I do not own Sam or Dean or 'Dad'. Just for fun!
If you have flames or questions, ect., ect. please post them or PM me:) I'd be happy to chat or answer any questions:)
Why did you choose to be a lawyer? Simple question. But why couldn't Sam answer it? Did he not want to? Was he afraid? Did he give up? Why?
Sam was sitting in the Stanford Library, trying to do his latest essay, Why I Chose to be a Lawyer?. It was harder then it seemed. Sam shifted in his seat. The library would be closing soon and he needed to finish his work.
Maybe it was because Sam liked the theory of fighting in a peaceful way instead of kicking supernatural ass, as his Dad and Dean did. Maybe it was the thrill of figuring out a case, the feeling he was so used to when he found out how to kill something demonic. Maybe it was because he couldn't get bloodied up in the court room but he could in the basement of a haunted house. Maybe it was because he liked the idea of having someone say who won and who lost the battle, instead of it being decided by who was still alive at the end of the fight. Too many maybes. He needed a solid answer.
Sam thought back to the days of kicking demonic ass. Easy, well that was if you knew what you were doing. And Sam knew what he was doing. He always did. He always had an answer.
Sam moved in his seat again. The library was closing in five minutes and he had two words on his paper: Samuel Winchester. Alright, let's get to work. Why did I choose to be a lawyer instead of a cook or a doctor? Because I like helping people in battles. Because Sam Winchester likes to fight in a peaceful way.
Sam had an idea and started scribbling his essay on the paper.
Once he was finished the one paragraph essay read:
Samuel Winchester

Why I Chose to be a Lawyer
I chose to be a lawyer because I like to help people by fighting. Of course I could be a cop or something else instead, but I like arguing. I love making my point and being declared right at the end of the battle. I love prevailing. I love that. And that's why I chose to be a lawyer. Because my father was a lawyer before my mother died. And because my big brother, whom I love with my life, fights evil things all the time. Not people but things. Of course that's why he and my father stay together all the time, because people think he's crazy. And he is, in a good way. But I want to follow in their footsteps. I want to be someone who helps people. I want to be like them, while being myself at the same time. I want to be a Winchester, fighter of the evil and protector of the good. And I will prevail. I will win the fight. I will.
Sam closed his books and put them in his backpack. He was ready to turn this in. He might come off as crazy when the professor read it, but at least he'd get the humor vote. And the sympathy vote, for his brother was crazy. And any other vote there was to get. And that was good.
But as Sam walked down the street toward his apartment, he knew why he wanted to be a lawyer. Because he was and always would be many things. But there were two most important. One, because he was and always would be protector of the good and destroyer of the evil. And two, because he was and always would be a Winchester. And even though it never seemed like it, he welcomed that fact with loving arms.
