"Make sure Mike eats his greens," Ji told Antonio. Ji was going on a little break for the week and it was about time for him to leave, and if it wasn't obvious, he was leaving Antonio in charge (because Jayden and Antonio both knew how Ji ran things, but Jayden, Kevin, Mia, Mike, and Emily were all needed for the Megazord if a Nighlock showed up, so Antonio was the better choice).

"I will," Antonio replied.

"Make sure Jayden gets to bed on time," Ji continued. "You know how he loves to train late at night."

"I will," Antonio repeated.

"Make sure Emily actually goes to sleep," Ji said, "and help her with any nightmares."

"I will."

"And make sure–!"

Tired of repeating himself and listening to Ji, Antonio cut him off. "Ji, I know! I know how you run things. So don't worry about a thing. We'll be just fine."

"I know. Sometimes, I can't help but worry," Ji replied, before waving goodbye and opening the door to the outside (where the other five were, training). "Goodbye, everyone. Behave and don't set the house on fire!"

"Hey!" Mike faux-protested. "It's like you don't trust us!"

"I do trust you," Ji replied, heading towards the front gate. "It's just...I trust some of you more than others."

"Bye, Ji," Jayden said, shaking his head, humored at Ji's last line. "Stay safe."

As soon as the front gate closed behind Ji, Kevin and Mia both entered the room, holding their phones (regular phones, not their Samuraizers).

"Guys, we got a text from Skyla!" Kevin announced to the other four.

"Who's Skyla?" Mike asked.

"A friend of ours," Mia explained. "Emily's met her before."

Emily nodded, smiling at the memories (from Bubbler's attack), "I have. Her dog Balto is a cutie."

"Ah, I love dogs," Mike muttered, as Jayden turned everyone's attention back to Kevin and Mia.

"What did Skyla say?" Jayden asked.

"She invited all of us to the city's Halloween Party tomorrow," Mia said. "She's hosting and she needs some help setting up today."

"Does she need all of us?" Mike asked, making a move to get up from his seat.

"No, just one," Kevin replied. "I already volunteered to go, since I already have a costume."

"Well, in that case," Jayden said, "get going."

Junk Ship, Sanzu River, Netherworld

"BRING ME MORE MEDICINE!" Xandred shouted.

"Take it easy, Master Xandred," Octoroo gently pleaded, reading a book from the archives. "Boy, you're in a bad mood today, like always."

A Marauders knelt in front of Xandred and was about to pour him some more medicine, but before it could, a large fireball made him explode.

"What?! Who dares?!" Xandred demanded.

"That fireball..." Dayu muttered. "Eleflame?!"

The said Nighlock came out from his hiding, hyperactive and energized. "Tomorrow is Halloween, the day of the Nighlock! I'm fired up!"

"You idiot!" Xandred yelled back. "You destroyed my medicine!"

"But I'm fired up, Master!" Eleflame pleaded. "I can't control myself!"

"YOU MORON!" Xandred smashed his bowl to the ground and made a move to get up, but Octoroo stopped him.

"Take it easy, Master!" Octoroo held up a bottle. "There's some more medicine right here."

Dayu, meanwhile, went over to the Nighlock, "Eleflame, if you ever wish to see the light of day again, you will hightail it out of here and raise the River to redeem yourself. Use that energy to burn up the humans."

"Yes, General!"

And with that, Eleflame left the ship.

Alone at the park amongst various Halloween decorations, Skyla glanced up from setting up the streamers to see Kevin walking towards her.

"Hey, Kevin!" She waved at her friend (since third grade). "Come to help set up for the party, huh?"

Kevin knelt next to Balto and pet him before standing back up. "Yeah. Y'know, since you asked so nicely," he teased.

"I didn't ask," Skyla pointed out. "All I said was 'Everyone's invited to the city-wide Halloween Party tomorrow. Please spread the news'. I didn't say anything about needing help setting up."

"Then, I guess it's just me," Kevin said. "I can't ignore a friend, whether they need help or not."

Skyla giggled. "Just like a Power Ranger."

Kevin chuckled, inwardly uncomfortable at her words. She didn't know how true they were, that she had said those words to an actual Power Ranger.

But he ignored it, "So, what would you like me to do?"

Skyla pondered, "Hmm...you could start blowing up the balloons."

"On it," Kevin said, before walking over to the air tanks. But before he could start on the first balloon, an explosion nearby almost knocked the duo off their feet.

Kevin immediately stood on alert as fire raged where the explosion was, never stopping.

"Stay here!" Kevin told Skyla as he raced towards the sight.

He had to see if it was a Nighlock.

"Wait! Kevin!" Skyla shouted as she ran after him. "Don't go towards the explosion!"

Tech Zone Business Building, City Square, Panorama City, California

"I love watching the world burn!" Eleflame exclaimed as his fire went everywhere, as the humans ran away from the fire and to safety.

"Earth Slicer!"

Eleflame ducked as the mentioned weapon almost sliced his head off.

Emily caught her shuriken when it came back, as Jayden, Mia, and Mike (all four of them fully morphed) gathered around her.

"Power Rangers?!" Eleflame said. "How dare you get in my way?!"

"You're an idiot," Mike said, swinging his sword around in his hand, "if you think we'd just stand by and watch."

"We're putting out your flames, Nighlock!" Jayden said, before he and Mike rushed in.

"You Rangers are only making it worse," Eleflame exclaimed as he dodged Jayden and Mike's sword attacks. "Making me mad will only make my flames stronger!" He warned before knocking both guys to the ground.

Jayden was back on his feet by the time Mike went down. He stepped in front of his green teammate as Mia and Emily ran up to him. "Spin Sword: Blazing Fury!"

The attack hit the Nighlock dead on, but the four Rangers were caught off-guard when Eleflame simple absorbed all the fire.

"What?!" Jayden exclaimed.

"Of course," Emily pointed out as Mia helped Mike to his feet. "If it's power is over fire, of course, it's going to be immune to fire."

"That's right, Yellow! I'm invincible against Mr. Big Shot Red!" Eleflame replied.

Mia called out, summoning her weapon, "Then, let's try this! Sky Fan!"

However, the burst of wind she caused only fanned the Nighlock's flames.

"Thanks for the power boost, Pinkie!" Eleflame laughed. "You Rangers are hopeless!"

Eleflame sent out a large flame, hitting all four Rangers dead on. The four were having trouble getting up.

"This is bad," Jayden muttered to his team. "We're evenly matched with him."

"We need Kevin," Mia said. "Following scientific logic, we need water to put out fire. Fire and wind will only make things worse."

"But he's with Skyla," Mike reminded them.

Emily then pointed to the sight in front of her. "There he is!"

"Go, Go, Samurai!" Kevin leapt into the fray, morphing on the way.

"Uncle Bulk! Wait!" came a voice. "I don't think your cell phone is here!"

Bulk and Spike, having stumbled upon the scene by accident, immediately halted at the sight of the Nighlock turning to them.

"Run!" The Red Ranger called out to them.

"He's right, Uncle Bulk," Spike said. "We need to go."

"But..." Bulk stammered, "the Rangers need help!"

"There's nothing we can do!" Spike shot back, pulling on his uncle's arm. "We're just two ordinary guys with no powers!"

"You two are irritating me," Eleflame said, before shooting a wave of fire at them. "I'd lvoe to see you two burn!"

"Watch out!"

The other four couldn't move (due to injuries) and Kevin wasn't fast enough to stop what happened next.

"Skyla!" Mia and Emily both shouted.

Skyla had jumped in and took the nasty hit for Bulk and Spike.

By this time, Kevin had recovered from his shock and stepped in to take the remaining flames. The other four Rangers finally stood as Kevin rolled down the stairs, engulfed in flames which eventually died down.

"I'm dried out already?!" Eleflame said. "Next time, you Ranger punks won't be so lucky!"

They all watched as the Nighlock slipped through a Gap.

Hospital Wing, Shiba House, Gianni Forest, Panorama City, California

Skyla's world faded from darkness to color, to a place she'd never been to before.

Scared, she cautiously called out, "H-Hello?"

A blonde-haired girl in yellow immediately came into view. "Oh, you're awake!" She exclaimed. "Hold on a moment." The girl left view and called out to other residents of the house, "She's awake!"

Five people promptly entered the room, two of which Skyla recognized.

"Kevin? Mia?" She asked, her voice scratchy and hoarse. Her body ached all over and she could practically feel the fever she currently had raging.

"Yeah, it's us," Mia replied, taking the blonde girl's place (who she now knew to be Emily). "How to you feel?"

"Like I'm on fire," Skyla replied.

"You were attacked by a Nighlock," the man in red spoke up (who Skyla knew to be Jayden). "Do you remember that?"

"Yeah," Skyla paused, looking around at all six people in the room with her (Jayden, Kevin, Mia, Mike, Emily, and Antonio). The colors they were wearing looked very familiar, and the fact that she was in a house with all of them was rather suspicious. "Are you guys...the Samurai Rangers?"

The six were quiet and tense as they processed her question, or pondered over how they were going to answer it (probably both).

Kevin and Mia looked at each other, almost panicking, before turning to Jayden, who nodded. "How did you figure it out?" Kevin asked.

"Your colors," Skyla replied. "Also the fact that you guys all share the same house, right after the last I remember being the Rangers calling out to me, by name I might add. You guys aren't exactly subtle."

"Because that's not our primary concern," Antonio gently revealed. "It's the safety of the innocent, which includes hiding our identities."

"So me knowing who you guys are is a problem?" Skyla asked.

"It's only a problem if the Nighlock know that you know who we are," Jayden corrected. "Other than that, if you keep our identities a secret, we have no issues."

"Oh." Mike handed Skyla a glass of water, which she took with gratitude, "Thank you". After taking a much-needed sip, she asked, "So you guys are the Power Rangers."

"Yep," Mike said. "And the Nighlock that attacked you is Action Commander Eleflame. He controls fire."

"Right," Skyla replied. "I figured that out for myself easily. And the cause for the kids' parents disappearing that one time..."

"Action Commander Bubbler," Mia replied. "He had the ability to exile people and all memories of them to another dimension. You and the kids were protected because I was there."

"Oh, so that's what happened." Mia nodded. "And the brides disappearing?"

"General Dayu," Antonio said. "She wanted their tears for a plan that never got off the ground, thanks to us."

"People getting sick?"

"Action Commander Yamiror," Mike said. "His bad breath was making them sick."

"The attack at the park?"

"Action Commander Robtish," Jayden said. "We made sure no one got hurt except for us."

"And people passing out randomly?"

"Action Commander Splitface," Kevin said. "He was stealing people's spirits."

Skyla was beginning to connect the dots, "Okay, so people's happiness being stolen was also a Nighlock, as was people temporarily turning evil."

"Yep," Mia said. "Souleater and Jartle, to be exact."

Kevin knelt next to Skyla's bed. "We beat them all, Skyla, and we'll beat this one too. Eleflame doesn't stand a chance."

Skyla smiled, feeling tired, sleep beginning to weigh her down, "I know."

Kevin and Mia were both panicking when Skyla closed her eyes, but Antonio eased their fears, "It's okay. She's just asleep."

"Good," Jayden said. "She needs it."

"Kevin," Emily softly spoke up, "it's not your fault." She could sense Mia's sadness, but Kevin's guilt really took the cake. "You didn't know she had followed you."

"I should've known!" Kevin beat himself up. "Our suits protected us, but she's my friend, my responsibility."

"Emily's right, Kev," Mia quietly agreed. "Skyla is still alive, and according to the records, the Swordfish Zord can negate any injuries Eleflame causes to people who aren't as lucky as we are."

"But Eleflame is still out there!" Kevin pointed out.

"We'll get him, Kev," Mike calmly replied. "We always do."

Kevin was quiet as he nodded, tears filling his eyes.

Jayden smiled (meant to comfort Kevin), "In the meantime, why don't we set up for the party tomorrow? Antonio, look after Skyla, and see if you can use the Swordfish Zord to heal her." Antonio nodded. Jayden turned back to Kevin, who looked somewhat bewildered at Jayden's suggestion to help with the party in Skyla's party. "It's the least we can do, Kevin. Let's go."

Kevin smiled as he followed the other four.

And the Rangers worked all through the night.

The next morning, the Rangers were ready for Eleflame. The (mini) Dragon Zord caught the Nighlock off-guard and turned his attention to the already morphed, standing in formation, Samurai Rangers.

"It's over, Nighlock," Kevin said. "We're bringing your reign of terror to an end."

"Buzz off, Rangers!" Eleflame yelled back. "This day belongs to the Nighlock!"

Jayden hooked his black Power Disk up to his Spin Sword. "Samurai Fire, Power Ranger Red!"

"Samurai Water, Power Ranger Blue!"

"Samurai Wind, Power Ranger Pink!"

"Samurai Forest, Power Ranger Green!"

"Samurai Earth, Power Ranger Yellow!"

"Rangers Together, Samurai Forever!"

"Would you Rangers get out of my way?!" Eleflame angrily demanded, before charging at them.

Hospital Wing, Shiba House, Gianni Forest, Panorama City, California

Skyla woke up to an alarm and a symbol on the wall flashing red. "What's that?" She asked, panicking when she didn't see Kevin or Mia in sight.

Antonio was right beside her. "That's the Gap Sensor. It means the Nighlock is back. Don't worry, the other five are already on the scene."

"Are they losing?" Skyla asked.

"What?"

"Are they losing?" Skyla repeated. "They're already there, which means they prepared for this. Are they losing?"

"I don't know," Antonio said. "If they need help, they'll call me."

"I need to get over there," Skyla said, starting to get out of bed.

"What? Why?" Antonio demanded.

"I need to make sure they win!" Skyla said, not stopping.

City Square, Panorama City, California

Another fire blast caused the five Rangers to hit the wall behind them.

"You Rangers are too easy!" Eleflame said. "When will you learn not to mess with me? Today is Halloween. Halloween belongs to the Nighlock!"

"No, it doesn't," Mike grunted back.

Kevin got to his feet and rushed forward. Eleflame easily dodged the Blue Rangers' swings, before kicking him in the side. But Kevin didn't stay down.

"You're going to pay for what you did to Skyla!" Kevin exclaimed.

"How can I?" Eleflame asked. "You can't even land a hit on me!"

Another blast of fire stopped Kevin from rushing forward anymore.

"Kevin!" Mia called out, before rushing over to help him, the other three hot on her heels.

Eleflame turned into a fireball, "Just give up, Rangers! It's easier that way!"

Skyla and Antonio (who rushed after Skyla, who was in no condition to be running back to the battlefield) arrived just in time to see the five Rangers demorph after getting hit by the giant fireball that was the Nighlock.

"I told you!" Eleflame said. "You Rangers are no match for a me! Today belongs to the Nighlock!"

"No, it doesn't!" Skyla finally blurted out. The six on the battlefield (including Antonio) turned to her. "Getting revenge isn't what a Ranger does! All they should be focusing on is protecting the innocent! As long as the Rangers don't give up, every day belongs to the humans!"

The five Rangers smiled, before getting back on their feet.

"She's right, you know," Emily muttered.

"Yeah, we can't allow ourselves to be easily beaten like this," Mike agreed.

"People rely on us," Mia said. "So we can't let them down."

"Hell of a friend you have there, Kevin," Jayden said, let a smile slip.

"Yeah, she'd make a great Ranger." Kevin said, fondly.

By this time, all five Rangers were back on their feet. Seeing this, both Skyla and Antonio smiled.

"Thank you, Skyla," Kevin said, standing in the middle of the formation now. "We're lucky to have a friend like you."

"WHAT?!" Eleflame noticed this. "How are you Rangers still standing?!"

"Because we never stand alone," Kevin said. "Samuraizers!"

"Go, Go, Samurai!" They morphed to protect themselves from the incoming fireball, with Kevin in Havoc Mode. "Rangers Together, Samurai Forever!"

"Now you're really irking me off!" Eleflame turned into a fireball again.

"Spin Sword: Water Wall!" Kevin's water attack easily blocked the fire and forced Eleflame back onto the ground.

Jayden, Mike, Emily, and Mia all used their super speed to land hits on him, before Kevin attacked again with his Water Power.

"Spin Sword: Dragon Splash!"

Jayden let Kevin use the Swordfish Disk on his Fire Smasher.

"Five-Disk Swordfish Cannon! Fire Strike!"

Despite Eleflame's vehement protests, his first life ended.

But it wasn't over yet. "The bigger I am, the bigger the flame, Rangers!" Eleflame said, growing into his second life. Antonio urged Skyla to follow him back to the Shiba House, and she easily agreed.

"Zords Combine! Samurai Megazord, We Are United!"

The Megazord unsheathed its katana, as Eleflame threw another fireball at them. It was easily blocked with the shield, but the force of the blast still pushed the Rangers back.

"Let's end this as quickly as possible," Jayden said. "Kevin!"

"Right! Summon Swordfish Zord!"

The Swordfish Zord sprayed water that easily put out the Nighlock's fire, before smacking into the Nighlock himself.

"Swordfish Torpedos!" All of them hit their target dead on.

"Let's end this!" Jayden said, hooking up the Tiger Disk to his Sword. "Summon Tiger Zord!"

"Right!" Mia said, hooking up the Beetle Zord to her Sword. "Summon Beetle Zord!"

"Zords Combine! Battlewing Megazord, We Are United!"

The Megazord flew up into the air, before coming back down for the finishing blow.

"Katana Power: Super Aerial Strike!"

And with that, Eleflame had no more lives to use.

"Samurai Rangers, Halloween is Ours!"

After Antonio used the 'Heal' kanji, using the Swordfish Disk, on Skyla, the girl was free to go home (with Antonio escorting her there, just to be safe).

It was nighttime, and Skyla had used her bandages as part of her costume (just because she was mostly healed didn't mean that she didn't have injuries to still recover from). She had turned her rockstar costume into a mummy rockstar.

"Hey, Skyla!" She turned around when she heard Kevin's voice, and she smiled when she saw all six Rangers standing there, in costume.

"Hey, guys!" She greeted. "Nice costumes!"

"Thank you," Mia curtsied.

Jayden was dressed as a pirate, Kevin as Albert Einstein, Mia as a piece of sushi, Mike as a zombie, Emily as an angel, and Antonio as a 'ceiling fan' (he was wearing a shirt that said "Go, Ceiling, Go!").

"How are you feeling?" Emily asked, as the Halloween-themed music continued playing in the background.

"Much better," Skyla said. "Thank you. All of you."

"Thank you," Jayden returned. "We wouldn't have won without you."

Skyla smiled as two guys came up to her, one pumpkin and one skeleton.

"Excuse us, Miss Skyla?" Skyla turned to the two guys that just came up to her and asked for her attention.

"Oh, Mr. Bulk and Mr. Spike," she smiled at them.

The two held out a bouquet of hydrangeas. "These are for you," Spike said. "Thank you for saving us."

"You're welcome," Skyla replied, taking the bouquet in her arms.

She felt content now. Some of her injuries still burned, but they were healing. Bulk and Spike were okay, alive, and grateful that she had been there. And with the Rangers there, Halloween belonged to the people, not the Nighlock.

Today was a good day.

Note: Hope you enjoyed this chapter. Sorry it was so late. I still have two more chapters to write before the Christmas special, so don't count on it actually being up on Christmas this year. But, good news, after the Christmas Special is Season 2!

In apologies for the late update, here are some spoilers for the upcoming adaptations I plan on doing:

Goseiger Adaptation – dubbed "Starforce":

There will have two seasons, none of them having anything to do with Gokaiger.

You will meet Robo Knight (dubbed "Starforce Knight") far before his debut as Starforce Knight.

None of the five Rangers start out as friends. That comes much later. Also, the end pairings will change from canon.

Jordan becomes a supporting character after his debut.

There will be a Green Ranger, who is connected to the heavenly beings who give the Rangers their powers. Gosei and Tensou are two of these beings, both of whom can change bodies at will.

Gokaiger Adaptation – dubbed "Legacy Keepers" (if you've read by On Hiatus fic "Legendary Guardians", you'll understand where I'm going with this):

Orion will still be the Silver Ranger, and the five Core Rangers will have different names (Selim, Georgie, Vivi, Milo, and Ava), but you've met them all before in previous seasons. Also, Yellow and Pink swap colors/body types (for personal reasons).

Basco will be adapted as "Silas" and have a surprising role to play in the story (which is still connected to the Greater Powers, which are earned, not just given).

Romance is not the main focus. Family is (biological or surrogate, it doesn't matter). Expect a lot of team moments.

Plot holes from previous seasons will be tied up (or at least, attempts will be made).

The pre-MMPR suits' existence will be explained. Some will have creative reasons. Some won't.

Kyoryuger Adaptation – dubbed "Dino Charge"

Sledge's monsters have a different origin. They are born from the negative emotions of humans. They are called Inner Monsters (much like Ryusoulger).

Sledge and Keeper have a very close connection (one I will not reveal here).

Suit colors are swapped. Most colors are the same, except Aqua is now Yellow (and will end up being female), Graphite is now Orange, and Navy is now White (which will end up as female, as well).

The Energems' origins are given proper focus and Heckyl will also have a proper redemption arc.

Finding James Navarro is more difficult that it appears. Expect lots of angst in regards to this topic.

Ninninger Adaptation – dubbed "Ninja Steel"

There used to be a Yellow Ranger before Calvin. His name was Chantz Simpson (named after the original actor who quit before Calvin became who he is today).

Calvin and Hayley used to be in a relationship, and must become friends for the sake of the team. They don't end up as one of the end pairings, though.

There is a Green Power Star (dubbed a "Power Shuriken"), and the Green Ranger will be female.

Brody, Levi/Aiden, and Hayley are childhood friends.

The first chapter is equivalent to an hour-long episode (same with Dino Charge's first chapter).
