I've had this story kicking around in my head since Supergirl ended. I know I have another story that needs to be finished but I'm stuck on it. I'm so sorry. I hope you like this. I felt it I didn't get it out, it would bug me. Please enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own Supergirl or any of its characters.

Ms. Grant, once again sitting on her throne at CatCo, is reminding people why she is and will always be the Queen of All Media. Answering emails, fielding phone calls, two pairs of glasses on her head, she feels right at home.

**Cat, reading yet another email from a former colleague sucking up to her for references, feels the presence of another person in the room with her. Looking up from her desk, she's met with the doe eyes of a little girl holding a stuffed zebra.**

Cat rolls her eyes in exaggeration.

"First they sent me a millennial to be my personal assistant and now they've sent me a preschooler."

"I don't work here." the little girl giggles.

"No? Oh good. I thought I was going to have to institute a nap time. Then is your friend here for the job?"

"No, Lovey doesn't work. She's a stuffy." the little girl says, giggling even more.

"Ah. So, do you have a name?"

"I'm Esme."

"Esme. That's a nice name. Do you know who I am?"

She nods.

"You're Miss Cat."

Cat blinks at the little girl.

"Miss Cat?" Cat says a little too sternly.

"Is that wrong? I'm sorry. My aunt told me that was your name." Esme pouts, squeezing Lovey close to her little body.

Realizing she was too harsh, Cat dials it back some.

"No, no, you're not wrong. That is my name. Who is your aunt…like I need to ask?" Cat mumbles the last part under her breath.

Before she finishes asking, Esme is right beside her and hands her a letter.

"Aunt Kara told me to give this to you."

"Ah."

Cat reads the note explaining how Kara was showing Esme around CatCo but got called away for Supergirl duties. Kara felt Cat would be the best choice to watch the little girl while she was away.

"I see. So, it seems I'm to watch you while you aunt is galavanting around National City."

Esme smiles bigger than Cat thought was humanly possible.

"My aunt is Supergirl!"

Cat can't help but to smile as well.

"Yes, she is."

"Isn't that neat? I think it's neat."

Cat laughs.

"Super neat."

"Aunt Kara said that you like pictures. I can color you some pictures for your office if you'd like."

Cat feels her heart ready to burst from cuteness overload.

"I would love some pictures for my office, thank you. Here, you can set up here."

Cat walks Esme over to the table next to her balcony and gets her settled.

Esme squealed.

"Thank you, Miss Cat! I'll color lots of pictures for you!"

"You're welcome, Esme. Hey, are you allowed to have chocolate?"

Esme smiles and nods, wiggling her eyebrows.

"Do you like M&M's?

Again, Esme smiles big and nods.

"Okay."

Cat walks over to her bar and gets a glass full of the chocolate treats. Realizing she doesn't want to give them to the little girl a real glass, not that she thought Esme would get hurt, she got a napkin and proceeded to dump the M&M's onto it.

"Thank you so much!" Esme cheered.

"You are very welcome, darling. If you need anything, I'll be at my desk."

Esme nods as she colors.

Some time goes by and Ms. Grant realizes she's getting hungry and if she's getting hungry, Esme probably is, too.

She walks over to Esme where she's been working diligently on her drawings.

"Wow. Those look museum worthy."

Esme giggles.

"Thank you."

Cat nods.

"Hey, I'm getting little peckish, how bout you?"

Esme scrunched her face.

"What's peckish?"

Cat smiles.

"Peckish means a little hungry."

Esme nods then answers seriously.

"Then yes, I am peckish."

Cat holds back a laugh.

"Okay. I can order something for us to eat. What to do you like? Do you like burgers?"

Esme nods.

"Do you like pizza?"

Esme nods.

"Do you like chicken fingers?

Esme nods so hard, Cat thought she'd get whiplash.

"Chicken fingers it is. Do you like to dip them in anything?

She thinks for a second or two.

"I like the yellow stuff."

"The yellow stuff? Mustard?"

She shakes her head and shrugs.

"It's kinda sweet."

Cat thinks for a second.

"Honey mustard?"

"Yes! That's it! Thank you!"

Cat laughs.

"You're welcome. I'll place the order. It should be here in no time. While we're waiting, do you need anything?"

She pouts.

"Um, I kinda need to go potty."

Cat internally cringes but knows it's not a big deal.

"Alright, come with me, kiddo."

She leads Esme to her private bathroom.

"Do you need any help?"

She shakes her head.

A few minutes go by when she hears sounds of frustration and gently knocks on the door.

"Everything okay in there?

Esme huffs, "I can't reach the sink."

Cat chuckles to herself.

"May I come in to help?"

"Yes, please."

Cat opens the door to see the little girl standing there in defeat.

"May I pick you up?"

She nods.

"Okay. Here we go!"

Cat scoops her up so she can reach the sink.

"Thank you, Miss Cat. You're really strong!"

"Thanks to all the years of Pilates."

Esme giggles.

Re-entering her office, the food has arrived. Cat gets Esme all set up then sets herself up.

"How are those chicken fingers?"

Esme grins.

"They are delicious! Even Lovey thinks so!"

Cat smiles at her innocence.

"Well, I'm glad!"

"How's your salad with a burger on top, Miss Cat?"

"Delish!"

Both giggle.

After they finish and clean up, Kelly, one of Esme's mommies, comes running in.

"Mommy!" Esme exclaims as she runs into her arms.

Kelly squeezes the little girl.

"Oh, Esme! I'm so sorry I'm late! My meeting ran longer than expected. You must be starving!"

Cat clears her throat, recognizing the woman.

"I am not a monster, Ms. Olsen. I do know how to take care of children, including feeding them."

Esme laughs.

"Mommy, Miss Cat gave me M&M's then I had chicken fingers with honey mustard! They were really good!"

Cat grins.

"See, dessert before dinner. That's normal."

Kelly laughs and rolls her eyes.

"Totally normal. Hey, you ready to go?"

Esme yawns.

"I'll take that as a yes. Thank you, Ms. Grant, for watching her. Esme, what do you say?"

The little girl becomes bashful and hides behind Lovey.

"Thank you, Miss Cat, for watching me."

"You are both very welcome. It was my pleasure. I think the two of us even had fun."

Esme gives her all the pictures she colored, including one she drew of the two of them which Cat plans to frame.

"For you! I hope you like them."

"I absolutely do. Thank you."

Esme hugs Cat's legs as Cat pats her back.

"Mommy, can she watch me again?"

Kelly looks stunned.

"Um, we'll see, baby. We'll see."

Kelly gathers everything up, thanks Cat again, then walks Esme out.

Esme turns around and waves bye with Lovey. Cat waves back.

An hour later, Cat hears a thud on her balcony.

"Ms. Grant! I am soooooo sorry! I didn't think I would be this long! Where's Esme? Oh my goodness, did you give her away?"

Cat gawks at her.

"No, I didn't give her away? Who do you think I am?"

Kara blushes.

"Sorry. I know you wouldn't give her away."

Cat smirks.

"I did ask if she or her friend, Lovey, were my newest employees."

Kara stares at her.

"No way. What did she say?"

"No, and that Lovey was a stuffy so she couldn't work. I said that was good because I couldn't fathom instituting a nap time schedule."

Kara burst out laughing.

"Well they have siesta's in other countries. Wouldn't be unheard of."

Cat nods in agreement.

"Anyway, thank you for watching her on such short notice. Did she give you my note?"

"Yes, she did. And don't worry, Ms. Olsen picked her up about an hour ago."

"Okay. I told her you had her."

"And also, don't worry, she didn't leave hungry, either."

Kara blushed again.

"Chicken fingers with honey mustard?"

Cat blinks.

"Either she orders that all the time or you're psychic."

"Yes and no, I can still smell the remains lingering in the office."

Cat arches an eyebrow.

"Oh. That makes sense."

"Well, I'll get back to the work I was supposed to do today before I had to leave. Gonna be a late night. You heading out?"

"Not yet. I have some work to finish as well."

"Oh."

"If you want, you can bring your work in here. You don't have to." Cat says, nonchalantly.

Kara smiles.

"That would be nice. Just like old times!"

"Yes, just like old times. Shall I order some brain food?"

Kara's smile was the biggest ever because she knew that meant all the pot stickers she could eat.

"Well, if you want." Kara answers, trying not to sound too excited.

Cat arches an eyebrow again and smirks.

"Well, you know, I'm still kinda full from lunch. I don't need anything."

Kara's big smile turns into the saddest pout in the world.

"I'm kidding. I'll place our usual order. Stop pouting, geesh. You look like someone stole your ice cream cone."

Kara can't help but give Cat a hug.

"Thanks! I'll be right back with my stuff!"

Cat just shakes her head as she orders the food.

The next hour or so, they work in sync like no time has passed. Cat looks at Kara hard at work and smiles to herself.

"Gosh, I missed this."

Kara looks up.

"What?"

"What? I didn't say anything." Cat says trying to sound believable.

"Oh, okay." Kara smirks, knowing full well Cat knows she heard her.

As they continue working into the night, both women feel a sense of gratefulness to be back together again, working side by side.

"I wouldn't trade this for the world."
