Pipp, Zipp, Sunny and Hitch were leaving tracks in the snow as they walked up to Izzy's treehouse. The sun was setting behind them which made the snow shimmer.
Zephyr Heights never got snow before. Pipp blissfully rolled a quick snowball. She giggled before throwing it at Zipp. Her sister saw it coming and flew up to dodge it.
Zipp Storm secretly had a snowball. The pegasus quickly threw it. The snow landed directly on Pipps nose. The singer flinched before rubbing the snow off her face.
The popstar rapidly created another snowball. The snow was yellow but she shrugged it off not knowing the difference. Pipp Petals flung the snowball into the sky with all her might. It was about to hit Zipp's stomach. Quickly curving her body towards the left, the snowball just missed Zipp. After going into the air for a few moments, it came crashing back down. The snow got all in Pipp's hair. While grumbling she shook the snow out.
As they kept walking, Hitch kept glancing behind him. A reindeer was trailing several feet behind the group. Everytime Hitch looked behind him, the reindeer would freeze. The sheriff rolled his eyes.
"What are you looking at," Zipp questioned as she floated back down.
"I swear that reindeer is trying to follow me," Hitch said.
"Animals tend to automatically get attracted to him," Sunny added.
"It's like a curse," the sheriff sighed.
"No, that's cute," Pipp Petals said.
When the four came up to Izzy's home, the reindeer hid away in the bushes. Despite it being Winter, all of the leaves remained on the tree. The entire top was covered in snow. Icicles were hanging off of each branch.
Sunny Starscout opened the door to the treehouse. Izzy granted permission for the group to enter her house at anytime. When the four came inside the treehouse their eyes light up. Sunny and Pipp gasped in amazement at the colors that filled the room.
Paper crafted snowflakes were hanging from the ceiling. Blue Christmas lights on a green string was wrapped around the staircase. Cloth lied on each table to resemble snow. Planted near the entry at to the kitchen was giant candy canes made out of plastic.
As the door closed, a handmade wreath came into view as it hung on the door behind them. Pinecones with glitter was glued onto the wreath. Glued on the inner ring was a complete circle of silver bells. When the door closed, the bells made a soft ring echo throughout the house.
Hearing this, Izzy rushed down the stairs. Jumping onto the stair handrail, she slid down fast to the bottom floor.
"Hi guys," she shouted.
Izzy Moonbow went over to a fake fireplace she crafted. It was made out of solid bricks. A single black legging sock was nailed above a glass panel. Logs were firmly placed in the fire place.
The unicorn pressed a button on the side. The glass illuminated a flashing picture of a fire. Upon closer inspection, Sunny noticed that there was led lights inside the glass. Of course, a real fire wouldn't be a good idea to light inside a tree.
"What inspired you to do all this," Zipp questioned.
"I borrowed a journal from Sunny that went over detail of a holiday called Heart's Warming," Izzy explained.
Izzy Moonbow pulled out a pink journal from her tail. Three balloons were printed on the cover. The journal was half the size as Sunny's personal one. The unicorn used her magic to flip through the pages.
"It used to be a big holiday to celebrate the three pony kinds getting along," Izzy finished.
"Honestly, said tale is why I never believed Sunny," Hitch commented.
"Why's that," Sunny questioned.
"Because of the Windegos. If the stories you and your dad used to tell were true, wouldn't the Windegos freeze over Equestria moons ago," Hitch said.
Using her magic, Izzy levitated some more Christmas lights and a star topper from upstairs. The star was painted gold and covered in glitter. Some glitter fell off while it was being carried downstairs.
When the two items floated over to Izzy, the unicorn sighed. The cords got tangled up. Izzy quickly used her magic to unravel the cords. She folded them together neatly in her hooves when finished.
"Ponies would decorate trees by wrapping lights around it and putting a star on top," the unicorn explained.
She flipped through the journal towards the front pages. Stopped and showed the group a picture on the page. It was on a pine tree in a barn. Applejack, Applebloom, Granny Smith, Big Mac, Sugar Belle, Pinkie Pie, Cheese Sandwich and Muad Pie sat on the ground in front of the tree. The tree was completely covered in Christmas lights with variety of colors and a silver star on top.
"Would you two sisters please go take care of that?"
Pipp Petals gently grabbed the Christmas lights out of Izzy's hooves. Carefully moving their hooves so the cords didn't get tangled again, the Pegasus hovered a few inches in the air when having a firm grasp. Zipp grabbed the star. Some glitter come off it and got stuck on Zipp's front hooves.
"I got the lights," the popstar said with a slight singing tone.
The twin pegasi flew out of the house with their decoration items. Sunny opened and closed the door for the them. Course of habit, the Earth pony reached over to adjust a picture frame once the door closed. But there was none.
Hitch mindlessly wandered around. He stopped and looked up. A mistletoe hung directly above him. He could have sworn he saw the type of plant before but want sure why Izzy had it as decoration.
"What's this," Hitch asked as kept staring at it.
"That's a mistletoe," Izzy started.
"Don't try to eat it. It's a bit poisonous," the unicorn continued while scratching her tongue.
"You tried to eat it, didn't you," Sunny said.
"No," Izzy lied.
Izzy Moonbow darted her eyes back and forth as she continued to scratch her itchy tongue. A candy cane was on a table behind her. Izzy quickly picked it up and rapidly sucked on it. She had the entire curved part in her mouth.
Sunny Starscout saw another candy cane on the table. She grabbed it and instantly took a bite out of it.
A few moments later, Zipp and Pipp came back in the door. The pegasi hovered around while inside. Pipp was waving around her phone. Turning her head to the fake fireplace, she took a picture of it.
"I have pictures," Pipp said.
Pipp Petals was too busy looking at Izzy Moonbow and Sunny Starscout that she accidentally collided with Hitch. The singer fell back onto ground. The sheriff looked up at the mistletoe with a sigh.
"Now due to Heart's Warming tradition, you two must kiss," Izzy laughed.
"What," the pegasi said in union.
"That is what it says in the book," Sunny stated.
Pipp and Hitch looked at Izzy in annoyance.
"Let's just make this quick," Hitch Trailblazer grunted.
Their lips swiftly locked onto each other. Pipp had her eyes closed as the Earth pony kept them wide open. After a few seconds, Hitch closed his eyes as well.
Sunny couldn't believe what she was seeing. She used both front hooves to rub her eyes to make sure she wasn't hallucinating or dreaming. Izzy giggled as what was promised to be a few seconds turned into a minute!
Zipp quickly snapped a photo with her phone to savor the moment. She planned to use it as blackmail. She quickly texted the picture to her younger sister.
The cellphone vibrating in Pipp's wings finally caused the two to break apart. Hitch backed away out of embarrassment whole blushing. Pipp was blushing as she took out her phone. When she saw the picture Zipp sent her, it only made the princess blush even harder.
"Kinda love," Pipp whispered.
