A/N: Here is the next chapter of my Dino Charge rewrite. Again, don't be alarmed that this chapter like the one in canon (save for a few changes). They will be more and more different down the line.

Disclaimer: I do not own Power Rangers Dino Charge or Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger. I just own most of the plot and the characters and things you don't recognize from the original versions.

"When Poisandra uses Ranger clones to steal the E-Tracer, she must face down two enemies to keep it in her hands: the Rangers, of course, and Fury."

Break the Chains That Divide

Power Rangers: Dino Charge REDO

Season 1, Episode 07: Double Trouble

Old Deboth Castle, Amber Beach, California

June 10, 2017

A new Inner Monster, named Duplicon, had surfaced and revealed itself to them, and explained that he had the power to make clones. Considering this, Fury made sure that he was the first one to speak up that morning, "Master Sledge, I have an idea on how we can use Duplicon's abilities to steal the Rangers' Energem tracker."

He couldn't let Poisandra have all the fun or the credit, now could he?

Like he knew she would, Poisandra immediately objected to this, "I don't think so, Fury! I was the one who found the Yellow Ranger and his Zord within the same day! And I did it with my brain, not brute force! I should get seniority!"

"What about me?!" Wrench suddenly cut in. "I was the one who realized that the Rangers had an Energem tracker in the first place!"

Curio was the only one who noted Sledge rubbing his head, trying to ease his headache, so she calmly offered, "We obviously have different strengths, so why don't we work together?"

"I agree with Curio," Sledge cut in, interrupting the argument between the three Generals. "The obvious plan is to use Duplicon's clones to fool the Rangers, but it's clear that Curio is the only one among you with common sense. So I place her in charge for this mission, and all three of you will answer to her."

Poisandra shrugged, "I have no problems with that."

"Neither do I," Wrench also agreed.

But Fury took a while, and it was soon clear that all eyes had turned to him, as they all waited for his answer. Eventually, he answered, "Fine..."

Curio was incredibly smug as she ordered all four, the three Generals and Duplicon, to follow her, "To my quarters, everybody! Time to come up with a plan!"

Koda took his perch within a tree, watching for any threats, while Shelby and Riley set up the E-Tracer. Kendall had assigned them to search for the Gold Energem, or the Pterazord (either one was fine, to be honest).

Shelby took the Ptera Charger that Kendall had created just this morning out of her pocket, and placed it into the machine, "With these, we'll be able to pinpoint the location of the Gold Energem or the Ptera Zord."

Tyler chose to take this time to write in his dad's journal (with his writing hand, his left hand), saying the words in his head as he wrote them down, "June 10th, 2017. Hey, Dad. It's been a while, but I hope you'll understand that I've been busy. Nearly every day has been filled with either cafe duties or fighting Inner Monsters, or both. But I'm not alone. I have a great team that I can rely on."

He looked up to Chase, who was reading a book about the various species of flower that grew here in America to keep himself occupied until he was needed. Tyler smiled at side.

"Chase is a little introverted, and he obviously has some trust issues, but there's no doubt that he always has our backs."

He turned to Riley, who was helping Shelby with the E-Tracer, "Alright, I've calibrated it to search the grid from left to right."

"Riley is always analyzing things and training to be better. He makes me try harder too."

Shelby shoved Riley aside as she knelt next to the E-Tracer in Riley's place, "No, no, that's wrong!"

"Shelby is really smart and incredibly tough, and hey, I think she's cute."

"I already calibrated it to search from right to left," Shelby continued.

Tyler snuffed a chuckle, "And kinda stubborn." He then looked up, where Koda was perched in the branch. "And you wouldn't believe how strong Koda's animal-like instincts are. It's amazing." He thought about the three people that were currently not here, and continued writing, "We have a few friends who work with us behind the scenes too. Callie may be partially deaf, but she's a little goofball who only sees the best in everybody. She keeps the rest of us on track. Kendall, er...Ms. Morgan, is our fearless boss who often works way too long and hard. It's easy to forget that she's only 26 years old. And finally, there's Keeper. We don't see him much, and I can tell he gets lonely sometimes, but whenever he's needed, he always shows up."

He then glanced up into the sky, observing the clouds that slowly rolled on by.

"I miss you so much, Dad. I still wear your bracelet," he breifly played with the black leather cord, anchor charm bracelet on his left wrist, "waiting for the day I can finally give it back to you. Mom misses you, and Sierra has agreed to help me look. Neither of us will ever give up on finding you."

Tyler nearly jumped out of his skin when Koda suddenly landed next to him.

"Koda, how many times have I asked you to stop doing that?" Tyler asked, referencing Koda scaring him by jumping out of trees.

"Tyler, you smell," Koda replied.

"I do?" Tyler smelled his shirt confused.

"Not you," Koda explained. "The air. Smell."

The others were confused by this exchange until Shelby's Dino Comm suddenly went off, and she immediately answered it, "Hey, Ms. Morgan. What's up?"

"Non-human biosigns in your area," Kendall replied. "And they're getting closer to you as we speak."

Tyler, trying to stay calm, immediately said, "Shut down the E-Tracer." Shelby and Riley immediately did so, as Chase stood up, his Morpher in hand. "We need to leave. Now."

"Right," Shelby said, before Tyler grabbed the E-Tracer. She stopped him for a moment, "Be careful with the E-Tracer. It's irreplacable."

Tyler nodded and left for his Jeep. The other four stayed behind, watching out for Sledge or his minions just in case.

Tyler secured the E-Tracer in the trunk and hopped into the driver's down, just as the others returned, all four of them fully morphed, and hopped into their seats.

Confused, Tyler turned to Chase, who was in the seat next to him, "Are we morphing?"

But Chase simply held a finger up to his mouth (or where it would be without the helmet) and pointed at the road in front of them.

Just keep driving.

At the time, Tyler didn't question this.

~B~R~E~A~K~~T~H~E~~C~H~A~I~N~S~~T~H~A~T~~D~I~V~I~D~E~~D~I~N~O~~C~H~A~R~G~E~~R~E~D~O~

Tyler rolled his eyes for the hundredth time as he continued to drive, "Guys, I told you. You can de-morph now. The E-Tracer is safe."

Still no answerfrom any of them.

Again, at the time, Tyler didn't question it, but as time went on, he began to get rather unnerved at the fact that not once did any of his four teammates speak to him, when they normally would have.

For the love of Jesus Christ, they were not a quiet group. Just ask Ms. Morgan!

Tyler raised an eyebrow in confusion when his Jeep suddenly stalled, "Huh?" His car came to a stop, and Tyler rolled his eyes in agitation, "What now?" He got out of the car, apologizing to the others, "Sorry, guys. I don't know what's going on. I just tuned her up last week." He lifted up the hood and what he found was what set off his inner alarm, the one that told him something was off and very wrong. "Who cut these wires?" At least, it explained why his Jeep suddenly stalled for no reason.

But it did not explain who did it and why.

He could easily fix it, but his concern over who or why did not go away.

As he reached in to fix the wires, his Dino Comm suddenly went off. Thinking it was Ms. Morgan, he immediately answered, "Hello?"

"What the hell, Tyler?!" Said male immediately looked at the screen. Sure enough, it was Shelby, unmorphed and looking mightily pissed off. "You left us behind!"

"What?" Now, this was just ridiculous. "No, I didn't!" He looked away from his hood, "You guys are right-" he cut himself when he saw the four who were in the car with him just moments before suddenly out of the car, surrounding the trunk, the Pink Ranger holding the E-Tracer, all four of them surrounded by a squad of Vivix, "...here," he finished.

"Tyler? Are you okay?" Shelby asked. "What's going on?"

The four Rangers in front of him transformed into Vivix themselves, their true forms, and Tyler mentally apologized to Shelby, "I'll have to call you back." He then hung up on Shelby in the middle of her calling his name, placed his Comm into his pocket, and got into a defensive position. "Give me back the E-Tracer," he told the squad of Vivix in front of him, "or you will regret it."

"Haha!" came a familiar female laugh. Sure enough, Poisandra stepped onto the scene, along with Curio and a monster that Tyler immediately noted was probably an Inner Monster. "I don't think so!" Poisandra continued, "As you can see, you're incredibly outnumbered here."

"My team will find me," Tyler shot back.

"They can't if we destroy you first!" Poisandra said.

"Duplicon, attack!" Curio ordered. The said Inner Monster blasted Tyler, sending him flying over the wooden fence on the side of the road.

He must've hit his head, because Tyler didn't remember anything after that.

Callie stood at attention in front of her art teacher's desk, "Ye wanted ta see me after class, Mr. Campbell?"

She was nervous. This was her first week of her college summer classes (her brother's idea), and she didn't want to be in trouble already.

"Yes, I did," Mr. Campbell said. "I've kept this on the down low so as to not alert them that I'm on their trail, but someone may be trying to copy other students. As you know from my rules-" he began.

"Ye despise art thieves," Callie finished, looking at the poster on the wall with all ten of Mr. Campbell's classroom rules.

"Correct," Mr. Campbell continued. "I believe that every artist should have their own style. Now, before you say anything, I know that you're not the art thief. I've seen you drawing in your sketchbook, and I've seen some of those sketches first hand already. I called you here because I'm concerned that you're one of the students being stolen from." Callie smiled, grateful that her art teacher looked at the world with logic and reason. He continued, "The computers in this room all share a network, and thus the same Cloud folder."

Callie would see where this was going, "I don't use the Cloud folder." She reached into her bag and pulled out a flash drive with 'McLoughlin' written on it on Sharpie. "I use my brother's USB drive."

Mr. Campbell breathed an audible and visible sigh of relief.

She then offered, "Y'know, it's almost impossible ta hide anythin' from me. If ye want, I can try ta find out who the thief is myself."

Mr. Campbell waved away her offer, "No, no, that's alright. I can handle it. You just focus on your projects. You are dismissed, Miss McLoughlin."

Callie nodded in understanding, before turning around to leave.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the man suddenly hunch over in pain, looking rather green around the gills.

"Mr. Campbell, are ye alright?" Callie asked, immediately concerned.

"I'm fine," he replied, shrugging off her concern. "It's just stress."

Callie wisely said nothing, only choosing to leave.

Mr. Campbell getting weak after admitting to Callie of a lingering resentment had to be no coincidence at all.

Dino Base, Amber Beach Dinosaur Museum, Amber Beach, California

Kendall didn't look up from her laptop, but she knew that Chase, Shelby, Riley, and Koda had (somehow) found a way back to the base.

"Any word on Tyler?" Shelby asked, immediately walking over to Kendall.

"Not yet," Kendall replied, still typing away. "I'm getting concerned, though. He's not answering his Dino Comm."

Just then, Chase's own Dino Comm went off, and he answered it immediately, "Hey, Callie. Not a good time, to be honest. What's up?"

The sweet Irishgirl was indeed on the other end, "I don't know fer sure, but there might be an Inner Monster on the loose."

"What do you mean?" Chase asked, as the other three slowly surrounded him in interest and intrique.

"My art teacher, Mr. Campbell, told me that he has a hatred for art theives," Callie explained, "and as I left, he hunched over in pain. Again, I don't know fer certain, but he wasn't sick yesterday."

"Art thieves?" Shelby asked.

Chase and Shelby shared a look of alarmed concern, and both said simultaneously, "Clones."

"Huh?" Callie asked, confused. It was obvious as to why, though, since she wasn't with them this morning.

Riley, fortunately, realized the same thing Chase and Shelby did, and explained it to her, "This morning, Tyler left us behind because he thought that we were already with him. It's highly possible that the enemy used clones of us to trick him."

Koda nodded in sudden understanding as Shelby and Chase both solemnly nodded at Riley.

Out of the blue, Callie suddenly warily asked, "Um...ye lads are in the base...right?"

Chase immediately caught her tone, "What's wrong, Callie?"

Callie repeated her question, this time with more urgency and panic, "Ye lads are in the base, yes or no?"

"Yes," Shelby answered. "With the exception of Tyler, we have been this entire time."

"What's wrong, Callie?" Chase repeated his own question. He was concerned about Callie and she hadn't given him any idea as to what was going on where she was.

Callie simply gave the camera a worried look, before switching the view from selfie mode to landscape mode (what a normal camera's view was).

There, in Callie's view, was the Rangers, all five of them, morphed, standing around as they took orders from an Inner Monster (Duplicon) and Fury.

The four immediately jumped into action, and Chase was quick to say, "Hang on, Callie. We'll be there soon."

"Okay."

Chase then hung up, and Keeper gave them some last minute advice, "Work together, Rangers. Kendall and I will continue to search for Tyler."

The four nodded before leaving the base, grabbing their Energems on the way.

Tyler was groggy when he came to. He didn't remember what happened after he passed out, but he knew that Poisandra, Curio, Duplicon, and the E-Tracer were all long gone by now.

This was all his fault. He should have known they were fakes. Not once did they talk to him, and their behavior was strange right off the bat, now that he thought about it.

By the time his world was back to normal, Tyler immediately got his feet and ran to where his Jeep was, hoping to use it to ride back quickly.

Nope. It was still trashed.

So, with no other options, Tyler brought out a lime-yellow colored Charger, "Dino Charge, Ready!" and placed it into his Morpher.

"Dino Cycle Charger, Engage!"

He shot at the ground, and out of it rose two small mechanical dinos, one black and the other yellow. He then took the Charger out of his Morpher and threw it at them, the Charger enlargening on the way.

The two dinos seemed to fight over it, but the two both bit opposite ends of it, creating the Dino Cycle.

As it sped closer to him, Tyler used the fence post close by to jump up and morph on the way down, landing perfectly in the seat of the Cycle.

He'd have to come back later for his Jeep, but right now, he had more important things to attend to.

~B~R~E~A~K~~T~H~E~~C~H~A~I~N~S~~T~H~A~T~~D~I~V~I~D~E~~D~I~N~O~~C~H~A~R~G~E~~R~E~D~O~

Callie quietly inched her way closer to where Fury and Duplicon where. She couldn't just stand there and do nothing while the enemy got closer to their goal.

As she reached a couple of construction workers, she motioned for them to stay quiet. They nodded as she grabbed their shovel. She got every closer, and their conversation got louder and more understandable.

Fury was angry, "We wait for all five of the Rangers to show, before we spring out trap."

"No. Poisandra has the E-Tracer, so Curio wants us to attack now," Duplicon calmly objected.

"Fine!" Wasn't Fury too old for a temper tantrum? "I'll just find and destroy the Red Ranger myself!" Callie noted that he had gotten angry when the monster mentioned the name 'Poisandra'. Was Fury jealous of her or something?

Just as Fury left in a dash of lightning, Callie snuck up behind Duplicon and whacked him across the head with her shovel.

The monster fell to the ground, holding his head in pain, but he found enough energy to order, "Red! Destroy her!"

The clone of Tyler (morphed, of course) immediately charged at her, and as Callie was dodging his strikes, she had to remind herself every ten seconds that this wasn't really Tyler. It was a clone.

Tyler was brave, kind, funny, and generous. This clone was none of those things.

After narrowly escaping a kick, Callie tightened her grip on the shovel she had borrowed and whacked the clone with it. She hit it three more times, before the clone fell to the ground, turning back into a Vivix as it did so, before fading away in a dark green haze.

"Impressive," Duplicon had fully recovered by this point, and Callie was shaking with adrenaline. "You managed to destroy a Ranger clone who is just as powerful as the real thing."

The Inner Monster had a point. How did she do that? She was just an ordinary human!

Duplicon continued, suddenly becoming angry, "But you must pay for your interference, human! Black, Pink, Blue, Green, attack and avenge your friend!"

Callie then started to panic. There was no way she could defend herself against all four of them, and Duplicon knew that. That's why he made said order.

Her shovel was quick to become useless as Pink kicked it out of her hands immediately, and all Callie could do was slowly back away in fear.

This was it. This was how she was going to die.

But then she heard Koda call out to her, "Cal! Duck!"

And she did, just as four multi-colored shots fired at the clones in front of her, sending them flying back.

But the clones were quick to recover, and Callie chose to stay on the ground. She crawled to and sat on the sidelines, where she noticed two things.

One: The real Rangers (sans Tyler, understandably) had arrived in time to save her, and where currently in a fight with their clones. A squad of Vivix had joined the fight as well.

And two: There were some very subtle differences between the Rangers and their clones.

For example, the real Rangers had no issues with using weapons, while the clones only attacked with their bare hands.

Callie watched the scene play out, as Shelby dodged a clone-Chase's swing, as Riley stopped himself from attacking clone-Shelby but the clone using this chance to land a kick on him.

Seeing them struggling, Callie then yelled out another thing she noticed, "The clones don't talk!"

Chase heard her and let out a small chuckle, "Huh, is that so?" He then tossed his Morpher into the air before catching it with his other hand and fired it at a Vivix near Shelby.

He then dodged a Vivix' attack, before firing at it as he knelt on his knees. He got up, sidestepping another Vivix, before knocking it and the rest of the Vivix out. He then twirled around, firing at all the clones.

The four fakes fell the ground, as the real Rangers breathed a sigh of relief.

"That was pretty cool, Chase," Shelby asked, as she offered Callie a hand, which the Irishgirl took, and helped her to her feet. "How'd you know who was who?"

"Because I slipped these into your belts," Chase pointed at his own, where a white flower rested, tucked in nice and snug.

"What?!" Shelby exclaimed, noticing the flower in her belt. "When did you do that?"

"Nice one," Riley said.

"You very clever, Chase," Koda complimented.

"Daisies," Callie noticed. All four real Rangers had them.

"They are your favorite, Callie," Chase said, before pointing at Callie's hair. "And just in case."

Callie reached up and found a daisy resting behind her ear. She had to agree with Shelby. When did Chase do that? But she smiled at him, before her smile faded, which alerted the others.

"Fury said he was going to find and destroy Tyler himself," she remembered.

Shelby turned to her, alarmed, "Then go find him, Callie, before Fury does."

Callie nodded and ran away from the area, and Koda placed hands on both Chase's and Shelby's shoulders, "Now we not hold back."

"Right!" Shelby ordered. "Let's finish these imposters."

"Dino Steel: Armor On!"

In a flash, the four had produced their personal weapons, and they each ran to a clone, as they were just starting to stand up.

As they spoke, the four hit the clones with their weapons, Shelby hitting clone-Chase, Riley hitting clone-Shelby, Koda hitting clone-Riley, and Chase hitting clone-Koda, "You can fake the look, but you can't fake the skills of real Rangers!"

The four then watched as the clones turned back into Vivix and disappeared in a dark green mist.

Poisandra placed the E-Tracer on the railing, "Now, work your magic, Wrench!"

"That may take a while," Wrench said. "This thing looks pretty complicated to use. And it's not like this thing came with an instruction manual."

"Hurry up and figure it out! The Rangers could find us at any minute!"

"Please don't rush me!"

As Tyler drove into the city, he called Kendall over the Dino Comm, which was connected through his helmet while morphed.

"Tyler?" Kendall asked. "We've been looking everywhere for you! Are you alright?"

"Long story, but I'm fine," Tyler swallowed the lump in his throat. "Listen, Poisandra stole the E-Tracer. They fooled me."

"With clone Rangers," Kendall interrupted, "We know. The others are engaging them and the monster now. I'm sending you the coordinates."

Tyler looked into the top right display of his helmet, where the coordinates Kendall just sent him were. "Got it. Tell them I'm almost there."

Just as he hung up, he suddenly came under attack with gold-colored lightning.

"What's going on?" Tyler asked himself. Who was attacking him?

He managed to dodge all the lightning strikes with his Dino Cycle, but eventually the attacks forced him off, and he hit the ground, de-morphing on the way.

He stood up just in time to see Fury coming charging at him from out of the smoke that he had caused.

"Look what the cat caught!" Fury exclaimed with glee.

"You haven't caught me yet!" Tyler shot back, before dodging Fury's first sword strike.

Fury got increasingly angry as Tyler kept dodging his attacks. "Hold still!"

Eventually, Fury managed to block Tyler's punch before pushing the young adult back. This caused Tyler's bracelet to be ripped off and it fell to the ground.

Fury immediately noticed it and picked it up, "What is this?"

"Give that back!" Tyler's yell here was automatic and instinctive. That was his dad's bracelet.

"Hmm, interesting," Fury commented. "The fact that I currently have it makes you angry. That must mean that it belongs to someone close to you." Tyler found himself growling, as he stood up. Fury let out a little laugh, "This brings back memories. I knocked this very same bracelet off the exact same way as I just did. At the time, I thought nothing of it, but now...that must mean that you're his son."

This alarmed Tyler, "Then you did know my dad!"

Fury scoffed as he threw the bracelet to the side, "I should have known you two were related based on your pathetic fighting skills. You're as weak as he was."

That did not slipt past Tyler at all, not even Fury's choice of words.

Fury was caught off-guard by Tyler suddenly kicking him in the chest, knocking him back into a nearby car and Fury's sword out of his hand.

Tyler was mightily pissed off, Fury noted here, as he demanded, "Did you say my father was weak?!" Tyler angrily kicked Fury's sword farther away. "What do you know about him?!"

"I'll never tell!" Fury defied.

"Not a good idea," Tyler growled back, and his tone actually made Fury rather nervous. "Because if I have to, I will beat it out of you!"

Tyler's mind filled with his mother sobbing in Rusty's arms after the man delivered the news, Sierra simply going to her room depressed and closing her door behind her, Rusty wordlessly giving Tyler his dad's bracelet that he found in the same place he last saw his friend.

All of their lives never being the same again...

All of their sorrow was caused by the monster in front of him now.

Tyler snarled before charging at Fury, not daring to hold back now.

"All my clones are gone!" Duplicon cried out in defeat.

The four Rangers threw away their daisies, as Chase quipped, "Nothing left but the originals."

"So I'll destroy them!" Duplicon said, before using his staff to blast them.

But Koda easily blocked the attack, "Stego Shield!" He then used it to break the blast apart.

Duplicon was about to say something, before Riley and Shelby both leapt in and struck him with their weapons, the Raptor Claw and the Tricera Drill both.

The monster stumbled back, and Riley and Shelby stepped aside to let Chase fire his Para Chopper at him. The hit landed dead on.

Duplicon fell to the ground, before calling out, "I need more clones!" Vivix appeared at this command, but they were all destroyed by Chase's Para Chopper.

"We have to destroy him now," Shelby said, "or he'll keep making clones!"

"We need the Dino Spike!" Riley suggested.

"We need Tyler!" Chase corrected him.

"No time for that!" Duplicon called as he charged at them.

With every slash Tyler landed on Fury with his Dino Saber, Tyler released a bit of his anger and sorrow that the loss of James Navarro had caused. Maybe there was a part of him that was doing this for himself, but Tyler wasn't the only one that had suffered.

His mother, Cheyenne, had become physically weaker as time went on, and she gained heart issues. According to the doctor, her heart was getting weaker because it was broken. Tyler himself became heartbroken because he didn't know how to fix this.

His sister, Sierra, had become less open to others, less of a social butterfly and more of a wallflower. She started keeping her emotions to herself, even from her older brother, who she always saw as her own personal hero. The fact that Sierra was hiding her feelings from him made Tyler feel like less of a hero over time.

The family friend, Rusty, had become filled with so much guilt, and he stopped coming over as often, afraid that the family had now hated him and blamed him for their loss. Tyler was afraid that this sad dynamic would never change, because it wasn't true.

Fury leapt over Tyler's next slash, landing on a nearby car, and Tyler leapt up after him. Fury may have dodged it, but Tyler made sure Fury could see the damage his attack had caused the innocent car.

He was angry, unbelievably so, and he needed Fury to pay for all the pain and sorrow and stress that he put the Navarro family through.

The force Tyler placed on the car forced Fury back onto the ground.

Callie arrived in time to see Fury trying to get up, only to find Tyler's Saber in his face.

"I'll ask you this one last time," Tyler growled, and Callie was quick to note his emotions.

It wasn't just anger. It was whole swarm of emotions that she doubted Tyler ever sat and sorted through, not even once. This wasn't healthy for him. She needed to stop this.

Tyler continued, "What did you do to my dad?!" When Fury said nothing, Tyler yelled, "Tell me!"

Fury said, "Your father..." right as Callie's empathy wouldn't let her stay silent.

"Tyler!" she called, and he and Fury both looked at her. "The others need yer help!"

Tyler then appeared to be coming back to reality, as he muttered in realization, "The monster..." just before Fury let out a laugh.

"Fool!"

Callie watched in fear as Fury swept Tyler off his feet, before kicking him into the car he destroyed moments before before he could hit the ground. Tyler lunged forward, but Fury's next strike forced him back.

"No!" Callie called and stepped in to take the hit for him. She didn't meant for that to happen. She just wanted to keep Tyler on track.

Tyler immediately noticed this, since she felt him wrap a hand around her forearm, trying to make sure she didn't take a hit she would likely never recover from. Meanwhile, Callie closed her eyes, waiting for Fury's sword to hit her.

But it never did.

Callie opened her eyes, and Tyler stood at her side, as they both watched a gold light suddenly emerge from Fury's chest.

It appeared to be severely weakening Fury, as the lion monster desperate tried (and failed) to fight it off.

"What is that thing?" Tyler softly asked.

Callie could only shake her head, as she noted that the light was coming from Fury's chest, where he had teeth-like armor and chains covering it.

Like a prison.

"No!" Fury yelled, aimlessly swinging his sword around. "I'm in control!" The two humans watched as Fury dropped his sword, stumbled back, before collapsing to the ground as the gold light disappeared.

It appeared that he had managed to suppress whatever that thing was inside him.

By this time, Tyler had recovered and he walked over to Fury, but he stopped when Callie grabbed his wrist before he could go further.

"Tyler, I know ye want answers about yer dad," Callie said, and Tyler didn't have to turn around to see the unshed tears in her eyes, "but right now, the team comes first. They need ye ta defeat the monster."

Tyler's fists balled up and tightened in frustration. Just as he had said in his journal this morning, Callie was right.

He said nothing as he let her lead him to where the others were fighting, choosing to turn around to look at Fury once last time before doing so.

City Plaza, Amber Beach, California

As they approached the City Plaza, Callie said, "They're right up there! Now, go!" She stopped by Tyler kept running.

"Unleash the Power! Dino Steel: Armor On!" Tyler morphed on the way, activated his Dino Steel and activating the Dino Spike Charger immediately, "Dino Charger, Ready! Weapons Combine!"

The five weapons lined up, from smallest to largest, and combined together thanks to the Dino Spike Charger.

Smiling, Chase, Shelby, Riley, and Koda created a launch pad with their arms, and launched Tyler, "Red Ranger: Launch!"

Now in the air, Tyler grabbed the Dino Spike and threw it at Duplicon. "Dino Spike: Final Strike!"

The Dino Spike struck Duplicon straight through before flying back to Tyler, who landed as he caught it.

As the monster was engulfed in an explosion, Tyler quipped, "Copy that!"

Once Duplicon was gone, Shelby immediately engulfed Tyler in a tight hug, "Tyler, you're okay! We were so worried about you!"

"I'm okay, Shelbs," Tyler's voice was soft as he returned her hug. "I'm not going anywhere."

"Perfect timing, mate," Chase told him.

"Don't worry," Tyler said, as Shelby's hug loosened. "No one splits us up. Now, first thing's first. We need to get the E-Tracer back."

"Right!"

But they were all caught off-guard by Duplicon suddenly growing giant in a flash of green.

Fury stumbled onto the scene and looked to his side as Curio stood there, holding up her watering can. "Nice job, Curio," he said, before fiercely slapping her on the back.

Curio nearly stumbled to the ground, not used to his strength.

"Vivix, rise!" Duplicon called out. Vivix ran past the Rangers and grouped up to form a Vivizord. The Vivizord stood in front of the monster, who said, "You want me, Rangers? You'll have to go through a giant Fury first!"

Down on the ground, "A clone of me?! Infuriating! I'm one of a kind!"

The giant clone of Fury stabbed his sword into the ground, which the Rangers scrambled to dodge, just as Rexy arrived on the field.

"Nice entrance, Rexy!" Tyler called. "Dino Charger, Ready! T-Rex Zord! Activate Dino Charge Megazord: TriStego Formation!"

As the Megazord was being formed, Callie used her Dino Comm to call Kendall, "Ms. Morgan, I found Tyler. He's okay and has been reunited with the others. They're currently fighting a giant Duplicon."

Kendall sighed, "Good, but I found the E-Tracer, and there are non-human biosigns surrounding it. It's unprotected and we need to get it back. Callie?"

"Yes?"

"I know I'm asking a lot," Kendall's voice held an incredible amount of reluctance, "but seeing as how the Rangers are preoccupied, I need you to retrieve it yourself." She immediately saw Callie's smile drop and demeanor turn reluctant herself. "Don't worry. I'll send the Rangers as your back-up as soon as they finish the fight with Duplicon."

Callie didn't know if she was up to the task. Yes, she defeated a clone of Tyler, but that was only one enemy, and it was a Vivix wearing a disguise. Plus, she had a shovel to help her.

But she had to try, if nothing else, "Don't worry, Ms. Morgan. I'll try my best." She then hung up and ran to the coordinates Kendall just sent her, wishing the Rangers 'good luck' as she did so.

Meanwhile, Duplicon held the Megazord in place with his staff, while the Fury clone struck at them from behind.

"They're attacking from both sides!" Tyler said, right before the Dino Comm went off once again. "Go ahead, Ms. Morgan!"

"Activate Dino Charger #17," Kendall calmly told them. "It will release the toxic gases of the dinos."

"Did she just say what I think she said?" Shelby asked. "And so calmly too?"

Riley was confused, "Toxic gases?"

"You mean," Koda realized, "fart gas?"

Kendall made a face, "You could call it that."

Chase tried not to laugh, "You think of everything, don't you?"

"I'm not proud of this one," Kendall admitted, "but you need to hurry. Callie will need your help getting the E-Tracer back."

"We're on it, Ms. Morgan," Tyler said, knowing Kendall was right about helping Callie, before pulling out a scarlet-colored Charger. "Dino Charger, Ready!" He then threw it at Rexy, who caught it in his mouth.

"Dino Gas Charger, Engage!"

From the Megazord's left shoulder sprayed out a disgusting methane gaze at Fury, before the Megazord turned and sprayed Duplicon with the same stuff.

"My eyes!" Duplicon cried. "It's stinging my eyes!"

Inside the cockpit, the Rangers could smell it even though the gas was on the outside and they were wearing helmets.

"That is one nasty move," Chase commented.

"Nasty, but effective," Tyler corrected.

"Smell very bad!" Koda was covering his nose (or where it would be if he wasn't wearing a helmet).

"Now, let's finish this!" Tyler said.

Koda pleaded, "Please finish faster!"

Shelby stepped up, holding one of the upgraded Ankylo Chargers, "We need the hammer of the Ankylo Zord to crush these fakes. Dino Charger, Ready! Summon Ankylo Zord!"

Ankylo came out of the ground, roaring, and Stego backed off, letting Ankylo take his place.

"Dino Charge Megazord: TriAnkylo Formation!"

"Ankylo Hammer!" the five called out, and Ankylo's tail hit the Fury clone hard on the head, turning it back into the Vivizord.

"Tricera Drill!" Shelby ran Tricera's tail through the Vivizord, destroying it.

They then turned their attention to Duplicon, "Ankylo Zord: Final Hammer Punch!"

The five Rangers twirled around and motioned upwards. The Megazord forced Duplicon into the sky, where he exploded safely.

"Monster Instinct!" Tyler announced.

"Don't celebrate yet," came Kendall's voice over the Comm. "Callie needs your help."

Melrose Circle, Amber Beach, California

"Hurry, Wrench!" Poisandra urged. "Duplicon's been defeated!"

Wrench pressed the final button, and the satellite on the device then rose into the air, letting out repetitive radio bursts. "It's working!" He, Poisandra, and Curio all began to celebrate. "It's honing in onto what looks like the Ptera Zord!"

"Yay!" Curio jumped up and down in excitement. "We did it! We won! Now, let's go get it!"

But suddenly the group was attacked by gold lightning. The force sent Wrench to the ground, and Poisandra stumbling back.

"Fury?!" Poisandra cried out, as Fury stepped out of the shadows, laughing maniacally.

"There it is!" Fury gleefully called out, obviously referring to the E-Tracer. "Like fruit for the picking!"

"Why are you attacking us?!" Curio asked. "We're all supposed to be working together!"

"Congratulations on finding the E-Tracer for me," Fury said.

"For you?" Wrench was quick to catch Fury's choice of words. "We all stole this E-Tracer by working as a team!"

"Too bad you couldn't keep your hands on it," Fury ignored Wrench, and turned around towards the E-Tracer.

But before Fury could pick it up, a familiar voice (to Fury) called out, "No one is taking that E-Tracer anywhere!"

Fury turned to see the same girl that had saved the Red Ranger earlier. He scoffed before producing his sword. He then waved it around, letting it charge up, before he swung it down, "Furious Roar!"

Callie was quick to catch a certain detail about his attack, but she was not quick enough to dodge it. The force gave her bruises and sent her over the balcony railing and onto the street below.

Fury scoffed, "Pest..." before turning back to the E-Tracer.

After picking it up, Poisandra yelled, "We will tell Sledge about this! You'll be thrown in Solitary for mutiny!"

But Fury wasn't scared, "I highly doubt Sledge will be angry when I show him this. With these coordinates, I can find the Ptera Zord. He will love me for this!"

On the screen flashed the mentioned coordinates, which read 'Latitude: 37.6 degrees North, Longitude: 119 degrees West'.

As Fury started walking away, Callie heard boots running towards her. Fortunately, she wasn't too injured, but it hurt just to try and sit up.

"Callie!" Tyler called, as he and Shelby both kneeled next to her. "You okay?"

"Don't worry about me," Callie managed to get out. "Fury's leaving with the E-Tracer."

Tyler immediately stood up to get a closer view on Fury, and sure enough, Callie was right. Fury was walking away with their E-Tracer in hand.

"We can't let him take it!" Riley said.

Tyler's hands clenched into fists. This was all his fault. If only he wasn't fooled by those clone Rangers. Now there was only one way to ensure that Sledge didn't get his hands on it.

He turned to Chase, "Chase, you're the only one capable of hitting it from this distance."

"Got it," Chase said, already knowing what Tyler was going to say.

They needed to destroy the E-Tracer.

As Chase formed his Dino Blade Blaster, in Power Blade Mode, Tyler turned to Callie, who had finally gotten to her feet thanks to Shelby, "Cal, it's time to tell us where that weak spot is."

Callie nodded as Shelby immediately objected, "But our E-Tracer!"

"Sorry, Shelby," Tyler placed a hand on her shoulder, comforting her, "but we all know that if Sledge gets his hands on it, it's bad news."

Shelby sighed, knowing he was right, "Yeah..."

After a short beat of silence, Callie told the Black Ranger, "Blue button on the side, Chase."

Chase charged up and aimed his Dino Blade Blaster right at the spot she mentioned, where (sure enough) there was a blue button that was meant for turning on the machine, and it was fortunately on the side that was showing.

He couldn't afford to miss this shot. The others were counting on him, and he refused to let them down.

After what felt like forever, Chase pulled the trigger, and the others watched as the blast hit the E-Tracer dead on. Hitting a weak spot caused a chain reaction that engulfed it and Fury in the big explosion that resulted.

Fury didn't fall, but the now destroyed E-Tracer was on the ground, now useless and unrepairable. He looked at his hands where the machine just was, unable to believe what had just happened.

Chase lowered his Blaster, and Tyler calmly said, "Nice job, hotshot."

Meanwhile, Callie placed a comforting hand on Shelby's shoulder. Shelby responded by placing a hand over hers, accepting the younger's offer of comfort.

But then Fury started laughing, "Wait! Yes!" And Callie and the Rangers were immediately on edge as Fury leaned down next to the E-Tracer. He then walked over to the railing and faced down the Rangers. "You didn't destroy it all, Rangers." He held up their Ptera Charger. "With this and the coordinates I've memorized, I can control the Ptera Zord now!"

"What?"

"No!"

Fury laughed as he walked away, leaving behind the Rangers and his own teammates in the dust.

Dino Base, Amber Beach Dinosaur Museum, Amber Beach, California

Kendall watched as the Rangers entered the base through the slide, one by one. Shelby was first and she placed the destroyed E-Tracer on the table in front of Kendall.

As Chase rushed forward to grab the first aid kit, Shelby nervously relayed to Kendall what had happened not fifteen minutes, "The E-Tracer may have given Fury the Ptera Charger and the location of the Ptera Zord before Chase destroyed it."

Kendall noted Koda catching an injured Callie before she hit the ground at the bottom of the slide before calmly telling Shelby, "That Charger's useless to him. He won't be able to power it without the Energem, not to mention it's a weak Charger anyways. Even if he is able to control the Ptera Zord, it won't be for long."

Shelby smiled as Koda helped Callie sit down before letting Chase patch up her injuries.

Kendall had to ask, "You alright, Callie? Those bruises look painful."

Callie sent her a smile, "I'm fine. I can still walk, so it's not that bad."

Keeper stepped up, "I commend you for your tremendous bravery today, Callie. You stood up to enemies much stronger than you in order to do the right thing."

Callie hung her head out of embarrassment at all the praise, "It was nothing special. I saw an injustice and I had ta stop it."

"Whatever it was, Cal," Riley told her, "you did great today." Callie shot him a smile, which he returned in kind.

Now that all the adrenaline was out of his system, Tyler could ponder over how they ended up in this mess. With guilt filling his voice, he solemnly said to them all, "I'm sorry, guys, for everything. I should have known those Rangers were fakes. If I hadn't trusted them, we wouldn't be in this situation."

"The E-Tracer was destroyed, yes," Keeper comforted him, "but you all protected the other Energems by working together." He wanted them to take pride in their teamwork.

"He's right," Callie spoke up. "Teamwork is our greatest weapon, because Sledge, Fury, Poisandra...they're all divided." She thought back to their argument earlier. "I don't know why, but they were fighting over who got the credit of stealing the E-Tracer."

"That's why we'll win," Shelby agreed. "Eventually, their in-fighting will be the death of them." She then glanced over at Tyler's wrist and immediately noticed that something was missing. "Tyler...your bracelet's gone."

Tyler was mildly startled that someone had noticed. He would've been content if no one had noticed, if he was allowed to suffer in silence. He sadly smiled at the fact that Shelby had noticed.

"Don't worry about it," he tried to put on a brave face. "It's fine."

"Is it?" Shelby asked, knowingly, and Tyler's facade crumbled. After he remained silent, she spoke up again, "You know, I can go search for it tomorrow if you want me to."

"I'll do it," Callie volunteered. "Ye lads need ta focus on Fury and the Ptera Zord."

"You sure, Cal?" Tyler asked her.

"Leave it ta me," she sent him a smile. "We are a team, after all. Aren't we?" He returned it with a smile of his own.

"Thank you," he said, to Shelby and Callie. "Both of you."

Callie was the one who brought him back to reality from his rage, and Shelby was the one who comforted him after the fact.

Shelby shot him a smile, before Callie remembered Fury's attack, "I'm not sure if this will help ye in the future, but I noticed something about Fury's attack."

"Oh?" Tyler asked.

"Yeah," Callie explained, as she thought back to that moment. "There's a split second when his blade reflects the sunlight. It's quick, but I think if ye can see that, then it might be easier ta dodge the attack the next time ye fight him."

Chase gently bonked Callie on the head, "You think of everything, don't you?"

"What?" She asked, innocently, before shrugging, "Secrets are impossible ta hide from me, y'know."

The two shared a smile, before Tyler broke it, "Another thing about Fury. Callie saw it too, but while I was fighting Fury today, we both saw him freeze up, as if he lost control. I swear, it looked like something was trying to break free."

"Or *someone*," Callie quietly added.

After a beat of uncomfortable silence, as they all thought about that, Koda spoke up, naively optimistic as always, "Whatever it is, we deal with it together." He held out his fist.

"Together," Tyler agreed with a smile, before bumping his fist with Koda's.

The other three Rangers and three allies were quick to join in.

And Tyler knew that they all were right. No matter what came next, as long as he had his team beside him, he could survive anything.

Original PRDC Episode: Double Ranger, Double Danger

Note: Inner Monster Irony in this Chapter: Mr. Campbell dislikes copycats and art thieves, while Duplicon's whole shtick is making clones.

I dove into depth Tyler's whole thought process while fighting Fury, and there are some insights there with his family, because to be honest, in the canon series, there wasn't a lot of that. They only focused on Tyler's feelings about his dad's disappearance.

The thing about Fury's attack is taken from Kyoryuger.

Also, concerning the plot with Callie: Bear with me. I know where I'm going with it. You'll see in the next chapter.

Hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please review and tell me what you think!

Season 1, Episode 8: "Ultimatum"

"Fury recruits an Inner Monster to capture the Rangers in order to buy time to find the Ptera Zord before the Rangers do. But the Ptera Zord is not the only thing he has his eyes on."
