"I uh...can you not um...why are you..." Shayera stammered as she was surrounded by three female Leaguers. She awkwardly shifted in her seat but realized that they had her cornered in the cafeteria. She had been sitting in the very corner of the room, like always, and had been enjoying a quiet and peaceful lunch by herself. Her tranquility had been abruptly disrupted the second Stargirl, Ice, and Fire bustled into the cafeteria and beelined straight towards her.

Shayera was not used to being fawned over by others. Over the years, she had gotten used to people either openly scorning her or just barely tolerating her. Never before had she been fawned over like this. She quickly found that she didn't like it either. It was one thing when she would indulge in the rare occasion of letting John pamper her but they weren't John and she didn't want them near her like this. She didn't like feeling entrapped. She didn't like feeling surrounded.

"I want to have babysitting duty," Stargirl said nearly breathlessly as she clasped her hands together. Shayera had to resist the urge to roll her eyes at Courtney's overdramatic behavior. "I love babies. They're so adorable!"

Fire suddenly grabbed Shayera's hand, causing the Thanagarian to lightly jump at the contact, "You have to let us throw you a baby shower at the very least."

Shayera averted her gaze as she wriggled her hand out of Beatriz's grasp, "I um...that's not necessary. I don't even know what that this."

"Nonsense," Ice shook her head. "It's customary to have one. Besides it won't be for quite a while anyways. We'll gladly explain it to you."

Black Canary lightly chuckled from her seat at the table adjacent to theirs, "Maybe you guys should go a little easy on Shayera. I don't think warriors are into the whole being doted on thing."

"Yeah you might end up with that mace of hers up your asses if you aren't careful," Green Arrow snickered.

"Oliver behave!" Dinah jokingly chastised him as she lightly backhanded his arm. She then shook her head and turned towards Shayera, "You sure you really want to deal with married life? Let me tell you, this is what you have to look forward to. Though GL is more mature than Ollie so you do have that in your favor already."

Oliver smirked as he threw his arm over Dinah's shoulder, "Come on Pretty Bird, you know you love it."

She in turn lightly rolled her eyes, "Like an arrow in my side."

Shayera could hear the teasing sarcasm in Dinah's tone. The Thanagarian had heard others mention that the two were still in the 'honeymoon phase' of their marriage. Shayera wasn't quite sure what this meant exactly and how it applied specifically to Earth marriages. She had been meaning to ask John about this. She also didn't know what this 'honeymoon' thing was that some were beginning to ask her about.

"So are you hoping for a boy or girl?" Fire suddenly asked Shayera, pulling her from her train of thought.

"Um well I um," Shayera looked away and bit her lip. Even with knowing of Rex's existence, there was this little voice in the back of her mind that was telling her that it wasn't him. Shayera couldn't explain what it was. Though to her it didn't really matter; she just wanted to have a child of her own. She shrugged as she looked back at the pyrokinetic next to her, "I don't really care either way honestly. I mean I have this gut feeling though. I can't explain it really."

"A gut feeling about what?" Stargirl asked her.

Shayera paused for a moment before replying with a small smirk, "Call me crazy but I'm beyond certain that it's a girl."

"That right there is mother's intuition," Tora said to her as Beatriz nodded.

Shayera tilted her head slightly and raised an eyebrow in curiosity, "Mother's intuition? What is that exactly?"

"People say it's a sixth sense that mothers get," Dinah replied. "Super strong gut feelings about their kids and that kind of stuff."

"And all mothers get this?" Shayera asked.

"I guess," Dinah shrugged. "I mean everyone has their own gut feelings about stuff. Just some people think mothers have stronger senses of intuition over others."

Green Arrow rolled his eyes as he stood to leave, "I'm out with all of the girly-talk. Hit me up if you want to talk baseball or something not as girly as this."

"I'll see you at home Ollie," Dinah called to him. Oliver looked over his shoulder at her and winked in response.

Shayera drowned out the chatter from the Leaguers around her as she folded her hands together and rested her chin on top of them. She fought back the small smile that threatened to spread on her lips and instead kept her expression neutral. Perhaps her having this mother's intuition was a sign that she wasn't going to be as terrible of a mother as she initially thought.

Shayera knew there was still a lot she had to learn about the aspects of this whole motherhood thing. Especially on how humans went about it compared to Thanagarians. Though she also knew her resources were limited within the Justice League itself. None of the League members had children themselves, besides some who had nieces or nephews. Even right now the four female League members before her had no experience in childrearing. Maybe Stargirl had more experience with babysitting throughout her teenage years but that still wasn't enough that Shayera was going to go to her for any type of advice. Diana would be able to offer zero help on the subject. Mari, while being a source of great moral support, would also be next to no help.

Shayera sighed quietly to herself as she lightly frowned. Whenever she thought of this she could feel her anxiety rise. She was going to go into this blind and she was never one to like to go into any situation without being prepared in some form. Especially not something like this. There were no do-overs to being a parent. She wasn't just effecting herself anymore with her actions and decisions. She could potentially screw this child up for life. She wouldn't be able to forgive herself if she did so.

Suddenly Stargirl waved her hand in front of Shayera's eyes, "Hello! Earth to Shayera!"

Shayera lightly shook her head and turned towards the younger girl, "Sorry, I spaced out. What is it?"

"Fire was asking how far along are you," Stargirl said to her.

"Um," Shayera looked away momentarily as she thought. "It's been three weeks since I found out so that's eight weeks now. I don't get why everyone is asking me that."

"Because people want to know when to expect to see a cute little baby around here," Stargirl said to her. "Plus that way we also know when we can have this baby shower."

"Look, I don't know what a baby shower is but I don't think I want one. Besides I'm not human so your timeline is going to be a little off. Thanagarian pregnancies last longer than human ones," Shayera leaned back in her seat and crossed her arms over her chest. "I just don't get why everyone wants to talk about a baby that isn't even born yet. Aren't you supposed to marvel over a baby after it's been born?"

"Absolutely not!" Ice disagreed. "Anytime is a good time to marvel over a baby."

Shayera sighed as she lightly shook her head. There were still some things that confused her about humans. She then paused as a small feeling of dread pooled within her stomach. Perhaps that was her Thanagarian indifference shining through. Was she really going to be like any other female Thanagarian despite her best efforts not to be? Shayera knew that, while she behaved more human each and every day, she was still a full-blooded Thanagarian. She had a Thanagarian mindset and Thanagarian instincts.

Shayera felt a finger repeatedly poke her shoulder and she ended up lightly scowling. She turned to see Fire poking her with a small smile. Seeing she got her attention, Fire stopped and brightly smiled, "Good I have your attention again."

Shayera rolled her eyes, "What for?"

"Did you think of a name yet?"

Shayera paused and she merely blinked in response. "Isn't that too soon to be doing something like that?" She finally asked with a confused look. "Isn't the whole cliché to wait until later on in the pregnancy."

"Not at all, it's never too early," Fire waved her off and Shayera found herself rolling her eyes once more.

Shayera sighed, "I mean we know what we're going to call the kid if it's a boy so I guess that leaves only girl names. I know it won't be anything remotely Thanagarian."

"You two already chose?" Ice asked her.

"Not exactly," she slowly replied as she averted her gaze. "More like John already has a name he wants to use and I'm not against it."

"That means you get to choose if it's a girl," Dinah smirked at her. "It's only fair."

Shayera swallowed as she looked down at her lap. She hadn't considered that naming the child was going to fall onto her, "I...I guess it does."

She then felt a gust of wind blow behind her despite being indoors. The Thanagarian immediately knew who had just run up.

"Hey guys, did I miss anything?" The Flash asked as he sat at the table with them, holding an overloaded tray of food as well as having a plastic bag looped around his wrist.

"Oh not much, we were just getting started," Stargirl said to him and Shayera let out a defeated groan.

"Ugh man is it brutal in there," Green Arrow muttered to himself as he waked along the halls of the Watchtower.

"What's so brutal?" He heard a baritone voice ask. Ollie turned around to see John giving him an amused look. "Get your ass kicked by Dinah again in the training room?"

Ollie lightly snorted back a chuckle, "As if John, more like they got your fiancée surrounded and forcing her to talk about girly stuff."

John raised an eyebrow at that, "Who's got Shayera surrounded and what exactly are they talking about?"

"Well Stargirl, Fire, and Ice started it all. Those three are vying for babysitting roles and wanting to throw baby showers already. To me I think they're also confusing Shayera. She looked like a lost puppy. I'm guessing they didn't have baby showers on her planet. I also don't think she likes all of the attention she's getting."

John let out a sigh and muttered, "Great just what she needed."

Ollie sympathetically patted him on the shoulder, "Good luck to you two. This is only the beginning."

Shayera glared at the book laying on the table in front of her and then up to Wally, "I do not want a book to tell me how to be a mother."

"What?" Flash gave her a small grin as he then shoveled a fork full of pasta into his mouth. "Plenty of mothers read those. Besides I got you more than just one so that you can have different perspectives."

"I can see that," she curtly replied as she disdainfully glanced at the small pile of books that Wally had brought with him.

"It's not like there's anyone up here you could really ask and you don't know any people that aren't in the Justice League," Wally casually stated, failing to notice the growing scowl on the Thanagarian's face. "Besides, the people that write those books have to know at least something about babies."

Shayera lightly growled through her clenched teeth, "Wally, I swear, if you don't-"

"This one has names and I know you'll need one of these eventually," Wally mentioned with his mouth full. He picked up one of the thicker books. "It even has the meanings of the names too. I thought that was pretty useful since you probably don't know the meanings of human names and stuff. You probably know Thanagarian names and what they mean."

Shayera paused for a moment before frowning and holding her hand out, "Let me see that."

Wally smirked as he handed over the book and grabbed a hotdog from his tray, "Told you I got you something that you could use."

She made a small sound of agreeance as she skimmed through the book, "This will be moderately helpful."

"Oh there's this one," Wally grabbed another book and held it up. "Tells you what to expect when pregnant."

Shayera let out an exasperated sigh as she reached over and took a French fry from his tray, "You're really pushing your luck Wally."

"Well, well Bruce," Rachel slowly clapped as she descended the steps of the Batcave. "I have to say that I'm impressed."

Batman slowly spun his chair around as he faced her. He narrowed his eyes and lightly frowned, "What is it Rachel?"

"Whatever you did worked. How did you get the judges to agree to let Hawkgirl have her citizenship? All she needs to do is pass a civics test and she's scotch free. So what's your secret?"

"Judge McCillion and Vicki Vale were an item," he replied as he turned his chair back around. He folded his hands together as he looked at the computer screen before him for a moment, "That's how she got the information that she published. I simply told them what would happen if they didn't cooperate."

"You threatened them," Rachel said with an unamused look "I'm somewhat disappointed in you Bruce."

"Get in line," he curtly retorted.

"Typical," Rachel shook her head. "So who's going to tell her? Though I do have some concerns over the civics test."

Batman was silent for a moment before he nodded, "She doesn't know much of anything related to US history or even the Constitution. She'll need a crash course. How long does she have?"

She crossed her arms over her chest and sighed, "One week, fifty questions, think she can do it?"

"Shayera's very intelligent but even this may prove to be a challenge even for her," Batman then glanced at her and gave her the slightest of smirks. "Feel like giving a Thanagarian some history lessons?"

Rachel merely groaned and rolled her eyes.
