Chapter Thirty - One

Guilt.

That was the immediate thing I felt when I saw Victoria on top of Derek. This guy was my age and yet he didn't hesitate in pushing me and Casey away.

I could hear the screams of alarm coming from the civilians as she hunched over him but as she lifted him up off the ground, her mouth attached to his neck, her eyes remained locked on my eyes.

He was being attacked because of me…And I couldn't do anything about it.

"Derek!" Casey screamed.

"Run!" Derek screamed out of pure terror and pain as he tried to pry Victoria's mouth off his neck but she only bit down harder. A few seconds later, Victoria pulled her mouth away from his neck, leaving Derek writhing on the floor in agony, and hissed at me.

With her mouth dripping with venom, Victoria smirked and lunged towards me with both with death in her eyes. Without warning, a small vampire that I had never seen before shot out and landed a solid knee to her face, sending her through the window beside her.

The short vampire looked to me and said "Thank goodness I made in time. Hi Bella! Names Archie Cullen."

"A-Archie Cullen?" I repeated. "H-How do you know my name?"

"Aye, I came to help. Had to break away from my mate and my sister but I did it," Archie said cheerfully before Derek's screams began.

"Derek!" Casey's voice screamed in horror as she rushed to his side. I could see the puncture holes in his neck and the blood and venom sliding out them.

Archie walked to Derek and frowned and said "It's too late…Enough venom has been pushed in to trigger it…"

"W-What does that mean?" Casey asked with a stammer.

"He's going to become a vampire…" Archie replied. "But there's not enough venom in his system…He'll die if he doesn't get mo-" His head then snapped up in alarm as we heard screams coming from the left of us. "Darn it…We need to run right away. More vampires are coming!"

Archie picked up Derek into his arms and a part of me wanted to laugh at such a height difference. He was as tall as Alice, carrying someone that nearly matched the height of my Jasper…

"We need to move fast!" Archie said as he began to run past me.

I quickly scrambled to my feet and began to run after him, with Casey running behind me.

All of this…It was my fault and if Derek didn't live, his blood is on my hands…

This was a horrible situation to be in.

Vampires in Canada, Bella here…All this business with Carlisle and this Deacon Frost…

As much as I hate Forks, I really wish I could be there right now…

"This is getting hectic…" Embry said to me as we ran through the airport. "And this is before the main event!"

Main event?

What was he talking about?

It was then I saw them.

In the distance, I saw vampire boy, holding a teenage boy about Bella's age that I assume is Derek. Behind them was the girl I assume was Casey and that little vampire bait herself in Bella but what had me on guard was the scent of seven other vampires behind them.

"I see them," I told Embry, who nodded in reply.

The second we met with this group, the short vampire rushed past us as he shouted "Hey Rosalie, Embry, you two pick them up and run!"

"How do you know our names?" I asked as the vampire raced ahead of us.

Casey and Bella slowed down beside us and panted heavily. It was shocking that they were able to somewhat keep up but maybe, this vampire kept it slow to watch them?

I don't know but this whole situation is weird…

The vampire skidded to a stop and looked back at us "All in due time! Now hurry!"

Embry and I watched him before I immediately picked up Bella, who nearly started to protest but I shot that down with a harsh glare while Embry grabbed Casey into his arms and the three of us were running towards the exit.

The minute we made it outside, Carlisle, Emmett, Jessamine and two vampires I had never seen was with them. "That goodness you guys are safe," Jessamine said before she looked at Derek in the small vampire's arms and whispered "Oh no…"

"Shit…" The unknown vampire said with an annoyed tone in his voice. "Too many of us…Our car is too small to fit us all."

"Double shit," the short vampire said as he pointed behind us. I turned around and saw dozens of vampires, with Victoria in front of them, heading our way.

I didn't need to be Jasper to know she was very pissed off.

"No choice, we'll have to fight," Emmett said with a grin.

"My sort of day," the muscular female vampire said as she rolled her right shoulder. "I take the ten on the right. You can take the ten on the left Mr. Buff."

"Oh please," Emmett said. "I'll take them all on right now Lady Muscles."

"No," the short vampire said with a grin. "Royal…My love…would you mind?"

The other vampire snorted and stepped forward and said "For you Archie, anything…All of you need to cover your ears…"

"Cover our ears?" I asked him.

"Trust me," Royal replied with a smirk.

I sat Bella down while Embry sat down Casey and we all covered our ears.

Royal took a deep breath and let out a violent scream towards on the oncoming vampire. With my enhanced hearing, I could see the faint shockwaves leaving his mouth and heading towards the group of vampires, which immediately caused them all to shriek in horror and fall to their knees, covering their ears as hard as they could.

Royal closed his mouth and said "That should stop them for some time…Super Sonic Scream…Can stun a vampire for up to twenty minutes and can knock humans unconscious for an hour…Now, we need to move."

"Already on it," the muscular female as she walked to large van and said "This is our ticket. Archie?"

The short vampire handed Derek to Jessamine before he walked over to the car and held his hand out to the woman. She pulled a bobby pin from her pocket as she said "Please make sure you don't crush it this time. I need it later."

"Alright Elle," Archie said as he began to pick the car door.

"So…Want to tell us who the hell you three are?" I asked with venom in my voice.

"Consider us allies…" Royal said as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a cigarette and a lighter. He lit the end of the cigarette then placed it into his mouth.

"You know that won't do anything on our kind, right?" I asked.

"Force of habit admittedly," he said. "Calms me down."

"Um…Excuse me," Jessamine began. "We have a situation here and being nonchalant about three newcomers is not helping." She then motioned to the squirming and groaning Derek in her arms.

"Levity is a good thing to have when shit is getting real newbie," Emmett and the female vampire said in unison. The two then looked at one another before they grinned.

I let my growl speak for my displeasure.

"Got it," Archie said as he opened the door and unlocked it. "Everyone pile in now and please be safe about it."

We all got into the spacious van and after a few seconds, the engine roared to life. "I knew those hot wiring classes were good to have," Emmett said with a large grin.

"I still can't believe it…" I sighed out.

Emmett quickly peeled out of the parking lot and got on the road.

"So…we're we going?" Archie asked.

"My home…" Casey whispered through tears as looked down at Derek's face. Despite the van being somewhat spacious, there was still ten of us here so Archie was sitting on Royal's lap and Derek was laying across Bella, mine and Casey's laps, with his head being on Casey's lap.

"I'll give directions," Embry said. "Just focus on him for now."

"Bella…" Carlisle began. "What in the world are you doing here?"

"I needed to come…" Bella whispered softly. "I couldn't let Jasper go with this war without him knowing how I feel…But had I known I was walking into this…"

"You still would have come," Archie interrupted. "I'm no future teller like Peter or Alice but from gazing at his memories, you're very headstrong Bella."

"Okay, explain to us how you know our names," I ordered as Bella lowered her head, tears falling from her eyes.

I wanted to console her but I needed to know how this vampire knew who we were…Maybe later kiddo…

"Simple…I can see the past of those I touch," Archie explained happily. "And the one I happened to touch was Jasper."

"What?!" the entire van shouted, minus the three vampires.

"My ears," Royal said.

"Yep, I saw Jasper's past and boy, it was rough but I learned a lot," Archie said. "But when we meet the others at Casey's home…You guys will get the full story. I promise."

I noticed that my father was strangely quiet and had been for some time and asked "Hey Dad…You okay up there?"

Carlisle looked back at me but while he smiled, his eyes had a seriousness I had never seen before.

"Nice to have you awake again Leah," I heard my beautiful wife tell the rather cute shape shifter as she ate some steak that the good Nora was happy to make for her.

"Thanks Charlotte. Man I'm heated through. That bitch threw an entire house at me! A whole one! Struck me so hard, I thought I could hear Alice's voice in my head!" Leah exclaimed after swallowing a bite of it.

"You thought you could hear Alice's voice?" Charlotte questioned.

"Who is Alice?" Seth asked.

"She's our sister," Charlotte responded.

Seth seemed to ponder this and right then, I swear it, I saw a light bulb go off in his head. "Hold up! Alice is a girl and she is a vampire…And you were blushing at her! You're in love with Alice!" Seth exclaimed.

"Love?!" Leah exclaimed as her face grew red. "I-I don't love Alice!"

"Why is your face so red then?" I asked with a large grin.

"Shuddap!" Leah yelled before she dug back into her food. "We need to be focusing on Jasper. Not this mythical love life…"

"So is she cute?" Seth asked after a second of silence, which caused me to laugh.

Yeah…I like this kid a lot.

"She is," Charlotte said. "Wanna see a picture?"

"Do I ever!" Seth replied as he moved towards my wife and peered at her phone. Seth then whistled and said "Boy, does she look hella cute. My sister is sooooo lucky."

Leah didn't respond but the intense glare she sent Seth's way was all the answer I needed to know her mood. "You know Leah…I think she likes you too," I told her.

"I'm not a lesbian Peter…" Leah said but her questioning tone told me that this weighed heavy on her mind.

"Never said you were. You could swing both ways. We can always test it," I responded with a waggle of my eyebrows.

Leah snorted at the implication but there was a wicked smile on her face before she motioned to Seth. "Oh yeah? You and your wife gonna rock my world or something?"

Hehehehe. Okay Leah, I see your plan…

"I mean…You're throwing it out there," Charlotte said, catching onto the conversation with a grin. "It wouldn't be the first time we did a little ménage…"

"With Leah? Ew," Seth responded, aghast.

"Not with me you dork," Leah responded. "But…Have you two done that?"

"Yeah. There was this rather cute human. Maura was her name I think? Me and Charlotte took her to town," I answered with a grin. "She left satisfied by the time we were done."

"How did that work?" Leah asked.

"Yeah, it was super easy, barely an inconvenience," I added.

"Oh really?" Leah asked, clearly interested.

"We have to be gentle on our side of it because humans break easily," Charlotte replied.

"Yeah, if you're offering to be the test subject, I think Charlotte and I wouldn't be opposed," I said with a teasing smirk.

"We can always go to our hotel room and work it out…" Charlotte said suggestively, which made me smirk.

"I may take you both up on that offer, I'm always down for a monster mash," Leah said, which caused both Charlotte and I to laugh hard.

"This whole conversation has turned for the worst," Seth groaned with a disgusted tone as he stood up and walked out the room.

Once he was out the room, Leah gave a large smirk and said "Thanks for going along with it."

"I know shit is intense and we need all the humor we can get before it gets worse," Charlotte said with a kind smile.

It was then the door opened and a tear-streaked Casey came running in with Jessamine and Embry following after her. Moments later, Rosalie, Emmett and Carlisle, the latter carrying Derek, rushed into the house and finally, Bella and three unfamiliar vampires.

"Sit him down here," Casey said as she clear the couch. Carlisle placed Derek on the couch and it was then I noticed that Derek was going through the transformation. "What the hell happened?" I heard Leah shout as Charlotte shot a look to me with concern.

"We went to get Bella and all of a sudden, V-Victoria appeared," Casey said. "He pushed Bella and me out of the way and Victoria bit him and now…now…" Casey broke down into tears as Derek let out an agonizing scream.

"Shit…" I muttered. "How much venom is in him?"

"Enough to trigger the change but not enough for it to be successful," the shorter vampire said. "My name is Archie Cullen, it is nice to see all of you. Thankfully the drive was short. He needs more venom in him to survive…"

"It's all my fault…" I heard Bella whisper despondently, tears falling down her eyes.

"It's not your f-fault," Casey told Bella with more tears falling down her eyes. "This is Derek's typically behavior. Throwing himself into danger without taking anything into consideration…" Casey suddenly punched the table and I was reminded of Derek's anger last night. "Damn that Victoria!" Casey shouted with fury.

Shit…This is really bad. "We need to pump more venom in him," I said.

"I will…" Carlisle said as he knelt down beside Derek and grabbed his wrist and said "I'm sorry…This is my fault…" And without further words, Carlisle chomped down on his wrist and began to pump venom into Derek's veins.

"Casey…Call your parents and siblings…" I told the blue-eyed girl. "They need to get back here as quickly as possible…They need to see him before he dies…"

Casey nodded and quickly walked out of the room to contact her family.

Well Derek…Looks like you're getting your wish after all…

But I wonder, do you think it was worth it now?

Rain: Hey guys! Rain here and another chapter has bitten za dusto. The next chapter will deal more with Derek's change as well as the real reason these three decided to come with them. Be ready for some tearful goodbyes, a shocking request from Casey and a surprising twist. Until then!
