2. Told you I can fight

Be good…be good

6.30 in the morning. Way too early to be awake according to Mirra's dictionary. In her world, sleep is the most important thing. So she found that waking up at this hour should be illegal and against all laws and books of religion.

And it was also the time where many souls of the Heart pirates were still lazing around on their bed, denying the fact that they need to rise soon to face another challenging - or boring - day and do whatever they always do by being a pirate, so why should her be awake then?

But say whatever she wants. She can't run from it. She'd made an agreement - without thinking properly - and now she was bound to fulfil it.

"Huuarrgghhhh~" she stretched while yawning.

Sitting silently on her bed, she started to regret the decision of her life, which was to cook for the crew. Who was in the right and sane mind will offer to cook for 14 people - excluding herself - thrice a day?

She didn't know. And she definitely didn't want to ask anyone for an answer because it will only pinpoint to how idiot she was.

And for the past three days, it was much easier to be the one that instructing and giving order on how to cook to the cooks of the day - thanks to her injuries that still limiting her movement - instead of holding the knife and chopping the ingredients and start frying herself. And funny thing was, she learnt that no matter how many tips or how watchful she was with each of the cook of the day, they still managed to ruin the food even by a bit and she decided since she didn't get paid to make sure the food is perfect, she didn't bother to fix it.

She sighed.

But now that she was getting better and mostly healed, the luxury was no longer available.

"I should have excluded breakfast in my promise. I hate waking up early." She flexed her little fingers that no longer needed to be bandaged.

"After all it just a breakfast. Don't tell me they can't even prepare a normal meal? They can just spread peanut and butter over the bread, and that's still counted as a decent meal", the thought pounded in her head while she made her bed.

Quickly, she went for a shower and changed into a light purple sleeveless shirt and a long black jean that followed her legs' shapes and ended above her ankles. She wore plain black sandal. Then she leaved her room, the room that once according to the captain stored all of his humans organs' collection before he moved them for her.

Mirra hummed to herself following her favourites song to lift up her mood.

- - -

Where is she? Hasn't she wake up yet? The crew gonna gather- the creaking sound of an opened door to the galley interrupted Law's thought.

He looked up from his reading, eyeing the female that casually walked in. She gave a single glance, nodded her head as a small greeting before disappeared to the kitchen, which was separated by a counter in the middle. She started to take out all the ingredients needed.

Law watched her back as she moved here and there getting stuff ready.

"Is this normally your waking up hour?" Law asked when she bent down to grab the pan under the counter.

Mirra turned to look passed her shoulder before facing forward again.

"Nope. I usually wake up later than this. I'm not a morning person, but since that I promised to cook for you guys, this is the earliest I can be," she replied.

She then tiptoed to reach a big bowl from one of the cabinets above and started to pour flour in it.

Law took a mental note to himself at the difference in height of the girl with the cabinets.

"The crew normally eat at 7 am. You can't get it done by that time if you don't wake up early", Law casually reprimanded as he watched she cracked few eggs into the bowl, then skilfully threw the shells into the dustbin without looking. Then she poured the milk without even bothered to measure it and started whisking.

Pancakes.

The ravenette captain guessed.

Mirra turned, hand still whisking as she leaned against the counter.

"Well sorry, but I guess from today onwards, you and your crew will be having breakfast at 7.30, more or less".

Law narrowed his eyes upon listening to her daring answer. He was expecting to see her whimpering or stuttering, or at least shows some fear through her green hue but, nothing. Mirra wasn't scared of him at all. His signature death glare wasn't affecting her and she didn't flinch even a tiny bit. She nonchalantly turned forward again and tapped the whisker onto the bowl before heating up the pan.

This woman...

"Why are you here?" she then suddenly asked.

"To ensure you are not putting anything weird inside the food."

I don't trust her. If she tries to do anything to my crew I won't hesitate to cut her head, Law thought.

..

Tch. That means I can't do anything to their food. That explains why he was here whenever I was here to assist his crew in cooking.Mirra silently scoffed.

Her gaze hardened as she settled to a plan.

I have to gain their trust first. Let's play along for a while...

"Oii, wake up. Aren't you guys waking up?" Penguin knocked on the metal door harshly, causing the knocking sound rang loudly within the room.

The grunting noise answered him as the occupants inside grumbled.

"Wake up, dumbasses the day has started. You guys need to take place those that have night shift yesterday." Penguin once again sounded.

Few of them pulled out themselves from the bed, but not with curses here and there refusing to face reality. But the number of those that awake were lesser than those that still asleep, including Bepo himself. So Penguin sighed as he didn't want to be the one got scolded and punished by the captain for not doing their job.

And an idea suddenly popped out on how to wake them up.

Penguin took a deep breath, coughing few times to ready his vocal. His hand grabbed the handle to the room's door ready to bolt away.

"Mirra is cooking today so in case you guys forgot the food gonna be on first-come-first-serve basis."

Once said he disappeared immediately, pretty much hearing shouts and rushing footsteps resonated within the thin walls. Everyone then poured out from the room, some even stuck at the doorframe as they fight for who get to use the bathroom first.

- - -

Law could feel all the way to his feet that the floor was rattling. He raised an eyebrow questioning the situation then realized the crew must have been awoken in an unique way that caused every one of them to wake up simultaneously and aggressively. If he wasn't wrong Penguin had a night duty last night so he must be the one waking them up.

Law rolled his eyes, at the same time he watched the female took a momentary pause looking at the floor, before back to her cooking.

Bet she felt it too.

10 minutes after the mess hall started to get noisy. The sounds of the creaking door opened and closed many times became the casual occurrence. The door needed to be oiled. Law had taken that as a note many times before but because of his crew he always forgot.

One by one of the crewmates took a sit in front of him, saluting him and wishing him a good morning as he casually acknowledged them. When the numbers getting too many and the noise getting louder some of them started to whine, because the food was yet to done and their shifts were starting soon. Law was still on his seat, casually reading his hook but the truth was he was watching each of the female's movement.

"Good morning, Mirra-chan. Need help?" Shachi suddenly appeared, leaning over at the counter and Law scoffed for staring at his butt.

Turning on her heels, Mirra gave a soft smile wishing him a good morning too. She saw from his shoulder that Penguin was sleeping, snoring with mouth wide opened and a bubble coming out of his nose.

She snickered.

"Yeah, could you bring this hot tea to the front? And also some plates and cups for your friends?"

"Sure will do, Mirra-chan." Shachi replied.

When he was done Shachi returned to the kitchen with a cup, requested it to be refilled with coffee courtesy to his captain. Mirra nodded her head, hand swiftly accepting the cup and put it onto the table before getting back to arrange the last piece of the meal on a wide plate. She smiled in satisfy, looking up to Shachi kindly.

"Help me to carry these two to the front, will you?" She pursed her lips to the two plates in front. Shachi's eyes trailed to the said direction but he sweat dropped upon seeing it.

Sandwiches...

How and where did she found the breads? No way, captain gonna murder them...

His face turned place because having breads into the sub is prohibited. And they have stashed away the starchy food at somewhere else to avoid Law's rage. But Mirra wasn't informed about this so she didn't know.

Shachi wanted to tell her but she already walked away with another two plates of a heap of pancakes on each. Knowing the impeding danger Shachi relented, because in any ways Law will found out about it because Mirra will definitely question him if he didn't bring it to the front.

And something has been nagging behind his head telling him that the captain was well aware because he has been watching the red-haired preparing the food this whole morning. So he rushed out immediately, placing the plates onto the table and retreated back to his seat, right before Mirra could make it to the table.

Though the female blinked in confused but once she placed the two plated onto the table, she saw everyone's eyes went sparkling. She took a step back, and the crew immediately leaped forward and grabbed whatever pieces they managed to get.

What was two mountains of pancakes a second ago were left into nothing but some lone crumbles.

"Wow this is the best! I have never tasted the most delicious breakfast ever!!"

"Right? I want more!!" They squealed.

"Hey stop stealing mine!"

"Mirra-san can you make fish-flavoured pancakes?" Bepo requested.

"Shut up bear no one wants to eat fish-pancakes!" But then his request was rejected.

"But I do!"

"Majority will win and I'll say nobody wants it so you lose..." One of them shouted.

"So yummy!!~" and another one screamed.

Mirra watched in silent. Stunned at first, but then she drew a small smile upon her face, laughing lightly finding it to be amusing. It reminded her of someone. Or some people, to be exact.

But then she remembered. Law's coffee.

Quickly she went back to the kitchen and poured the coffee from the coffee pot maker and brought it back to the still waiting captain.

"Aren't you going to eat?" She asked at the same time she served him.

Law looked up from under his eyelashes, dissing at the answer he's gonna reply.

"I don't eat bread," he said while staring with distaste at the only available food left.

Mirra quirked her eyebrow and hummed, about to question his choice of hating bread, but she erased the thought because whatever Law likes or dislikes has nothing to do with her and not worthy enough to risk her valuable life just by questioning him.

"Mind waiting? I'll make some fried rice for you. We still have a little bit leftover cold rice from yesterday but only enough for a person or two."

Law fully looked up, eyeing her green hues as he brought the cup to his lips.

He nodded.

The 'silent killer' strikes again! A noble man from theReiyaFamily had been killed, stabbed right to the heart and was left bleeding to death. The marine suspects the murderer to be the infamous 'silent killer',sincethere was a yellow daisy painted with blood left at the crime scene. There were no other victims and witnesses -

BAM!

"Ouch!"

Mirra fell on the floor, whining as the pain shot up from her bottom when she bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry Mirra-san. I didn't see you there," Bepo immediately held out his paw to pull her up.

Gazing up, and knowing that the person in guilty was the fluffy ball, Mirra couldn't be mad at all and she jumped on him, hugging him tightly.

"It's okay Bepo. I was the one in fault here. I was busy reading that I didn't focus on my way and had to bump into you," she squealed while hugging the bear more. "You're so soft~~"

"I'm sorry," Bepo apologized sadly.

Mirra giggled, "what are you sorry for? Don't be, silly~" and released him after petting his head.

"Where are you going?"

"To the control room. How about you Mirra-san?" The polar bear asked.

"Ehh, I don't know. I don't have specific area to go. Mind if I tag in?"

"Sure, let's go together." Bepo was quick to agree.

Mirra smiled lightly, though a little bit saddened at the thought of how easy the polar bear to warm up to her.

When reach the control room, she saw Shachi, Penguin and Law were discussing about their next destination. A map was in the centre on the table, as the three older men drew circle and wrote some notes on it as they were discussing.

Not wanting to disturb them she then plopped onto one of the couches, continue her reading while Bepo stood straight not knowing what to do. He eventually walked to her.

"What are you reading, Mirra-san?" Bepo asked, watching the red-haired female too nosedived into the news.

At hearing the name Shachi looked up, silently thought to himself.

Another nerd,as his gaze redirected back to his captain that currently tapping his finger to his chin.

Mirra looked away from her reading.

"Oh you know, just some infamous silent killer, has been killing another victim again last week. Apparently, the marines just found the dead body yesterday. How slow can they be? If the person is an important person, won't they have found them earlier?"

"Was the person really important?" Bepo tilted his head.

"Yeah... He was from Reiya family. You know the family that monopolized the production of sea stone years ago? Well he has a strong diplomatic relationship with the marines because he is the source to all of the marines' sea stone weapons. But he's dead now."

Bepo gasped.

"So there won't be any sea stone's weaponry making?"

Mirra looked away from the happy face of his. "The production will still continue. The marine actually already has access to the production. His death is meaningless anyways."

"Oh reallly?" Bepo solemnly replied.

Mirra creased her eyebrows seeing the bear in sad.

"Why? What are you sad Bepo?"

"Because captain is a devil fruit user. If there's no more production of sea stone weapons then he won't be at risk."

...

"I see... But that means your captain will be invincible. It's good that there's something that can put him to stop, and any other devil fruit user. If not, imagine how much damage that those bad guys with devil fruit users can cause." Mirra casually spoke.

Their conversation somehow caught the attention of the other three males in the room as they turned and faced her. To think she would just speak about being grateful of still having the sea stone weapons to weaken their captain like she was talking about the weather while the said captain was just few feet away from her and his loyal crew just around... Talk about bravery.

Shachi coughed, as he suddenly felt the silence was too awkward and he had to divert the attention to something new.

"Damn, he's at it again? I wouldn't want to bump into him." So he spoke out his opinion regarding the killer.

He successfully gained everyone's attention as Penguin now turned to face him, hands crossed in front of his chest as he nodded, agreeing.

"The witnesses said that he did his job quickly and flawlessly. A single strike and the victims died", Shachi mouthed.

"He?" Penguin quirked. "How you know it's a guy? It could be a woman."

"A woman? He can even take down that strong marine officer last time and it raised her bounty three times more. If the killer is a woman, she must be a hell of strong."

"But she left a daisy flower in every of her crime. What kinda guy would use flower as a trademark? It's the girl's thing." Penguin disagreed with Shachi's sexism that woman can't be strong as well.

Penguin had a point. But he was also being sexist by referring flower only for women.

"But does gender matter here? I think it is more important to know who's the assassin targeting. It doesn't look like the assassin has any specific targets; marines, noble peoples, pirate hunters and pirates, the assassin doesn't seem to have a specific pattern that we can guess their interests," Bepo butted in. He stood next to the captain and reread the map that he laid out for everyone to see.

"Maybe the assassin has a grudge with the victims", Mirra said.

"Or political reason", Law tried.

"Or out of sadistic behaviour", Bepo muttered.

Law blinked. He felt like Bepo was mocking him when he said that. He had to look up to his companion's face to make sure he was right, but Bepo's poker face was another master in art. He was good in pretending to be innocent.

...

"So, your point is?" Penguin and Shachi asked after a while, looking at the polar bear as well.

"It means anyone can be the assassin's target," Mirra spoke from her seat. Her eyes were still glued to the paper as she changed to the next page.

"And that include you guys as well. I'll say, the assassin could be targeting any of you right now, so better worried about yourselves rather than the assassin's gender, right?" She lifted up her head, smiling dubiously for a second before back to the newspaper.

Law narrowed his gaze. He watched the serene look of the female that had gotten back her focus on the news. He tried to find the underlying meaning behind her tone. But, was there even any?

Penguin and Shachi meanwhile exchanged glances as realization hit them. Mirra was right. The assassin could be actually after them at the moment. And if they aren't careful enough someone's blood gonna be spilled.

- - -

The next day passed rather quick, as usual. Being under the water about 400m deep from the surface, there was nothing much to do. Most of the crew of the Heart Pirates were busy minding their own businesses.

Mirra meanwhile, was bored to death for going up and down and up and down and up and down doing nothing. Her duty only limited to early morning, afternoon and before sunset hours so beyond that was her free time. So she definitely get bored easily when nothing to do and no one to talk to.

And even worse, her weapons were confiscated since the first day she was here. Law's reason was because she won't need them as long as she's inside the sub, because nothing could happen. But the truth was she knew that he was only being wary on her, and just to be on the safe side just incase she decided to beheaded everyone.

She scoffed.

Mirra's body slide down from her leaning position against the wall as she sighed for the nth time. She pouted her lips and huffed out her fringes from her forehead to give access to her vision. The captain was busy attending someone, Uni and Penguin were fixing the broken door of the bathroom (thanks to Mirra), Shachi was the one who got attended by the said captain (which was caused by her as well), and Bepo...well Bepo was here, sleeping soundly with bubble coming out from his snot.

Suddenly Mirra found that watching his bloating stomach rose and fell to be interesting. But it only lasted for a good five seconds before she went back growling in boredom. And she sighed again.

What is so fun of being a pirate with a submarine? I can't even hang out outside and draw. It feels so bad to get stuck in this small tin 24 hours...

She sighed again.

Bepo waa by her side, sleeping. Narrowing her eyes she suddenly felt the urge to experiment on something. And that was on how fluffy Bepo is. She remembered seeing that ravenette captain leaned against his stomach during his afternoon nap, and nothing tempted her more than to try it. So slowly, she leaned. She placed her head onto the stomach, gently so not to awake him. And the moment her cheek touched his fur she truly succumbed to the infinite fluffiness in a second.

Suddenly a painful scream rang and resonated within the metal walls before she could squeal in excitement. She perked up. Same scream, but this time the tone a little bit lower than previous. She realized. It was Shachi's voice.

Snickered, she knew the man deserved it. And she was contented with whatever had happened to him as her revenge. She twirled her red strands between her fingers, recalling back her what had happened earlier that caused Shachi to be in this state.

- Flashback... -

Mirra had just awaken from her afternoon nap, sweating furiously for some reason. She decided to shower to cool off her body. With sleepiness still clouding her mind, she entered one of the available bathrooms and started to strip off from her cloth, failing to notice that the red-haired guy was in that bathroom as well, was fixing his hair.

Shachi had the guts to just stood there while gawking at her without making any attempt to make his presence noticeable so she could leave.

Fortunately, being an alert person, the sensation of having someone staring at her back made her to turn, and as she saw Shachi was standing behind her with red face and bloody nose she got irked. A vein popped out on her forehead and within a second, the poor guy was kicked right to the stomach, sending him flying out of the bathroom causing the door to break at the hinge.

The commotion caused almost everyone to gather at the scene, only to see Mirra, wrapped in her grey fluffy towel was walking out through the broken door, slowly towards Shachi. Her green hues glowed like a pair of sharp devil eyes, locked onto Shachi as her hair somehow dancing and floating around despite the absent of the wind.

They swore they saw a reminiscent of demon behind her, lusting for blood of her victim. And none of them is dare enough to calm her down. Had it not for Law to intervene and forced her into another bathroom everyone was pretty sure there'll be blood splattered around the sub and Shachi will be marked as the fallen comrade on this very day.

- Back to present -

A sudden shock received by the submarine startled the female, waking her up from her light slumber and the sleepy polar bear. She heard rushing footsteps vibrated throughout the floor, and a loud siren screaming for emergency followed by a report from the person in charge of steering the sub.

"We got hit!"

"There are pirates at the direction of the south! They're aiming to take us down!"

"Someone gets the captain!!"

Mirra immediately sprang up from the floor, leaving Bepo in wondered. She ran to the deck with the rest of the crew, then to be greeted by a group of pirates that had successfully landed on the deck. Eyes widely looking around, she screened the current situation to decide whether joining the fight worth a penny or not. (Because obviously, it wasn't her ship or her crew that being attacked).

Unfortunately, the invaders didn't let any single person out listed, so they surrounded the female quickly with sinister laugh. Mirra smirked while eyeing her opponents, ready to have a bit of exercise. The opponents seemed over confident with their strength, believing the female in front of them didn't possess much of a threat, but oh boy how wrong were they when Mirra suddenly slide forward and kneed up one of them at the jaw. The impact caused him missing a few teeth.

Swiftly coordinating her movement, she turned to her left and did a turning kick right to the head of another pirate sending him away and unconscious, and by retracting her kicking leg to the back immediately, she then spin hook kick the other two pirates that charged from her back while balancing herself by bending down her body downwards and pressing her palm against the deck.

She then back to her fighting stance, extending her right foot to the back, about a shoulder-width apart from her left foot, smirking and taunting the others as she watched four of them laid helplessly on the cold floor.

But her taunt wasn't lasting long. She heard a loud "boom" few times, and she briefly took a look at the said direction.

Eye widened, the centre of deck was covered with screening smoke. Heart pirates were coughing and having difficulties to see well. But the same thing could be said about the opponents. They were not wearing any mask and eye shield so they definitely can't see well.

Talk about stupidity. They topped every person in the world.

Mirra sensed that someone's attacking so her focus returned to her sounding. Blocking and side elbowed the remaining opponents, loud thuds followed suit as they laid unconscious on the floor. She looked at the six bodies, tucking her hair behind her ear she believed they were down for good.

Mirra walked nearing the centre. She watched as Hearts desperately trying to cover their backs and attack at the same time. Clicking her tongue against the roof, she brought her right arm sideways, that now emitting soft white energy around it. A cold blew of wind formed as she swung her hand, in a slapping motion sending the cold wind to them and simultaneously blew away all the ashy smoke.

Upon feeling the cold breeze slapping their skins both crews looked at her, agape and mind blown.

Mirra wasn't done yet. She crouched down, and her to hands slowly touching the floor and immediately ice was formed and covered the entire floor like a skating ring. It shocked the enemy's crew and perplexed the Hearts as they were wary of shall they trust her or not.

Smirking, Mirra stood up, eyes glancing in excitement as she muttered. "Let's have some dance shall we?"

- - -

Law ran up to the deck quickly with his nodachi in his hand, and Shachi hot in tails ready to fight. But when he opened the door to the deck he was blasted with cold wind the blew his hat off. And Shachi was knocked over from bumping against his back.

Once the wind dispersed and he managed to crack his eyes open he was greeted with the back figure of the woman. And everyone was looking at her. Law was left clueless and before he could move the deck floor suddenly covered with ice, barely stopping before reaching his foot.

He was in surprised.

"Let's have some dance, shall we?"

- - -

The words didn't register into the Hearts and the enemy's brains at first when hearing it. They didn't understand a thing.

But the enemies were not going to wait so they charged forward, blades and swords aimed high to attack her but before they could reach her they started to slip. The slippery iced-floor caused it hard for them to stand still so they either slip and fall hitting their heads or slide all the way round till the end of the deck and fall over to the sea.

Mirra smirked. She enjoyed watching them screamed 'dieeee' and 'ackk!!!' before bumping and smacking each other, body messily tangled with each other for failing to free themselves. Face turned beet red they struggled hard just to get back up, but end up kissing the floor, again.

She couldn't contain her laugh anymore. Her voice loudly boomed as she mocked them, encouraging them to get her and making funny comments whenever they fell. And to rub more salt on their pride she added skating blade under her shoes to allow her move freely on the ice.

"What's the matter? I thought you guys wanna kill me?" She casually spoke as she circled them.

"If you think you can fly, you are dead wrong~" She smirked watching them stretching their arms to get her.

But as much as she enjoyed the view, it was not really interesting to watch the Heart pirates struggling as well. They all looked like a bunch of birds that just started to learn how to fly, flipping their arms around just to steady themselves. Mirra waited a bit longer, before she finally decided she have enough, because one thing for sure, she didn't want the captain, Trafalgar Law to misunderstand the situation and hunt her head for toying with his crew.

And she guessed she had pushed the enemies' buttons too much, as they had it enough and gun shot rang in the air. It grazed her on the shoulder.

As she looked slightly to the bleeding skin she finally decided that that's that. The Hearts couldn't fight properly too so if they started to shoot randomly someone's bound to be hurt.

Immediately she stomped onto the floor, motioned up with her index finger to create a huggable-sized pillars in front of each the Hearts.

"Hold tight on it!" She screamed.

At the same time she brought her right hand to the back and her left hand to the front, with her body slightly facing sideways, and swung them 180.

"Blizzard Wave", she muttered, which created a large and powerful blizzard plus tornado.

The tornado swept away all of the enemies - thank God the Hearts have strong arms to hold the pillars tightly - with their shouts were the last thing they heard before they scattered and plopped onto the sea. When the tornado fully disappeared Mirra unfroze everything. She clutched her bleeding shoulder, took a step back to retreat to inside but bumped into Law instead.

Caught unguarded she turned, eyes glowered in danger and body squared up as her fighting instinct rang. Law was staring down at her, with his sharp gaze and it made the female tensed even more.

Law pulled his arm forward, and Mirra stepped back, worried. His palm grabbed hers, moving it away from covering her fresh wound. And she eyed him in caution, internally questioning his action when he didn't make the effort to let her go, instead, the hold getting firmer.

Law's eyes finally left her bleeding shoulder, and his grip loosened as Mirra let her arm fell to her side.

"Into the infirmary room. I'll treat that."

"I-..."

"What?" He cocked an eyebrow.

"N-nothing. Thanks."

Mirra immediately walked pass him and headed to the said room. Law kept his eyes trained on her retreating form, before he faced his crew again, which they all were waiting for the next order along with some confusions and questions wondering their minds.

"Those injured get back to the sub. To the infirmary room like her. Those who aren't injured search their ship. Find anything valuable and get back quick. Go!"

"Yes captain!"

Their voices rang as each of them hurried to fulfil the order.

Law turned back again. Eyes looking at the opened door that connected to the deck. He recalled back at the moment the emergency siren rang. He had left the infirmary room immediately, with Shachi half done bandaged following him. He expected his crew to already confront the enemies and he was right. But he was surprised as his came out of the door the deck-floor suddenly covered with ice.

He saw as the red-haired displayed her power and enjoying the moments. At the spur of moment when her shoulder was shot and Shachi immediately wanted to help, he had stopped his friend.

A devil fruit user... There's more to it, right? Show me...

Once the fight was over he had decided that the woman reserved a sitting among his humans'-organs-collection in his personal freezer in case she decided to harm the crew.

To be continued
