Under the Mistletoe

They stood there in the street, watching as the light rose behind the buildings! As beautiful as the scene was, it wasn't near as beautiful as the woman standing next to him. They stood there, both of them like shy school children wanting to take each other by the hand, but both afraid of what each other would think.

Lucas told himself to be bold. As they watched the lanterns, he wanted to grab her by the hand. He inched his way closer as slow as he could. This was his opportunity. He inched his hand over and slowly grabbed her hand, scared of how she'd react. He slowly intertwined her fingers with his. Much to his delight she did not pull away, but a smile came to her face and he could see her blush.

Lucas was sure at this moment, she was the one for him. The couple turned and slowly walked back to the saloon. He brought her hand up to his lips and kissed her goodbye as he returned to work and she headed for home.

Lucas was hosting a reception at the saloon after the Christmas Concert. This few weeks of the Christmas festival had been the busiest of his life. He had thoroughly enjoyed the moment walking hand in hand with Elizabeth back to the saloon. It was all he could think about.

The whole town filed in for the reception, but Lucas looked up and there she was standing under the mistletoe, everything in his head was telling him no. His heart was screaming at him to go for it. He walked over and with her back turned to him he whispered.

"Il y a une belle femme debout sous le gui, c'est la tradition tu sais. Nous ne voudrions pas decevoir."

He slowly turned her in his arms and a blush ran up her face as he leaned down and slowly brushed his lips against hers. Both of them realizing how great that was, they both smiled but didn't say a word. They didn't have too.

"Lucas, would you like to spend Christmas with Jack and me?" We would love to have you!"

"It would be my pleasure Elizabeth!" Lucas was so excited that this could be the beginning of something special. The kiss under the mistletoe had left him breathless. He looked forward to more of those moments.
