsuit to be fully operational within the next five years."

A soft, repetitive beep came from the Batcomputer and Batman sighed in annoyance. He reluctantly reached over and pressed a button on the keyboard. Within seconds Superman's face appeared on the screen before him. "What is it Kent?" He curtly asked.

"Well hello to you too," Superman smirked. "No one has seen you since last week. Terrific even tried to contact you."

Batman's frown deepened, "Last time I checked I told you all that I was a part-timer. I can't always be at your beck and call."

"We know that. We were just worried about you."

Batman raised an eyebrow under his cowl, "We? You can tell Diana that I'm fine and that she doesn't need to worry. If she wants to check up on me than she can do so herself."

"It's not just Diana who was worried Bruce."

"I've been through worse than having a Thanagarian tackle me into a wall. Shayera and John don't need to worry either. Are we done now? I have work to do."

Superman slowly inhaled before exhaling, "Just remember to keep in touch Bruce."

"When I'm not busy I will. Batman out," he cut the commline before Superman could even reply. Batman then frowned as he glanced over his right shoulder, "How long have you been there?"

Shayera smirked, "New Batsuit huh? What's wrong with your current one? Not enough gadgets?"

"Didn't anyone ever tell you it's impolite to just waltz into someone's territory? You seem to have a bad habit of doing so."

Shayera rolled her eyes as she walked towards the console, "Not my fault it's easy to get in here. I know all of the entrances to this place. You do know that right?"

Batman turned his attention back to his computer as he began to type, "Seems that I'll need to Thanagarian-proof my entrances. Why are you here Shayera? I know you aren't paying a social call for a scintillating conversation."

"Well John was sent on a League mission a few hours ago and I'm sure you're well aware I've been sidelined indefinitely," Shayera sat against the console. "I decided to just stop by and see my grumpy friend. No one has seen or heard from you in a week Bruce."

Batman narrowed his eyes as he continued to type, "I haven't heard from Rachel yet if that's the real reason you're here. When I hear from her then I'll let you know."

"I'm not here about that," Shayera insisted. Batman turned to her and gave her an incredulous look. "Okay so it was partially about that. It's more um," Shayera scratched the back of her neck as she looked away and sighed. "I wanted to apologize about last week Bruce. I lost my temper and I was already on edge so it didn't make it any better. I know you were only looking out for me."

Batman silently stared at her for a moment before turning his attention back to his computer. After typing in silence for a full minute he finally replied, "No need to apologize. I would have done the same. It was a rather low blow in hindsight, even if it did need to be done. You obviously weren't going to do it anytime soon."

"Like ripping off a band aid or at least that's how Wally described it," Shayera lightly sighed. "That speeding nitwit accidentally let it slip in the cafeteria that I'm pregnant. Everyone in the Justice League knows about it now."

"That was bound to happen, especially with the Flash around," Batman retorted. "Not like you could have kept it a secret forever anyway. Eventually it would become blatantly obvious that you're pregnant."

Shayera shrugged, "I know I should have expected something like this to happen. Just I rather people found out more tactfully I guess."

"Being tactful isn't your forte Shayera. I can't envision you being any less blunt about it than I was had it been you who told John and the others instead."

She gave him an unamused look, "Point taken, also I wanted to just say that you and Alfred were right from the very beginning. I shouldn't have been on active duty at all."

"Not that I don't doubt your fighting capabilities but I rather we don't take risks like that within the League. You're also setting a precedent right now within the League. Even then, as a founder, you need to set an example for the others to follow. I'm going to be rather blunt about this. You haven't been pulling your weight as a leader. Once you're off maternity leave, you need to step it up. I'm going to have the same talk with the Flash."

Shayera nodded, "I get the point and I know that. I've been worried how the others view me rather than just ignoring it and just instructing them like I should. Wally on the other hand, good luck with that," she softly chuckled. "I'm ironically the first League pregnancy. If the others see me fighting than they'll think it's okay for them to do the same if they wind up in the same boat. Some of them don't even have superpowers to protect themselves."

"I'm guessing you aren't going to at least reconsider the crowd control aspect?" Batman asked her.

"Not a chance, at least for now," she stated as she shook her head. "We have a plan in place for a few months down the road."

Batman glanced at her and raised an eyebrow, "Which entails?"

"J'onn is going to shapeshift into me from time to time to keep up appearances that I'm active in the League. That way it's not suspicious if I drop off of the face of the Earth for over a year and then suddenly reappear. That would be too obvious."

"Your idea I assume?"

Shayera gave him a cocky grin as she placed her hands on her hips, "Did you need to ask?"

Batman smirked in response, "Impressive though that's to be expected from you. This is why we need you as a leader."

"I have my moments." Shayera was then silent for a few moments before she spoke again, "Bruce I meant to ask last time I was here but I didn't want to say anything in front of Alfred. I didn't want to upset him since I know this is still a touchy subject. How has Tim been doing?"

Batman's eyes narrowed as he looked at the screen before him and frowned, "In college and he's fine."

"Bruce I can understand your gui-" Shayera was then cutoff.

"What happened is in the past," he gruffly said with a light scowl. He slowly looked over at her and glared, "Don't bring it up again."

Shayera merely sighed. She knew he was fundamentally right and nothing could change what had happened six years ago. What the Joker had done ruined Robin. Even if Bruce hadn't forbade him from donning the costume again, Shayera didn't know how Tim would have went back to crime fighting even with all of the therapy he had been through. She couldn't imagine anyone going through that much trauma and still be able to fight crime afterwards.

She could still remember the night that Barbara had hacked into the Justice League commlines to get ahold of her. Batgirl had stated that she was her next lifeline. Given her friendship with the teen, Shayera had readily agreed to help Batgirl. She had used all of her tracking skills to search Gotham but to no avail. Shayera could also vividly remember when Batman had told her what had happened to Tim. She would have been lying if she said she hadn't been devastated by the news. Shayera had even planned on killing the Joker halfway through her conversation with Batman and she was admittedly a bit disappointed that she would never be able to make the Joker suffer for what he had done.

Shayera opened her mouth to speak again but her commlink suddenly went off, "Yeah Wally? No I'm in Gotham why? He did what!?"

John groaned as he glared at the Flash, "Did you really have to call Shayera on her commlink over this? It's just a dislocated shoulder."

Wally shrugged, "What? She should know that you got hurt."

"It's not like she wouldn't see my arm in a sling Wally," John said to him in an aggravated tone. "Plus I don't need Shayera getting stressed. She's got enough on her plate as it is. Don't call her about this kind of stuff again."

The speedster lightly frowned, "Well excuse me Cranky McGee but what if it was worse than a dislocated shoulder? What if you ended up getting killed instead?"

John groaned in frustration as he then muttered, "Is this how I sounded with Shayera?"

"I mean if we're keeping Shayera at home or in either the Watchtower or Metro Tower most of the time than maybe you shouldn't be out there as much either," Wally said to him. "You don't think Shayera isn't going to worry about you at all when you're out there?"

John raised an eyebrow, "I'm not the one who's pregnant. Besides, Shayera knows it'll take a lot more than this to take me down."

"Doesn't matter," Wally shook his head. "I don't want something happening to you and Shayera is left alone with a kid she has to raise on her own. It's like you said before, Shayera can be loving and all that good stuff but she can't do it on her own. That's why you're supposed to be there with her and you can't do that if you're dead."

John couldn't believe how mature Wally was actually sounding. Though given his relationship with both him and Shayera, it didn't surprise him that Wally had thought through all of this already.

Wally then sighed, "Look if something ever did happen to you I'm going to help Shayera out however I can but I don't have a clue on what to do with a kid, let alone a baby. Hell I still act like a big kid half the time."

"Half the time?" John rhetorically asked with a smirk.

Wally gave him an unamused look, "Very funny GL but I'm trying to be serious here."

"I know you are and I appreciate everything you said and offered Wally but nothing is going to happen. Shayera would kill me herself if I let something happen."

"Lantern!" Shayera yelled as she stormed into the room.

"Uh good luck with her," Wally quickly said to John before racing out of the room.

Shayera scowled as she socked him on the right shoulder and John immediately yelped in pain, "Shayera! I just dislocated that shoulder!"

"Good I hope it hurt!" She snapped at him before deeply exhaling. "I thought I was going to have a heart attack when Wally said you got injured. My stomach is still turning."

"That's probably the morning sickness," John quipped before hissing in pain as Shayera punched him again on his injured shoulder.

"Don't you dare ever scare me like that again."

John winced as he rubbed his shoulder, "I'm not the one who called you. Blame Wally for that."

Shayera crossed her arms over her chest and glared at him, "I'm blaming you for getting injured."

"It's not like I anticipated or planned on this happening Shayera."

"You have that fancy ring that's supposed to be able to protect you from anything," she gestured towards the power ring. "You shouldn't be getting these types of injuries unless you're being careless. You're not a brawler like me, Clark, or Diana."

"I wasn't being careless," John lightly frowned. "It just happened. That's what happens when your profession is being a superhero."

Shayera sighed, "I understand that but I just rather you try to be more careful. The very last thing I want is for you to get killed."

John let out an exasperated sigh as he rolled his eyes, "First Wally now you."

"Wally?" Shayera tilted her head slightly. "What did Wally say?"

"That he doesn't want to see me get killed and leave you behind to raise our kid on your own," he replied. "That and he thinks since you're off active duty than I should reduce my own time on active duty too."

"That's not fair to you though. I have a reason not to be," Shayera went silent for moment before she hugged him. "Just be careful John. I can't have something happen to you."

John let out a sigh as he stood and wrapped his one good arm around her, "Nothing is going to happen to me Shay. I promise you that."

Shayera let go of him and softly smiled. She then grabbed his hand and started pulling him towards the door, "Good now come on."

John raised an eyebrow as he let her drag him out into the hallway, "And where are we headed to?"

Shayera looked over her shoulder at him and smirked, "I want to go crack Wally over the head for calling me."
