Chapter 1
A bright ball of light and sudden explosion of magic was recorded at 2.00am in the village of Hogsmede. It went unnoticed by all in the wizarding community but in another dimension, in a large office tower, a small group of people held their collective breath.
It was Hogsmede weekend and the students of Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry were up early to take advantage of as much time away from the castle as possible.
There was so much noise in the great hall during breakfast, that Professor McGonagall was wearing earplugs and Professor Snape had retired to his quarters to eat.
Finally Professor Dumbledore stood at the front of the teachers table and cleared his throat. "As you are all aware today is the first Hogsmede weekend this year. I trust that all students will behave in a manner befitting Hogwarts students whilst not forgetting the most important rule………Have Fun"
There was laughter from most students in the great hall even some of the Slytherins.
At the Gryffindor table Ron Weasley was woofing down his breakfast as usual while trying to have a conversation with Harry about Quiddich.
"The Chudley Cannons are sure to have a great season" Ron mumbles around a piece of toast.
"RONALD WEASLEY" shouted Hermoine, "I'm sure your mother taught you better manners than to talk with your mouth full of food."
"Sorry Moine" a sheepish Ron replied, "I was in a hurry, today is Hogsmede weekend you know."
"Really Ronald I would never have known." Hermoine answered sarcastically. Ron though, was his usual oblivious self and it went sailing over his head.
Harry was unusually quiet this morning, he had been woken during the early hours by a nightmare. Harry was used to nightmares but something about this one was different. There had been an explosion of power and a bright light. The thing Harry didn't understand though was why he had woken up smiling.
