Obito was late for the team meeting again. The image of a nagging Kakashi about laws and rules popped in his head, made him grimaced. It's not his fault, alright. Nana-baasan needed help with groceries! The elder woman's health has been really bad as of late. She had no children so no-one helped her. It was a pretty damn good reason to help her despite such minial task.
Rushing to his team ahead, he could see a very furious Kakashi glaring at him.
"You're late again. What's your excuses this time!"
"Nana-baasan needed help so I help her. Isn't it Konoha's shinobi duty to help Konoha's citizen?" He barely had any energy to explain any further details, the bastard wouldn't listen anyway, he just rushed here, damnit!
"There would be plenty other shinobi to assist, you were not assigned to help her. Why did you do such unnecessary things? You are a genin now, think more about your actions!" Yup, he wouldn't even bother a second to consider his explanation.
"BECAUSE NO-ONE HELPED HER!"
Before the the masked jounin could reply. His Jounin sensei interupted, despite his usual cheery self, he seemed a bit agitated.
"Now don't fight we are teammates."
"If only he had been more serious our team would have been given more important missions."
Obito rolled his eyes. The bastard really did have a stick up his ass.
"Sensei, what's wrong. You seem to be worried about something."
Startled. His sensei sent him and an eyed-smile
"Nothing, it's just that today my little sister will have a ranking test. I know she will be okay. I'm just a little worried about her."
Ah. So it was about Minato-sensei's mysterious little sister. A month ago, the girl was found by the Toad Sage, Jiraiya-sama, near the border of the Lightning Land. Since said girl's appearance was so eerily resembling his student, he had taken the girl to Konoha. After a DNA test, it was concluded that she was Minato-sensei's little sister or half sister. He remembered his teacher had been really cheerful that week. He had told them ton of stories about his sister, even though they had yet to have the opportunity to meet her. But Obito honestly felt happy for the man. Minato-sensei was a war orphanage, It must have been a very blissful moment when he found out that he had a living relative. Ever since then, the little sister, Naruto, had been living with Minato-sensei and his soulmate, Kushina-neesan.
Talking about soulmates…..Obito sighed melancholically.
Soulmates are very sacred bonds that everyone has since birth. Apparently, when ones meet their soulmates, the firsts words they say to each other would be imprinted on their skin, as proof for their souls being connected. They said that soulmates would be the one to accept you unconditionally no matter who you are. There were even a saying that even the world turns their back on you, your soulmate would always be by your side.
It's kind of cheesy, he know. But Obito has always looking forward to meeting his soulmate. But… will they accept him? He is the black sheep of the Uchiha. Other people look down on him while his own clan treats him like dirt and would consider him an outsider, it was just because his father was not an Uchiha. His mother had eloped with his father and gave birth to him. But since his mother broke "the clan's laws", she was imprisoned during her pregnancy. Soon after he was born, his mother passed away due to lack of nutrition. The clan had abandoned his mother. His father followed her not long after because of grief.
Obito doesn't feel an ounce of shame for his mother actions. His parents were soulmates. They married out of love. But his clan didn't agree with that. In fact, soulmates are not very welcomed inside clans with strict rules about bloodline like the Uchiha or the Hyuuga. It would be okay if the couples was in the same clan, but if the soulmates were not… the clan head would simply try to find a spouse for his clansmen to wed or force the other party out of the village through the clan's influence. He knew that some of his clansmen were kind of disgruntled with those restrictions but no one voice objections. So the rules still remain. Maybe it was a good thing the Uchiha didn't consider him a clan member, he won't have any problems being together with his soulmate.
He just hopes that his soulmate would accept him like they said. At first he thought that Rin would be his soulmate, she was the first person to show him kindness. He was kind of disappointed since nothing happened after their first encounter. But he still considers her a very dear friend and teammate. Despite said teammate clearly being more interested in Kakashi than him and sometimes he kind of felt that the girl only hanged out with him out of pity. Nonetheless, he still cherished their bonds. He hopes that she would get along with his soulmate. Well, he hopes that his team would get along with his soulmate, Kakashi included. Despite many ups and downs, they are his precious people.
"..to? OBITO!"
"Huh, what?" Startled from his thought, he looked around to see his team looked at him expectantly.
"Not only you were late, now you are daydreaming during the team meeting? How much more tardy can you get?" Stated the white hair teammate with hint of annoyance.
Before another quarrel happen, his teacher repeated.
"Since today is my little sister has her ranking match. Do you guys want to do some warms up and quick spars then go to watch the match with me?"
"Wow, really, let's do this. Finally we can get to see your little sister." Obito exclaimed excitedly.
Kakashi rolled his eyes while Rin just shook her head and Minato-sensei…kind of glared at him with a dark look while gave him a warning smile.
"Since she is my little sister. I expect you guy to be on your best behaviors while not getting ANY funny ideas, especially you boys."
Ouch! He didn't picture Minato-sensei to be the overprotective type. True, the man is a very fearsome shinobi among the shinobi world. But It was the first time Obito experienced such menacing aura from his teacher.
Obito just chuckled nervously while Kakashi deadpanned at his mentor.
"Sensei, please, I'm very disciplined person, unlike Obito. In fact, you should watch him closely so he won't cause us any trouble."
"HEY, that's rude, you bastard! Unlike you, I'm much more mindful to other people than YOU."
"STOP! Now, let's warm up first and then take turn to spar. First Kakashi and Obito, then Obito and Rin, finally Kakashi and Rin" Having enough of their antics, Minato-sensei cut us off and begin our training sessions.
Both boys glared at each other intensely before starting their warm-up
Naruto was very annoyed. The pervert sage had disappeared, left her alone to go to one of his "research", while her match was about to happen at any minute now. He could at least be presented to support her emotionally! She had passed the writing test with flying colors, mind her, back when she mastered fuuinjutsu she had to learn other academic subjects for knowledge so those test were nothing to her. Now she only had to spar with a Jounin to complete the ranking test.
It's been a month since she came to this dimension. As far as she researched the history here matched with her dimension's. Jiraiya had gone to the Amekugare and luckily rescued the Ame trio on time. Good, Akatsuki wouldn't turn into an outlaw organization. A month ago, right after she revealed the future to Jiraya, they had found Uchiha Madara's secret hideout and took out both Black Zetsu and him. Uchiha Obito won't be brainwashed by that old geezer anymore, although she had only known the real self of Uchiha Obito only for a short while, but she could tell they were really similar to each other. They had the same dream, his personalities in the past through Kakashi-sensei's stories really resembled hers. And as far as she known, he used to have such a bright and honorable attitude, unlike most of Uchiha clansmen. This time around, she truly hoped the guy would find his happiness.
By far, she and Jiraiya had cleared most of the major red flags that would lead to a disastrous future. She couldn't believe they have gone this far. She could really see a better future in this dimension than her own. The next problem she must work on should be Shimura Danzo and Orochimaru.
She had met the Snake Sannin a few times and as she observed, despite his gloomy aura, she could see that the man was still a good guy, he still hold Konoha dearly. According to Jiraya's information, Orochimaru had begun to commence an experimental project to enhance young shinobi physical abilities and Danzo had offered to support him.
Great, so everything was because of Danzo. Naruto had mixed feelings for the man. While he had a formidable goal and wanted nothing but the best for Konoha, his perspective to operate the whole process was totally wrong. He wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice thousands of life, he considered shinobi emotions were useless and unnecessary and his obsession for the Hokage seat was just sad! Naruto honestly didn't know how to handle the man. Could she still save him? Or should she just eliminate him?
She had also revealed her identity to the Sandaime Hokage. The elder Hokage held some suspicions at first, but after she showed him the seal and let him converse with Kurama, the elder had no choice but believe her. When she told him about Danzo, the old man fell into an uncomfortable silence.
"I knew Danzo had obsessed with my seat for a while now and his methods to deal with things sometimes very extreme. But he only wishes the best for our village, so I had turned blind eyes most of the time. Maybe because of this foolish thought of mine had lead to many regretful events like the Uchiha massacre. But Naruto, please, can you give him some times and maybe help him realize his mistakes? He was my teammate, and just like you. I would prefer to hope that he would be able to change."
The old Hokage had agreed to keep Danzo under strict surveillance. It's the best option for now. She will keep close tabs on the man. If he crossed the line, she will take actions.
Snap out of her thoughts, she could feel her father, no, her brother's chakra approaching with three others. She is Namikaze Naruto, Namikaze Minato's little sister, he was not her father. Adjusting her posture, she turned to greet them with the best smile she had.
"Nii-san, you come to cheer me up? You have finished your training sessions already?"
"Yeah, how can I miss my sister's match. How are you holding up, Imouto?." Agh, that dazzling Ikemen smile of her brother really blind her sometimes.
"I'm fine, I guess. Now you're here, I feel more confident." She could feel her brother's eyes smile a bit "So this is you genin team? Nice to meet you I'm Namikaze Naruto, his little sister. Please help me more in the future."
"The one with the mask is Hatake Kakashi, he is actually a Jounin. The other guy is Uchiha Obito and the only girl member of the group is Nohara Rin. Both Obito and Rin are Chuunin." Nii-san introduced his team as he chuckled.
Wow Kakashi-sensei looked…so small. She heard the stories before but man he really looks like a stick in the mud at this time. Rin looks similar to Sakura though the girl seems to be more docile than her old teammate. And then there's Uchiha Obito, the boy looks just as bright as she imagined, he has no trace of the Uchiha usual attitude, which is a good thing, and he wears orange goggles, anyone who wears orange is good people in her book.
Grinning as she gave the Uchiha boy a bright smile
"Hi, I like your orange goggles."
The Uchiha boy's posture suddenly tensed then widen his eyes as he looked at his left hand. She could feel her brother began emitting dark aura when he looked at the boy's hand, like he wanted to burn holes in the poor guy's hand while the other two teammates just looked at her nonplussed, feeling stuck at what to say.
Huh, what's wrong.
Before either of them could say anything. He heard the proctor calling her name.
"Namikaze Naruto-san, please be on stage to begin the match."
"That's my cue then, wish me luck guys."
Before she could leave. She felt a hand hold her back.
"Hey, wait.." It was Uchiha Obito. The boy suddenly silence himself after he look down at something. Her left hand strangely felt tingling. Weird.
"Now Obito, Naruto has to leave for her match. We can all talk about what happened after you and I have some private talks first, alright." Her brother intervened with a threatening smile sending to the dark hair boy.
"Huh, what's wrong." It was honestly confusing.
Obito gaped at her while her brother just gave her a reassuring smile
"Don't worry, it's just some private talks between men, right Obito?" She swore she could really hear the boy gulped – "Now do your best on your match ok."
"Don't worry, nii-san, I will beat whoever my opponent is."
With that she take off. Unaware of the chaotic and pressured atmosphere she left behind.
