A/N: This started out as one thing, and led into another.

The glass ain't always half empty, y'know. Sometimes, it can be completely drained. Feels kinda like that tonight – nothin' really seems to be goin' right fer me, and even though I hate feelin' sorry fer myself, I can't help it.

Y'see, it all started with this kid. He was a punk – a little scrawny guy with a shit-eatin' grin and a damned monkey tail... or it coulda been a cat tail. Who knows, now? It doesn't make any difference, really. He's kinda been gone fer a long time, nearly a year now.

Oh, yeah. The glass.

This glass I'm starin' into's been empty fer about an hour now, but that damned barkeep ain't lookin' t' fill it back up anytime soon. Not that I blame him – I've been drinkin' fer a damned long time. Ever since that punk disappeared, y'know, 'cos what else do I get t' do now that everythin's over?

I gotta keep reminding myself that he was a kid. Nothin' more. He was kinda like my kid fer a while, until he got it in his head t' go play hero. Haven't seen him since the coronation; not that I really care, y'know? He's just a kid.

Still, it kinda hurts. Figured he'd at least pay a little visit t' me an' his brothers once in a while – but what can you expect from a little punk like him? He's too busy bein' the king of Alexandria t' really pay any attention t' us.

Yeah, this glass is real empty. The barkeep's lookin' at me, and yeah, he probably thinks I should leave, but why? All he's gotta do is fill up my glass an' I'll be fine. All I gotta do is fill up my glass. But what does a defunct ol' geezer fill his glass with? I ain't handsome enough fer girls, an' I ain't rich enough fer toys, an' theatre's been kinda slow lately since Ruby left. But hell, who cares? I just gotta figure out some way t' fill up this damned glass. If the barkeep ain't gonna do it – why, I guess I just gotta go find someone t' do it fer me.

Wonder if that knight's up t' anythin' lately?
