Sup guys? Lighting Wolf here, back with another story, this one about Pokémon. Enjoy the 800-word chapter. I don't own Pokémon, Nintendo and a few others.

People often wondered what Professor Philena Ivy did around the confines of Valencia Island. It wasn't like there was massive amounts of work to do around said site considering its location and small roster of Pokémon.

"Hmm… They should be here soon." Ivy said, curious as to what was keeping them.

As with all professors? They still had staff alongside them that helped with their work. One could not simply study and document their work and the island around them easily. It simply was NOT possible for one to do it in their entire life. That laid into the reason WHY Professor Ivy had hired a small staff who would work under her and help make sure everything was up to par.

Professor Ivy stood atop her Gyarados which looked out over the water. The ship carrying her staff was to come by sea, Ivy wished to properly greet them and welcome them to the island before they settled in. She had placed all work behind her as the majority of it had already been completed for the duration of the day.

"Hmm…" Ivy hummed to herself, crossing her legs under her.

She could only ponder what was keeping her company. It wasn't like there was bad weather, Ivy had checked with the head of the new staff to make sure that there were no issues. It wasn't polite to keep your boss waiting when you thought about it.

"Oh!" Ivy said as the Gyarados slowly turned its head towards a small vessel which slowly began to move towards the island.

The Pokémon swiftly moved to intercept it, moving like a giant serpent through the water as if it was butter. Ivy looked at the ship and could tell as she looked upon it that the staff was bound for her lab on the island. The small white boat looked tiny compared to her Pokémon.

Still? She decided to head back to the lab after the Pokémon made a full circle around the ship and back towards her facility. Ivy planned on greeting her new staff at the shore when they arrived,

"This is going to be nice hopefully." Ivy said while cracking a smile as her Pokémon dropped her on the shore.

Ivy leapt off the Pokémon, landing on the shore in a crouch. She paused to retrieve her lab coat which she had hung on a tree. Her Pokémon bent down towards her as she reached up to scratch at the creature's head with amusement. It was very fun that the Pokémon loved her so much yet it was so viscous when people seemed to think about when someone thought about it.

"There should be more time in the day to study Pokémon… Then again?" Ivy mused to herself as she slowly started her walk towards the pier. "My work does wait until night. Most Pokémon I study don't come out until the sun sets and you can't document that many different Pokémon at daybreak considering their inactive." Ivy said while yawning to herself.

She smiled to herself, curious what her new arrivals would bring. Ivy knew some of them were not from the region. She didn't mind considering it would be nice to compare notes the more one thought about it? That meant they could compare research from all over the world, that would help her research if anything when someone focused on it.

"Gyra…" The Pokémon said to its owner as Ivy turned, pulling a Pokeball from the pocket of the coat and then turned it towards the Pokémon.

"Take a breather, Dozy, you did great." Ivy said, recalling the Pokémon into the object. "Now to greet the new arrivals." Ivy said, pausing to look around with interest.

The ship was still approaching which made the professor sigh and shake her head. She often questioned why the Pokémon were faster than human technology… Maybe that was something that she could research given the right amount of time on the subject.

Every footstep she took felt like an eternity, however. It would take several minutes for her to reach the docks, but that was fine with her. It gave her time to think and reflect upon what the future could hold for everything soon enough.

Phew. First chapter done! I want to point out this story will be slow to update but pick up soon enough. Next chapter will be in 2-10 months and will show Ivy greeting her staff along with introducing the main researcher and such. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
