Mission 04: Save Your Friend From Black-Angels
A little more than two years after Toni had given priest Freed-Selzen his discharge; Our hero had already been attending high school for some time, after having barely passed middle school, which indicates a serious deficiency in the educational level of the japan of this world, but that is not the point.
He had entered Kuoh's private academy due to a recommendation from his friend Hyodou, who had recently made two other friends as mental sicks off as him, matsuda and motohama.
At first the semi-white-haired boy didn't care where to continue his studies, and the fact that there were more women in this academy didn't really interest him, however, he was still curious about that strange aura of the brown-haired boy, as well as curious about a certain girl who was also supposed to attend this school.
And speaking about his arrival at this school; There wasn't much to say. Issei, and the other two perverts hated him "a little" for being interesting to girls, as his foreign appearance, remarkable physique and delinquent attitude seemed to be a magnet for many teenage girls in this school.
"They are just kids"
However, "Toni" was not very attracted to them, after all, he had the brains of a flamboyant 45-year-old man. He always said no to girls who asked him date and/or just ignored them. If there were any women he was interested in from that school, it was ironically, some female teachers.
With that he excused himself to Issei when Issei asked him if he had different sexual preferences. Not that it was a bad thing, But knowing that his friend liked MILFs more, made Issei feel proud.
By the way, with one of those teachers he almost managed to date sometime, unfortunately guilt got the better of her and she regretted it at the last moment...
"Damn it!"
...And maybe he also found attractive a girl of the last year, who apparently no longer seemed to behave like a little girl; But just maybe, It's not as if he sometimes saw from the schoolyard, a certain window of a certain club. He was keeping an eye on her, that's all. After all, he was a hunter, and she was a she-devil. Sure, that was it. He was watching her, just like he was watching the demonic "coven" at this school.
"Heck, there are more than 10 demonic auras here, do they really only want human knowledge? When the "Beta-Morrison" told me that they were only coming for the diploma, I almost laughed"
His school life was still complicated; As a typical school delinquent, there wasn't a single day in which he wasn't scolded by the teachers due to his lack of interest in classes/wearing his uniform properly/sleeping in every class and/or fighting with another delinquent whose fame with the girls didn't please him.
Now let's talk a little about his extracurricular activities.
He had recently reopened his business, but not like before: For the time being, DMC was only limited to the poster in his room and some cards that he handed out to people on the streets randomly in their pockets without them noticing. These cards had his poster logo with a number that connected to an extra cell phone he had bought exclusively for his "business".
The cards had a message that read as follows: "Devil May Cry, if you have supernatural problems, call this number: +81 166 616 666. Conditions for accepting a job, 1) I do not eliminate innocents, 2) Payment must be adequate and in cash, 3) I must find it interesting 4) If you know the password, just say it and I'll be there".
Thanks to that and his new "Morrison", the Kusanagi had already managed to do several interesting jobs over the years.
Who was this new informant? It was the employer who had no choice but to lend him that diabolical sword after that day, "Toni" showed him that he was very persistent, and that strangely enough, he never fell under the influence of the power of the diabolical weapon. This made this new "Morrison" more interested in the semi-white-haired boy, so much so that he agreed to "sell" two or three more magic weapons to this individual. Under the pretext of "selling" him those weapons, he was most likely studying him; And in turn, "Beta-Morrison" had given him considerable information about this new world. Information that surprised him quite a bit. But let's leave that for later.
Back to the point, his other employers were always handing him the cash from their jobs in some unsafe alley or park, while "Beta-Morrison" was now summoning him to meet at a sleazy speakeasy he managed, called "Black-Dog."
At the meetings, Toni wore his cowboy hat, glasses, a purple scarf and his battle attire: A rather youthful red trench coat, and a black long sleeve shirt underneath it plus a belt with a demon skull as an evilla, a jet jeans and a pair of boots. It should be noted that the only reason he tolerated this disguise to hide his appearance was because it reminded him of the devil-arm Nico had made for him.
Most of the jobs he accepted consisted of eliminating stray demons that people had managed to observe near his surroundings, or targets that his informant wanted to eliminate without getting his hands dirty; of course, as long as they met his "hunting" criteria he met them. Needless to say, just as in his previous life, when people could not pay, if it was something important, he agreed to do the job.
The extermination of exiled demons did not go unnoticed by certain diabolical peerage, who could only wonder: "Who is the cause of all this?" without doing much about it, since the Kusanagi always performed his work and disappeared before they could even feel his presence. However, the red-haired girl sensed that it was probably that "great magician and lonely mercenary" who saved her.
With that in mind, let's move on to today...
It's Friday and our hero is resting under a tree near the academy's sports fields.
With both eyes closed, for a moment his thoughts turned to how to improve his business.
Minutes later, after realizing that he still had a long way to go before he could open a shop, he began to meditate on how curious the demons of his school are...
"This is a strange world to have demons who only want to study algebra"
At that thought, he opened one eye for a second and gave a sidelong glance at a blond-haired teenager who was passing by at the time. Said young man, he was a member of the student council and was handing out some pamphlets to other students in the distance. (Needless to say, the student council was always targeting him for falling asleep in class.)
"72 pillars, demonic societies, pure angels, fallen angels, werewolves, vampires, gods, Sacred-Gears, Nephilim. But what the hell happened in this world? It's like someone released all the myths of humanity on earth, and then decided to put them in a blender with a shonen manga in between~"
Toni scratched his head in confusion as she thought about all the information that "Beta-Morrison" said... (so called by the way, due to the fact that he hadn't wanted to give him his real name. And for that reason, he also called him "Gary" from time to time)... so far. The black-haired man with golden tips tried to explain as best as he could how so many different mythological creatures coexisted, but He just ended up getting more confused when it came to his explanation. So he absorbed the essentials, and discarded what he didn't understand. Gary Nor did he tell him everything, for so far he didn't know what had happened with his ex-father Sparda, with Mundus, Argosax, the Quiplot, or with the history of Hell in general; and he couldn't directly ask about it, for after all, he was a boy who had "recently meddled in the supernatural world".
So all he knew about the demon world of this world were generalities. Like, for example, he knew from "Gary" that there was a war between angels and demons about two thousand years ago; that hell had not been sealed by his ex-father, of whom he still didn't know what role he had in this world, or if he had even existed. And therefore, Teg-Me-Ni-Gru was probably never built, since apparently after that war there was a "cease fire" by those factions.
And that's why the demonic invasions unlike in his world (which he called "Earth-1") were "controlled" on "Earth-2".
And about more things about hell and devils: He also discovered why the demons he knew had not manifested themselves in the human world until now: When "Gary" told him about the characteristics of "The Predecessors", he immediately knew that those were his old prey, but they were sealed in the lower "floors" of hell by the devil race of the 72 pillars for some reason, but a civil war seemed to be what had caused it. And how did the 72 pillars originate and how did the Predecessors differ from the 72 pillars? No idea, "Beta-Morrison" always said it was too long a story, and boring to tell, and their auras were pretty much the same, so that remains a mystery to him.
A mystery as big as the fact that most of the devils offered contracts to provide services such as massages.
"But what the hell happened to them?! Did They evolved from Neanderthals to sapiens devils?!"
The whole thing kept confusing him.
"Ah, there goes another student abandoning his humanity. How many is that this year? Are the devils' offers that good? Heck, they must be like real estate agents~"
Seeing a girl pass by who had a human aura yesterday and a demonic aura today, "Toni" took a sip of a soda in his hand and scratched the back of his head while shaking his head. That was another thing he also understood from "Gary". Rencarnates Demons. Humans or other magic beasts that join with demonic nobilities to receive assorted benefits, and at the same time help restore the numbers of the 72 pillars, because according to Gary, they were in danger of extinction .
"Will these demonic pieces emulate the ritual that Arkham or the guys from Isle of Fortune performed to become demons? No, it must be something higher level...These guys don't go crazy, they keep their personalities intact, or even their noble hearts. Stranger things, after stranger things"
*Sigh*: After sighing with regret and a bit of frustration at the lack of answers, the Kusanagi opened one of his eyelids again and out of the corner of his eye noticed an open window of an old building in this school.
"Oh, come on, couldn't they have given it a better name than 'occult research club'?~"—At the thought, our hero pursed his lips and gritted his teeth to keep from laughing out loud, but it was impossible.—"Hahahaha!"— So his laughter alerted other students who were nearby, who watched him as if he was crazy for a few moments.—"That in my world would be like a demon-hunting magnet, besides, what kind of principal lets a club like that happen?"—He took a sip of his drink, which he soon spat out as he couldn't help but laugh again. After that, he took one last look at the occult club.—"Well, at least the red-haired girl from that time, and the 'village president'... Rias, turned out to be here, so I won't have to go looking for her anymore if I need to collect a favor"—he smiled.
Thinking that, the Kusanagi jumped to his feet, to subsequently dunk the bottle of his soda in a nearby trash can without even seeing it, and then walked in the direction of the school's exit casually.
-!
Before leaving, he ran into the trio of school perverts, whom they already know. They were surrounded by 6 third year boys, and apparently those six students wanted to beat them up for some reason. —'Maybe for having done something to a girl dating them': that's what our hero thought when he saw the scene.
The student who looked like the leader of those six, was as tall as Toni, muscular and had a typical bully face.
"Hey, Issei and the wimps, what's going on? *Sigh*". Just behind that scene, Toni spoke as he sighed wearily, for he already imagined what he would have to do.
"Toni, they say they want to teach us a lesson for spying on their girlfriends, but we didn't know they were their girlfriends!". With desperation said the brown-haired boy, while hugging matsuda and motohama, who were trembling with fear, "Let us go, we're already dead". With teary eyes, Hyoudou enunciated as the Kusanagi made his way through the thugs. With his back to them, he said a few words to Hyodou, which made the 6 boys more enraged, as he was ignoring them.
"Issei...oh boy. Didn't I tell you that you should only spy when you know you won't be discovered?~ *Sigh* Now I'll have to save you again, how many times this year, 3 or 4?"
*Hit*
"Ouch!". At the same time Toni said with his characteristic flippant tone, he hit hit him lightly in his head, which caused Issei to rub a bump on his head comically.
"And I'm not counting the times I couldn't help you. So today you're buying me a triple portion of pizzas with tomato juice. Do you got that, pervert kid?"
Hearing the Kusanagi's nonchalant comments, the bullies behind him boiled with rage, so their leader began to prod the boy's back in an attempt to get his attention.
"Hey Double A, turn around. Do you really think you can take us on? Haa! You know?, I'm glad you showed up, since you came this school I've been want for you as well. My girl denies it, but I know you get her attention. so I'll take the opportunity to break you a few teeth!". With an air of smugness, the boy tried to intimidate the Kusanagi, but he only managed to get a playful smile when he turned to face him.
"No Toni, this time there are too many of them!". Issei tried to stop him because he didn't want to involve his friend in a fight he couldn't win. So far he had only faced at most two bullies when he defended him before.
"Calm down Issei~"—However, Toni took the situation in a relaxed manner when he addressed a few words to the burly bully—"I've got news for you. No one can call me 'Double A' and live to tell about it, except the Alcoholics Anonymous groups where I'll be enrolled in a few years because of those two names"—He scratched his cheek a bit ruefully before continuing, he had to admit that Akira-Antoni still sounded awful, and they were two names that could get you a nickname like that, which was a 'bit' embarrassing for him—"You say you want for me? Are you sure you don't like yaoi?~ You know, Steroids won't stop you from not liking men Kid, just come out of the closet for once. Free yourself and stop screwing others for your frustrations, In this day and age, no one cares anymore what you want to fuck or what you want to be~"—Finishing his taunt directed at the exaggerated musculature of the leader of these student yakuza, the semi-white-haired boy chuckled as he saw how the veins in bully's temples were throbbing, but before there was another move, Toni smiled confidently as he placed his hands in his pants pockets, and then said again—"I'll give you two options, in the first one: you go away and forget about it, preserving your dignity, I mean, ~ looking doesn't hurt anyone *wink* ~...And in the second, you and your friends decide to continue the fight, which I don't recommend. However to be fair, I'll give all you the upper hand and won't take my hands out of my pants pockets...So which one do you choose?"
"!"
"!"-The perverted trio almost had a heart attack when they heard the Kusanagi's arrogant voice. They immediately fell to their knees on the ground as they trembled.
"!"- And on the other hand, the leader of the bullys couldn't take it anymore, so he aimed his fist at the Kusanagi's face, who simply dodged it by ducking...
*Hit*: And an instant later, a dry and loud sound rang out as the Kusanagi kicked the stomach of the muscular teenager, who fell to the ground while grabbing his abdomen out of instinct. Milliseconds later, his consciousness left him.
"Guys, it's time for you to realize that steroids are bad, don't take them, they only give pure appearance, but no strength. And they leave you with eggs like a hummingbird's"
"!"-The Kusanagi's taunts, made the other 5 guys even more enraged, despite their initial doubts and surprise for having seen how their leader was defeated so easily. Toni then took one of his hands out of his pants for a moment and nonchalantly challenged the rest of the bullies with one of his fingers.
"Are you guys going to stay there or are you going to dance?"
"!"-With his honor on the line, the other five teenagers attacked him at the same time...
*Swhoosh**Swhoosh**Swhoosh**Swhoosh*-...None of their fists could connect a blow to Kusanagi and only the sound of the wind could be heard when our hero dodged all those fists in slow motion.
*Hit* *Hit* *Hit* *Hit* *Hit*-As he dodged the attacks, Toni immediately countered with kicks that looked like they came from a kung fu martial artist. Each kick made contact with each of the bullies' stomachs, who fell to the ground in the same manner as their leader, and that way in less than 5 seconds all 6 teens were out cold.
"Hmmmm, I think I overdid it...". Scratching his cheek as he watched the miserable scene of those young men he had left lying, he felt a little sorry for them. Then he turned around and held out his hand to Issei, "Remember. Pizzas and tomato juice on Sunday"
The brown-haired boy accepted his help, took his hand and stood up as he and the other two perverts had a face full of astonishment.
"Thank you Toni-sama!"
"This... stand up, and no 'sama', just call me Toni". Smiling forcibly and with a drop on the back of his neck, the Kusanagi felt sorry for Matsuda and motohama, who thanked pathetically.
"Thank you Toni, you saved us!"— Said Hyodou while hugged our hero for a moment. Then he released the Kusanagi and said proudly—"I'll pay you back for the favor!. But Sunday I can't! Hmmmm, make it Monday after school, I have a date! I have a girlfriend, do you remember?!...By the way, do you practice karate?"
"Yes, I practice karate". Tapping the palm of one of his hands with his fist, as if he had just remembered something, Toni spoke to the brown-haired boy again, after smiling wryly at the comment of the martial art, "... Ah, yes, I remember, you're going out with the girl with red eyes!"
Saying that, his face expressed seriousness for a moment when he thought about that girl that his friend had introduced to him, because he knew she was not human because of her aura, a strong aura: And an aura that was different from "Gary's"; because that characteristic sensation that gave him the aura of Mundus or Argosax, was also present in "Gary": Perhaps it was a kind of divinity?
However, the aura of "Beta Morrison" was not particularly evil. It was dark, but it didn't have that nauseating aroma that the auras of those demons gave off...Or maybe they were actually evil gods...
Back to the point, "Yuuma" possessed an aura similar to that of "Beta Morrison" but at the same time different. Different even from that of other demigods, such as the few-winged fallen angels he had "hunted" thanks to Gary. It was as if the aura of "Yuuma" had an even more "Degraded" divinity than those fallen angels. It was more like the aura of a human being with sacred-gear, than that of a fallen angel. Toni didn't know how to describe it for sure, but it was most likely highly related to the fallen angel species and most likely to the deities.
"That reminds me, you're quite a case. You finally got a girlfriend and then went to spy on other women! At the rate you're going you'll either have a harem or live alone under a bridge. Ha! Anyway, I'll see you until Monday then, See ya~"—With that said, he walked in the direction of his home after saying a casual goodbye. However, halfway there he thought the following seriously before he lost himself in the horizon—"On Sunday I'll be keeping an eye on you Yuuma, if that's even your real name"
One would probably think that Toni was taking too much trouble with Hyoudou. And it also didn't seem to be the typical friendship that every school delinquent would have, or that even Toni would have: After all, in his first life he tried to escape from all interpersonal relationships as much as he could, in order to keep everyone he could away from the demons that haunted him and/or in order to keep those people who tried to get close to him from suffering because of his "guilt", or from losing their lives because of his "guilt". But that was the half-blood he once was, and not the man he is today.
18 years living a new "normal" life with a loving family without worries, helps repair the mind and fears better than the best therapy and/or anti-depressants you can get in the world.
Of course, that didn't mean that everything was repaired within him psyche. But where there had always been an open wound, there was now an almost formed scar.
So befriending someone despite their differences and/or seeing himself as someone's older brother was no longer an impossible matter for this person. Of course, he still had fears that he could not get rid of completely yet, as in the case of his relationships with the female sex, but we'll talk about that in another moment.
Meanwhile, from the open window of the occult research club (ORC), a redhead had seen the fight, so she was pensive when she focused her sight on the figure of our hero that was lost in the horizon.
"That second year boy defeated those 6 very easily". While she was immersed in her thoughts, Rias' hair waved for a moment in the wind, "...Too bad he's just an ordinary human. *sigh*. I couldn't do anything against Riser"
The Gremory sighed gloomily at the thought. Her expression hardened and her gaze became distant. Then she placed her hands between her neck for a second, to hold the red scarf she received a little over two years ago, and still wore on rainy or cool days: "If only Dante would join my family"; She thought for a moment selfishly, although then she remembered his peculiar way of being and deduced that it would most likely be impossible. That, paradoxically brought her out of her saddened state and made her smile.
-o-o-o-o-o
Gremory's memories began to flow in scattered colors that became a living painting in a short time.
After Dante left the forest, the members of her peerage managed to catch up with her and observed how around her there were several shattered trees, a destroyed abandoned temple wall, and canals/cracks in the ground. They also noticed with astonishment how their leader's clothes were in bad shape and she was very exhausted.
Finally, their gazes fell on the mutated body of the priest lying a few meters away: decapitated, however, this person was very different from what the descriptions in the reports indicated.
"Buchou, we were trying to talk to you, but there was interference on the magic intercoms. What happened, are you all right? It looks like you had a tough battle!"
The voice of a blonde-haired boy, whose last name was Yuuto, sounded full of concern immediately after seeing her in that state.
"I'm fine kiba, thanks for asking. It's just that this priest was stronger than I expected. *Sigh*"—She then placed her hands on the scarf around her neck and thought with determination—"I must train, I must improve my handling of the power of destruction! I can no longer be outmatched by humans! If I'm still this weak, I won't be able to annul that marriage contract!"—Having thought the above, the Gremory's gaze rested on her servants, and then she asked in anguish.—"Were you in any danger?!"
Despite knowing that they were not facing the enemy, cause the adrenaline that still ran through her veins, could not prevent her from thinking of possible dangers that she had not seen coming, such as allies or henchmen of that priest.
However, it was only paranoia:
"No Buchou, we only went through the forest without managing to find that damned priest!"
Kiba answered for everyone, who nodded their heads as they listened to him.
The next to speak was a black-haired teenage girl who curiously saw a new garment of the Gremory.
"Ara-Ara-Rias, what about that scarf around your neck? when it got there?"
"It's a short but interesting story, Akeno"
That said, the redhead smiled refreshingly and let out a sigh full of relief.
-o-o-o-o-o
"Ara-Ara, Rias...". The memory of the high-class demon ended as her queen brought her back to the real world after addressing a few words to her when she arrived at her side, "..Did you find a new and future servant?"
"No Akeno". Rias replied with disappointment as she continued to watch the horizon through the window, "Let's focus on Issei for now, let's keep watching him,". She let go of the scarf around her neck, turned around and sat down at her desk as she finished her sentence, "I hope he has with him what my familiar will deliver to him"
The time passed quickly, and soon, Sunday of that week arrived...
The curtain of the night was about to descend and Toni (who was wearing his costume and carrying on his back that diabolical sword that he got some time ago wrapped in his special sheath) without anyone noticing, had been following from afar the couple composed by Issei and "Yuuma".
The Kusanagi watched for a long time as those "teenagers" seemed to be having fun on their date, however, something didn't add up, the "girl" seemed to be faking her fun. Many of her expressions seemed fake.
"Something is about to happen"
His instincts were constantly telling him that.
A short time later, the couple headed for a city park.
And our hero followed them spying on them from a building somewhat far away.
"!"-When the girl moved away from Hyodou and approached the fountain, the Kusanagi's senses went on alert, as the woman's aura increased in strength. And after that, a spear of light appeared in her hands, but for some reason she did not throw it at Hyodou. Immediately after that, another man with a pair of black wings appeared on the scene.
Without a second thought, Toni sped towards the scene. Cause his curiosity, He had already hesitated too much since he had seen the woman's transformation: he only hoped he could get there in time.
"Shit! It's not only her, there's also that fallen angel! Hang on pervert Kid!"—Toni thought that as he ran through the streets at a superhuman speed that the mortal eye couldn't keep up with. No passerby he encountered could have come to think that that reddish blob was a man running.
From one moment to the next, the red-eyed teenage girl had somehow transformed and revealed that she was some sort of corrupted celestial being.
Added to her beautiful appearance that was practically identical to that of Ishtar from the anime Fate-Grand Order, with all her excessively revealing, and somewhat luxurious clothing but in her version with "more" clothes. She also had a simple jet-colored wing sprouting from her back on the left side, though on the right side there was nothing. As if she had lost it for some reason.*1
[Author's Note: I'm going to make changes with "Yuuma". Read the clarifications at the end of the chapter so you don't get confused].
The aforementioned transformed into this appearance when she stood to the side of the fountain, and then created seemingly out of thin air a spear made of light that she held in her hands.
She then swung the spear towards the brown-haired teenager, who was lying on the ground due to the shock of what he had just witnessed.
The black-haired girl continued swinging the spear, as if she wanted to throw it at Issei...
"I-I-Ca-Can't..."—But doubts showed on her face all the time, until she stopped the movement of her hands abruptly. Then she closed her eyes and grimaced in disgust as she muttered a few words that were soon rising in pitch.—"I can't do it...I can't do it..I simply can't follow these orders!"
With that said, the girl's eyes watered just as she averted her gaze from the teenager.
"Hmmmp! I thought you could finally follow our leader's orders!"—Then, behind her, a voice full of contempt was heard. A second later, out of the darkness of the night, a man wearing a black trench coat and a black hat appeared. On this man's back, unlike the woman, was a pair of jet-colored wings.—"However, since you came to our group, you have not been able to kill a single human being possessed of a sacred gear"—This fallen angel stood next to 'Yuuma' and continued his sentence as he looked at her with eyes full of disappointment—"If you just kill demons, you will remain a disgrace, "Raynare"! Don't you want to regain your lost divinity?! Do you intend to remain a filthy divine ancestor?!"
When he exclaimed in fury, this man was about to slap the woman called "Raynare", who immediately fixed him with her red eyes filled with an intense gaze, wich sent him the following message: "If you continue, you will lose more than a hand". That apparently scared him too much, because he stopped just inches away from touching her skin, while he swallowed spittle as a drop of nervous sweat crossed his forehead.
That done, when the woman realized that the man had remembered her strength, she said determinedly as follows:
"Of course I wish to regain my divinity more than anything else in the world, you useless soldier!"—Despite her angry sentence, the black-haired-girl watered again when she uttered the first few sentences of that sentence. Then she wiped her eyes, and continued calmer, but still angry.—"But I still don't understand why Azzazel asked us to do this! The murder of innocent human beings has nothing to do with the deal we made to help me get back my divinity! Or with any kind of trickery that old man has done in the past!... Killing sacred-gear wielders, killing 'Nephilims' to keep demons from reincarnating them, doesn't seem like something he would do. doesn't it?"
*Sigh*: After listening to her, the fallen angel sighed pitifully and shook his head when he answered him coldly:
"Perhaps your power is the strongest of everyone in the group assigned to this region. But with that kind of thinking and attitude you will always be a pitiful being in Grigori. A mockery of a fallen Angel. A fallen goddess, who is just a being inmortal to the time with great magical power. A mere witch, who is more a human than one of us. I don't know why you are still kept by the superiors. Listen well, our duty is to obey orders without asking questions! That's why we infantry troops exist! And if you're not willing to do this job to recover your divinity, why don't you just kill yourself?! Why don't you just die and be reborn as a 'complete' being?!"
The eyes of the fallen man were engraved with deep contempt as they fixed on the woman, who was biting her lower lip in frustration at that moment. Needless to say, her fists clenched tightly: she wished to put an end to that black angel, she deserved it: his words were hurtful, and she had no reason to put up with it. She was something glorious in the past, with a status far above this simple "soldier"; But when she wanted to direct her fist at the face of that black angel with the intention of killing him, she stopped herself. She knew she couldn't do it, at least not for the moment or Azzazel might back out, and no longer help her in her quest for her "Divinity". She was trapped and subservient to these guys until she regained that which was taken from her.
Looking at her one last time with more contempt and pity, the black angel said a few last hurtful words to her as he watched her lower her clenched fist.
"Ha! I thought so. Maybe your magic power is strong, but your determination is weak. Now get out of here, I'll take care of it!"—That said, the winged one in the black trench coat took his eyes off "Raynare" and then threw a spear of light at the brown-haired boy, who was still paralyzed by fear.
*Crash!*-When the light spear pierced Hyodou's abdomen, the sound of shattering glass reverberated in the scene as the weapon hit the park floor and then shattered into a thousand pieces.
That was what the Kusanagi, who had just arrived at the scene, was able to observe in slow motion, unfortunately too late, because when he reached out his hands to try to reach the spear, his fingers could only touch it.
So his friend's stomach had already been ripped open like a bleeding cauliflower...
"Aaaaaaagh!"
A split second after his abdomen was pierced, Issei groaned and spat blood agonizingly as the Kusanagi held him as he was about to fall to the ground.
*Shreder*: The sound of clothes being torn was heard next, as Toni tore a part of his trench coat to place the piece of cloth over the brown-haired boy's wound.
That done, Toni spoke hastily:—"Hold on, press hard!"—...as he took the Hyoudou's hands and brought them to his wound together with the piece of cloth. Trying to stop his friend's crimson liquid from spraying out like a hose.
Toni knew that it would not be enough to save him, however all this would at least give him time to fight with the murderer and return to accompany him in his last minutes alive.
Once that was done, he gently placed hyoudou's body on the ground.
"?!"-On the other hand, both "Raynare" and the black angel were quite surprised and confused by his sudden appearance, since in less than a blink of an eye the Kusanagi from their perspective had appeared practically out of nowhere and in just less than 3 breaths gave "first aid" to the brown-haired teenager.
*Auge, Auge, Auge!*: The next moment, the Kusanagi's body was enveloped in a pale aura as he raised his magical power as he stood up. He then turned around to focus his gaze on the black angel.
"I'm having crow soup for dinner today, so..."—Toni tried to hide his displeasure, but his voice betrayed him a little, as he spoke with a more serious tone than usual while he took with one hand the diabolical sword wrapped in the red sheath that had been hanging on his back. It should be noted that the sword had a western appearance and a size slightly larger than a sword of that type, however, its hilt possessed the image of a dragon's skull with a pair of crimson horns, with its open Skull mouth facing the metallic-colored blade. It was somewhat reminiscent of Alastor, but didn' t have the bat wings in its grip.—"...Prepare to be plucked"
When he exclaimed with a hint of satire, the Kusanagi's magical power was released even more intensely, until it turned into a white aura that grew to be a few meters tall. The concrete of the park floor split into cracks that formed a spider web pattern. And in turn the killer instinct was palpable in the air.
"Oooh. Is that a high-ranking magic knight? And that... is that a Demonic sword? Eh? Why is he wearing a scarf with a cowboy hat?". Raynare didn't seem particularly impressed by that last one as she only raised an eyebrow in curiosity having witnessed the display of that aura plus the stranger's appearance, however...
*Swallow*...the black angel in the trench coat began to sweat nervously when he felt that killer instinct of both the Kusanagi and the "Devil-Arm" directed at him. Turning away from the source and slowly backing away were his next actions. Instinctively he tried to take flight, however...
*Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!*...before he had even spread his wings to escape, the "cowboy" had already connected a strong punch straight to his face as he charged towards the black angel in a split second. The kusanagi was also prepared to defend himself against the red-eyed woman if she was thinking of defending his partner, but all that came from the woman was an indifference that tried to mask the slight surprise she felt at him speed.
She simply stepped back and crossed her arms without wanting to get into the fight, watching with eyes full of disdain the black angel, plus a small smile of barely perceptible satisfaction. For a moment she thought she would also be the target of the man in red, however she was ignored.
And after noticing that the woman apparently had no intention of participating, Toni focused 90% of his attention on the culprit of Issei's death.
Both understood by their body language alone that they would not interfere with the other. However, Toni still placed 10% of his attention on that woman, for whatever she might be planning to do against him. And in turn, he would also look for her to give him "explanations" after finishing with his "prey", whether she escaped or stayed until the end.
*Craaaaaaaash!-After the punch, the fountain in the park was destroyed by the black angel's body, as he was thrown backwards by Kusanagi's severe punch. He then spun around miserably in the air until he ended up crashing into one of the trees in the park.
Moments later, the black angel struggled to stand up while holding his jaw. His jaw already had several broken teeth, and blood was flowing from his lips.
*Steps*-Dante walked slowly across what was left of the fountain. He soaked from head to toe before approaching the black angel again, who didn't seem very happy about this situation, as well as with a certain woman;
"Raynare, why are you n-n-not doing anything?! What are you doing just standing there?! Finish w-w-with this guy immediately!"
The smirk on "Raynare's" face increased when she heard those words. Then she frivolously said the following:
"Are you so stupid that you don't realize that I can't tolerate you? If you die at the hands of someone else it's not my problem. That old pervert, and 'Samiel' only care that I don't cause trouble for you. So I wish you luck, oh 'mighty' Dounashiku~ Someone as 'strong' as you will surely be able to get out of this on his own!~"
"Raynaaaaaaaaaare!". With fury, the black angel let out that scream when he was barely managing to stand up.
Toni, on the other hand, smiled wryly for a moment after hearing the woman, but then went about his business.
"It looks like no one is coming to save you Raven, any last words before you leave for bird nirvana?". Pointing him with the tip of his sword blade held by one of his hands towards Dounashiku, our hero uttered those sarcastically cruel words, and then...
*Shine*...the edge of the blade of that sword, filled with a darkened purple hue made of demonic aura, for the Kusanagi was making use of the demoniac powers of the sword by channeling his magical power and will as a "switch" of ignition for that weapon.
At that moment the black angel was finally able to stand up and inquired angrily even though he was also frightened. His words were pronounced with difficulty as he had half of his jaw unhinged.
"W-W-Who the hell are you and W-What do you want?! D-Do you know who you a-are facing?! I am Dounashiku, a fallen a-a-angel under Samiel and Azzazel's C-Command!" *2
"I'm just a simple 'freelance' who doesn't care about your role in the slightest and by the way, that's the worst name I've ever heard~!"
"Aaaah! Fuck you!". Then, the black angel rose into the air while creating a spear of light that he immediately threw at the man in the red trenchcoat.
*Whooosh!*:The next blink, a small gust of wind was created as Toni easily dodged the spear by moving to the side. That done, he simply swung his sword at the black angel as he enunciated:
"Drive!"
*Booom! Shreder!*- That done, the sound of a loud explosion and flesh being torn were present as from the blade of his sword was released a crescent shaped wave of demonic power directed towards the fallen angel in the heights, who could barely dodge it by flapping to the side, however the wave of power cut off one of his wings and one of his arms, all before he fell back to the ground in agony.
*Smoke* *Smoke* *Smoke*-The tree behind Dounashiku that was hit by that wave of power immediately broke in half, as smoke billowed from its split trunk. If the wave had been sent to the ground, most likely a large area of the land and green areas of the park would have been evaporated.
"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!". Immediately afterwards the black angel shrieked in agony as the severe pain of his missing wing and limb reached his brain at the same time as a sea of blood was spat out from the stump that was now his right arm. It took him too long to realize that he was not a worthy opponent for this fight.
On the other hand, "Raynare" whispered a "Not bad for a mere mortal" in a neutral tone, then nodded her head with that smirk still directed at his "partner".
A breath later, the Kusanagi was ready to finish the "job", so he approached step by step to Dounashiku, who began to crawl backwards without taking his eyes off the stranger in the hat.
"Ah, I hope 'Gary' will tell me what the fuck is going on with his crows now. He doesn't like 'Nephilim' being 'touched', you know... Meh, whatever, Sayonara Mr Bird"
That said, the "Cowboy" took his sword with both hands and directed its tip to the abdomen of the black-winged angel who was still in a miserable state on the ground. The fallen had already accepted his fate apparently because he closed his eyes, and waited for his sad end while he mentally asked forgiveness to his leaders for having failed, however...
*Hiiit!*...the blade of the sword never made contact with Dounashiku and instead only the sound of a strong punch was heard, as the Kusanagi had stopped his demonic weapon just inches away from his skin because at that instant he felt a familiar presence coming from the direction where he had left Hyodou, so he decided to knock the black angel unconscious with another punch in the face to investigate what was happening. He planned to return for his prey, once he knew why Rias had come all the way to this place.
Incidentally, "Raynare" disappeared through a magic circle just as she saw the future leader of the Gremory clan appear.
Once the black angel was knocked unconscious, the ex-sparda hid his presence and sneaked to some bushes that were about ten meters away from Hyodou's position. He hid behind these, and then finally spotted the reddish-haired girl at the side of his dying friend.
"What is she doing here?". Our hero thought with confusion about the reason behind which Rias had appeared in this place. She seemed quite focused on the blood-drenched brown-haired boy, so she didn't notice that the fountain a bit away from there was destroyed...or the tree split in two...
"Was it you who called me? If you want me to save you, just say so, and it will be done"—It didn't take long for Rías to talk to the dying brown-haired boy, who perhaps by instinct and/or by some kind of hallucinations due to the lack of blood nodded affirmatively to the woman in a very weak way, since he was at death's door. She soon created a magic circle that appeared below her feet—"All right. I will fulfill your wish, but now your life will live for me"—At the end of her prayer, she somehow "introduced" 8 red chess pawn figures into Hyodou's body.
*Shine*: The glow of the magic circle of the Gremory became more intense and then the body of the brown-haired boy recovered completely. An instant later, the demonic aura characteristic of any devil was being emanated from his person.
A short time later, the redhead disappeared the same way she arrived, through a magic circle.
"Oooooh, so the evil pieces can also save someone who is about to die!. I don't know if that's cool, or fucking beneficial to devils~"
Once Rias left the scene, Toni approached his friend's body, and pondered about what he knew about the diabolical pieces thanks to "Beta-Morrison". A new piece of information had just been included in his brain encyclopedia about this other world. Then he observed Hyodou's state of health, and his new attributes.
He was already breathing normally, and sleeping peacefully, as if nothing had happened, except for the fact that he was now another creature.
"Almost good as new..."—Toni index finger and thumb were placed on his chin before continuing—"Too bad you had to lose your humanity for that..."—A confused expression took over his face as he scratched his head—"...But I guess in this world, that's no big deal. As long as you don't go crazy being a demon and start eating people, I guess we'll still be comrades...But that said, please do something more interesting in your future demon jobs, don't just give massages!"—A wry smile formed on his lips as he thought of that last one.
Then he carried the chestnut-haired boy like a sack and headed towards where he had left the black angel in agony, but...—"I d-d-don't know who you are, b-but the next time we m-meet, I'll be r-r-ready!"—...the aforementioned released those words from afar just as the glow of a magic circle enveloped him. It seems that he regained consciousness a little before Toni's return, so he managed to escape certain death.
The man in the hat heard him, but was not at all concerned about his threats. He only regretted that he had not finished him off when he could, but There would be a next opportunity for that. He had that feeling.
Later, the ex-sparda traveled at full speed through the streets of the city with Issei still on his shoulders, until he arrived at the house of the aforementioned, where he entered through the open window of his room to then place him face up on his bed. And by the way, the now Kusanagi had taken off Issei shirt because it was soaked with blood.
"He was probably attacked because of his sacred-gear. The other crow didn't want to kill him, it seems that she doesn't agree with the orders they send them. But who gives them those orders and why? It would be impossible that 'Gary' is giving them. He has never told me about something like this...Aaah, screw it, I'll just go ask 'Black-Dog' for explanations!"
Toni continued to mull over the facts after leaving the chestnut-haired boy in his bed, and when he had enough confused thoughts in his head, he just left the room to go to a certain place in search of answers.
In a short time, the ex-sparda reached the outskirts of Kuoh City, and entered the border zone of the surrounding city.
He walked through unsafe streets and alleys for a few minutes, until he came upon what appeared to be a dead end with a large amount of garbage cans piled up on the foot of the end wall.
However, Toni kept walking normally until he reached that area.
And after that, he kept on walking, and walking, Until his body ended up passing through the garbage cans and even the final brick wall, as if it were intangible; Or as if it were nothing more than a hologram.
Behind that wall that didn't really exist, he ran into a narrow corridor that led to a white door with the image of a black dog on the front.
*Open*-Then, with a supernatural squeak in between, he turned the door knob and entered what seemed to be a bar that could certainly be described as "sleazy": but, in addition to its crumbling walls, tables and stools in poor condition, it had waiters who seemed to be very old former assassins (or mercenaries) with faces full of scars, wrinkles and cold looks.
Various kinds of quirky tunes were playing everywhere, but the noise was not so loud as not to hear others.
There were also two small stages in the background with dance tubes, where two exotic dancers were giving their show; Strangely, none of the strange customers in that area seemed to dare to touch them and/or hurt them and/or make offensive comments. They just watched. Most likely because if they stepped out of line, they would pay dearly.
Incidentally, not everyone in there was human; There were fallen angels, horned creatures, a werewolf...
In fact, one of the dancers had tentacles sticking out of the top of her head?
It looked like a bar out of an Isekai where the "adventurers" had just arrived to a very dangerous area.
*Hit**Hit**Hit**Hit**Hit**Hit*-And as if that wasn't enough, also, at that moment, in a corner of this tavern two men were fighting, so the attention of many of the customers was not only directed to the strippers.
The fight went on for at least about two minutes, during which time chairs were blown over and tables were broken.
But neither of those two, however, could get the better of the other. They were in a stalemate. In a stalemate, which the one who seemed to be the owner of the bar would take care of.
"Stop, you damn street rats!"—A man dressed in a smart suit, wich had a black hair spiked with gold plus a goatee in his face stopped the fight in the corner of his place by simply raising his voice from behind the bar. But just when you would think he would punish those two individuals, he only ended up proposing another way to resolve the differences between those two customers when he climbed on top of the bar and shouted while holding his hands in the air, like a ringleader.—"You scoundrels, don't you remember what we do at the 'Black Dog'!?"
"Drinking!". And immediately after his question, the rest of the men and magical creatures of the tavern answered him in unison.
"So, how do we arrange something here?!". The owner asked them, raising his voice even higher.
"With alcoholic beverages!"
"Alcoholic beverages? I have an ocean of the stuff!". With disdain, the owner of the tavern exclaimed at the response of his customers and then he continued, "What would you like?!"
"Gary's vodka!"
The room full of criminal looking men and assorted humanoid beasts roared in approval and then all pointed to the individuals who had been fighting moments ago. A man who looked very refined and full of bandages was the one who had been fighting with an albine fellow who you could well tell was a vampire by the pair of large fangs protruding from his mouth. When they were pointed out and seen by all, the strong waiters guided both of them to a table in a certain corner to then place huge jars filled with liquor *4
Their alcoholic battle began, but its outcome does not interest us anymore...
Back to Toni; He observed all this dangerous environment with an approving smile at the corners of his mouth and inhaled the aroma of the slums with pleasure. Pleasant and not so pleasant memories always came to his mind when he visited this place, which somehow reminded him of his old home.
And then he thought with certainty the following: "It is impossible that Beta-Morrison would send such an order. If he had an order for the black angels, it would be to take a vacation in vodkaland~"
So once reinvigorated by this peculiar atmosphere, he approached the tavern owner, who immediately greeted him as he stepped down from the bar counter,
"Hey Dante, are you bored again with the drinks you steal from the mortal liquor stores? Again you come for one of my magic drinks, uh?"
"No. Not this time... Well, it wouldn't be bad... But no, that's not what I came for this time! Dude...We need to have a serious talk. It's about the black angels of Kuoh, I have some news that you might not like"
"Hmmmmp! So that's it. Come with me..."
Seeing Toni's sudden serious attitude, and upon hearing that last part of his sentence, apparently the one known to everyone in this place as "Gary", directed him to a certain room in the tavern that well looked like a mini-apartment inside, with no dilapidated or shabby appearance compared to what was behind its front door.
There they both sat down on comfortable couches, and began their chat with a little liquor in between.
They started the conversation with casual topics, such as "How have you been?", "How's business?" "Did you make it with the teacher?"
But as soon as Toni told him what he had seen and heard, "Gary" resolved his concerns with some reluctance and a rather pity-filled attitude.
"Oh, hell... This has already gotten out of hand... I don't know if you should know"
"What do you mean?"
"..."
"Old man, you can't just keep quiet..."
"..."
"Old-Man?..."
"..."
"Old-Man?!"
"..."
"Oh, come on beta-Morrison! Tell me what the hell's going on!"
"Stop calling me 'Beta-Morrison' kid! Who the fuck is Morrison and why do you think he can compare himself to me?!"
"Hahaha! I knew you'd open your beak again with that~. As proud as ever~... But seriously... That's my town too, old man! And a friend of mine almost died because of your people! I think I should know what the hell is going on! Don't I deserve more trust after all these years of doing your dirty jobs?"
*Big sigh*: Using the phrase "old reliable" as a motivator for Gary, Toni managed to convince him to speak after he gave a long sigh and thought after a while that he should say.
"Make yourself comfortable, this is going to be a long talk *Sigh*. You've always wanted to know what kind of creature I am, right? Get ready to finish all the vodka and pee in your pants~"
Unfortunately for "Gary", Toni wasn't too surprised when he revealed to him that he was an Angelic God from the Judeo-Christian myth. Toni had already sensed something similar, he possessed a powerful aura, "sacred" and "dark" at the same time. Something too rare to be just a simple fallen angel, and besides he having seen stranger things in his world.
"Gary", was actually Azzazel; A fallen angelic god. Interestingly, until that moment, Toni realized that Mundus and Argosax had been evil gods and not demons of his world, cause that feeling he got from Azzazel's "aura" that was incredibly similar to those "bosses" was the attribute of "Dark Divinity". *3
And he wasn't too surprised either by the problems Gary was relating to him: apparently another Fallen-God-Angel named Samiel, was up to something by using Azzazel's name as a method of convincing troops of lesser Fallen Angels to work for him under an unknown purpose, involving decreasing the population of SG users, the use of powerful sacred swords stolen from the Vatican, and the theft of a divine artifact from Grigori codenamed "Cheater".
Azzazel is still investigating what "Samiel" is up to, but he is probably trying to cause another war or conflict with the other biblical factions through these methods.
So Azzazel (knowing the Kusanagi, who was definitely going to keep getting into these supernatural matters given his personality) recommended Toni not to get directly in Samiel's way if he meets him or he would inevitably die: It would be best if he only faced lesser troops like the ones he faced today, and if he discovered anything else he didn't know about let him know. Azzazel also left him as a potential job, to point out the location of the "Cheater" artifact if he came across it. Obviously he described to him what the artifact looked like.
And he would obviously pay him for that as well.
However, despite the seriousness of the matter, and the potential dangers to come; these revelations also opened up more questions, which for the moment Toni left for later...
...To which mythologies the Mundus belonged, and Argosax of his world?...
...They definitely had to belong to Judeo-Christian mythology, but their names did not match any deity of that mythology in this world that he knew...
...Were those their only names? Or were they just nicknames or other names who the humans used by called them in his home world? ...
...How is it that those evil gods appeared in their home world in first place?...
...Why on earth would a God in this world spend his free time drinking liquor and buying drinks for a mere mortal?...
...Why did he open a dive bar called "Black-Dog"?
...What kind of God was this? And why was he involved in the supernatural black market buying and selling?...
...Why did he play along with his jokes instead of taking offense and awarding him a divine punishment?!...
...He understood why he used others to do jobs that did not interest him or in which he did not want to stain his hands and/or hide from his enemies. Maybe he wasn't as powerful as Mundus as to create stars with the blink of an eye, but his whole behavior...
It was insane!
It absolutely didn't seem like something a deity should do!
Nevertheless, At that insanity, he was going to embrace it!
He was having quite a bit of fun with all of this!
He just hoped that Kuoh-City, and his loved ones, wouldn't get caught up in a situation that he couldn't reverse.
"Well, I think it's time for me to go. Thanks for the confidence, old man, If I find those little shits, I'll give you a call~"
"Seriously, is that the face you're going to make after everything I told you? Boy, I just revealed some of the world's biggest secrets! What the hell is wrong with you?!"
"Hmmmmm. I'm surprised, oh, very surprised, I just don't want you to realize that~ I'm hiding it very well. Yes, I'm hiding it very well"
"You're lying, aren't you?"
At the question that the winged deity asked after hearing that neutral and bored tone from the Kusanagi, he shrugged his shoulders apathetically, so Azzazel had no choice but to be incredulous at such an attitude coming from this mere mortal.
*Sigh*: Azzazel then sighed apologetically and scratched his head as he curiously thought the following —"Definetively I must knew what happen in your head, Dante. Maybe I should analyze your memories, you don't have the personality, and thoughts of an 18 year old at all!"
"Whatever. Arrivederci, Mr. Crow Deity~"
"Crows up your ass! Oh, by the way, stop right there! I forgot! I have a new experimental toy for you!"—Before the Kusanagi left the room with indifference and a bit of sarcasm, Azzazel urged him to stay for a moment when he said that last thing with a kind of scientific excitement shining in his eyes just as he magically made a cowboy hat appear above his hands, with crystals attached to the rope surrounding the hat on top—"Huahahahahahahaha, I'm a fucking genius! With your absurd idea that seemed to be taken from a chapter of 'Jojos', I managed to make this marvel! Your new costume is ready my guinea pig!"
"Oooooooh. Let's see if your words aren't just smoke~"
To be continued...
Chapter Clarifications:
*1 I changed the story of that scene and the appearance of "Raynare" because tha plans I have for my fic. She besides a different physique, she is also a different "creature" compared to a fallen angel in the fic. A "divine ancestor" is a creature that appears in [campione!] You can go to the wiki for that series to find out what they are, or you can wait for me to explain it. However, I will do changes, so they will have differences to those in [Campione!].
Oh and no, "Raynare" has nothing to do with the goddess Ishtar from nasuverse, I took that physique because I love Rin-Tohsaka's character, and even more the character of Ishtar in the anime Fate-Grand-Order. The original appearance of "Raynare", looks too much like Akeno, and I don't want to repeat appearances in...
...well, I think you wil imagine what I whant to do.
*2 Forget about Kokabiel, it doesn't work for me. Instead, "Samiel" will appear.
*3 For those who haven't read the novels, this bar is canon of DXD, it's managed by Azzazel, I just modified it a little bit to dmc's style. That last is something that happens in dmc novel 1, but the bar is called "Bobys'cellar". That said, the "Black-Dog" will appear again in the future with more strange events :V
And I know they must be a little confused about Azzazel Divinity and Mundus/Argosax being gods, and I'm not surprised. That's one of the changes I made to the DMC/DXD lore to adapt it to the canon I'm creating for this story.
I will dedicate your time to explain this canon, and as well as a short but whole chapter to the background of this canon, so this is just a little introduction of what I plan for the story.
Best regards!
Library:
Gary/Beta-Morrison: A rather interesting fellow, who turned out to be the deity "Azzazel", the leader of the "Watchers" in Judeo-Christian myth. It seems that he is involved in the black market of magical weapons and/or that he manufactures magical weapons, in addition to owning several businesses dedicated to adult training services. From what we have seen so far, he is driven by simple worldly desires. Something that is not far from the biblical account. Toni, and he have forged a close relationship over 3 years, as they are highly compatible in many ways. It could be said that they are "buddies", but for a true "friendship" to develop between them, the most important secrets and machinations of "Azzazel" will have to come to light.
Black-Dog: A sleazy bar with exotic dancers run by Azzazel to satisfy himself and clients involved in the supernatural underworld of all kinds, as well as to do dirty business. He can usually be found drinking in the VIP area, and sometimes also fills in for the bar-man when he's in the mood. He is located just outside Kuoh City, hidden from demons by a magical barrier of unknown level.
Raynare/Yuuma: These are probably not her real names. She is apparently a fallen goddess who lost her divinity, currently in the ranks of the fallen angels under the command of one "Samiel". She is classified as a "divine ancestor", whatever that means. When there is more information on this, her profile will be updated.
Fallen-Angel: Term used to describe low-ranking angels. They are considered demigods with "degraded" divinity, as only those who are "cadres" of Grigori like Azzazel and who are revered as gods by mankind, can have that rank, which can be identified by looking at the number of wings they possess. More or less the same is true of pure angels: only those in the archangel category or higher who are revered by mankind can be considered gods.
Known Magic Armory of Toni:
Diabolical Sword: A demonic sword with a look that has "Style" according to Toni. It has a sheath that seals its diabolical powers. It has a good edge and durability, and is capable of producing a "decent" (by Toni's standards) aura and waves of demonic power on its own, if its user can master it, unlike Rebellion, which released a demonic wave when Dante channeled his own diabolical power into its blade. Apparently it can turn "unworthy" users into warriors who look like "Berserkers" with wound healing and other enhanced physical attributes at the cost of their reasoning, but its full effects, as well as its name and rank, are so far unknown for certain.
