I'm home

This is meant to be right after OoTP, sometime during that summer after. I woke up this morning feeling really, really sad and I needed to get it out somehow, and so I started writing. There is character death just so that you are warned. Please review and let me know what you think.

Disclaimer: I do not own of J.K.R's fabulous works, I'm only borrowing them temporarily or something to that effect.

A young man no older than fifteen stood in the middle of a thunderstorm, staring down at the two graves before him somberly. Gently lowering the body that he carried with him to the ground, he straightened raising his face with eyes closed to the rain falling from above. His untidy black hair was plastered to his head in a mix of both blood and rain. Falling to his knees, his eyes opened to reveal breathtakingly beautiful emerald orbs. Garbed in torn black robes, tears dripped from his tormented eyes, as his lithe form began to tremble violently. Anguished sobs tore from his throat as a steadily growing puddle of red gathered beneath him. For several long agonizing minutes all that could be heard were his sobs, punctuated occasionally by murmurs of "I'm sorry" and "it's over". As the sobbing came to an end, he lifted his hands to place them lovingly upon the graves before him. His breath ragged, his eyes slid closed once more, as tears silently ran down his already tear-streaked face. The names upon etched upon the graves became visible as lightening flashed from above.

A raspy voice broke the silence once more.

"Mum…Dad…Sirius…I brought him home."

Raising himself from the spot where he had fallen, he pulled out his wand from his torn robes and pointed it at a patch of dirt beside the graves. He whispered a spell and the ground moved, leaving him an empty place within the earth. Reaching down for the body beside him, he lifted it into his arms and lowered it carefully into the wet earth. Another spell and the ground was moved back with a new gravestone set upon its surface. Dropping to his knees once more, he spoke as lightening flashed above him.

"I told you that I would bring here you here, Moony."

Wrapping his arms around himself tightly he spoke in his raspy voice.

"I fulfilled the prophecy. Voldemort attacked last night while I was at the Dursleys. He said that when he took my blood fourth year that it made the protection spells worthless. While the Death Eaters were torturing me, Dumbledore showed up with the Order. With the confusion of everything that was going on, I didn't know that Moony was dead until it was all over. When I saw him, I knew that the only place he belonged was here."

Breaking down again, he sobbed unrestrainedly as he tried to continue talking.

"I…I…I killed him…I killed Voldemort. All I…I could th-think of …were all of the lives that he had ruined. When I said the final spell, I saw all of your faces in my mind."

Looking up at the trio of graves, he smiled brokenly before continuing.

"I'm a murderer."

Lying down on the cold ground, he felt the rain beat down on his battered face as he cried. Long hours passed as his breath became shallow from the loss of his life's blood, and he spoke one last time.

"I'm home."

As his breathing came to a stop and his eyes slowly slid closed, he saw the silvery ghosts of his family gathered around him. A young woman with long hair, a stag, a wolf, and a dog.

"Welcome home, Prongslet."

And finally he knew what peace was like.

It's done. I'm not too sure how good it is, considering that I'm writing this half asleep, but oh well. I hope that you like it, and if you don't, well I'm sorry.
