"He did it. He's a Ranger now. He should be happy. So why isn't he?"
Better Together
Power Rangers: Samurai REDO
Season 1, Episode 15: To the Sixth Power
Junk Ship, Sanzu River, Netherworld
June 21, 2014
"OCTOROO!" Said Nighlock jumped in fear when he heard Xandred call for him. "You said you'll give me answers about that Sealing Power, but you never do! What's the hold up?!" Xandred slapped one of the many Furry Warts, destroying it. "You do know there other Nighlock who could use that against me, right?!" He slapped another Furry Wart, making it collide into another and another and another (like a chain reaction), until one blew up in Octoroo's face.
"Believe me, Master," Octoroo said, "I've been searching and spying on the Rangers constantly. But we have another problem. The Samurai Rangers are now a team of six."
"WHAT?!"
Xandred was about to let his temper fly when something super fast came zooming in and destroyed all the Furry Warts.
"What is this?!" Xandred demanded.
"Say hello to Steeleto!" said the fast thing, a Nighlock currently hanging upside down on the ceiling, who stopped when all the Furry Warts were gone.
"What are you doing on the ceiling?" Octoroo asked. "You're not a bat! Get down from there!"
"Those Rangers cut down my Nighlock buddy Vulpes," Steeleto explained. "So I plan to cut them down to size." Steeleto jumped and landed on his feet, on the floor this time. "I refuse to rest until those Rangers get a taste of my blades. Especially the Gold Ranger. Later!" He called as he ran to the exit and jumped off the ship.
Dayu entered the scene immediately after, "He was so batty, he belonged on the ceiling."

Mia stared at the clock as it chimed, indicating it was now noon. "Antonio's still not back," she said, worriedly, as she continued to stir her cake mix.
Mike was trying to distract himself with one of his handheld video games, "I'm sure he's fine. He can take care of himself, you know."
Kevin was pacing, but he stopped specifically to argue with Mike, "He's been missing since before breakfast. He's not fine." (Kevin was trying to argue that there was a difference between physical and mental health, and he was right.)
"He needs space," Emily calmly spoke up from her book, "so let him have his space."
Before anyone could argue with her, Jayden stepped in, "She's right. If Antonio needs any help, he'll call us."
"Hey, take it easy, Jay," eight-year-old Antonio reassured his friend. "Just because our parents haven't called in a few hours doesn't mean they're gone. They could just be stuck in traffic. If they need any help, they know who to call."
That was the night the car crash happened. That was the night that fated Jayden and Antonio to practically become brothers. Losing their parents to a car wreck thanks to a careless drunk driver was a pain that both of them shared. They were friends long before then, but that was when they became inseparable.
They were brothers, both figuratively and legally, through and through.
Which was why Jayden currently felt a heavy burden on his shoulders. He had to be the one to talk to Antonio, to help him through whatever was bugging him.
He must've been psychic because, as if on cue, the front door opened and in stepped the one person they were all waiting for.
"Antonio!" Mia immediately stood up the moment he walked through the door. "Where have you been?"
"Dude, we've been worried sick about you," Mike paused his game, as he sat up straighter in his chair.
Antonio sent them a smile (that was clearly fake), "Sorry, amigos. I didn't mean to make you all worry. I'm fine. Has Ji fixed lunch yet? I'm starving," he called back as he stalked towards the back area (where the kitchen was).
He was trying to fake a smile, trying to convince the others nothing was wrong. But he wasn't fooling anybody.
Because once upon a time, every one of them had worn that smile before, so much so that they've learned to recognize it on others.
~B~E~T~T~E~R~~T~O~G~E~T~H~E~R~~P~O~W~E~R~~R~A~N~G~E~R~S~~S~A~M~U~R~A~I~~R~E~D~O~
Jayden found Antonio in the backyard moments later. Sure enough, the elder of the two was clearly depressed, no fake smile to be seen anywhere. So depressed, in fact, that Antonio didn't realize that he was no longer alone.
"Antonio?" At least, until Jayden spoke up.
Antonio nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard Jayden's voice. "Jayden? What are you doing up? I mean here! What are you doing here? Silly me, of course you're up. You always wake up at the crack of dawn. Sorry about my slip-up. I can't guarantee it won't happen again, because of course it will. I mean, you know me."
Jayden's smile was widening every second Antonio was ranting, until he finally cut the other off with a barely contained laugh that quickly developed into a chuckle (Antonio never failed to make him laugh; it was one of the reasons they became friends).
Antonio let slip a smile (quick, but real), and Jayden felt better upon realizing that Antonio still had the capacity to be happy, that what he was going through wasn't going to be permanent (but he still had to help him).
Once Jayden was calm again, he decided to get down to business, "What's wrong, Antonio?"
"Nothing's wrong, amigo," Antonio replied, back to his false happiness, "I'm fine."
Jayden was quiet for a moment, before he sat next down next to him. "Antonio, do you remember how we first met?"
"Hey, Shiba, why are you sad?"
"It's Jayden, actually. And I'm not sad. I just...have no friends."
"That's not true, Jayden Shiba. Because I'm your friend now. And friends tell each other everything."
"Yeah," Antonio softly replied, before letting a small smile slip. "I just came up to you one random day and claimed we were friends now."
"Yeah," Jayden smiled at the memory. "But you also told me something that's always stuck with me. Friends talk, but real friends listen, Antonio. You can tell me anything, you know."
"And friends tell each other everything."
Antonio took a while to respond, but when he did, he was quiet, "Yeah...I know." It only took another beat of silence before he felt comfortable enough to talk without fear of being pushed aside or laughed at (he could always count on Jayden to calm him down; it was one of the reasons they became friends). "I'm afraid."
"Of what?" Jayden gently pressed.
"What if...one day, I'm no longer worthy of being a Ranger?"
Antonio paused with just enough time to let Jayden reply, "The Zords usually have good judge of character. They act as our conscience. They will step in if they see you having problems with morals."
That was good to know. "What if...I never fix the Clawzord?"
"Have faith in your abilities, Antonio," Jayden calmly responded. "The Clawzord chose you for a reason."
Antonio took longer this time, but Jayden didn't have to ask why. "I'm afraid...of letting you guys down."
Jayden opened his mouth to respond, but the Gap Sensor, in that moment, chose a bad time to go off.
"Go on without me," Antonio immediately said.
The Red Ranger stood up and made a move towards the doors that led inside (and ultimately to the exit of the property).
But he stopped. He had to get it out.
"Antonio, not once have you ever let us down," he said, before leaving the House.

As soon as Steeleto entered the human world, he used his Super Speed to cut anything he saw, including humans who were now running away (as fast as snails, according to him).
He cornered a business man who just wanted to go home. The man cowered in fear, holding his briefcase as the Nighlock used his two blades to slash him continuously. When the slashes were gone, the man (though still scared) breathed a sigh of relief when he himself wasn't hurt, but his briefcase, his tie, and his jacket were all torn to shreds.
The Nighlock laughed, "Haha! You humans are too easy!" He turned back to the man. "Sorry, but you're time's up!"
The man saw a small mechanical lion fly in and attack the monster, and he took that as his cue to run away.
Steeleto tracked the Lion Zord back to its owner, the Red Ranger, who was standing there with his team (but missing one; according to the Marauders, there should be six facing him, right?), all fully morphed with Spin Swords drawn.
"Nighlock, stop right there!" Jayden called.
"Well, hello there, Rangers! Better late than never!" Steeleto replied. "I am Action Commander Steeleto. Not that you'll remember that, because it's time for me to pay you back for destroying my friend Vulpes! But I have special words for your Gold friend. Where is he? Too chicken?"
Jayden tensed up. Antonio was the one who destroyed Vulpes, who did the most damage.
"Good luck with that," Mike teased.
"Oh, I won't need luck!" Steeleto claimed, before charging in.
The first response of all five was stepping back in defense. Mike blocked the Nighlock's first attack. Kevin blocked the second. The three guys then attacked all together, but Jayden stepped back, managing to avoid Steeleto's attack while Kevin and Mike got hit with it. Emily got hit next, and as she fell, Mia got hit next. Kevin and Mike charged in next, this time both of them holding their own and standing their ground as their swords clashed with Steeleto's.
"Now!" Mike called.
Emily and Mia stood back up and charged at the Nighlock while his back was facing them.
But Steeleto saw this coming, "Don't worry. I've got my own back!" He extended blades from his body and struck the two girls down even moving.
"Emily! Mia!" Mike called out, as he and Kevin stood there dumbfounded by what just happened.
"I've never seen that before!" Kevin said.
"Watch out!" Jayden read Steeleto's next attack and tried to warn his two teammates still standing.
"That's right!" Steeleto said, his eyes glowing. "Watch this!"
With that, blades extended from his body, this time his front, and they hit Mike and Kevin, causing them to fly through the air and land behind Jayden.
Jayden called out to them, "Kevin! Mike!"
"Don't feel left out, Red!" Steeleto said. Jayden turned back to face him, seeing Mia crawling towards Emily behind the Nighlock. "I haven't forgotten you. Now, where's Goldielocks?"
"Not telling! You'll have to force it out of me!" Jayden raised his sword before charging in.
Jayden struck, which was blocked, multiple times, before he had to jump to avoid one of the Nighlock's attacks. After blocking the next shot, Jayden turned around and ran to the nearby cars, hoping to gain some cover.
He ducked, narrowly missing the strike that hit the car behind him. The two clashed once again, before Jayden jumped on top of the car. Jayden blocked a couple more strikes, before losing his balance and falling off the car and back onto the ground.
"Can you take the heat?" Steeleto asked, as Jayden got back on his feet. The Nighlock sliced the car with his two swords. The sparks that flew got right in Jayden's face and forced him to hit his back against the nearby wall.
"Full Body Blades!"
Steeleto's blades danced around Jayden, who blocked them all with the best of his abilities, before they just halted, not touching Jayden, but holding him there.
"Now, where's the Gold Ranger?!" Steeleto demanded, before multiple loud cracks sounded. He retracted his Body Blades, the nearby car on fire. "Aw man! Guess I'm out of water! But next time you Rangers won't be so lucky!"
Jayden watched as Steeleto disappeared in a flash of red. When the red flash was gone, the Nighlock with it, he breathed a sigh of relief, finally relaxing as he turned to his fallen teammates as they were getting up.
"You guys okay?" Jayden asked his team.
"Yeah, we're fine," Mike replied, as Mia and Emily leaned on each other for support. "Man, he was tough."
"He said he was after Antonio," Mia said. "Did Antonio ever say why he didn't come with us this time?"
"He has a lot on his mind," Jayden replied. Although, he felt like that didn't summarize everything, so he continued, "He's scared."
"We need to help him," Kevin said. "But how?"
Emily was quiet for a moment, before she spoke, "Y'know, my mom always said that there was a time for kindness, but there was also a time for what she called 'tough love'."
"'Tough love'?"
Emily merely nodded.

Later that day, Antonio found himself sitting on the patio in the front training yard, twirling his own silver-colored Samuraizer in his hands (He just made it today; it would be better to use because it was more practical than a using a Zord).
"Hey, Antonio!" Antonio's heart skipped a beat in fear when he heard a voice (this was the second time someone had taken him by surprise). He turned to see Emily in her training gear, closing the front door behind her.
"Oh, hey, Em," he let slip a small smile (because Emily had that kind of influence; you could never really be sad or depressed around her). "What's up? You about to train?" He motioned to her training garb.
"Yeah, actually," she replied, with a sickeningly sweet smile on her face (which made Antonio's stomach twist up in dread; that wasn't a good sign). "But I want you to train with me."
"What?" What was she planning?
"You heard me," her back was to him, as she picked up two practice swords from the nearby rack. She handed one of them to Antonio, saying, "Train with me. That's an order."
"Who died and made you leader?" Antonio couldn't help but ask.
"I am Jayden's Second, y'know," Emily reminded him. "I step up when he cannot." (Just like yesterday, during the Megazord fight with Vulpes.) Her tone was strict now. "Train with me."
Antonio felt like he had no choice but to obey, because it was never a good idea to get on Emily's bad side. So he took the practice sword from her and followed her out to the floor.
Emily saluted with her practice sword, before lunging forward. Antonio barely blocked her (when had she gotten so fast?). He lunged this time, but she easily blocked it.
"So tell me, Antonio," she spoke up, as their swords were pressed together, "why are you saying you regret your choice to become a Ranger?"
"I don't feel worthy enough," Antonio replied immediately (to his surprise; why did he speak the truth as soon as she asked for it?).
"The Clawzord wouldn't have chosen you if you weren't," Emily shot back.
"His mistake," Antonio curtly said before yelping in pain when Emily sharply jabbed him in the side.
"The Zords don't make mistakes," her expression was cold. Antonio didn't want to counterattack, but he was afraid of what she might to do him (with that face) if he didn't. So he did.
She blocked his attack, as he said, "You know, it's hard to accept that when you're abusing me here."
"Not abuse, Antonio," her eyes softened. "'Tough love'. Do you trust me?"
"Always, Em," he answered immediately.
"And I always do everything in my power not to abuse that trust," Emily softly replied. "I'm only trying to help. What else is wrong?"
Antonio lunged again, which Emily dodged before striking back. "Do you think I'll ever fix the Clawzord, Em?"
"Of course, you will," she answered, before taking a swing at him that he managed to block in time. "Have faith in yourself and in your abilities."
Antonio paused, "Jayden said the same thing."
"He's right," Emily was offering him a little smile of reassurance. "You have never let us down, Antonio. You're extremely reliable and very trustworthy. We couldn't have asked for a better Gold Ranger."
"You really think so?" Antonio asked, and Emily nodded. "Could you guys really accept someone with so many problems? So much baggage? Do you guys actually understand or are you just saying things to make me feel better?"
Emily was quiet, before she moved so suddenly, and the next thing Antonio, his practice sword was three feet away from him and he was on his knees (the back of his left one hurt; Emily had struck him there). He looked up and saw the fury in her eyes.
"You're not the only one who has problems," Emily's response surprised him. She looked angry, but she didn't sound like it (she sounded almost sad, mixed with angry). "You don't think that Jayden's difficulty accepting the fact that you're now unavoidably in harm's way counts as a problem?" Huh? Jayden still wanted to protect him from this? He was in now, wasn't he? Once you choose the path of the Ranger, you can't turn back. "You don't think that Mia is justified in her worry of her little brother now that he's graduated high school?" Oh, yeah. Terry was out of high school now, and Mia was concerned because he hadn't chosen a college or a major yet. "You don't think that Kevin has every right to be scared because his mom was just injured in the war and she might not make it back in one piece?" Kevin's mom was in the military, and she was admitted to a military hospital just last week. It was really taking a toll on Kevin and his dad. "You don't think Mike's fears of not only becoming his dad but also being a victim his entire life counts as baggage?" And Mike was still afraid that despite him putting family and friends first before himself, he would become his father later in life. "And Ji! He runs this entire household, but he still wants to help us with all of our problems, but doesn't, because he doesn't know how."
And all of that was leaving out the whole mystery behind the Keller Forest house, about Lauren and Serena and the other three that were missing or dead (though unspoken, it was widely assumed it was the latter).
Emily was right. He wasn't the only one with problems, with insecurities to deal with.
"Get up."
"What?" Antonio asked.
Emily nodded her head to his practice sword, still on the ground, but not out of reach, "I'm a Nighlock, Antonio. I've just defeated you, and now I'm going after your loved ones. Get up and fight back."
He did. He lunged and pressed their swords together. After a brief struggle, she pushed him off, got in multiple jabs at him that he blocked with his sword, before swinging at him. The sudden impact he wasn't prepared for made him fall backward on his behind.
He took to heart what Emily said and imagined that Jayden, Kevin, Mia, Mike, and Emily were out cold, de-morphed, and very injured, unable to get back up. Master Xandred was walking away, laughing because he won.
The very thought of this happening angered Antonio.
Antonio got up again, this time without Emily telling him to. He lunged once more, and this time, his attacks were fierce and she was the one blocking.
Finally, he found the opening to disarm her, and he took it. Now with both practice swords in her hand, he pointed them both at Emily.
Everything stopped. Emily showed no move of fighting back.
Instead, she smiled at him.
Antonio, in that moment, realized what Emily was trying to do, what she meant by 'tough love'. She was trying to build his warrior spirit up, and she succeeded.
It was also the first time he had won one of their spars, but Emily made sure it was fair. Both were on equal ground, and he had won.
He heard four pairs of footsteps coming closer. He glanced around and saw Jayden, Mike, Mia, and Kevin. They were there, watching and listening the entire time.
"Well done, both of you," Jayden said.
"Do you see now, Antonio?" Mike asked. "We are always here for you."
Mia explained, "You have our backs, so we have yours. That's what being on a team means."
"Exactly," Kevin said. "You don't give up on us, and we don't give up on you."
"Were you guys eavesdropping on Jayden and me earlier?" Antonio asked them, almost afraid of the answer.
"We didn't have to, actually," Mike replied. "It was evident from the start."
"So, I'm predictable?" He asked.
"You can be," Emily was the one who answered this time. "But this time, we recognized it in you, because we first recognized it in ourselves."
"I said this earlier, Antonio," Jayden spoke up, "but I'll say it again. Not once have you ever let us down. Never. We trust you with our lives, and we know you trust us with yours."
Antonio felt his eyes get misty, but he didn't have time to cry, because in the moment, the Gap Sensor went off.
A breif moment later, Ji opened the front door, and gave them the location, "Johnson and Miller Construction Site! You're never alone, Antonio. Don't push your team away."
Antonio glanced back down at his Samurizer, and smiled, before looked back up at his team, determined, "Come on, amigos. We've got a Nighlock's head to crack."
Ji smiled as all six Rangers left for the battlefield.

Steeleto leaned back, playing with his swords as he let the Marauders terrorize the construction workers. "Out of my way, mortals! The Rangers I'm going to shred should be here any second!"
As if on cue, the Rangers, unmorphed, arrived and stood in formation (Pink, Green, Gold, Red, Blue, then Yellow).
"Ah, there you are, Goldielocks!" Steeleto noticed Antonio. "I've been waiting for you." (Jayden mentally cursed; he had forgotten about Steeleto's vendetta against Antonio.)
"You'll have to catch me first!" Antonio shot back.
"Samuraizers!"
"Go, Go, Samurai!"
"Go, Gold Samurai!"
In a rainbow-colored flash, there the Rangers stood, all morphed and ready to go.
"Samurai Fire, Power Ranger Red!"
"Samurai Water, Power Ranger Blue!"
"Samurai Wind, Power Ranger Pink!"
"Samurai Forest, Power Ranger Green!"
"Samurai Earth, Power Ranger Yellow!"
"Samurai Light, Power Ranger Gold!"
"Rangers Together, Samurai Forever!"
Steeleto tapped his foot as he was waiting (rather impatiently), "You know, forever is a long time. Marauders, attack!"
Antonio watched the other five charge in to fight the Marauders. "That's my team. Wouldn't have it any other way." He then noticed that he was still in the same spot. "Oh, right! Gotta help! Barracuda Blade!" Antonio used his Super Speed to rush through his group of Marauders, striking them down with gold-colored slashes.
"Fire Smasher!" Jayden called, as his group of Marauders was destroyed with his fire.
Antonio came bounding up after this. "Good one, buddy!" He said as his eyes were drawn to the large Fire Smasher. "That was unreal..."
"You want to see something unreal?!" Steeleto asked, mad. "Steel Blade Scatter Shot!"
Antonio cowered behind Jayden, who used the Fire Smasher to block all the blades, but the force of said action caused an explosion and Jayden (his Fire Smasher now his Spin Sword) and Antonio to fall back.
Jayden turned to the other four, "Take cover, guys. Antonio and I will handle this creep ourselves!"
"Yeah, just like when we were kids!" Antonio remembered. "Just leave it to me, Jay. Swordplay is my specialty!"
The two friends charged and clashed with the Nighlock, one of his swords for each of theirs, mainly of the offense.
Steeleto took notice of how he was on the defense this time, "Is this your back-up plan? Because I won't be backing up for long!" He dodged the duo's next strike before striking them himself.
The two Rangers easily blocked it before pushing him off of them and striking back together.
Steeleto backed up, his chest in pain. "Nice try, losers! Full Body Blades!"
"Here it comes!" Jayden warned Antonio, and the two charged forward, smashing Steeleto's blades on the way.
"That's...a lot...of blades!" Antonio cried out, while they were doing so.
"Keep going! We've got this!" Jayden called back.
Once all the blades were smashed, two slashes struck the Nighlock down, one red and one gold.
Steeleto fell back, but he was given no time to get his bearings. The two Rangers were already charging up their final attack.
"Lion Disk!" Jayden called as he hooked the said Disk up to his Spin Sword.
"Barracuda Blade: Light's Barrage!"
"Spin Sword: Blazing Fury!"
"There's no need to be so snippy!" Steeleto called out to them, as all the strikes hit him full on.
Jayden and Antonio turned their back to the explosion that engulfed Steeleto, signaling the end of his first life.
"That was epic!" Mike said as he and the others ran up to them.
"When you did morph into Havoc Mode, Antonio?" Mia asked.
Antonio glanced down, and sure enough, his spandex was different. "You're right, Mia. When did that happen?"
"Just now," Jayden answered.
"By the way, Antonio, your Havoc Mode is currently incomplete," Kevin pointed out.
"Because the Clawzord is damaged," Antonio added.
"Yeah."
"Don't worry, Antonio, you did great," Emily said, and Antonio ran to give her a hug, which she returned.
"Thank you, Em!"
"Don't forget the Mega Monster," Jayden warned, and all six Rangers turned to face a now giant Steeleto.
"I'm going to cut you Rangers down!" Steeleto vowed.
"Let's go!" Jayden said.
"Samuraizers!"
"Lion Folding Zord!"
"Dragon Folding Zord!"
"Turtle Folding Zord!"
"Bear Folding Zord!"
"Ape Folding Zord!"
"Ready! Zords Combine! Samurai Megazord, We Are United!"
Steeleto charged in, "Time to shred some Rangers!"
The first strike missed, the second was blocked, and the third knocked away the Rangers' shield.
"Full Body Blades!"
And this attack caught them off guard. It was impossible to avoid them all. Steeleto retracted his blades as the Megazord fell to the ground.
"No!" Antonio called. "No one messes with my team and lives to tell about it!" He pulled out his Samuraizer and texted OctoZord. "OctoZord, I need you."
"Time to finish you off!" Steeleto said, unaware of a white and purple Zord arriving and blowing ink at him.
Steeleto was caught off guard by the ink cloud. "What?!"
"Guess you forgot about me!" Antonio said from the ground, before jumping up and landing in Octo's cockpit (still morphed in Havoc Mode). "I have Mega Power too!"
"Antonio! Combine with us!" Jayden said.
"Roger that!" Antonio said, before calling out, "Samurai Artillery!"
"It's been a while since I've done this!" Octo said as he split himself into three parts and shifted them to fit the Samurai Megazord.
"Octo Spear Megazord, Armed For Battle!"
Antonio had now joined the others in the cockpit, and was looking around, amazed at what he was seeing, "Wow, so this is what Megazord cockpit looks like."
"Yep!" Emily cheerfully replied. "Welcome aboard!"
"Thanks," Antonio said, before facing forward. "Now, let's do this!"
"As if combining will help you! Full Body Blades!" Steeleto said.
"Oh, it will," Antonio said.
"Spear Thrust!"
The Octo Spear used super speed to jab and destroy all Steeleto's blades.
"Ice Breath!"
The Octo Shield spit out a mist and froze Steeleto in place.
"He's vulnerable. Now's your chance," Octo told them.
"Roger that, OctoZord," Jayden said, before all six of them raised their swords and held them out in front of them.
"Katana Power: Electric Spear Charge!"
One downward slash later, and Steeleto was history.
"Samurai Rangers," Jayden started.
"Victory is Ours!" Antonio finished.

"Dude, you didn't have to treat us," Mike said to Antonio. "Though, I am enjoying the ice cream."
"I'm just grateful," Antonio replied, as he and the others ate their ice cream, the ice cream Antonio bought for them. "I've mostly been at the House during your fights in the past, but now that I'm a Ranger, I just wasn't prepared for it all. So thank you for reminding me about teamwork."
"You're welcome, Antonio," Emily said.
"Besides," Jayden cut in, "according to Ji and his book of prophecies written by the first team, this is a historical moment, one we've been waiting for and that the Nighlock fear the most. We have all six main Rangers back together, all six components of the Seal, that still need mastering, which means that the downfall of the Nighlock is inevitable."
"But, also according to the prophecies, they will fight back. It won't be all downhill from here," Antonio reminded him.
"You guys don't really believe in that stuff, do you?" Kevin asked.
"Lighten up, Kev," Mia said with a smile (that was Kevin for you).
"Yeah, stop being such a party pooper," Mike added. "We just won."
"Thank you," Antonio said, "now stop talking and enjoy your ice cream so we don't miss the movie."
Jayden and Emily glanced at each other before shaking their heads, smiling. This was their team.
And they wouldn't have it any other way.

Note: The next chapter should be out shortly (keyword 'should'). I apologize in advance if it's not up within the next week. (It should be. It's one of my favorite episodes, as well as one of my favorite chapters to write.)
By The Way: What Emily was doing would be considered abuse if she had left bruises and not given him a way to fight back. As I point out, she did give him a way to fight back and she made sure not to leave any injuries. Any comments that she was abusing him will be deleted, because you clearly were not actually reading the story or the context of that scene.
