"I think this is for the best, Piper. I really am sorry," Jason began apologetically as he looked at Piper. They were both on their break, and Jason needed to talk to Piper. He hated how tense things had been around her. "I'm sorry for not taking your feelings into consideration about this and only thinking of my needs."
"It's okay, Jason," Piper began.
"It's not," Jason refused. "And, I know that now. I really shouldn't have spent so long thinking this entire thing over. It makes me look like a selfish prick. I love being your friend, and I don't want to do that to you."
"You won't," Piper promised. "So, no more sex."
"No more sex," Jason agreed. "And, I didn't think of you as a sex toy. I was just comfortable sleeping with you, so without you, I don't know what to do."
"We'll figure something out, Jason. I'm sure Chiron can think of something to help you," Piper suggested. Jason nodded his agreement. "Hug?"
"Hug," Jason agreed. He gently hugged Piper. She rested her head on his chest for a moment before pulling away. "Are we still going to hang out and watch movies?"
"Of course," Piper replied. "And, we'll find something to keep your energy down during the full moon."
"Go to a gym," Clarisse called from across the breakroom. She was in the middle of dumping half a bottle of salad dressing onto her salad. It was in a huge salad bowl, and Piper only wondered how long it would take for her to toss it. "I go with Reyna a few nights a week, and Annabeth even tags along sometimes. Stop being lazy."
"Buy a hooker," Leo chimed in as he passed by on his way to the storage room. Jason rolled his eyes and looked at Piper.
"Thalia is bringing food, so I'm going to eat in the car with her," Jason decided as he forced a smile onto his face. Piper nodded and grinned at him. Jason walked out of the breakroom, and when he was far enough away, he slammed his fist into his upper thigh. Punching anything else would break it, and he didn't need anyone to worry about his temper.
Jason knew it was the right thing to stop everything with Piper. It wasn't fair to keep having sex with her if she didn't want it without a relationship attached. That didn't help his frustration, though. He just felt irritated, angry. The full moon hung in the night for two days like it was taunting him.
Jason growled as he stepped outside. He walked towards his sister's car and sat in the passenger. Thalia was in the middle of eating her burrito. She passed the bag over to him and waved. Jason smiled slightly, but it felt fake. He opened his burrito and took a huge bite.
"How are you?" Jason asked through his mouthful of grub.
"Tired," Thalia replied before taking another bite. She seemed to be chewing on her thoughts and food at the same time. "This damn investigation is pissing me off. Lycaon hasn't confessed to anything, and we have no proof that he actually killed Ma Gasket's kids."
"It makes the most sense," Jason commented.
"It does," Thalia agreed. "But, Lycaon swears up and down that he didn't. The problem is I don't have proof if he did or not, which means we can't put him behind bars for it."
"There's no proof at all?" Jason repeated disbelievingly. Thalia handed him his drink. "Thanks."
"Ma Gasket didn't teach her kids that security is important," Thalia commented. "Her bar doesn't have any cameras, so we don't know if anyone got into an altercation there or if someone was tailing her boys. There are no cameras around where her boys lived, so we have no clue who the killer is."
Thalia sighed, "Lycaon swears he didn't do it, and Ma Gasket insists he did. Personally, I don't give a shit. It would have been great if they just killed each other during their brawl. I just want this damn case to be over with."
"Sorry it's such a headache," Jason said as he continued to wolf down his burrito.
"Don't get any crumbs in my car," Thalia warned as she handed two more burritos to Jason. Her phone rang, and she groaned. "Fuck me."
"That's kind of gross," Jason commented. Thalia rolled her eyes and hit his shoulder. She answered her phone and rolled her eyes hard enough it probably caused her to see stars.
"Yeah. Be there as soon as I can," Thalia said. She hung up her phone. "Sorry. Work called."
"The two minutes that we spent together was nice," Jason commented. Thalia bumped his shoulder again.
"I have a day off soon. We'll hang out all day," Thalia promised.
"I look forward to it," Jason said. He gave her a genuine smile and then got out of the car with his drink and burritos. Thalia waved at him and drove away. Jason watched her go and sighed.
Jason turned and walked towards the door. He saw Reyna was checking someone's ID before letting them in. There was no one else in line, and Reyna closed her eyes for a moment. Jason kept his gaze on her, and he felt his knee slam into the bench as he wasn't paying attention to where he was going.
"Fuck!" Jason snapped as he turned and kicked the stupid bench.
"Are you okay?" Reyna asked as she opened her eyes and looked at him. Jason glanced at her, glared at the bench, and then let out an angry sigh. His gaze shifted back to Reyna. Jason knew the outburst had been uncharacteristic, but he was just irritated. He didn't know what to do for this cycle of the full moon.
"The stupid full moon," Jason ranted. "Piper and I agreed to not have sex, so I don't know what to do. I don't want to fuck a stranger."
"Why not just go for a run every day and try to tire yourself out that way or just cool yourself down a little?" Reyna suggested. "Clarisse and I do boxing matches. Those sparring sessions could help you."
"That won't work," Jason snapped. "The only thing that works for me is sex."
Reyna rolled her eyes. Jason glared at her and seethed, "You don't get it."
Reyna watched him for a moment. Then, she shrugged and glanced around. Jason growled angrily and walked towards the front door. A sigh left Reyna, "You only want to sleep with someone you know?"
"Yeah," Jason confirmed. He turned towards her. "I don't feel comfortable just having a one-night stand with someone I have never met before. I don't know if they'll hate werewolves or something else. Piper and I agreed not to sleep together. Hazel is dating Frank. Annabeth already declined, and I think Clarisse would break me in half if I asked."
"And, I'm not opposed to guys, but I don't think I'm ready to sleep with one," Jason continued with a sigh. "I really don't know what to do."
Jason looked down. He would just have to figure it out. Maybe Juno could set him up with someone. Granted, he didn't want to sleep with an old lady. Jason turned to go back inside.
"I'll do it."
Jason froze and slowly looked back at Reyna. There was a small blush on Reyna's face, and she quickly averted her gaze. She shifted uncomfortably.
"You'll do it?" Jason slowly asked.
"Well, you don't want to sleep with a stranger," Reyna began. She swallowed painfully, and her face turned redder. Reyna fixed her collar and shifted again. "You want to sleep with someone you know, and uh..."
Reyna trailed off and looked at the ground. There was a full-blown blush on her face. Jason continued, "Would you really sleep with me?"
"If you want," Reyna agreed after a few moments. She slowly looked at Jason, and he just stared at her. It wasn't that he was opposed to the idea of it, just shocked. Jason studied the woman in front of him. Even with the blush on her face and her shoulders tense, Reyna looked cute.
If he was being honest, Jason would never sleep with someone just because they were hot, but it did help. Why would Reyna offer to sleep with him, though? Did she have some kind of crush on him? Was she just trying to be nice?
"I don't know," Jason began. "Aren't you worried about me hurting you? Because you said I shouldn't sleep with Piper because I could hurt her."
"You won't hurt me," Reyna assured. "I know that you don't want to date the person you sleep with. You don't have to worry about that with me. I'm not going to get feelings for you, no offense. I also don't give a shit if you want to end it suddenly to date someone."
"How would it work?" Jason questioned. Reyna raised an eyebrow. "You know. Like... how?"
"Well, we would have sex," Reyna began. "Not here of course. At one of our places. You'll wear a condom, we'll fuck, and go home after. We don't have to talk about it."
Jason hesitated and then looked down, "I, um, I really have to think about that. It's not that I don't want to. I just..."
"It's alright, Jason. I don't expect you to have an immediate answer, and I'm sure you have questions. I'm clean, by the way. No STDs if you're thinking about that. I also don't care how rough we get. You don't have to hold back for me like you did for Piper," Reyna rambled, and another blush curtained her face.
"I'll let you know," Jason promised. Reyna nodded.
"No hard feelings either. If you don't want to, I get it," Reyna said quickly.
"Yeah. No. I, uh, should go back inside," Jason excused as his own face heated up. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. Jason quickly hurried inside with the offer running through his head. It felt like it had come out so suddenly.
Jason knew that werewolves weren't the only species that felt the need to have sex to get excess energy out. Piper was like that too. There were others that he heard about, but why would Reyna offer to have sex with him? Was that why she told him not to sleep with Piper anymore?
He never got the indication that Reyna really cared about the affairs of others. The more he thought about it, the less he was sure why Reyna wanted to have sex with him. Was it possible she was another species that desired sex often? One that could handle sleeping with a werewolf?
They all talked about it before, wondering exactly what Reyna was. So far, they had ruled out a human and mermaid. Other than that, they weren't getting any hints. Clarisse would just give them a shrug and tell them she didn't know.
Jason glanced back at the door. That blush was still on Reyna's face as she stared ahead. Jason studied her. He would have to think about it more, but maybe, he would take her up on her offer.
