Flash Fiction Friday Challenge prompt 129: Under The Moonlight. A double drabble at 200 words.
Under the moonlight was the time he first saw her.
She danced.
Oblivious to the watcher in the shadows.
Oblivious to all except the silent music and the drawing of shapes in the golden sand her feet made as she spun and twirled and leapt.
He was completely mesmerised.
The sarong she'd loosely tied around her waist floated to the ground, the gossamer material shining gold and green in the moonlight.
And still she danced, swimsuit clad body swaying to the beat only she heard. The sound of the waves gently breaking only added to the magic.
The ending was abrupt.
She leapt into the air and planted two feet firmly into the sand, arms held up in supplication to the moon. Her face was lit and as she turned he caught sight of a smile in the silver light.
Her arms lowered slowly, and she bent to pick up the sarong, trailing it behind her as she returned to the villa, and he stepped further into the shade as she passed by.
He stayed.
He felt…different.
Moved. Touched deep down in his soul.
He'd known her for years.
But under the moonlight was the first time he saw her.
