"Hey Soul, I'm going to bed." the girl with pigtails said from outside of Soul Evans locked bedroom door in the flat they shared together. Soul was sitting on his queen size mattress in his extremely messy room as he lifted a tightly rolled joint to his lips, allowing the smoke to enter his body fast as he held the smoke in his lungs. The feeling of euphoria that weed gave Soul was indescribable; nearly every second he spent high felt wonderful. A smirk grew on his face as he released the smoke from his lungs into the air around him. "Okay Maka. Goodnight!" He yelled as he took a look at his smartphone on the mattress; five missed messages from Black Star.

10:38 PM

Black Star: Hey dude, do you want to hang out?

10:40 PM

Black Star: Soul

10:43 PM

Black Star: Dude answer me

10:46 PM

Black Star: We can smoke up if you want

10:51 PM

Black Star: I have some shit I wanna talk about

Soul looked at the time on his phone; 10:55 PM. It wasn't too late to hang out with Black Star; Maka went to bed early too so they could do whatever they wanted. The white haired boy texted back the erratic Black Star inviting him over to the shared flat of Maka and Soul.

10:56 PM

Black Star: Hell yeah dude! I'll be right over.

Black Star always seemed to make Soul's mood get better no matter what; that would be especially helpful today. Lately Soul had been struggling a lot mentally; he felt like nothing but a tool for other people to use whenever they wanted. Soul assumed that was a normal feeling that all weapons to meisters felt and, after talking to Tsubaki, he came to the conclusion that this feeling was pretty common. Soul was just unlucky that he couldn't get over the feeling like other weapons could; other weapons, like Liz or Patty or Tsubaki, were able to feel content in their weapon-hood. They were used to their lives and content with it all; Soul just didn't feel the same way. Luckily for Soul, however, he had a best friend that knew exactly what to do and say to make him feel better; Black Star. Black Star was like Soul in a lot of ways; they enjoyed the same music, they both liked to smoke weed, and they were both just all around chill people. Soul was convinced that they were meant to be best friends… or maybe even more.

Soul's sexuality had never been something he felt he needed to label, but recently he had been experimenting with a few. Pansexual was the label he felt went best with who he was; he didn't care about someones gender or sex at all. All he cared about was people's personalities.. He had been attracted to people of all genders before and he didn't have a preference for one gender over another. Soul was like any other person his age; he had crushes and he had needs like everyone else. He just didn't know how to speak up on it all.

As Soul waited for Black Star to show up to the apartment he went through his closet trying to find more weed; as he opened the closet door he caught a glimpse of himself in the closet mirror for the first time in a long time.

Soul avoided looking at himself in the mirror most days; it was a combination of his extreme self-consciousness and his raging body dysmorphia. Soul Evan's had a lot of things wrong with him that he was keeping inside; eating disorders and mental disorders galore, the young weapon was an interesting person to be close to. His most prevalent issues were his anorexia nervosa and his bipolar disorder; those were the ones he felt affected him the most. Soul struggled heavily with his bipolar disorder but the weed helped a lot; Soul was too embarrassed to talk to Stein about his issues, even though talking to Stein would mean getting medications and therapy for his disorders. He seemed to think that the weed helped enough. Soul stared at his reflection blankly in the mirror; he had dark circles under his eyes and his collarbones ever so slightly showed through his cheeks. The clothing he was wearing, a pair of maroon sweatpants with a brown sweatshirt, were so baggy on him yet Soul still felt huge. He hadn't eaten all day but he didn't even feel a twinge of hunger; he just felt numb about it all.

Soul stopped looking at himself in the mirror as he picked up a large bag of marijuana and a small green bong from the ground of the closet; Soul always kept a surplus of weed on him at all times and tonight was no exception, this bag containing over half an ounce of it. He smelled the bag and smiled at the scent of the weed; "Black Star is going to fucking love this." he giggled as he laid down on his mattress and checked Black Stars location on his phone. Black Star was right outside; the second Soul saw this he got a phone call from the blue haired boy.

"Soul, dude, I'm here and I have something for us to do tonight!" Black Star said excitedly into the phone; Soul could tell he was saying this with a giant smile on his face. "Shit, dude, that's cool. The doors unlocked so just come in. I'm in my room." Soul said, slightly chuckling at the thought of what Black Star could've brought for them to do. Black Star hung up and, a minute later, entered Soul's messy room. He closed the door fast and started talking immediately; "Dude, I am so excited for this. I just got it today and I think you're going to love it." Black Star said, smiling wide and digging his hands into his pockets looking for something. "What is it?" Soul said, picking up the bong from the ground next to his bed for Black Star to use. Black Star shook his head as he brought out a small square of a thick paper, in the design of Lord Death's face; "Acid, Soul. Have you ever done it?" Black Star said with a smile on his face. Soul shook his head as Black Star sat down on the mattress with him. "I've only done it a couple times but, bro, it's amazing. It really opens your mind to everything. I know you've been dealing with some shit and I think it might help so… Do you wanna do it?" Black Star said, handing the square to the young scythe. "Sure. How much is it though? I kinda spent most of my money on weed." Soul said, pointing at the big bag of green plants on the bed. "Don't even worry about it. It's on me this time." Black Star said as Soul picked up the designed square of paper. The square had about 10 tabs of acid on it that you could cut apart, so Black Star cut both him and Soul a piece. They both took it at the same time, allowing it to dissolve in their mouth fully as they listened to rock music together in the weapons room.

Soul was a bit high from the weed he smoked earlier but it had mostly gone away; the acid hadn't kicked in yet so Soul was feeling mostly sober. That was a feeling Soul hated more than anything, as without the influence of drugs he felt the most damaged he ever felt. Soul looked at his reflection in a mirror on the wall and just stared at himself blank mindedly before Black Star spoke up; "Dude, let's go on a walk or something. This room is boring as hell." Soul looked up at the weapon master in front of him and just gave a nod. Both of the boys got up from the mattress and went outside together; the second they left the door, Black Star pulled out a pack of cigarettes and offered the weapon one.

"You always seem to know what to do to make my night better, man." Soul said as a smile grew on his face, grabbing the cigarette from Black Star's hand and putting it to his lips. "I just know what makes you happy, I guess. We've been friends for so long I just kind of… know?" Black Star said, a big smile on his face as the two boys walked down the sidewalk together. Soul and Maka lived in a well populated area but, tonight, it was quiet; not a single other person was walking the sidewalk with the two boys, allowing them to feel like they had some level of privacy to say and do whatever they wanted.

Suddenly, as the boys walked down the sidewalk, Soul started to feel a certain way. His vision became focused on a tree in the distance, every second he spent looking at the tree the more detail began to show on it. It felt as if his vision was zooming inward and outward on the subject of his vision as a feeling grew in Soul's head. This feeling of lightheadedness as his worries seemed to go away with the drug's effects was both intense and subtle at the same time. Soul looked over to his friends, his vision focusing on every detail of the blue haired boy's face. Every detail was so… intricate and beautiful to Soul. He could look at his friend all night and never get tired of it. Black Star was smiling wide as they walked down the sidewalk, the drugs having taken effect on him far before it had for Soul.

This high was a wonderful one for Soul; his worries went away as the acid travelled throughout his system. He didn't care about his weight, his looks, or anything else; all he cared about as they walked down the sidewalk was his best friend.

"Let's sit down for a while, man. It was a mistake to come out; I'm tired as hell." Black Star said, slurring his words a bit as the high affected him more and more. Soul just smiled and nodded as the boys walked into an empty alley a few blocks from the apartment building and sat down on the ground. The alley was dimly lit and empty as the boys sat down next to each other on the stone ground. Soul threw his cigarette butt on the ground as the taller boy exhaled the nicotine flavored smoke from his lungs. "So, what did you want to talk about dude?" Soul said, looking at the boy in front of him as he remembered their texts from earlier. "Oh, shit, yeah.. I almost forgot about that." Black Star mumbled as he looked at the white haired boy beside him. "I've just been worried about you, man. You look… well, you look like you're dying most of the time. You're the size of a fucking twig, man, and your face looks like you haven't slept in weeks. What's up?" Black Star said in a serious tone; this tone wasn't something anyone was used to with Black Star, as Black Star tended to be an erratic, selfish person. The only people he showed his nice self to were Soul, Tsubaki, and Maka; no one else, really.

Soul looked down at the ground as his vision focused on the dirt on the stones below him; "Shit… He's noticed all of this? This isn't good…" Soul thought to himself. "I've just been struggling a lot recently, man. Weeds helping but it still sucks. I've just got some shit going on." Soul said quietly, as if he wished Black Star wouldn't hear his voice. "Yeah, I get that… If you ever wanna talk about anything, I'm here. We can always smoke up and talk, you know what right?" Black Star said as he put his hand on Soul's shoulder. The feeling of Black Star's hand on him made his high self shiver; both the physical and emotional feeling of it made Soul's mind wander. Soul nodded as he got up from the cold ground below them; Black Star did the same.

"Let's go back to my place, dude. It's cold as a witches tit out here. We can hang out and just sleep there." Soul said, smiling at his best friend in front of him. Black Star agreed immediately and they both walked back to the small shared apartment of Maka and Soul. That night was going to get a lot more interesting…
