Jasper: That vacation was wonderful

Bella: We really needed it.

Leah: About damn time! I was bored as fuck!

Seth: Seriously! It's time for a new chapter!

The Crimson Eyed Drifter: Distance between Hearts
Chapter Thirty

Canada – Castle Frost
Royal Cullen

The God of War…

After all this time…After hearing the stories about him…I finally get to gaze upon this godlike vampire and I'm whelmed.

Looking at him, I don't see anything special. Sure, his body is scarred up and admittedly, is very handsome in a rugged sense. Not as handsome as my Archie, but handsome.

But For him to be able to nearly humble my arrogant father, Veiss, before Edythe and Eleanor managed to turn the tide was very impressive to hear. But hopefully, he'll be able to hear us out when he awakens.

"Roy…You're making me jealous," Archie's voice said from behind me. I turned around in my comfy swivel chair and saw my mate looking at me with that adorable pout on his face and chuckled.

"You've been down here for hours staring at the God of War and I want to spend time with my mate," Archie whined softly.

"I'm sorry love," I replied. "I just…I just don't know if it's him…You know?"

"You worried they got the wrong person?" Archie asked curiously.

"Yeah…I mean, he doesn't look the type," I replied with a frown.

Archie tilted his head in that cute way I adore before he said "If you want, I can view his past and see if he is the truth God of War?"

I frowned.

I didn't mind him using his gift but every time he finished, he always wound up absorbing a bit of the personality of the person he scanned.

But I just had to know!

"If you don't mind Arch," I replied.

"Groovy," Archie replied before he marched up to the crystal coffin and opened it, causing our guest's body to slump forward but Archie caught him and carried to the table and laid him down on it. Archie then walked to the end of the table and placed each hand on the sides of our guest's head and said "Time to see…"

I watched as Archie closed his eyes before he opened his eyes to reveal that they were now glowing a bright white.

I waited for what felt like an hour before Archie blinked, his eyes returning to that crimson I adore, and said "Wow…He's definitely the guy…."

"Truly?!" I exclaimed.

Archie walked to me and sat beside me and replied softly "Yeah…He is truly a savage beast but it seems that it has dulled somewhat due to being with that other Cullen clan…"

"What is the matter?" I asked him, noticing his more downbeat mood.

"I know that one of Father's plans is to eradicate the Cullens but…They aren't bad at all from looking at his memories…"

I frowned.

"Well if he agrees to our plan, maybe it won't come to that," I replied.

"But do you think he will? I mean, seeing his memories, he's not the kind to take being kidnapped laying down…despite currently laying down," Archie said.

I snorted and placed a protective arm around my mate and said "I know but we just gotta have faith…"

"Tch, faith," Archie said with an unfamiliar dry tone. "As if I haven't heard that before…"

Before I could comment, Eleanor walked down the stairs with a bored look and said "Oi! Royal, Archie. We got a new mission."

"They're finally letting me out the lab?" I asked dryly.

"No…It's from Big bro and sis…" Eleanor replied.

"Oh, one of those…" Archie said.

"We got word that Jasper's Coven is landing today with that girl Victoria is obsessing about," Eleanor replied.

"Oh shit…And what do we do about that?" I asked.

"Bro and Sis wants us to stop Victoria from getting that girl…" Eleanor replied. "We need to move now if we want to get there when they land."

"So can anyone tell me about this Bella Swan?" I asked once we were on the highway to the airport.

"Don't look at me," Jessamine said with a frown. "I've heard about her but nothing full on. I do know that uncle Jasper wanted to stay far away from her though."

"Leah knows more about Bella than I would. I just know she was a friend of Jacob," Embry said. I let out a sigh and before Casey pulled out her phone curiously.

"What's up Case?" I asked as I looked at her.

"I got a picture of a girl," Casey replied as she held up her phone to me. It was of a fairly pale, brunette girl.

If I didn't have my eyes on Space Case, she would look cute. "Must be Bella," I concluded.

"She doesn't look half bad but can be easily lost in a crowd," Casey noted before she showed the picture to both Embry and Jessamine, who nodded before Case sighed. "This is all so crazy. I woke up yesterday morning in a normal life but now, Vampires and Werewolves exist…"

"It could be worse," I noted. "They could have not shown up and we would be both in worse straits."

"I can't believe I'm saying this but you're right Der," she replied with a small smile which caused me to look away, that familiar warmth appearing on my cheeks.

"Shut up baby, I know it," I replied with a grin before I frowned. "I just…Can't believe Jasper is M.I.A…He seemed so untouchable to me."

"Really?" Casey asked.

"You didn't see him that night. He was…Amazing," I admitted. "It must be fearsome to know these guys took him down."

"Sounds like you look up to him," Casey said.

I didn't respond but somehow, I knew that it was true. He saved my life and we seem to be alike in a lot of ways. It was too early to tell of course but I hope things worked out so we can be friends.

Ten minutes later, we were at the airport and it was then Jessamine said "I got a text from Peter. Both planes have landed. Gate 10 for the Cullens and Gate 15 for Bella."

"That makes it so much easier honestly," Casey replied. "Jessamine, why don't you and Embry meet the vampires while Derek and I meet up with Bella?"

Embry and Jessamine traded a smile before they both nodded in agreement. "Awesome. Once we have them, we'll meet up at the entrance of the airport" I said as I turned off the car. "Let's get to it then."

The four of us got out the car and walked into the airport before separating immediately. "Gate 15 should be on the second floor," Casey noted as she glanced at the picture on her phone. "I'll keep my eyes on the phone so I can point her out."

"Good idea," I replied.

"I don't think I should have come here…" I told Embry as my body continued to shake. From the moment we got into the airport, the overwhelming amount of scents hit my nose. All these people smelled so delicious…It was almost overwhelming.

Embry looked back at me and waited for me to catch up before he took my hand and said "Relax. Focus on me, Peppermint."

The overwhelming scents immediately died down as the scent of blueberries hit me. The burning in the back of my throat seemed so small now compared to moments before. "Peppermint?" I asked curiously.

"Yeah," Embry said as a blush appeared on his face. "The other night, you said I smelled like Blueberries…Well to me, you smell like Peppermint…"

I bet if I could, I would be blushing at the compliment. "I do like Peppermint flavored things," I said, albeit shyly. "Peppermint Hot chocolate, Peppermint milkshake, peppermint flavored chocolate…The works."

"Peppermint and Blueberries. What an odd combination," Embry said as the two of us began to walk again. "But it's a good one, I think…"

I leaned against him and let myself drown in his scent. It was funny. When we first met, he was horrible to smell but now, I don't think I could go on without this scent. I wonder why that was…

It was then I caught the scent of three vampires nearby. "I smell them," I told Embry.

"I did too. Let's go," Embry replied and we both raced through the airport, following the scent of the three vampires, his hand never letting go of mine.

Blueberries and Peppermint…Not a bad combination at all Embry…

We finally came into view of the three vampires but just as we entered their view, the honey-blonde vampire woman and the two male vampires marched up to us, with the female vampire beginning with "About time you two came."

"You know who we are?" Embry asked, a little uneasily.

"Peter called and gave us your descriptions," she replied. "Names Rosalie Hale. The big lug to my left is my husband, Emmett Hale-"

"Nice to meet you," Emmett said with a salute.

"-And the one on my right is my father, Carlisle Cullen," She continued.

I opened my mouth to respond when I caught the scents of three vampires rushing towards our direction. "We have trouble coming," I said.

"Shit…They're really so brazen to attack in the open like this?" Emmett said with a bloodthirsty smirk.

"I'm going to find Derek and Casey. They should have met up with Bella by now," Embry said.

"Bella?!" The three Vampires exclaimed in shock.

"Hurry Embry," I told him.

"I'm going with him," Rosalie said before she ran off after him.

He nodded and ran as fast as he could through the crowd. "In the meantime, we need to get out of here," I told Emmett and Carlisle before I raced off towards the exit, with both of them in tow.

Please be safe Embry…

"I still can't believe all of this is happening," Casey told me softly as we stepped onto the escalator. "I mean to know Vampires exist…It's amazing but terrifying."

"Amazing because they saved both of our lives…We owe them to them," I replied.

"You don't like owing Edwin a favor but you readily admit you owe Jasper and the others your life," Casey noted with that smug grin that I loved.

It was getting easier to say that word.

Love.

I used to do everything in my power to avoid it but now, as I looked at her, it was so easy to say it. "Casey…I know this isn't the right time but there's something I want to tell to you…" I said softly. She looked at me, her blue eyes seemingly glowing to me.

It's a damn shame my mouth decided to fail me now but I can't blame myself. I was always mesmerized by Space-Case's eyes. "Derek…I know," she replied softly.

I felt my heart stop.

"Y-You know?" Derek asked.

"I overheard your conversation with Peter…I'm touched that you would want to sacrifice your life to protect m-our family," Casey replied as she placed a hand on my forearm. "But you're an idiot as well…I-I couldn't bear losing you Der. You may be a pig and a jackass at times but you're my Derek and I don't ever want to lose you…"

"Casey I…" I started but she placed a finger over my lips.

"When this all dies down…Would you like to go on a date with me?" Casey asked, her eyes looking away nervously.

I couldn't stop myself from smiling as I nodded.

Casey's eyes shined in happiness as she lowered her finger from my lips and replied "I want to go somewhere nice…Just you and me…No Lizzie, no Edwin, no vampires…Just us…"

"I can make that happen," I replied.

I felt as if my heart was going to burst with excitement. I never thought this would happen in my life. I guess when Vampires and Werewolves come into play, anything is possible.

Just another thing I have to thank Jasper for.

We stepped off the escalator and with a deep breath, I took Casey's hand in mine, causing both of us to blush. "Let's go find Bella," I said, hopefully with a confident smile on my face. She nodded and held the phone out as we began to walk to the gate.

After twenty minutes, Casey pointed at a girl sitting at on a chair and muttered "That's her." I looked to where Casey pointed and then at the picture on Casey's phone then nodded in agreement.

We both walked over to the girl and said "You Bella Swan?"

The girl looked up and asked "And who's asking?"

"Derek Venturi," I replied. "And the cute girl next to me is Casey McDonald."

"Peter sent us," Casey added.

Bella's eyes shined in at the familiar name and stood up in her chair and asked "How do you know Peter?"

"It's a long story but we don't have time currently," I replied. "We gotta hurry back to the car. Embry and Jessamine should have met with…What where their names Case?"

"Carlisle, Rosalie and Emmett," Casey replied easily.

"This isn't a trap is it?" Bella asked.

"It's good to be distrustful of two of Canada's hottest couple," I replied with a grin, knowing Casey's face was about to change into a cherry color.

I looked to her and my grin widened when a deep blush appeared on her face. "We're not a couple yet Venturi."

"Yet," I responded cheekily before I turned to Bella and said "But trust us…Jasper is in danger and Peter said you were going to be a huge help to us."

"Jasper?!" Bella exclaimed. "What happened to him?!"

"He was taken last night by some enemies," I explained. "We're still new to this whole thing but Peter said it was imperative that we get you. We'll explain it later but we need to move."

"Alright but I'm not afraid to fight you two if you're lying," Bella responded.

"Don't worry, I think we'd have to worry about Peter and Charlotte if anything happened to you on our watch," Casey replied wryly.

It was then we heard a scream come from somewhere on our left and when I looked, I saw a face that I never wanted to see again.

Victoria.

"We need to go!" I said as I grabbed both Casey and Bella's arms and pulled them alone. We ran down the escalator, shoving people to the side without any apologizes and once we got to the ground, we ran through the crowd, the alarmed screams of the people behind us.

Without warning, Victoria leapt up over the group of people and landed in front of us, causing Casey, Bella and I to skid to a stop in alarm. "Victoria…" I hissed out angrily.

"Derek…Casey…So good to see you two again…And you both bought me the greatest gift of all…Bella Swan…" She said, her voice soothing but I could see the anger in her eyes.

I slowly got in front of the two girls and said "If you want them, you'll have to go through me."

"Derek!" Casey exclaimed in alarm.

"That could arranged easily," Victoria hissed out before she ran towards us. I pushed Casey and Bella away just as Victoria's body crashed into mine. I went skidding against the ground, pain blossoming against my sides and back before she landed on top of me, a smirk on her face.

"Looks like I got to you after all!" She hissed before she sunk her teeth into my neck.

Seth: That's a horrible ass cliffhanger!

Derek: I just got bitten…

Embry: Oh this is bad. This is so bad!
