Sara sat on the side of Cassie's new bed as Nick gently lay the sleeping child it. Cassie awoke for a few minutes, long enough for Sara to help the weary 9-year-old out of her dirty clothes and into a clean new nightgown, while Nick started some Alphabet Soup for dinner, Sara's favourite. He watched as Sara tucked her in, pulling the covers over her. "Night, Sara..." Cassie whispered, snuggling into her bed. Sara smiled and whispered back. "Night, Cassie." Nick smiled at the maternal change in Sara. Sara stood, and slowly backed out of the room, almost crashing into Nick, who caught her. She looked up to him, a smile on her face. They blissfully watched Cassie, Nick's arm around Sara's waist.
Later, as Nick clened up the dishes, Sara examined their DVD collection. "Let's watch 'In Good Company'!" She said, plucking the case out of the cabinet. Nick dried his hands and walked over to the couch as Sara put the DVD in. The big screen lit up as the movie started. Sara lay on the couch, her head in Nick's lap. Nick slowly stroked Sara's dark locks as the watched the movie. "I always thought she looked like Catherine..." Sara mused, as the blonde woman on the screen gossiped with her husband. "I did too...She acts kind of like Cath too..." Nick said slowly. Sara turned her head up towards his, smiled, and turned back to the movie.

Nick awoke to a finger poking into his chest. He opened one eye to see two blue ones staring at him. "Cassie?" He whispered. He looked down to see Sara asleep against him, her head on his chest. He propped himself up against the side of the couch, waking Sara. She rubbed her eyes and glanced to the digital clock on the coffee table. 8:30 AM. "Morning, Cas." Nick said slowly. She smiled at him. "Are you hungry?" asked Sara, sitting up. "Yeah..." Cassie replied. "Okay, then. How about some blueberry pancakes?" He asked, standing up. Sara grinned. "Yeah!" both girls replied in unison. Nick began the batter, while Cassie changed and Sara got the mail. Nick frowned when he saw Sara's face as she walked back into the living room. She deposited the assorted bills on the counter and walked into their room, carrying a single brown envelope. She had not said one word to Nick. Nick watched the closed door for a minute, going through all the possible contents of that envelope. He was about to follow her into the bedroom when a smell of burning pancakes came from the frying pan. He quickly turned, knocking over a bag of Blue Hawaiian. The brown beans began to slip onto the floor. Nick grabbed the bag, put it right-side-up, and jumped over to the stove, rescuing the blue-spotted circles.
Sara had still not come out of their room 2 hours later, so Nick decided he had better go in there to male sure she was'ent commiting suicide or anything. Cassie timidly asked if she could have a bath, and Nick directed her towards the bathroom as he entered his room. Sara sat on the side of the bed, tears rolling down her face, clutching the infamous brown envelope. "Sara, honey? What's wrong?" He asked softly, sitting beside her. She handed him the envelope.

He read it again, then glanced up at her. "Your mom's out?" He asked confusedly. Sara replied slowly, watching Nick. "She got out a few years ago...I have'nt seen her for 20 years though...She sends me letters..I never reply.."Nick glanced at her again, before pulling her into a hug. "Oh, honey.." He whispered. Then a thought came to his head. "But..If you don't reply..How does she know you're here, or that we're married...?" He asked. She looked at him. "I don't know...I only told one person about her being out..." She said guiltly. "Grissom?" He asked, the thought of that man so angrying. "Yeah.." She whispered slowly. "That bastard! Manipulating us through your own damn mother!" Nick said, his voice rising angrily. "Nicky, Nicky!" She said quickly, snapping him out of his destructive mood. He looked at her. "Cassie's here!" She quickly scolded him. He glanced at her before replying. "I will not let him do this to you, Sara! I am your husband and I will not stand for this!" He said slowly, attempting to be calm, but anger apparent in his voice. "Nicky, don't go getting yourself in trouble over this! I am your wife and I will not let you do this!" He voice fierce. They eyed eachother for a moment. "Fine, Sara. I won't hurt him. But I will tell Catherine." He said slowly. Sara nodded."Okay.." She whispered.
