A/N: Here is the next chapter of my Megaforce rewrite, which I've dubbed "Starforce". I hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own Power Rangers Megaforce/Starforce or Tensou Sentai Goseiger in any way. I just own most of the plot and the characters and things you don't recognize from the original version.

Note: This chapter is important because it contains more lore and background for the Land Beyond.

Also, bring tissues. This chapter might be sad.

"An ancient enemy returns on the anniversary of the death of one of Land Beyond's greatest friends. But why was Noah getting these memories?"

Power Rangers: Megaforce REDO – dubbed Starforce

Season 1, Episode 9: Grass is Always Greener

Carver Household, Granny's Flowers, Azure Avenue, Harwood County, Oregon

October 5, 2015

Noah rolled back to avoid the monster's attack, only for a young woman dressed in green robes to find herself on the receiving end of it.

"No!" he cried.

The woman turned back to face him, smiling, "It's alright."

Those were her last words before she pushed the monster off the cliff with her entire body, both crashing down into the freezing waters below.

Noah spent the next three hours searching the shoreline for her, only for his search to come up empty-handed.

She was gone...

Noah woke up from his nightmare in a cold sweat. What was that about? Why did he dream about a woman sacrificing her life for him? And why did that dream never show until now?

These questions, and many more, perplexed him as his grandmother knocked on his door, "Noah, dear, did you hear me? I said it's time for breakfast."

"Oh, sorry, Nana," Noah apologized, before getting out of bed.

All during breakfast, it was easy to get caught up in his thoughts and questions about the dream, due to his grandma fixing breakfast for herself as well as preparing to open her flower shop on the ground floor below them (they lived on the second floor).

But she quickly noticed how out of it her grandson was.

"Are you okay, dear?" she asked. "You're not eating your waffles."

Noah snapped back to reality, "Huh? Oh, yeah. I'm fine."

She placed the back of her hand on his forehead, "Are you running a fever? Do you feel sick?"

"No, I'm fine," he offered her a smile, but wasn't sure if it looked real enough. "I just stayed up late last night, studying. I'm currently running on very little sleep."

As her grandson started eating his waffles, Evelyn Carver couldn't help but compare his behavior to what she noticed in her son and his wife when they returned from a war fifteen years ago, traumatized by the horrors they had seen overseas.

It took the two ten years to be treated enough to return to the front lines willingly, and "We're fine" were the last words she ever heard from them.

Noah honestly didn't realize he had followed the other four Rangers to Ernie's after school until Gia handed him a small folder, "Here."

He quickly came back to reality, confused, "What's this?"

"Today's notes," Gia replied, the five sitting at their usual table. "I quickly noticed you were kinda out of it and didn't seem to be paying attention, so I wrote down the notes for you."

"Oh, thank you," Noah said, taking the folder. Despite how uninterested his voice suggested he was, his gratitude was sincere.

To be honest, he wasn't sure how the school day went by so quickly. In his head, he was having breakfast with Nana not ten minutes ago, and now, school was over, and the Rangers were having their usual study group at Ernie's, going over homework to ensure that everyone understood the material because they were Rangers, so they had more important things than homework to worry about.

He was very fortuante that Gia was in all his classes, and that most his classes were AP classes that Gia clearly understood the material for.

Not only did she take notes for him, but she was also more than willing to step up and explain things the other three had questions about (mostly Jake, though Emma and Troy sometimes had a couple questions here and there). He and Gia mainly worked together to do this, but today, he just wasn't feeling it.

"I get it now," Emma said, with a smile, and this caused Noah to wander back to reality. "Thanks, Gia."

"No problem," she replied. "Tensou called this morning and said his personal project should be done later this evening. I'm heading over to check it out."

"Me too," Emma replied. "I'm excited."

"What about you, Noah?" Jake asked.

"What about me?" Neither the question nor the answer were intended to be mean-spirited, but they both caused some tension anyways.

"Noah, are you really okay?" Troy asked. "Yesterday, you were excited when Tensou told us he was working on something he wanted to show us. Today, you can barely muster up the energy to pay attention to anything."

There was no venom in Troy's voice. He was genuinely concerned about his friend.

Noah tried his best to keep that in mind, and he took a deep breath and jumped right into the waters of the unknown, "Guys, do you ever receive nightmares about strangers?"

Them raising their eyebrows in confusion told him all he needed to know.

"Nevermind," he quickly said, before grabbing his bag. "I'm heading home."

The other four could only watch him as he left.

Noah was filled with so many questions. Why did the others not have this problem? If they did, he would've felt so much better.

But most of all, why did that nightmare, that dream, feel so real? As if it actually happened? And why was he reliving it today?

Just then, the water in front of him started boiling, before it rushed up like a geyser.

Noah covered his face, and quickly noticed that the water should've been cold. It was the ocean. But it wasn't. It was hot, like water inside of a pot on the stove.

He cautiously looked at the cloud of steam as it slowly dissipated to reveal a figure that was familiar to Noah.

"You...!" he growled.

It was the same monster as the one in his dream.

"Vilehive!" he cried out in anger. "Why are you here?! What did you do with her?!"

"I'm sorry, human," the monster, Vilehive, replied. "You appear to know me, but I do not know you. Nor do I know who 'she' is."

"Cut the nonsense!" Noah shot back, before pulling out his Morpher. "Starforce, Shine Down!"

Now morphed, Noah leapt up, flipping over and aiming a knock at Vilehive, who easily blocked his kick and laughed, "Now, I understand who you are!"

Noah landed in the water and resorted to using his bare fists, but Vilehive easily blocked all his punches and kicks, before knocking him down to the ground.

Vilehive walked towards him as he tried to recover quickly, saying, "You are the one who he gave his powers to, so it makes sense. But I'm telling you anything." His body started turning red and he shot a blast of fire at the Blue Ranger.

Noah flew back and landed on the ground, but he quickly got back to his knees.

He was about to charge in again, but he was cut off by Troy and Jake (both morphed) firing their Blasters at Vilehive, which hit the monster dead on. They and the two girls landed behind Noah, and rushed to his side.

"You okay, Noah?" Troy asked, as he knelt beside Noah and placed a hand on his shoulder. Jake kept his Blaster pointed at Vilehive the entire time.

"Stay back!" Noah suddenly replied, and he too was surprised at how angry he was. He pushed Jack aside, saying, "This is my fight! Shark Bowgun: Shine Down!"

"Summon Battle Gear!"

The other four called out his name as he rushed into the fight once more, "Noah, wait!"

Vilehive shot fire blasts at Noah, who kept running before countering the blasts with arrows from his Bowgun.

The other four watched as their fifth angrily fought Vilehive like there was no tomorrow.

"What is he doing?" Gia asked.

"Gia, let's go!" Jake said. She nodded, and the two raised their Blasters in unison, Troy and Emma joining in.

But none of them could get a lock on the monster. Noah was in the way.

Gia groaned in frustration, "Noah! Move!"

"We're only trying to help!" Troy called out.

"Noah!" Emma pleaded.

Jake merely groaned in frustration.

Noah, in the meanwhile, was hit in the stomach by Vilehive and then punched in the chest, sending him flying straight into his three of his four teammates. Troy manages to avoid getting sent to the ground and stepped in front.

He turned to Noah, "You okay?"

But Noah pushed him away, "Get off!" And Troy was sent to the ground too.

"Sorry," Vilehive said, "but you people are wasting my time. See you guys later!" He shot a fireball at the five.

The Rangers were engulfed in an explosion, but by the time the explosion has disappated and the five had recovered, Vilehive was gone.

Jake was the first on his feet and groaned again. He turned back to Noah, "Dude, what the heck was that about?!"

Noah could only say, "I'm sorry..."

The Land Below

"So," Malkor said, "you're the one who attacked that woman? You know where she is?"

Vilehive was kneeling, "Yes, sir. My plan to warm up the ocean was already underway, and I almost defeated one of The Land Beyond's Generals myself, but then she got in the way."

"And now you've come crawling back," Creepox taunted, "with your tail between your legs."

"Quite the contrary, actually," Vilehive replied. "Her suicide attack left me damaged quite badly, so I had to spend thousands of years recovering here in The Land Below. But now, I'm back, and ready to take my vengeance on that General, by first taking out the human he's given his powers to."

"Don't focus on vengeance," Malkor objected. "Focus instead on your mission by continuing your plan to warm the ocean."

Vilehive stood up, "Yes, sir. I will not fail you this time."

As Vilehive walked away, Creepox scoffed, "Injured by a mere human? And a woman at that? How pitiful!"

"I wouldn't be so sure about that," Vrak replied. "A female can make a deadly warrior. Just take a look at the Pink and Yellow Rangers. Vilehive is right to be cautious."

Creepox scoffed again, but, this time, walked away without a word.

Noah allowed the others to take him to the base, and not once did he object or fight back. He didn't know if they were made at him for getting in the way of them getting in a hit or two on Vilehive, but they were right to do so.

"Noah, what troubles you?" Gosei asked.

Noah wordlessly looked at the others for help, and Troy explained, "He means, 'why did you want to fight him yourself'."

Understanding, Noah replied, "Well, Gosei, last night I had a nightmare that I have so many questions about, and I fell like no one can answer them."

"Place your hand on your podium," Gosei intructed, "and then explain your nightmare in detail."

Noah did as Gosei said and placed his hand on the blue podium, the one filled with the sample of Mercredi's power, before he began, "My nightmare started out like any dream. I'm just walking along the beach, listening to the waves."

The other four Rangers noticed their own podiums starting to show exactly what Noah was talking about, but it wasn't Noah walking next to the sea, but a man in blue robes and a shark mask.

General Mercredi.

The scene played out exactly how Noah next described it, "But then, the water starts to boil and out steps a monster who wants to cause global warming. I'm not sure who he is, but I know that he's not here by accident. I know I have to stop him, but he's powerful. I'm about to be defeated when a woman in green, a friend of mine, sacrifices herself to stop him. For the next three hours, I search for her along the shoreline, but she's gone..."

Noah's eyes were filled with tears by the time he was done, and the other Rangers were getting there. Gosei and Tensou wanted to cry with them, but their robotic bodies prevented them from doing so.

Gosei finally gave him the answers he was looking for, "Her name is Raquel."

"Raquel?" Noah repeated.

"Yes," Gosei replies. "She was a special case."

Tensou added, solemnly, "She was General Mercredi's best friend, and today is the anniversary of her death...or disappearance. To be honest, we're still not sure which."

"So that's why I received the nightmare today," Noah realized.

"That's right," Tensou replied, "and you having a sample of General Mercredi's powers is the reason only you are receiving it."

That made a lot of sense. They were his memories.

Gosei continued, "Long, long ago, Raquel was the first human who managed to arrive in The Land Beyond without first dying. Granted, she arrived by accident, but she appeared to belong there. The balance was never once thrown off, nor did her candle, her Flame of Life, turn blue, as expected by someone who had passed on to the afterlife. Whatever the case, The Boss was so impressed by her that he made her a General-in-training, like me, and placed her under the wing of General Mercredi. However, The Land Below soon made their first attack in The Land Between, and we would have lost that fight if it were not thanks to Raquel's sacrifice. Thanks to her, the barriers between the three realms were doubled, and the Land Below was forced out of The Land Between for thousands of years. As Tensou said, we were unable to find her body, nor did her candle burn out or turn blue, so none of us beleive she is truly gone. Her Flame is still burning brightly, the same as any human's."

"We think she may be imprisoned in The Land Below," Tensou cut in, "but we're not sure. The barriers between The Lands Beyond and Below are still up and holding strong, so there's no way for us to know for certain."

"Whatever the case," Gosei continued, "The Land Beyond was outraged, General Mercredi especially, and declared war on The Land Below."

"And that is why there is currently a war between the two realms," Tensou finished. "The Land Below wants to kill all humans and rule The Land Between for themselves, while we simply wish to maintain the balance."

"While The Land Between is trapped in the middle," Emma finished.

"Precisely," Gosei replied. "Raquel was also the first prototype for a Starforce Ranger." This immediately caught the five's attention. "However, ever since her supposed death, we made a rule that giving our Power to humans was forbidden. Not because it was dangerous, because Raquel was adjusting to it quite nicely, nor due to values or morals, because we are not above breaking rules to do what's right. It was because we did not want what happened to Raquel to happen to any other humans."

"But you did break the rule," Jake reminded them. "You gave five of the Generals' powers to us."

"Indeed," Gosei answered, before repeating, "Like I said, we not above breaking the rules to do what's right. We had a meeting about it and it took five Generals agreeing to make it happen, and said five Generals are the most powerful beings in The Land Beyond. That way, their powers are strong enough to keep you alive."

Just then, an alarm sounded, and Tensou cried out, "Vilehive is back! He's at the same beach as earlier!"

"We need to stop him!" Troy said. "Let's go!"

The others were hot on his heels, but Noah stayed behind.

Vilehive was concentrating hard as he held his barrier of heat over the ocean, "The plan is progressing quite well."

"That's enough!" came a familiar voice. Vilehive turned around to see the Rangers, sans Blue. The Red continued speaking, "Your plan ends here!"

"Starforce: Shine Down!"

The four morphed, and prepared to fight him.

Vilehive chuckled, "You Rangers are good entertainment. It makes me laugh how you think I'll be able to go down so easily! And where's Blue? Too afraid to face me again?"

"He doesn't need to be here!" Troy replied, before he and the other three pulled out their Blasters.

"Star Blasters!"

But the shots dissipated upon hitting Vilehive's wall of heat.

"What?!" Jake asked.

Gia stepped forward, "Don't worry. We can do this! Tiger Claw!"

Emma joined her, "Phoenix Shot!"

"Shine Down!"

"Summon Battle Gear!"

Their weapons appeared as the two leapt up and attacked him together, "Sonic Star!"

The two combined energies broke upon reaching Vilehive, and he retaliated by sending a beam of fire at them. The two girls landed on the ground after getting hit.

"Emma!" Jake cried, as Troy checked on Gia.

Jake and Troy charged forward with their own weapons.

"Snake Axe!"

"Dragon Sword!"

But Vilehive fought back with a "Fire Tornado!" He started spinning, fire surrounding him. The fire hit the two guys and sent them flying.

Now it was Gia and Emma's turn to rush forward and make sure they were okay.

"I told you, Rangers," Vilehive said after he stopped spinning, "that you couldn't defeat me so easily. Meteor Shower!"

His body heated up, before raining down flaming meteors on the four.

"Why haven't you gone with them, Noah?" Tensou asked, he and Gosei both noting that Noah hadn't moved an inch.

"I don't deserve to go," Noah replied, almost muttering.

"I believe that's wrong," Gosei surprised him. "What you really mean is 'I haven't earned the right to go'. Correct?"

"...Yeah," Noah answer, surprised at how easily Gosei read him. "And also...Raquel sacrificed herself for the humans and The Land Beyond, the same way my parents did."

"I see," Gosei said. "So, it's hard for you to keep them seperated."

"They were only medics!" Noah revealed. "They were never meant to be on the front lines! But then their hospital got blown up..."

"Those who leave us, Noah," Gosei quietly told him, "never truly disappear."

"Yeah, I know," Noah replied. "They live on in our memories." He's heard that a million times.

"Well, yes," Tensou said, "But Raquel's spirit and power lives on within your Morphers."

Noah immediately turned to the little robot, "What?"

Gosei cut in, "She does. That's the reason why one of your primary motif colors, no matter your power set, is green."

"Besides," Tensou offered, "maybe Raquel met that fate because she was fighting alone."

Noah thought deeply about that and Gosei's next words, "Indeed. That's why The Boss required five Generals to be willing to lend their power to a human. You, Troy, Gia, Jake, and Emma are a team. You fight as one. You five have survived this long due to working together and looking out for one another."

Noah took a moment to think. He closed his eyes, only to see Raquel smiling warmly at him.

And he too began to smile.

He opened his eyes, this time determined. "Gosei, Tensou...thank you," he said, before racing out of the base.

The four kept fighting Vilehive, but it seemed that no matter what they tried to do, he only ended up blocking their attacks with ease and knocking them to the ground without breaking a sweat.

He sent out a wave of fire at them, sending them flying to the ground.

"Now, it's time to finish you off," Vilehive said. "I've got work to do. Meteor Shower!"

But this time, the flaming meteors were blocked by a wave of water.

"Presshower Card: Shine Down!"

"SPLASH!"

When the wave died down, the four Rangers on the ground looked up at the nearby cliff. There stood Noah, determined and ready to fight.

"Noah!" Troy said as he got to his feet.

Behind him, Vilehive laughed, "Come to embarrass yourself again?" Troy and Jake both turned around to face him.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you, Vilehive," Noah replied. "But no. I'm here to stop you."

"You can't stop me by yourself!"

"I didn't say I was going to," Noah shot back. He glanced down at his four teammates, who had all recovered and were now giving him smiles from underneath their helmets. "Starforce: Shine Down!"

Now morphed, Noah watched as Vilehive shot a beam of fire at him, but he jumped up in time to avoid it and aimed a punch at the monster. This time, it landed dead on and sent Vilehive back.

Noah landed and countered Vilehive's Fire Tornado with his own water spin maneuver. After clashing a few times, Noah eventually won, and Vilehive was sent flying. Noah stopped his spinning, and was quickly joined by the other four.

"Sorry for the wait," he apologized.

"No worries, bud," Jake said.

Troy added, "We knew you'd come, Noah."

"Thanks," he replied. "Now it's time for us to fight him together."

"This wasn't supposed to happen!" Vilehive cried out, before summoning, "Spirits!"

A squadron of green foot soldiers appeared and charged forward.

Noah took charge, "Troy, Jake, you two take point." They did as he said, as Noah continued, "Gia, cover them from behind."

"Got it!" she said, taking her position.

Noah turned to Emma, "Emma, you and I will hold up the rear."

"Right!"

"Let's go!" Troy said, and he, Jake, and Gia charged, while Noah and Emma stayed behind.

Jake and Troy clashed with the Spirits, with Gia covering their backs by striking down the Spirits that tried to get them from behind.

Noah produced his Shark Bowgun, "Ready, Emma?"

"Ready!" she said, both she and Noah holding out their weapons, ready to fire.

"Now!" he gave the order, and the two fired at the same time.

Emma's multitude shots hit all the Spirits, while Noah's single shot traveled around them and eventually found its target in Vilehive.

Now all the Spirits were gone, and Vilehive was weak enough for the finisher.

"Nice job, Noah!" Troy said, as the Blue and Pink Rangers ran up to join the other three.

Noah gave the order, "Weapons Combine!"

The five Rangers proceeded to combine their respective weapons into their giant crossbow-like weapon. "Starforce Blaster!"

They all placed their respective Power Cards into the Blaster.

"Sky Power!" Troy and Emma called.

"Land Power!" Gia and Jake called.

"Sea Power!" Noah called.

"Energize!" With this, the Blaster charged up, before they fired it together. "Dynamic Victory Charge!"

Vilehive exploded in a great fireball, but as soon as he did, Zombats flew in and brought him back, but giant size. It was so quick, that the Rangers literally had no time to celebrate their victory.

"Now I can really light the ocean on fire!"

"Let's go!" Noah said, the five taking out their Power Cards.

"Mechazords, Shine Down!"

"Summon Zords!"

After the Rangers all leapt into their mechazords, Troy told his team, "Let's do this!" before holding up his copy of a certain Power Card.

"Zords Combine!"

"Summon Megazord!"

Jake and Gia connected first, forming the legs. Troy followed up, forming the torso. Noah and Emma were last with the arms. The head was formed last.

"Gosei Great Megazord! Ready!"

The Megazord charged first, but Vilehive got the first strike. A few more punches from the Megazord, and Vilehive had had enough.

"You fools don't stand a chance!" he said, before sending a burst of heat at them.

The Megazord was getting roasted, both outside and in.

"We won't go down so easily!" Noah vowed, before pulling out a Power Card, "Sea Brothers, Shine Down!"

"Summon Zords!"

Out of the ocean sprung the Manta Star, the Hammerhead Star, and the Sawshark Star. The trio flew immediately fired at Vilehive, who had no choice but to release the Megazord from his heat wave.

"Activate Sea Star Megazord!" Noah said.

The three Zords, Hammerhead, Sawshark, and Manta, attacked themselves to the Megazord to form the new mentioned Megazord.

"Sea Gosei Great! Ready!"

The Rangers immediately went for the final strike, "Victory Charge: Shine Down!"

"On behalf of The Land Beyond and in memory of Raquel, your sentence is destruction!" Noah said.

"Sea Strike!"

"Victory Charge!"

Vilehive was finally destroyed for the last time, and the Rangers cheered.

"Come on out, Tensou!" Noah said. "Let's see the finished product." Ever since Gosei and Tensou's explanation of his nightmare, he was no longer out of it. The other Rangers being at his side also helped.

"Okay," Tensou called back from a section of the cave. When he stepped out, he was in a new robotic body, one that was larger and looked like an old arcade machine.

"Nice job, Tensou!" Gia said.

"Looks great," Jake replied.

"Thank you!" Tensou said. "I can jump now!" He demonstrated this and the following. "I can run around! And I can now help you guys fight!"

"Indeed," Gosei explained, "The larger the body, the more of our power it is able to hold."

Emma bounded over to Noah, "You okay? You look like something's still bothering you."

"I'm fine," he replied, fully meaning it this time. "It's just that...Raquel's body was never found, right? And her candle never went out, nor did the flame ever turn blue. So there's a possibility that she's still alive."

"There is," Gosei admitted.

"Then I propose that we make finding out her fate, or finding her, one of our top priorities," Noah suggested.

Troy smiled, "Absolutely." He held his hand out, and the other four joined in on the pile (Noah being the first one). "Raquel, if you can hear us now...we will save you."

"We promise," Noah quietly added.

The Land Beyond

Lanterns lit up the night sky, as the vigil for Raquel was currently being held. The entirety of The Land Beyond was silent, as they remembered Raquel's fighting spirit, her passion, her courage and bravery, and most of all, her love for her fellow humans.

They had all watched today's fight with Vilehive, and after a long debate with Mercredi, they all agreed to let the Rangers handle this themselves.

No words were needed now. They instead chose to let the Rangers from below do all the talking, and their determination was all that needed to fill the air.

'Raquel, if you can hear us now...we will save you.'

"'We promise'," Mercredi said, in tandem with Noah, tears pouring down his face.

Note: Will there be a Green Ranger in the future? Maybe. Remember that there are two Generals in The Land Beyond that haven't donated a portion of their powers yet. One of you also asked me if I would be adapting Datas into the story, and the answer is yes. Tensou's new robot body is Datas', and the next chapter is also part of this answer. And if you're confused about the Generals' appearance, think of the Foretellers from Kingdom Hearts.

Also, Raquel was originally male, before I realized it was a girl's name. So, yeah, Raquel's a female.

Season 1, Episode 10: "Spark of Hope"

"Tensou seeks to help Gia thwart an electricity-stealing monster with his new robot body when her foster sister Lily faces a crucial surgery."
