A one-shot

Rosette sighed as she looked out her window. The rain was falling hard outside. Rosette was a little down because her and Chrno were supposed to have a picnic in the garden that day, to treat them after a long week of devil slaying.
She tapped her foot hard as she rocked her chair back and forth. She had spent most of the night making the picnic lunch, for her and Chrno. She had made so much food for both of them. Now it was going to go to waste. She laid her head on the desk and sighed once again.
A small knock came from the other side of her door. She mumbled, "Come in." She heard her doorknob turn and open the door. It squeaked as it always had. It was loud and clear for her ears to hear. She heard someone step inside and stand behind her.
"Rosette?"
"Hi Chrno," she replied. She knew it was Chrno before she even heard him speak. He liked to check up on her. Especially when he knew she was down.
"Your sad because of the picnic right?" he asked.
Rosette didn't reply to his question. It wasn't about the picnic, it was about hanging out with Chrno as a friend, not a devil slaying partner. Something they never got to do, not with so many devils around.
"Come on Rosette, turn around," he replied. She heard him moving about behind her. She lifted her head from the desk and turned to look at Chrno.
She stared almost in disbelief. Chrno had taken a picnic blanket and had spread it out on the floor. The picnic basket she had spent so much preparing was sitting on top of the blanket. She stood from her chair, still staring at him.
"…Chrno…"
"I knew you were looking forward to this," he replied. "So I thought, hey, we can still have a picnic, just not outside."
He sat down on the blanket and opened the basket. He took out a bottle filled with lemonade and poured some into a cup. He then poured another cup of lemonade.
"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade," he smiled, as he gave her the cup. She sat down still a little surprised by him doing this for her. She took the up and had a little drink.
He took the sandwiches out and put them on the paper plates that Rosette had packed. He gave her a plate before he got his own sandwich.
"Chrno you didn't have to do this."
"No," he said. "But I wanted to."
She watched him take a bite out of his sandwich. She smiled to herself. She would remember this for a long time to come. She would have to remember this. She now owed him. She sent him a smile before she took a bite out of her own sandwich.

A/N: This was my first Chrno Crusade fanfic. I have heard a lot of the series and have only watched the four episodes. So, with that said…how did I do? Were the characters okay? Or did I totally screw them up?
