Hi everyone! How are you? I hope you are fine.
This time I'm posting an update a bit short, and without much action. In fact it doesn't have any of that, because I wanted to give another chapter of rest to the moments that contain action, and focus more on how the characters plan to deal with the heretic god, as well as introduce a 'mythology' that I will deal with later. I introduced it to this story, as I always wanted to see Dante face a god from that 'mythology'. More information about that, in the clarifications at the end.
Anyway, in the next chapter will be a lot of action if that's what you like best. I'll post it next week.
Best regards!, and don't forget to leave me a review, it helps me a lot to get inspired, or to know what I need to correct.
Secret Mission 01: Stop Son-Goku at any cost! (3)
Note: Now I will use the quotation marks "" to differentiate actions between dialogues, and these '' plus cursive for thoughts. I will also be correcting that dialogue structure in the previous chapters. In spanish the dialogue structure i use is good, but in english I realized (thanks to the reviewers) that due to the apostrophe, it isn´t the most adequate.
Note2: I'm going to change the name of the fic to "Even The Gods May Cry" soon; not that it's a big change, but I like the sound of it better.
Note3: I've started posting the story on my wattpad account, in case anyone wants to read it with audiovisual content in between and explanatory images. You can find it under the title I mentioned, "Even The Gods May Cry", my username there is "toxi28".
Rías rarely remained silent about anything.
She generally considered herself to be strong, intelligent and shrewd enough to know what to say at all times.
But when that boy from the Kusanagi family came back to the academy with that rectangular box wrapped in black bandages...
...when she "uncovered" that "box", for the first time in a long time she didn't know what to say at all.
"Bewildered" would be a feeling close to but still far inferior to what she felt just as she momentarily removed the bandages from that "rectangle" with the intention of confirming Toni's words, which she doubted were entirely true...
...Of course you can't find a "Grimoire" of a terribly evil God buried over there like it's nothing!
When the bandages of the artifact were released for a moment by her hands in the Occult Research Club (ORC), the sensation she had that mirror plus the scene it produced, left her horrified...
...And that she was a demon!
The room did not take long to change when a 1/6 part of that "supposed" mirror became visible to everyone in there: from its frame that seemed to be made of abundant skulls of human beings was released a fog that enveloped the whole area: And after that, reality itself seemed to be altering itself by the effect of a power that Rias could not fully comprehend; the beautiful plants inside those pots in the ORC were immediately transformed into wilted blue-black leaves that no one had ever seen before; craters that were filled with red magma that seemed to emit a poisonous vapor were randomly born on the walls, the floor, and on the ceiling; bats with human faces flew through the air as that mist reformed itself, and flames in the shape of what appeared to be beasts in the form of a "hideous octopuses" snaked from one of the doors, and the frontal window, and finally...
...she swear for a second, who into the glass of that mirror, a face that was anything but human, seemed to want to go through the mirror, causing the glass to "stretch" as if it were rubber (although that shouldn't be possible) leaving the impression of something that appeared to have huge teeth, and an incredible amount of eyes. ..
-[O.O!]-After witnessing those disturbing images, the same face that the leader of the Gremory Group had appeared on almost everyone else in that room. The Rias´s Peerage, Raynare plus Tsubaki, Sona, and Saji: For a moment they watched Toni with their eyes fixed tightly on his figure, completely in disbelief. A flicker occurred after a great many seconds. It was unknown whether they were bewildered and in shock at the fact that they had witnessed this nightmarish "reality"...
...or for not knowing how he had obtained such an object with such a sinister and enormous power that caused the body hairs of some of them to stand up in fear...
...or by the fact that instead of seeming filled with deep fear and bewilderment, he seemed quite happy with such a scene. You could almost swear that for a moment he had a nostalgic look on his face as he whispered, "Ooooh, this brings back so many memories"...
...or maybe it was just that they couldn't understand how he, a human being, had not fallen into madness just like the golden-haired nun in the room. Asia had her hands clasped on her head, pulling her hair tightly and almost tearing it out; her eyes staring into the void, as she murmured in some kind of ancient tongue, uttering words incomprehensible to human language...
...Or maybe it was the combination of all of the above that was the reason for they silence...
-Rias, put the blindfold back on that thing. The nun won't be able to stand it much longer!
-I know! You didn't have to tell me!
Sona warned just as Rías came out of her initial shock. Seeing the nun behaving in that way...
...No, she shouldn't have called her that. She had a name, Asia. Yes, after all she had helped them she didn't plan to further degrade her by calling her by her title alone; maybe Asia was from an enemy faction, but at least as long as this chaotic situation was still present, she was a great ally who had saved a person who had begun to be very valuable to her, so Rias would offer her greater respect. And Asia was definitely a much less annoying and more reliable ally than the divine ancestor. Because of that, and because she felt it was incredibly dangerous not to rewrap the mirror, she sealed it with that bandage again as quickly as she could.
*Sigh*-Done that, the redhead sighed heavily once that terrible aura was no longer felt as the ORC returned to its normal appearance. She let out a fear, and disbelief that became ironic to the Ex-Sparda for many reasons. But despite appearances, she had to admit that what surprised her most of all, was to hear Asia uttering those phrases in a dialect that she could understand only thanks to her demonic ability [Language]. Apparently Asia did not know what had happened, she was somewhat confused, but still seemed sane, Hopefully thanks to her Sacred-Gear she will not fall into madness for having witnessed all this, and for having pronounced those words; words pronounced in a dialect that even among the current demonic civilization can be considered a taboo...
-Dante, what are you doing with a "Grimoire" that belonged to one of the [Great Old Ones]?! *1
-Great Old Ones? What the heck is that?
-W-W-W-W-W-What?! You don't even know where this "Grimoire" came from, and yet you have it?!
-Raising your voice, isn't going to make me magically gain knowledge of these ancients or whatever, you know?
-By the 7 deadly sins! They are Gods that thanks to many efforts are now extinct! Born out of an incredibly dark mythology, native to one of the worst places you could ever get into if you were a mere human being inhabiting this planet, Dumary Island! How in the hell did you get this?!
...A taboo, of which she try to know its origin. Though it would be useless, as she would only get vague answers from a semi-white-haired boy who would constantly deny everything and shrug his shoulders. Although for a moment, Toni seemed quite curious about that mythology; what variations could there be in this world on Dumary Island with respect to his land of origin and the religions professed in that island?: he wondered for a moment before answering with a bit of sarcasm to Rias, before becoming a bit more serious, when he tried to get to the important point.
-I told you it was buried over there, and I just pulled it out...Or maybe I took it from a forbidden shrine...or it was given to me by someone who owed me one...Or I reached the end of a rainbow, and threatened a goblin not to return his pot of gold if he didn't bring me something useful...Or maybe I found a magic lamp, and a djinn granted me a wish~. *Sigh* Pick any of those options, it doesn't matter to me. What does matter is what I told you that thing can do, so can we save the interrogations for after we've rescued the perverted boy and locked the monkey in that thing?
And so they began the conversations that would lead to the only "plan" they found "feasible" to free Hyodou and catch the Monkey King in the process. All the time, the faces of those present kept looking at the Kusanagi from time to time: some still puzzled, some thought it was some kind of Alien and not a human (Saji), some with a bit of respect (Asia and Koneko), and others with suspicions about the Kusanagi's probable benefactor; Sona deduced that someone had given him the object, although for obvious reasons she had no idea who that someone could be, while Rias was closer in her conjectures, but still could not imagine how he had met that 'person', and why 'he' would give him something so absurdly obscure and powerful. Incidentally, Raynare although she had never seen this divine artifact also questioned him because of her suspicions, but Toni again denied anything that might give a clue to his "benefactor".
After a while, which initially highlighted the complaints of Rias, and even of Sona, and Raynare regarding the origin of the "Grimoire-Mirror" plus the complaints of Saji for the rude way in which sometimes the Ex-Sparda answered his mistress (who unfortunately silenced him on more than one occasion) along with more complaints regarding how dangerous it was to use that "divine Mirror"...
...When the women leading the teenagers present came to the conclusion that they had no other way to solve this matter without that "Mirror", for it was either that, or wait for the demon kings to randomly find out about this situation at a time, which could come too late...
...Finally they put their brains into gear, and plotted all possible ideas in which they could use the "Mirror" against Sun-Wukong...
...Soon, multiple ideas converged in their heads into what they watched on the central desk of the ORC, a crystal sphere of a size that would make Uranai-Baba proud. On that sphere, constantly changing images were appearing, as if it were a television set, or the classic form of "spying" used by witches in Western folklore. Said object was just a ORC gadget, in which Raynare placed a location spell that required the use of an object that humanity conceptualized as an "image transmitter"...
...Or something like that, the truth the Kusanagi did not pay too much attention to her explanation, although he had to admit that Raynare´s knowledge about magic was much more advanced than those of Rias or the rest.
In any case, the spell was intended to find Sun-Wukong's location, which was indispensable to even have an idea of how to "approach" him.
Soon, the images on the crystal sphere that had shown very diverse natural landscapes, finally revealed some giant monkeys circling a large forest as if they were sentinels guarding something. Some of them were also drinking abysmal amounts of water from a large lake, or eating trees in one mouthful as they constantly traveled (thanks to their huge paws) rapidly for dozens and dozens of kilometers, "circling" in the vicinity of a mountain range that was soon focused by the "magic sphere", whose images began to blur (as if there was interference on a television set) when the largest volcano on the island of Hokkaido was focused from about 50 km away.
Seeing that, 'Raynare' gave her opinion when she saw the confused face of someone present. She put on a somewhat Tsundere "know-it-all" expression, when she said the following in a somewhat arrogant manner: -"Listen up, bat kids. The image is not failing because my skills are not sufficient, in case it crosses your ignorant minds. My spell has run into an immeasurable amount of magical power that is generating absurd magical resistance against my enchantment. So you don't have to be a genius to figure out that the Great Sage is near that mountain, or in its vicinity."
-Hmmmp! Your explanation was unnecessary. Just by seeing those 'Ozaru' near that region, it was more than obvious that that deity is near that place. [-_-].
-"..."-Hearing her, Raynare couldn't help but furrow an eyebrow in annoyance as she replied-"If you're so smart, why didn't you look for him with your own magic spells from the beginning, huh?"
-You!...Don't think for a second that...!
-"Rías, even though I would also like to get this 'Witch' out of here despite how useful her tricks are, focus on rescuing your servant for the time being, instead of continuing a conversation without any benefit"-...The tense atmosphere between those two was soon cut by the future leader of the sitri clan, who after a tired sigh, invited her friend to ignore the divine ancestor, who made an even more annoyed expression after hearing the black-haired devil. Sona continued speaking in her direct and serious manner, despite the expression of the divine ancestor, her eyes focused on the crystal sphere-"From what I understand about the myth of [Sun-Wukong], he is a deity who rules over monkeys, magic, chaos, deception... But more importantly, he is a god of war who represents steel. That's why he must have sought out a place like a volcanic area as his 'area of operations'."
- "Eh? How can a juggling monkey have a symbolism like that? And what's so important to him about a volcanic zone?"-Obviously the Kusanagi didn't understand anything of what was expressed at the end of that sentence, although he was grateful for the Sitri's intervention to stop the incipient fight between the redhead, and the divine ancestor. Incidentally, the personality of [Sona] still provoked feelings of "discomfort" in the Ex-Sparda for some reason. Perhaps she reminded him a bit of a certain ex-brother.
Hearing the boy's doubt, [Sona] picked up her glasses before replying with a bitter smile in between for a moment-"Kusanagi-san, If you had focused more on reading rather than slacking off, you could analyze that, even without having deeply read the background that formed the legend of the monkey king-" A sigh filled with disappointment, plus a negative shake of the head afterwards (which appeared after having observed how Toni shrugged his shoulders), she explained again with her classic attitude-"I'll try to make it as understandable to you as possible for your educational level. The minerals that mankind smelted and forged into iron and steel through 'fire', both in the past and in the present are used as weapons for war; And war is a conflict that mankind has tried to explain through the deities of war; Humans constantly blame their 'disagreements' on those entities born of their imagination as an excuse. That's why every 'steel' god, has a primordial connection to fire, so a place like a volcano or volcanic vents must be very beneficial to their magic."
- "Oh, I see...Fire is always good for a psychopath, I understand ~"-The ex-sparda's face plus the steady nod of his head expressed quite the opposite of what had playfully come out of his mouth. He had only understood half of the information who the Sitri had tried to get across to him.
And that's why [Sona] sighed again with disappointment before addressing him again. Akira-Antoni-Kusanagi had been, and still is, the ultimate failure she has had as a 'Senpai'. She could never reform him, she could never make him see the good of education, of enlightenment, of the school, and the institution, and that to her was unacceptable as student council president. She didn't fully understand how anyone could place so little value on study, and constant growth through information, which to her was an equally valid growth as that obtained through physical training, which that mysterious boy had apparently developed to a great extent-"Whether you understand it or not *sigh*, I theorize that the deity must be using that area as a 'means' to accelerate the process of regaining his power. Maybe he's looking for an extra source of magic granted by his connection to the fire with the intention that it will help him to completely break the 'seal' I was told about, and that...is worrisome...if he's already terribly powerful with that portion of his divine force still blocked, I don't want to imagine what he'll be capable of with his full potential unlocked."
Hearing her conclusion, everyone in the room immediately acquired serious faces, except for Raynare who seemed to already know that, and for the Ex-Sparda, who smiled slightly after being glad to have [Sona] present. She was indeed quite smart, analytical, and incredibly insightful, and that must have helped a lot in 'getting' some countermeasure.
-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-
After a few dozen minutes, which involved much frustration plus various discussions of plans that would most likely fail immediately...
...The smartest one present in the ORC, opened her mouth again after a deep silence extended quite a bit after everyone present was left without any idea at all...
-It's as I feared *sigh*...
-"?"-Many turned to see her with confused faces, while Rías asked her with an expression full of complex emotions in between-"What do you mean, [Sona]?"
-"That there is no safe method of getting one of us close enough to the Monkey King to freely use that dangerous 'Mirror' without him realizing that we are carrying a mysterious artifact. Unless of course, someone here possesses a ring or pouch with a pocket dimension, or something of the sort, strong enough to conceal a 'divine grimoire'-"Seeing how everyone shook their heads, she continued speaking, but this time she placed one of her index fingers on her chin, deductively-"Not to mention that even if that someone managed to conceal the 'grimoire' and get close to him. ...he or she, should be fast enough so that the Great Sage doesn't scape or kill them before releases the seal of the 'mirror'. Therefore, the only possible way that I have just devised after having analyzed 263 scenarios, remains unfeasible. The most ideal method for our objectives: Rescue the member of your family, Rias, and end the disaster in our territories, would be a 'classic' 'Search and Rescue' mission with a team formed by a single 'vanguard' created with very few members, who were fast enough to avoid and distract the 'Ozaru', while one of the members of that vanguard, gets close enough to the divine king to trap him in the 'grimoire'. And given our current magic level, and combat stats, it would take a miracle to meet these conditions. Our success rate if we were to attempt to run towards him on the ground, has a 100% chance of failure, even with your knight's speed, Rias; Whereas if we fly towards him from an altitude above 10 thousand meters, our success rate for avoiding the 'Ozaru' rises to over 50%, but once we descended towards 'Mount Asahi', Sun-Wukong would see us coming with the 'Mirror'. We would need all the luck in the world favoring us to catch him. *Sigh*"
Obviously her sentence left some surprised by her keen intellect, and others worried/anguished by her dire conclusions. Rias placed both hands over her face, and let out her feelings through forced breaths, plus a sad face in between.
On the other hand, the ex-sparda became thoughtful after listening to her; his great foolishness, and an unbreakable will, did not allow him to give up so easily. [Sona] had analyzed 263 scenarios! And that, he had to admit, surprised him a little. Was she some kind of super genius?...But more importantly, she never said that this plan was completely impossible. Their chances were slim, but it was still possible. He just had to think of a variation of 'search and rescue' that she hadn't yet imagined, and that might increase their chances of success.
-'In short: we must be able to hide the mirror in plain sight, be quick, and act almost instantly once we get close to the Monkey. You annoying little devil genius, you've given me the best idea ever!' -And after a few minutes after leaving the ORC's room to relax a bit by taking a breath of fresh air, and drinking a carbonated beverage he bought from one of the academy's vending machines, the above was one of Kusanagi's thoughts when his eyes focused (from the hallway of the school building he was in) on a giant billboard hanging from a building found on a street near the academy, which had the following message next to a drawing of an airplane, plus a generic flight attendant: "Kamiya Airlines- Our trips to Kyoto will be 50% off in the fall. Book now!"
*Open with force*-Less than a minute later, with a 'big' idea already in his head, the ex-sparda loudly and quickly opened the ORC´s front door, leaving bewildered with his 'enlightened' expression to those present.
Then, as all eyes focused on his person, the corner of his mouth turned up in a smile as he said, "Hey Guys...have any of you ever used your demonic power on a motorcycle? Nup? Well, you're going to use it on something better."
-?
- Does anyone know of any airfields near kuoh? Although, come to think of it, a military airfield would be better...
?-Confused by questions and statements that didn't seem to have any relation to the meeting they were having, most of them raised their eyebrows after hearing it...
!-Except for [Sona], who managed to grasp a 'piece' of the idea that the mysterious boy was having. It seemed that his knowledge about demonic power, was deeper than she thought, which surprised her even more. Now she wished she knew more about his background. Even she, she had to admit, had overlooked that possibility. It was pretty crazy, but it might actually work...
...Or at least the success rate with that 'plan' had risen from 0.5% to 15%.
It was madness! Absolute madness!
There was no other word to describe it?
Or maybe there was?
How about...?... A suicide mission?... Yes, that was it!
That was the right word! That was a suicide mission!
The craziest suicide mission she had ever seen initiated in her 1000+ years of life as a divine ancestor!
Why had she even come to see them take off to their deaths?!...
...True, she had to see it in person to believe it...
...She couldn't understand how some brats had put their last hopes in a plan full of so many "holes"?
That up ahead could hardly be considered a plan!
And to top it all off, she couldn't stop the boy she had been protecting up to this point from getting into such an abomination of an idea...
...Now she would have to think of another way to find Azzazel when the Monkey King got tired of creating chaos and destruction on the island of Hokkaido. There was a 99% chance that they would die. Maybe if she asked for an audience at Grigori? No, that would take forever, if she survived. Hmmmm, And she would most likely make it if she hid long enough...
...In any case, she definitely wasn't going to participate in that scheme the "Cowboy" had gotten himself into. She would just be throwing his life away...
...No, what is she thinking? He didn't get involved in that...
...That crazy kid suggested that! That whole suicidal plan came from the mind of a young man less than 20 years old! A mind that definitely shouldn't belong to a child! she doesn't know when, but he had to have had a screw loose at a very young age!
And to top it off...Is he smiling?...
...Are you serious?! He's smiling at a time like this?!
How insane can a human being be?!
It's one thing for him to have become a mercenary at such a young age, but this is bordering on a whole other level!
'What the hell is wrong with that mortal?. And since when does a kid know how to pilot a machine from the mortal world as complex as that?'
*Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca! *-When the sun was at its lowest point, with the curtain of night about to rise, Those were the chaotic thoughts that "Raynare" had in the moment before and after the "start-up" of a military grade helicopter cargo model type [Mi-26T2V]. She saw the aircraft about 20 meters away, about to take off in the outskirts of a Japanese military airfield near the city of Kuoh, with "Toni" still visible from the window leading to the pilot's seat, and Rías next to him, in the co-pilot's seat; Toni for a long time while the war machine was turned on, had a slight smile on his face, probably caused by the fact of being about to handle a "toy born for destruction based on lead", meanwhile, the redhead and the rest of those who accompanied them in that ship, were quite thoughtful and with serious doubts despite the 2 huge machine guns with "anti-tank" caliber ammunition that the helicopter was carrying plus a kind of rectangular box wrapped in black bandages; those things were visible for a moment from the 2 open side doors of the ship, before they were slowly closed by Kiba, and Akeno, who were the other two passengers on that ship. Of course, those two machine guns couldn't harm a god or his/her minions, but they were still quite showy, much showier than the mysterious "mirror" they were already carrying on board. By the way, Koneko and Asia were nowhere to be seen, probably because they needed to be few in numbrer to carry out this plan, or because they two were the youngest and most inexperienced or because Rias and Dante refused respectively to let them come on such a dangerous plan, where their powers would be of little help in an aerial mission, which had only one chance of success.
*Niauuuuuu!* *Niauuuuuu!**Niauuuuuu!* - On the other hand, a simple plane had just taken off not far from there, carrying Sona and Tsubaki as pilot and co-pilots respectively. Said craft seemed to be heading east, towards some certain place...
Or at least Raynare thought those were their names. She had done her best to learn their names well...
...If they were brave or stupid enough to go and confront a god in things like that, the least she could do was to remember the names of those crazy enough to confront a heretic god like that.
*Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!*
-Until next time, crow girl! Or maybe I should say, chicken girl~! At least take good care of Asia until i´ll back!
*Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!*
-You're not coming back! Do you understand? You're not coming back! Even with that mirror, you're going straight to your death! Stop it once and for all! Stop it all you knuckleheaded devils! The red dragon isn't worth such a miserable death!
*Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!*
-What do you say?! You say, you want to come?! Do you regret not entering the most epic mission of the century?! We still have a seat left for your feathered ass~! I remind you that I don't have as good an ear as you or the devils! Do you understand that the sound of this "babe" propellers burst eardrums?! Anyway, it's time to get this baby on the road! Guys, strap yourselves in, and let Uncle Dante take you on the best train straight to hell there is! Shit, I wish I could play that song!
*Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!**Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!* *Taca!*
Having heard all that (which had left the other guys inside the ship quite worried, except for Rias who would be very upset, and would soon complain to him for his lack of seriousness), Raynare slapped her face hard and dragged her hand across her face.
She didn't understand why he was so crazy, she didn't understand why he cared so little about his life, she didn't understand why he was being such a joker at such a time, she didn't understand where he had learned to operate such a machine, and she still didn't quite understand why they needed those aerial vehicles. Of course, she was obviously unaware that a difficult first life had transformed him into a "strange man"; that sarcasm and jokes helped him to deal with moments of extreme difficulty or with great emotional charge, and also she unaware who in his first life he learned enough about aircraft navigation because when you have to transport criminals and gangsters to certain places or hunt them down, you need to know how to move in any vehicle.
In any case, the only thing that "Raynare" knew for sure was that this mortal was definitely a mystery to her...
...Although she had to admit that, despite how crazy he was, she would have liked to know him a little more...
...He didn't lack courage. In fact, he had plenty of it. That was something she had come to admire in him in this short time...
...Or maybe that bravery was his madness?
...In any case, she could no longer "investigate" this mortal. He was headed for imminent death, on a vessel of ordinary human steel.
Thinking about the latter, she still didn't understand how those devils had accepted this idea...
...Which made her feel a little guilty about the fact that unholy beings were trying to be the heroes of the regional population, instead of beings like angels...
...A kind of existence to which she once belonged.
Soon the helicopter disappeared from her field of vision, so she turned around and levitated towards the opposite direction...
...But not before turning her head and taking a last look in the direction in which they had departed...
...What if maybe she watched them from afar a little longer?...
...That idea crossed her mind for a moment, but then she shook her head and continued on her way.
To be continued, shortly...
Author's message:
I don't have much to say, other than I hope you liked the chapter despite how short it was.
Don't forget to check out the clarifications and the library, so you don't get lost with some 'definitions'
best regards!
Chapter Clarifications:
*1:Yes, I will take the 'Lovercraftian' mythology as another mythology that coexists in the story of this fic, but I will not go too deep into it, because it's too complex, so in the time in which the events of this story are taking place, most of those gods were killed due to a war that happened a long time ago.
After, I will properly expose that, when the day comes when Dante will face a Lovercraftian god. Remember that I put that Dumary Island also exists in this world, although with certain variations that I will reveal later, so just as the dmc lore says about that place: the inhabitants of that island, having migrated from many parts of Europe and Asia ended up forming a dark and strange religion after settling in those lands.
And later, a guy who accidentally got stranded in that dangerous land, would manage to escape later from the island: H.P. Lovercraft was his name, and he would try to tell the world about the gods they worshipped there...
...More or less in that way I will introduce the Lovercraftian gods to the story. I thought that this idea could become something interesting, so I took advantage of the connection with Dumary Island, which in the original lore of DMC2, uses many terms and concepts from Lovercraft's lore for the demons that appear there. And by the way I will teach a bit of that 'mythology' to those who don't know the work of the good 'Lovercraft'.
By the way, for those who don't know, the mirror of Nitocris, is a magical artifact that appears in a tell of the 'myths of Lovercraft'. And in the original story, it doesn't do exactly that, but in this history I gave it other effects, hehe. I hope you like this idea.
Library:
Grimoire: Grimoires are ancient divine-class devices/artifacts that possess magic, wisdom, or ancient knowledge thanks to being infused with the power of a god's [Authority]. However, unlike how they are commonly depicted, a grimoire need not be a book. In fact, before books existed, there were other ways of 'storing' magic, so many grimoires have very different forms than one commonly imagines. The oldest ones are carved in stone or metal, and others appear to be household artifacts such as a mirror...
The abilities of a Grimoire depend on the specific nature of the Magic infused in it. For example if someone possessed the grimoire of a certain Prometheus, who is a trickster god, he/she would have in his/her hands an artifact with the power of [Steal] ; its user would be able to temporarily steal one or more [Authorities] from another god.
Finally, some Grimoires may be created by a god voluntarily for some specific reason, but most often they are obtained due to the death of a god; sometimes one of the authorities of the slain god remains on the mortal plane 'physically', taking a form that matches the myth that gave rise to it, but appearing to be made of stone: For example, after the death of [Zeus], his shield [Aegis] might prevail as a 'grimoire'; in that case, the divine artifact, would look like a shield made of stone, or something of the sort that could then be used by some human being or other creature lucky enough to find it.

Thank you for leaving your message :) In time dante will become as powerful as he once was, but the abilities he gains will come from the gods he kills, and not from any remnants of his own strength or past abilities. And about the demonic sword 'Dante', I better not give you that spoiler hehe.
Best regards!
kerrowe:
Yes, it's more about being reborn into a new world. Thanks for your advice about the apostrophes, I'm going to change that structure of the dialogues from now on. I decided to make some changes in Dante's personality to adapt it better with the story I planned, and also for the future romance, although I try to keep the essence of the character. I hope you liked the next chapters, and if you didn't, I thank you for at least had leaving reviews.
have a nice weekend!
KingWrex:
thanks for leaving your message :), I'm very happy to know that you're loving the story :D. And thanks for your advice about my grammar. About your question, you'll have to wait a couple of chapters to find out hehe
have a nice weekend!

Yes, you´re right. Capcom and itsuno have been increasing the strength of Dante's base form to levels that could well equal the mundus of dmc1 or even more powerful XD. And his SDT, could already be considered low-mid multiversal level or something like that, according to DMC canon...O.o ... There are simply no logical ways to measure that power anymore XD
Best regards!
Answering your question:
The following could be considered a small spoiler, so read it if spoilers don't bother you: Samiel is another name given to Samael in Jewish texts. I gave him this name in order to prevent readers from getting an idea of what I have planned; my story will not always follow the story of the events of DXD, so Kokabiel will be replaced by my Samael, who is different from the one in the original DXD novel, for certain reasons that you will understand when it comes to that confrontation. And obviously, that will alter in the future the situation that could have happened with the original Samael of DXD.
