Nothing to do...so I came up with this...
A young red haired little boy stood on his bed, looking out of the window.
It was the night of Christmas eve.
The streets were filled with festive cheer; everyone wore smiles on their faces.
Children received presents from adults, beaming as they hugged their presents.
Adults shook hands and wished each other 'Merry Christmas', sometimes exchanging presents as well.
Colored lights and beautiful decorations hung on lampposts, outside and in everyone's houses.
Things, however, went as usual in the abbey. The only difference was the one-hour break, when staff from the BBA came for a visit.
Nobody breathed a word about Christmas, seeing what happened to the last child who did.
"I wonder what Christmas is like." He whispered to himself.
"Hey, Tala." The voice of a certain Hiwatari echoed in the room.
"Hey, Kai." Tala greeted.
Kai joined him, looking out of the window.
"Do you know, Kai, what Christmas is like?" Tala asked softly, taking care that no one but Kai heard him.
After some time, Kai replied.
"Have you ever heard of Santa Claus?"
"No."
"Well, Santa Claus is a nice old man. He gives out presents to all the good children in the world."
"Why doesn't he bring us any presents?"
"Maybe he's busy…"
After a minute of silence or so, Kai spoke again.
"Last year, Santa Claus gave me this beautiful present. This white scarf. It is very long but it's beautiful. My mother gave me blue face paint. My father gave me a locket."
He took out a locket and showed it to Tala. It had the picture of him and his parents huddled up together, smiling.
"I wish Santa will come this year." Tala said looking at a star.
"Wait here." Kai said, rushing out of the room. He came back a minute later, holding something behind his back.
"Even if Santa doesn't come this year, you shall have a Christmas present. Here." He said, revealing the little red phoenix plush toy he kept behind his back.
Tala's eyes widened in delight and took the little toy from Kai's hands.
"It's beautiful."
"Yeah, my mother gave it to me two years ago."
"Thank you, Kai." Tala said, hugging him.
If you aren't half asleep yet, congratulations. If you think it was lame and not worth your time, I think so too. Review or not to review, that is the question. Well, you answer that.
