The Crimson Eyed Drifter: Distance Between Hearts
Chapter Thirty-Three

Canada – Venturi Residence
Charlotte Whitlock

The air was somber. Something had changed and it didn't take a moron to know what. Casey had just done something amazingly stupid but from what I heard her say to Derek, it was also amazingly sweet.

Weirdly enough, I could Peter or even Jasper doing the same thing.

"I think we all should leave the family for a bit."

My head snapped up to see Eleanor looking at the group and I couldn't help but growl. She shouldn't even be in this house. If I wasn't so concerned about the mourning children and mother, I would have attacked her the second she walked in.

"I know it's sudden but we do have things to talk about and they need time to decompress from all that has occurred," She said with a serious tone.

She must have seen me glaring and it only pissed me off more when she grinned. "Besides cutie. I know you're itching to lay your hands on me so let's leave them be," She said with a wink.

"Char, calm down," Peter said as he rested a hand on my forearm, calming the agitated growl that wanted to escape. "You're right. We need to go. We've caused enough trouble," Peter said to Eleanor.

"Nonsense," Nora spoke up with a shake of her head. Despite the sorrow being blatant on her face, a smile was still on it. "Yes, things are terrible. My step-son lays here becoming one of you and I have a feeling that my daughter has too…But they aren't dead. They are still alive…And again, you are all the reason they lived last night and the reason we lived last night as well…Peter, you, Charlotte, Jasper, Leah, Seth, Embry, Jessamine and all of your other friends. We owe you a debt."

"Nora…" I whispered softly said softly.

"Don't get me wrong, I am very angry at the events but not at the ones that have helped us," Nora clarified. "But if we can contain this tragedy to our family and not have any more suffer like we are, that would help."

"She has a point," her taller male companion said. "We did come here for a reason. Let's head outside so we can talk about it." I watched as Eleanor pushed herself off the wall and gave a brief bow to Nora and the kids and before she made her way to the patio to where the backyard would lead.

"We'll stay in here to look after them. Just fill us in afterwards," I heard Leah tell Peter as my eyes focused on Eleanor, who unlocked of the patio door, she stepped outside and I quickly followed, the scent of slain newborns still permeated this area from where Leah, Seth and Embry had slain them.

I could hear everyone behind me enter the backyard and the second she turned around, I was in front of her, my hand balling up her collar. "Where is my brother?" I asked angrily.

The bitch merely smirked at me.

"Char," Peter said with a warning tone from behind me.

"Man, she really wants to go at it," Eleanor's shorter male companion said with a clap, his voice showing his amusement.

"Look here Char," Eleanor whispered as she bent down to my level. Admittedly, if I was human, I would have been flustered by this. As much as I despise her right now, she was very attractive.

I could see Peter's smug expression from out the corner of my eye.

Why was he so smug?

"Anytime, anywhere cutie. We can settle our fight from last night. But we have business right now," She whispered

"You better believe we will," I responded with bared teeth.

Her smirk deepened as she leaned up away from me and said "Okay, time to start this talk. Hi guys, Names Eleanor Cullen."

"Cullen?" Rosalie asked curiously. "You share our surname."

"Of course, my father Veiss has the same surname," the tall male vampire said. "Hi, Royal Cullen and this is my mate, Archie Cullen."

"Nice to meet you," Archie said with a bright smile.

"Cool, I'm Emmett Cullen. This is my wife, Rosalie Cullen and those two are Charlotte and Peter Whitlock," Emmett said with a smile similar to Archie's. "You got some might big guns on you Eleanor. I can't wait to fight you."

"Get in line," Charlotte muttered angrily.

"Hey now, there is plenty of me to go around," I said with a flex of my right arm while Royal rolled his eyes.

"Don't pump up her ego," Royal sighed out. "Anyways, we're here because we need your help," Royal said. "Our leader, Lord Frost, is planning a hostile takeover of Canada. He's been planning it for decades but a certain group kept thwarting his plans. It was then Victoria came over."

"That name is already annoying," Jessamine said with a growl.

"Yeah. Well she came to him with an army and said she'd make more if we help her slaughter The Cullen clan. Needless to say, we were confused," Royal continued.

"Oh? You thought you were the only Cullens then?" Rosalie asked.

"Yeah," Archie said. "We had no idea you guys existed until I peered into Victoria's past. Our father was very interested by this development and spearheaded the project but it was Lord Frost who saw the God of War."

"His name is Jasper," I snapped angrily.

"Sorry, Jasper," Archie said as he shrank a bit, which made me feel guilty.

"I'm sorry Archie," I told him.

"Tis okay," Archie replied happily. "So after we found out about Jasper, we were ordered to capture him. However, he happened to show up here. Eleanor and Edythe, our other sister, went along with our father to capture him and that's when we met you guys."

"However, some of us aren't keen on killing every human to take over. Royal, Archie, our older brother and sister Earnest and Carine, our youngest brother Beau and I only feed on criminals. We don't want to see so many lives being needlessly slaughtered. So our plan was to come here, tell you about her plan to stop our father and Lord Frost," Eleanor explained.

"And what about Jasper?" Peter asked.

"Well, the reason we decided to go through with the mission to kidnap him is because….Lord Frost is a very heartless individual and knowing about Jasper's abilities make him the best bet to defeat Lord Frost," Archie said with a sigh.

"All of this is highly convenient. You and your family want to overthrow this Frost guy so you seek us out after finding out our existence? How can we trust you to not trying to lure us into a trap?" Rosalie questioned.

"They seem on the up and up Rose," Emmett said.

"She's right though," I said as I looked to Eleanor. "I could have been trapped in the falls had I not been able to break out. You bunch dropped a house on Leah. And yeah, you helped save Derek, Casey and Bella but this all too much to believe."

Eleanor snorted and looked to Archie and asked "Will you?"

Archie nodded and stepped forward and held out each hand. "Rosalie. You take one hand and Charlotte, you take the other."

"Why?" We both asked in unison.

"My gift seems to the opposite of your Alice's gift. I can view into anyone's past with a touch and if I focus hard enough, I can let people view mine. And what better way to have trust than to show it?"

Rosalie and I exchanged glances before I looked to Peter.

"Do it," Peter said with a encouraging smile.

I nodded and clasped Archie's right hand while Rosalie hesitantly grabbed his left. It was then I felt my mind being overloaded with memories belonging to the small vampire. From his human death and rebirth by the hands of the Carlisle look-a-like, him meeting and falling in love with Royal to their family being forced to serve Deacon Frost.

Vision after vision of Archie's past flashed through my mind until finally, the memory stopped and I found myself watching the group talking about Jasper and the plan, exactly as the trio had told us.

Without warning, I found myself back in the Venturi-McDonald backyard with Rosalie, who looked angry. "Well, I guess we need to trust you now," Rosalie said. "Damn it, I was so looking forward to not getting into a war."

"Whoo! War time baby," Emmett said with a fist pump.

"It seems everything was good?" Royal asked.

I nodded but scowled at Eleanor, who winked at me with a cocky grin.

Damn her.

"Alright, now that we got that clear, let's talk about how to get to Jasper," Peter said.

Canada – Castle Frost
Edythe Cullen

"Yo Edythe!"

I opened my eyes and leaned up to see my younger brother Beau. Beaufort Cullen was the newest member of our family. He was damn near death when I found him. He had been nearly drained by a vampire.

Luckily father was able to find a gift within him and changed him. He is my second best friend, after Eleanor, and was quite powerful with as well. He could create weapons with venom itself. It was quite peculiar.

Beau was also cute in a boyish way. Medium length brown hair he kept in a bed head style, dimples, large crimson eyes and a fairly muscular build but more towards the running type instead of weight lifting type.

"Ah, hello Beaufort," I said as I rose to my feet.

"Don't call me that," Beau replied with a grimace. "You seen pops around? I was hoping to get some training in today."

"Unfortunately not," I said softly. "He is currently with Lord Frost."

"Damn it….What about Earnest and Carine, were are they?" Beau asked.

"That I do not know," I admitted. "Last I heard, they were in the training room."

"Probably having sex or something," Beau said.

We both shuddered.

Earnest and Carine were a lot like the mother and father the rest of us wished we had. I love my father but he can be cold and calculating, similar to me. "Well, since they are busy, you want to spar?" Beau asked.

"No thank you. I am watching our guest," I replied as I motioned to the unconscious God of War within his tank. As long as I focused and smothered his consciousness, he would remain this way until Earnest and Carine came to try and shift his mind.

"Oh! So he's Jasper Hale…Heh, he looks pretty strong. I kind of want to fight him…" Beau said excitedly.

"You and Royal both," I responded dryly. "Honestly, you two are like children."

"I mean look at him!" Beau argued cheerfully as he motioned to our captive. "Those scars are making me want to run away something fierce. The only one that has just as many scars is Lord Frost himself."

I nodded.

"Those scars are what makes them both so fearsome," I told him. "Watching him fight father, there is something in him that tells me if we had given him more time, he could have defeated him."

"Whoa, that's some high praise. You normally don't give those out," Beau teased with a lopsided grin.

"I give them out to those that deserve it," I said as I reached over to pinch his cheek playfully. "Now run along. I need to keep focus in keeping him sleeping."

"Yeah, yeah…Oh! Royal, Archie and Eleanor. Did they come back yet?" Beau asked.

"Come back?" I asked, puzzled.

"Yeah, they went into town like three hours ago. They seemed to be in a hurry," Beau said.

"Interesting…." I muttered. "Now be gone with you."

"Okay, okay. Yeesh," Beau said before he walked off, whistling a tune. Admittedly, I was envious of Beau. I wish I could be as carefree as he was.

I laid down and shut my eyes in thought but it was then I saw the eyes of determination looking back at me. Soon, a body began to form around the eyes, revealing a familiar sight of a naked and wounded women, a smirk on her face.

"Leah Clearwater. The baddest bitch in the world...Literally."

Leah Clearwater…Why can't I get you out of my head?

"That's Leah for you…She has a very strong personality." My eyes snapped open as I looked at the tank with the floating God of War within it.

No…

"Yeah. This isn't my first time with this, you know?"

Get out of my head.

"You're the one in my head kid. Keeping me at bay…It is not my fault I found a way to make this a two-way call and with that said, I'm going to make your life hectic until I get out out…"

Suddenly, I felt a wave of anger slam into my chest, which sent me to one knee.

So much Malice…

"Now tell me, what am I doing here?"

I gritted my teeth. I refuse God of War…You'll just have to do your worst…

His chuckle echoed within my skull as another wave of malice hit me. It was as if Father had punched me in the chest.

But I will endure this.
