The clouds were dark overhead, there was a chill in the air that made Wanda shiver as she lay on the soft grass. The firmness on the ground below her made her feel like she was tethered to something and right now she needed it. She was having a bad day, flashes of her life kept on invading her mind and she didn't know why but they made her feel panicked.
She had flashes of the room she was held in, in Sokovia, where she was taught to be strong, to follow orders, to be the perfect weapon. Hydra only wanted her for one thing and one thing only. To bring destruction. She was taught to fight, to cheat, to win, to bring honour to Hydra. She was taught that losing was never an option and when she did lose, she was taught to never let it happen again.
When Wanda finally escaped from everything, she was drained. She had no more fight left in her and all she wanted to do was rest. Her dreams had been shattered, she felt broken. She tried to change everything about her life and that all came crumbling down around her. It was all an illusion and heart still felt like it was breaking. She felt as if she had lost everything, everyone, and for a while there she did.
When Wanda was at her lowest, she found Darcy. Darcy was there for her, helped her, encouraged her, reminded her not to give up, and most of all loved her for who she was. Darcy reminded her that even though she felt beaten and defeated, she was there for her, through it all and that she knew Wanda could make it through anything if she tried.
Wanda had thought she had heard it all before, she had seen it all before. When she was younger, she never felt affected by her actions, she was always the last one standing and Hydra always praised her for that. They told her she was strong and making her country proud. Now as she felt the first drop of rain falling from the sky, she thought about how strange her life had ended up turning out.
Wanda used to think about going back home to Sokovia, she wanted to finally be able to appreciate the place she was born in, she wanted to drive through the streets and appreciate the beauty of her home. But now, Sokovia was no more, she saw the earth move, she saw her home being destroyed, she saw everything burnt down to the ground.
Wiping the light rain from her face, Wanda knew that she had Darcy now. Darcy was a constant and she was thankful for that every day. Darcy was the one who kept on telling her not to give up and would remind her how loved she was. She knew that with Darcy they didn't really need anything except for one another. Her feelings for Darcy were strong and she knew that with Darcy she belonged.
Getting up from the ground, Wanda took a deep breath in and exhaled before she entered the house. Inside was warm and Darcy was sitting on the couch by the fire reading a book. Flopping down next to Darcy, Wanda rested her head on Darcy's shoulder and relaxed. Wanda knew that with Darcy that she wouldn't have to worry as much, it would be alright, and even if things were to get hard, Wanda always had Darcy to fall back on, to hold her. As long as she and Darcy were together should would never give up.
Wanda didn't feel like she was drowning anymore, she could clearly remember a time where she stood on the bridge over the river and looked into the water, wanting it to wash her away. That was the day she felt hopeless, all hope had gone, and if it wasn't for Darcy, she didn't know what she would have done. It only took four words, and those four words she would always hold close to her.
Please, don't give up.
