Chapter 4

The following day at school, Mirabel was talking with her friends.

"I still can't believe you went out for coffee with Marcos." said Angela.

"And rode on a motorbike." added Valentina.

"It was a great ride, and coffee was nice. Marcos seems pretty nice." Mirabel told them.

"Well you think he likes you?" Angela wondered.

Mirabel blushed a little.

"I-I don't know."

School went on like normal, except whenever Mirabel saw Marcos he smiled at her, and when he did Mirabel felt butterflies in her stomach, and her face heat up. She had to admit, Marcos was pretty cute and charming.

"Well, maybe I do like Marcos a little bit." Mirabel told her friends, as they went to their fashion club.

Angela and Valentina squealed.

"I'm so happy for you." said Valentina.

"Me too." agreed Angela.

"Thanks guys. But I don't know if Marcos even likes me back."

"Uh, he took you out for coffee, and he smiles whenever he sees you." Valentina told her.

"If that doesn't mean he likes you, then que es?"

Mirabel had to admit, it did make sense. In the fashion club, the girls discussed different fabrics.

"While there are many different fabrics to use for cloths making, some are better than others." Angela informed.

"That's true. I find that cotton is good for shirts." Mirabel mentioned.

"And satin is great for skirts and dresses." added Valentina.

Then there was a knock at the door, which surprised the girls.

"Come in." called Mirabel.

The door opened to reveal Marcos with a drink holder with three drinks in it.

"Marcos, what are you doing here?" she asked.

"Well I thought I'd drop by, and check out your little club de moda." he explained.

"And we're glad to have you here, Marcos." Valentina said.

"Oh, Marcos. This is Angela and Valentina." Mirabel introduced.

"Nice to meet you, senoritas."

"Hola." Valentina and Angela replied.

"What are these?" Mirabel wanted to know.

"I thought you girls would like some drinks. Anyone want a soda?"

The girls were delighted, and took the drinks.

"Gracias, Marcos. This was very nice of you." Angela said.

"My pleasure." Marcos replied.

The club went on normally with Marcos sitting in, and then it was time to go.

"So Mirabel would you and your friends like to hang out this weekend?"

The girls liked the sound of that.

"That sounds like fun. What would we do?" asked Mirabel.

"Yeah, like what?" Valentina added.

"We could go into the city, and have some fun there."

That sounded fun to the girls. So they agreed.

When Saturday came Mirabel got ready to go. She quickly grabbed her purse, and hurried downstairs. On her way down there, she ran into Antonio.

"Hola, Mirabel. Wanna watch TV with me?" he asked.

"Sorry, Tonio. I'm going out today."

"Aw."

"Don't worry, we can watch TV together tomorrow."

"Okay."

And he went off. As she walked towards the door, she heard another voice.

"Where you going Mirabel?"

She turned and saw Bruno.

"Oh, Tio Bruno. I'm just going out with friends."

He smiled at her, it was nice to see her happy.

"Okay, have a good time."

"Gracias."

And she left the casita. Mirabel waited for a minute, and then a luxurious looking car pulled up. The window rolled down to reveal Marcos.

"Hola, Mirabel. Ready to go?" he asked.

"Si, is this your car?" she wondered.

"Actually it's my brother's. Come on."

Mirabel opened the door, and got in the passenger's seat. They then drove off, and picked up Valentina and Angela.

Like Mirabel, they were impressed by the car. Marcos drove them into the city, and to their surprise they went to the part of the city where the expensive stores were.

"Wow." observed Mirabel.

"I've never been in this part of the city before." mentioned Angela.

"It's amazing." added Valentina.

"I thought you senoritas would like to come here." Marcos explained.

The girls looked at each other excitedly. After parking the car, the girls hurried out of it, and Marcos followed them. They went into one of the stores, and gazed at the sight. The walls were white, the floor was marble, and there were racks of designer clothes, walls of shoes, and many different accessories.

"Let's get shopping." Angela said, starting to move.

"Wait. This stuff's pretty expensive." Mirabel mentioned.

"She's got a point." added Valentina.

"No te preocupes." Marcos piped up.

The girls turned around, and looked at him.

"I got you covered."

He held up several credit cards. They smiled and began to start shopping. The girls had fun trying on the expensive clothes, and pretending to be socialites. They went to several other stores, picking out several items.

Mirabel picked out a couple shirts, a skirt, a pair of shoes, a bracelet, and a scarf. Angela and Valentina grabbed several things too.

"This was great, Marcos." Mirabel told him.

"Yeah, gracias." added Angela.

"No problema. You girls hungry?"

The girls agreed. They went back to the car, and drove off for a bite to eat.

They went to a nice restaurant, and once again Marcos offered to pay.

"This is a really nice place." observed Angela.

"Glad you like it. What do you think, Mirabel?" asked Marcos.

"It's muy bueno, Marcos."

Valentina and Angela looked at each other knowingly. After they finished eating, the girls decided to use the powder room while Marcos paid the bill.

"This feels like a dream." said Valentina.

"Yeah, I never thought I'd spend a day like this." added Angela.

"I have to admit, it is fun." Mirabel admitted.

"I think he's trying to show off to you, Mirabel." teased Angela.

Valentina giggled while Mirabel blushed.

"He's...he's...he's just being nice."

But the two weren't convinced.

After a little more shopping, Marcos dropped the girls off. First he dropped off Angela, and then Valentina. On the drive to Mirabel's house, Mirabel found herself struggling to say something.

"Uh...it was really nice of you to take me and my friends out, Marcos."

"My pleasure." Marcos replied.

They were quiet for a little while longer, then Marcos spoke up.

"You know Mirabel, perhaps the two of us could do something together."

"Oh really?"

"Si. would you like to see a movie next week and maybe go to dinner?"

"You like...a date?" "It can be, but if you don't want to we could just go as friends." "No, no, I'd really like that." "Great." After Marcos dropped Mirabel off at her house, she scurried straight to her room.

She felt so blissful, she just fell onto her bed. Could it be her life was taking a turn for the better?
