A/N:
Sly8800: I'm glad you like it. I wasn't going to continue you but I thought about it again and we'll see how far it goes. But either way, i hope you enjoy this one :)
TheQuietReader23: Oh yeah, writing Sokka like that was hilarious and the way Aang and Zuko mess with him was so fun to write. There's a bit more of that here. Katara will come in soon, and it will be good.
Speed Dating (Part 2):
Previously:
'So, who's the next girl we're supposed to be meeting up with?'
Aang shrugged his shoulders as he opened his phone and sussed out the details, 'I don't know her, but her name is Jin.'
Present:
"Alright fam, take a seat," Sokka said as he stood up and shuffled downstairs while Aang took a seat beside Zuko, both of them turning to the screen to view the upcoming speed date. "Let me show yall how its done," Sokka stated as he took a seat and waited for Jin to show up.
While waiting, he felt his stomach grumbling and decided to order some fries and chicken wings to satisfy his hunger, while also unknowingly inviting his doom.
'Bro! Bro!'
'What?' Zuko asked, bored as he placed his phone away and looked towards the screen Aang was pointing at.
'He ordered wings!'
Zuko's eyes widened and his mouth fell open slightly. 'No…'
'Yes, bruv,' Aang chuckled as he spoke, 'Watch, he's gonna be shitting and farting up the whole place now.'
'Five bucks says that he'll ignore his date once the wings arrive.'
'Nah, he wouldn't; Sokka wants to win, he knows he'll lose if he does that,' Aang argued, knowing it was likely a weak argument.
'You give him too much credit, so what… you chickening out?'
Aang shook Zuko's hand, 'Five bucks, you're on.'
As the minutes passed and the camera's set outside the Jasmine Dragon showed Jin entering the shop, Sokka turned to the camera to his left and spoke, talking particularly to Aang and Zuko.
"You know what, I don't like how Suki was calling Aang a gentleman… and since I'm way more chivalrous than he is, I'mma do the same… but with style," Sokka stated while smirking at the camera.
Aang and Zuko both mirrored an expression without glancing at each other as they smirked. 'He's gonna fuck this one up isn't he?'
'Yep,' Zuko agreed, popping the 'p'.
"Hi, there babes – oh my good you are beautiful," Sokka cheered as an olive-skinned girl walked in, wearing a green floral sundress and blue Ray Bans along with a pair of green converse shoes – smiling as she neared Sokka.
"Aww, thank you – you're cute too," she stated as she walked up to the table.
"You know what," Sokka pipped up as he winked at the camera before turning to Jin, "I'mma kick out the chair for you."
"You're so nice, thank you," she thanked him but realised that she spoke to soon when she heard the chair smacking against the wooden floor, and it laid there, taunting Sokka for mistakenly using too much force in his excitedness.
'HA HA AH AH HA HA HA HA!' Aang and Zuko laughed so loud that both Jin and Sokka could hear them from downstairs, thus, Sokka cringed and hid his face in embarrassment.
"It's okay," Jin tried to reassure Sokka that the gesture was sweet even if the chair landed on the floor because he had pushed it too hard.
"I'm – I'm sorry," Sokka stuttered out, still flushed as Jin picked up the chair from the floor and took her seat.
"Its okay," she giggled, hiding her giggles with the back of her hand as she covered her mouth before speaking, "honestly. It's fine."
For a while, the two just sat there, waiting for the other to speak up – well, Jin was waiting for Sokka while he was contemplating if he should take his leave instead of continuing with this date; assuming that after such a horrible first impression, surely this girl wouldn't pick him.
"Umm," Jin began as she glanced at the camera, shrugging at it, thus indicating that she was lost. "My name is Jin… by the way," she stated somewhat hesitantly.
"Oh my god, I'm sorry," Sokka tried to apologise as he held out his hand for her to shake. "I'm Sokka, its nice to meet you."
"Likewise."
There was another short pause as the two thought about what to say next.
'Bro, he's actually fucked it.'
'Should we go down there and help him?' Aang asked, as he watched the pair downstairs grow further uncomfortable.
'Nah,' Zuko shook his head, 'he was talking mad shit, let's see what he can do.'
The silence hadn't yet ended; Sokka was staring at anything and everything besides Jin while she snuck glances at him and towards the camera, a clear question in her eyes: 'What the fuck is he doing?'
'Nah man, she's uncomfortable. This date is dead,' Aang stated jokingly as he chuckled alongside Zuko.
"So, ummm what do you do?" Jin asked hesitantly again, seeing as how Sokka likely wasn't going to start the communication.
"I… uhh, I'm a YouTuber, you know…"
"Right," Jin asked, smiling somewhat as she thought she had finally managed to get this date going, even though that was really Sokka's job. "And do you like it?"
"Yeah, its' alright. I also make music with my friends upstairs, Aang and Zuko – "
"Here are your fries and chicken wings sir," the waitress brought over the food Sokka had ordered beforehand.
"Thank you," without a second glace at his date, Sokka gripped onto a wing and began munching down on it, moaning as the juices filled his mouth. Before he knew it, his entire attention drifted from Jin to the pieces, or pieces of chicken he was making love to.
"You sure have an appetite," Jin remarked, scowling and leaning back against her seat – she had came her as a favour for her friend Suki, who told her that the guys were great and funny. However, sitting there with Sokka, she began regretting it, thinking it was likely a waste of her time.
Zuko held out his hand as Aang sighed and took out his wallet. 'You're a millionaire yet you still tryna ask for money?'
'That's how you stay a millionaire,' Zuko smirked as he pocketed the five dollars Aang handed over. 'Plus, a dare's a dare.'
"So, are you gonna communicate with me or?" Jin asked, confused as to why her date was looking at the piece of chicken in his hands as if it were his wife who had recently showered, laying on their bed naked, clean shaved and fully ready and waiting for him after a hard day at work – yeah, that's how into that chicken Sokka was.
"Nah, sorry – I'm just –" he took another bite, moaning as he closed his eyes, "this chicken's soooo good though. Have you tried it?"
Sokka attempted to start a conversation, but Jin was no longer interested. "Nah," she replied dryly, sipping on the banana and caramel milkshake she had ordered. "Maybe I will later, on a better date."
Aang and Zuko's jaws both dropped to the ground while Sokka winced at the not-so-subtle blow.
Sokka acted like he hadn't heard it tried to pick it back up, "So, I don't want to waste your time…"
'You already have, blood.' Zuko stated.
'He's struggling,' Aang added, 'blow the whistle ref. Blow the whistle. This date is dead.'
"So, I'll just be straight up, out of ten, what are you giving me?" Sokka asked.
Jin winced slightly as she sighed and shook her head, "based of this date…"
'This is gonna be bad,' Aang and Zuko said at the same time.
"Probably a 5."
'Ahhhhh!' 'Sokkkkkkaaaaaa!' 'Nooooooo!' Aang and Zuko yelled as they jumped up from their seats and began pacing around their room, both baffled at how they knew Sokka would fuck this date up beforehand.
"You know, we should probably just leave it at that," Jin stated somewhat firmly, not wanting to continue the date as she held out her hand for Sokka to shake.
"Oh okay," Sokka said somewhat hesitantly as he shook her hand before she sat up and left.
'Oh lord this is bad!' Aang stated as he leaned on Zuko who simply held him up.
'Fam, I thought I was awkward! What the hell was that?!'
"Aye you lot up there!" Sokka yelled as he stood up from his seat, "Shut up man!"
'Ha ha ha aha ha ha ha ah!' Aang and Zuko laughed harder when Sokka hid his face again, attempting to hide his embarrassment.
"Nah, allow it fam," Sokka chuckled as he just went back to eating his chicken. "I'm more into Suki anyways, blood," he added, talking to no one in particular, but the camera's microphone caught what he said and Aang and Zuko just laughed harder at their friend.
Zuko sat there waiting for Jin to enter again, not particularly keen to go on another date but not completely hating it either. When she walked in however, Zuko's eyebrow quirked as his lips tugged upwards slightly – 'She is beautiful,' Zuko thought to himself as she took a seat across from him.
"Hi there, I'm Jin," she smiled, while at the same time somewhat confused as to why the man beside her was wearing sunglasses in doors.
"I'm Zuko," he answered, turning shy for some reason as he began swirling his straw around in his strawberry and banana milkshake.
Jin sighed internally, understanding that she'd likely have to start the conversation once again as Zuko – like Sokka – seemed to be a nervous one.
"So, uh, Zuko…" his eyes and ears perked up to address her while she spoke to him, "How are you liking Republic City so far?"
"Its okay," he answered dryly.
'Fam, this date his dead,' Sokka stated thus causing an idea to form in Aang's mind as he smirked.
'I know, here let me just call the waiter over real quick.'
Sokka recognised the dangerous and mischievous look in Aang's eye and grinned, knowing that whatever he was planning would surely be worth the wait.
'What are you planning to do?'
'Something that'll piss our precious Fire Prince off,' Aang grinned as the waited walked up the stairs and Aang whispered in his ear a request. The waiter smirked before nodding and heading back down.
'Okay,' Aang and Sokka both watched the screen intently. 'Game time.'
"What do you like to do for fun?"
"Nothing," he replied simply, sounding disinterested whereas in reality he was extremely nervous for some unknown reason.
Suddenly, while Jin acquainted herself with some fries and wings, the waiter walked up to Zuko and asked, "Excuse me sire, would you and your girlfriend care for dessert?"
"She's not my girlfriend!"
'HA HA AHA HA HA HA…"
Zuko, knowing you was likely behind this, turned his attention to the roof above him. "Aang bruv, I swear, pull that shit again and I'll straighten your ass out right now!" Zuko yelled while looking up, knowing that his friends were likely laughing their asses off.
Jin giggled while the waiter walked off laughing. When Zuko turned back to his date, he noticed that similar to Sokka – though not to the same extent – Jin was also stuffing her face with food.
"You uhh… have quite an appetite for a… uh… a girl," he stated hesitantly with wide eyes while Jin just looked confused and insulted.
'Fam, is he trying to insult her or is he just that awkward?' Sokka asked, baffled by how clueless and naïve the prince could be.
'Knowing him, it doesn't matter, cause he's doing both at the same time.'
"Uh… thanks," Jin awkwardly and reluctantly replied, dipping her head – somewhat insecure now actually. "So, Zuko… what were you doing before you landed in Republic City?"
"We uhh, travelled a lot."
"Travelled, how come?"
Zuko, not wanting to reveal his identity as the Prince of the Fire Nation to her, decided to use a cover up Aang had provided him with – though, after answering and gaging Jin's reaction, he knew he shouldn't have listened to Aang's suggestion – he had forgotten that Air Nomad's could have a cruel sense of humour.
"I uhh… travelled with the… circus…"
'Oh, really," she asked in surprise, now intrigued. "What did you do? Wait, let me guess," she tapped her chin – Zuko thought it was somewhat cute. "You were a juggler!"
"Yeah, I was a juggler," Zuko deadpanned, now not really interested in continuing with the date as he knew he was only going to further make a fool of himself.
Aang and Sokka recognised his distant look and dry answers as they watched on.
'You see, the thing is,' Sokka began, "she actually likes him, but he's too nervous or bored to see that.'
'You reckon he likes her?' Aang asked.
Soka shrugged his shoulders as he thought about it, 'He's normally nervous around girls – awkward, yeah… hella awkward, but not shy or nervous.'
Aang hummed in agreement, 'Maybe he does like her then.'
"I've always wanted to learn how to juggle, can you show me?" Jin asked as she handed Zuko some fries and wings.
Though Zuko didn't want to get is clothes dirty, he knew he at least needed to try to maintain his cover. So, he took the food from her and threw it in the air, trying to juggle it to no avail. As the chips landed around him and the wing found refuge on his head, Aang and Sokka burst out laughing and Jin giggled to herself while Zuko groaned in annoyance.
"I haven't practiced in a while," Zuko excused himself.
"Its alright," Jin stated, amused.
'If this is how he moves at gals,' Aang began as he looked towards Sokka who turned his head to acknowledge him, 'Bed is empty every night.'
'Bed is empty every single fucking night,' Sokka confirmed as spoke to the camera before turning back to Aang. 'He's not even getting a sniff of this." Sokka turned back to the camera while Zuko and Jin sat awkwardly in silence, "You think he can chat to gal like that and… bruv, it don't matter how loaded you are – actually, nah,' Sokka cut himself off when Aang shook his head knowingly. 'Money does get you pussy to be fair.'
'Yeah, but you see her,' Aang pointed towards Jin, 'she ain't about that. I can tell.'
'You talking like you're gonna make a move on that fam,' Sokka observed as Jin and Zuko's date came to a close.
Aang simply shook his head as he stood up when Jin left for the washroom and Zuko began trekking back upstairs groaning. 'Nah,' Aang answered Sokka, 'Man's just gonna have some fun, innit.'
Aang remained seated as he waited for Jin to return patiently. When she did, he immediately stood up and walked up to her. She beamed at him as she realised he was leaning closer to hug her because she had been waiting to meet Aang – though Suki had spoken highly of Sokka, she had also mentioned that Aang was the easiest to talk to and vibe with.
"Hi there, my god you are attractive," Aang cheered as he leaned down to hug her. Since he was 6 foot three and she was five foot ten, Jin had to stand on her tiptoes to hug him properly, though, she continued to beam at him when he disengaged from their brief greeting hug.
"Thanks, you certainly are too," Jin stated as Aang pulled her chair out for her. "I'm glad you didn't decide to kick it for me," she joked, making Aang, herself and Zuko upstairs to laugh aloud.
'Why me man?!' Sokka groaned out in embarrassment.
'She violated you, hahahahah….'
Aang continued to laugh softly when he pushed her chair in and took a seat beside her. "Thank you though."
"No worries," Aang smiled at her, and she giggled – Jin liked his goofy smile and the way his beanie caused his shaggy brown hair to flow around his forehead with the breeze. "Now, if you don't mind me," Aang stated as he acted like he too was going to stuff his face in chicken wings, "I'm gonan chuck a 'Sokka' and make love to this chicken. You can do you love."
Jin quirked an eyebrow, thinking Aang was actually being serious, but she burst out giggling and laughing when Aang chuckled and they both heard Sokka screaming his head off upstairs.
'Calm down you dickhead.'
'Nah, fam! All this airhead's done is violate me the entire time! He taunted me in his date with Suki, and now he's fucking around again!'
'He's having fun bruv, let them be.'
"Looks like you got him riled up," Jin remarked as she took a sip of her strawberry and banana milkshake.
"Yeah," Aang smirked, "its usually easy when I make fun of him for messing up when he's around pretty girls."
At that, Jin blushed and began laughing while still sipping her milkshake, which in turn caused her to cough and laugh at the same time for a few seconds.
"You alright there? Choking already?" Aang asked in a suggestive manner as he quirked his eyebrow up and smirked at her – her blush only deepened.
'Nah, yo, she likes him,' Zuko said – somewhat bummed out since he thought Jin would like him more.
'Bruv, what is it about Aang that just makes these girls act like giddy schoolgirls? Huh?' Sokka asked, somewhat frustrated. 'I gotta give him props though, for real; mans' got the sauce.'
"You know, I saw your dates with Zuko and Sokka," Aang mock winced and cringed which caused Jin to chuckle in response as she too cringed at the memory, "not so great, were they darling." Aand asked, though, it was more of a statement than a question.
"Is that why they put you last?" Jin asked with a bit of flirt – already liking the impression Aang was making as it surpassed both Zuko and Sokka. "To save the best for last?"
Aang nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders as he answered with a light smile, "I insisted actually; I didn't want your day to end on a sour note, so that's why I'm here to sweeten it up a bit."
'Bro, how can he just say it like that?' Sokka asked, baffled by how casually upped his own game. 'Like, mans' barely putting in any effort, and he's just coaxing laughs out of her like he's throwing away raffle dollar notes.'
Jin laughed again, understanding that this was simply fun and games to him but not caring either way because she too was having fun – for once. "Well, you're certainly off to a great start."
"Am I?" Aang asked knowingly to which Jin nodded to in return while staring at him through half-lidded eyes. "You know, I feel like you're a real chill person like – "
"I'm very laid back," Jin confirmed as she continued sipping on her milkshake, though, her lips began turning upwards into a smile when she saw Aang grinning again.
"You like laying back?" Aang again asked suggestively.
'Oh fuck, here he goes again,' Zuko groaned out.
"I'm very laid back," Jin corrected him knowingly while giggling.
"You're very laid back?"
"Yeah," Jin giggled again as he continued grinning.
"Okay, cool."
'Bruv! How's he gotten away with it again?!' Sokka yelled, confused as to how Aang was dropping sexual innuendos and not being called out for it but instead being encouraged. 'Since when was this guy such a flirt?' Sokka asked Zuko as he turned to acknowledge him. 'Even back in college man wasn't acting like this!'
'He's joking around Sokka,' Zuko answered – considering the fact that he knew Aang well, Zuko recognised that his next statement would ring very true once he uttered it. 'Trust me Sokka,' Zuko began firmly while eyeing the screen, watching the date nervously, 'the day that Aang gets serious about a girl, you'll know lad.'
"Was that you who sent the waiter down here to ask Zuko if I was his girlfriend?" Jin asked while smiling.
"Oh yeah, guilty as charged; I just saw you were getting bored, so I thought I'd lighten up the mood a bit."
"And telling him that I was Zuko's girlfriend was the best thing you could think of?" She teased, smirking and raising an eyebrow as she thought she had him when he took a moment to answer.
'Aye yo, I think she's got him! She's finally broken him!' Sokka cheered while Zuko shook his head – he understood that it would take a lot more than that to stammer and fluster Aang.
Aang grinned as he saw Jin's smirk waver; she realised she hadn't won yet, not even close. "Would you have preferred it if he referred to you as my girlfriend instead?"
Jin opened her mouth to answer, but soon realised that she didn't have an adequate one as she closed her mouth and glanced away, blushing while a small smile tugged at her lips.
'Oh fuck, yeah, he's won this whole game. This is the second girl now who he's made blush and laugh non-stop throughout the date.' Sokka complained as he stood up from his seat and paced around the room.
'Sokka, I'm telling you that Suki will pick you – we both saw how much she liked you.'
'But look at how Aang was moving on her!'
'He knows you like her! You're being paranoid for no reason! Relax blood.'
"Are you Earth Kingdom by the way?"
"Yeah," Jin grinned, "How did you know?"
"You've got green eyes; their quite common in the Earth Kingdom," Aang answered while smiling. "Plus, you're quite straightforward."
"So, are you – well, for an Air Nomad at least," Jin stated, not realising that Aang had qualities of an Earth Kingdom individual because he was one, and Water Tribe, and Fire Nation, as well as Air Nomad. "How old are you by the way?"
"Take a guess," Aang requested, glad that she unknowingly steered the conversation away from a subject he'd rather not talk about, even though he brought it up initially.
"Hmmm, I think you're around 19."
"I'm 20 babes," Aang corrected her.
"Oh, so am I," she smiled again – preparing to ask another question but just as she opened her mouth, the alarm rang, thus signifying that their four-minute-long speed date was over.
'Oh! Look! She's bummed out," Sokka states while pointing towards Jin on the laptop screen.
'She wanted to keep talking to him,' Zuko added when he saw Aang and Jin stand up to say goodbye.
"That was fun, thanks!" Jin cheered as she leaned up to hug Aang.
"Glad I could entertain you for four minutes," Aang answered as he disengaged, though, when he did, he was mildly surprised when Jin leaned back up and kissed him on the cheek.
Sokka and Zuko both stared at the screen, their mouths agape.
Aang simply beamed at her as he walked her out the Jasmine Dragon, holding the door out for her, "Well, it was lovely to meet you."
"Likewise, w-wait –" Jin added when she noticed that Aang was about to head back in. She stood there nervously before she shyly asked, "Could I get your Instagram?"
'Nah bro, I'm done with this video. Fuck this. Man's already won,' Sokka complained.
Aang, smirking now, turned around and winked at the camera that was filming him and Jin outside as he took her phone and opened his profile on it for her. He handed it back and smiled, waving goodbye as she walked away while waving goodbye too.
Still smiling, Aang ran up the stairs excitedly, only to find an annoyed Sokka and a grumpy Zuko – so, basically, nothing out of the ordinary.
'What's wrong now?' Aang asked Sokka as he leaned on the wall beside him.
'Nothing,' Sokka grumbled as he turned to open the profile of the next girl. 'Okay, so the next one should be arriving in twenty minutes – oh, and by the way, Jet called and asked if he could be a guest on the show.'
'What? Like, as a date?' Zuko asked, unsure.
'No, you retard,' Sokka snorted, 'Like as one of us guys.'
'Mans' probs just looking for a root,' Aang remarked as he took a seat beside Sokka and Zuko, now forming a triangle.
'I mean, I don't really mind…' Sokka stated.
'Me neither,' Aang added.
'Fuck it, it'll be more fun,' Zuko agreed.
'Okay, man said he'll be get here ten minutes. So, we'll get him miked up and then we'll have some more fun when the next girl arrives.'
'Who is the next girl by the way, you know her?' Zuko asked, intrigued.
'Nah,' Sokka shook his head. 'She's a friend of my sister's.'
'You have a sister?' Aang asked, surprised and somewhat hurt that his best mate hadn't told him of his family – though, Aang hadn't really told Sokka much about his either. 'You've never mentioned her before?'
'She never came up,' Sokka shrugged while Aang just rolled his eyes and shook his head.
'What's the girl's name?' Zuko asked, still intrigued for some unknown reason.
'Who?'
'Your sister's friend, the next one arriving.'
'Oh,' Sokka's eyebrows furrowed as he clicked on her profile and read out her name, from what he could see, she was not his type. 'Uhhhh, her name's Mai.'
