AN: beyond the whole no moneys not attempt at etc, etc, etc, that you read with everyone else, and already know or understand that I mean no harm... BTW sorry if I kill off favorite characters. Anyway, where was I, oh yes. My computer hates Hagrid and Elf speak. I dislike having to write it, No beta, first non merlin or whomever swear. This deals with the after math of the battle. They are not pretty and I couldn't gloss over some of this. But look, we saw baby harry, and nevile... so there was that. All mistakes are my own , no beta, not British, just letting the monster that is my imagination run wild.
There will be a slow up here after the next few chapters as I get to the end of what I have previously written, and where I am writing now. I have ten days to go till my wedding, and have my mother being somewhat demanding on my time. After the first of Nov. I plan on picking back up the story and churning it out for you as quickly as I can.
If you have trouble understanding or any other comments please let me know. Just because it makes sense in my head doesn't mean that it makes sense on paper. now on with the show.
Chapter 7 'Let slip the dogs of war.'
October 31, 1981: 3:12am till dawn.
The blast wave crashed into Dumbledore. He watched the others around him fall to the power of it. Some lay to never get up again, while others were beginning to slowly stir under their own power. Unlike others it had not completely dropped him, he still had staggered under the weight of the magical release. His loyal half-giant Hagrid came running up to him. The wave of magic had not hampered Hagrid as much as it had the rest of his forces. 'There's always somethings that certain types of half breeds are good for.' He smiled at the easy-going man as he came up to him.
"Per'fesser, you alright?"
"Yes, thank you Hagrid." Dumbledore took the proffered hand to help him stand from the knee that he had taken in the wake of magical overload. "Hagrid, I wonder if I might have you do me a favor."
"Anythin' fer you sir." Hagrid had taken several curses and was injured but he would be best for this since parts of his family cottage were outright destroyed. The man would be able to easily handle a bookshelf or something heavier falling on him.
"I need you to go into the house and get Harry. Bring him to me if he is still alive. Also let me know who else remains alive in the I don't know what that magical blast was, or what caused it. If Mr. Riddle is still alive, stun him in some way and bring him to me." Dumbledore coughed up some blood. 'Hmm, perhaps I didn't get away from that blast completely unscathed either.'
"Alrigh, you jus stay there, an I'll be back in a minute." The large man ran off towards the house.
Dumbledore pulled out his wand, "Poppy we need medics at Godric's Hollow." He sent his patronus off. Hopefully the witch would be quick.

Hagrid crawled in through a hole in the side wall of the house. He could see parts of the stairs remaining, and a ladder that had been used. It was now bent and twisted upon itself. He could hear a baby cry from upstairs. "Well, nothin to it I guess," Heconcentrated, and pointed his large pink umbrella at the stairs, conjuring replacement stone steps to help him get to the second floor.
As he reached the landing, he could see Harry in his crib bawling. There were a few minor scratches on him but most of the caved in ceiling, and other damage to the room, had easily cleared his crib. He could see Professor Snape lying on top of Lily. It looked as if he had tackled her, strange, there were some additional dress robes under him. 'woner if the per'fesser was getting somthin tha was warded to grab baby harry wit.' He checked the two adults, Severus was still breathing, but Lily lay dead. Glassy eyes staring up at the night sky from where a roof should have been.
He gathered up the robes that were laying under Snape as he woke him. "Per'fesser, Per'fesser," he shook the man as he started to rouse.
"Hagrid?"
"Sir. You need to get out o' here before the res collapses." He bundled up Harry in the cast-off robes and made a sling out of them. "I see ya saved Sirius's boy there then. I know he was not yer favorite. Still, one less child ta get injured." The half giant smiled at the somber man. "You best be getting him outta here as well. I've got Harry and Lily. I can come back fer anyone else."
"Sirius's son?" He was confused, "I didn't know he had a child." He saw the infant that he had huddled to protect and picked him up. The child stirred, before settling back down with a thumb in his mouth. The baby did look a bit like the elder black, but there was something off, now that he thought about it, he just couldn't place it.
"Er, yeah, I suppose. I mean I haven' been around Sirius lately, but the little tyke looks like him. Well, he probably takes more after his mummy than daddy I suppose." Hagrid ran a large hand through the thick tangle of hair. He looked at the younger man and stooped to pick up the body of Lily Potter. "Come on, let's get goin before the whole house falls on top of yeh." Hagrid carried Lily carefully out of the room, with little Harry safe in the sling pouch he had made.
Severus slowly followed the half-giant out of the house. He looked down into the killing curse green eyes that the child had, as it kept blinking up at him. 'Sirius doesn't have a son. Walburga has been on both him and Reg to provide an heir. Did the Dark Lord? No, surely, he didn't. Of course he did, he didn't listen to my warning of taking another dose.'

Regulus woke and looked around him. Several other people were slowly coming to from the blast wave. He crawled over to his brother. "Finite Incantatum." The ice released Pettigrew and Sirius. He pulled his brothers cold lifeless body into his arms and began crying.

Creature felt the magic of the tapestry shift. He walked out to see that there was a death date for the mistress's elder son. "Mistress will not be please. Must wake her. Tell her what Creature has seen." He popped off to wake her and show her the new changes. She would want to know immediately.

Algie Longbottom stood and looked over the wreckage that was Godric's Hollow. The dead and wounded were everywhere. Magical Britain would be hurt by the loss of so many witches and wizards. He saw several cloaked and masked people, their left arm burnt to the bone. 'At least we won't be caught up in multiple trials for the next several months.' It was the only silver lining that he could think of. 'The rest of Wizarding Britain will celebrate this, never knowing the cost of it all.' His thoughts sobered as he walked on looking at body after body.
He wandered the battlefield looking for Order members and came across a recognizable fall of black hair. His nephew still drew breath, but his eyes were wild. "Frank, Frank? Can you hear me?" Frank began seizing. Algie's shoulders slumped he knew the signs of the cruciatus. He prayed that his sisters only child would not be lost to curse induced madness that came with severe damage. "Saint Mungos." His voice broke, "I need a Healer. Cruciatus curse victim." He sent his frog patronus flying hoping that someone would get to them soon. "Hold on boy, help is coming."

Poppy was woken by several different patroni. They all seemed to say the same thing, help was needed at Godric's Hollow. "Shite,"she went and roused several of her staff and apprentices. "Meggie," Poppy called.
The house elf popped in. "How can Meggie helps mistress healer?"
"Meggie, I need you to wake Minerva, and the headmaster if he is here."
"Headmasters is not in castle."
"That's what I thought. Meggie, get Minerva, and bring her to me. This is likely time sensitive, so do not let her walk through the castle."
"Yes, Mistress healer, Meggie gets the cat lady for you." The elf popped away on her mission.
The hospital staff stepped out of their various private rooms. Most were wide awake, but a few would need pepper up potions before long. "People. We will have incoming wounded. Junior healers will assist senior staff. Mungo's will want to set up a triage, but I am expecting that there will be several people to be transferred to us."
Meggie popped back in holding Minerva's hand. "Min, I've gotten multiple patroni all saying there has been a battle. They say it is you know who. The headmaster is not here."
"I will give you three guesses where he is and of course the first two do not count." Minerva shook her head. "I will rouse the staff," her lyrical brogue became thicker with worry. She felt a tingle from the wards. "There is someone at the gate. Poppy, you go and take care of what you need, I will see what is going on."
Poppy nodded, and then turned to her staff. "This is what we train for people." She grabbed a pinch of floo powder, "Saint Mungo's," and stepped into the flames.

Remus Lupin came to his feet. During the battle, he had been fighting with Greyback. Thankfully he was the only werewolf that Voldemort had brought with him. He was bleeding from multiple wounds that would ultimately scar. The battle between them had been bloody, with Remus coming out the victor. He hadn't been sure if there were people here that had been bitten before he arrived, but at last the feral man couldn't hurt anymore innocent victims.
He took in the carnage surrounding him. There was a good chunk of property damage that they had caused in the attempt to dominate the other. More importantly though, were the people that had kept their distance. Many of his fellow Order members would never live to see the sunrise. He needed to find his friends.
He ran towards the house that Lily and James had been in. He stopped halfway to it and saw the damage it had taken. Hagrid was just bringing out a body before the whole of the building collapsed in on itself. 'That cannot be good.' He took several steps forward. Planning on getting the rest of the way to the home when he heard it. A low wailing sound from nearby. He turned and looked seeing Regulus Black holding someone. They were on the ground, not thirty meters away. Hagrid and the house could wait.
"Regulus?" Remus walked up on the younger of the two Black brothers. "Regi are you," he drew in a shuddering breath. The smell hit him, blood, and more than what should have been spilled by a single person. It drew him up short, the wolf scented the blood and his stomach dropped. His mind allowed him to see the people in front of him. Peter was dead, covered in a thick layer of ice. Regulus was holding his brother in his lap. "No, NO. Sirius? Peter? Regi, what happened?" He fell to his knees next to the younger man. Blood from the ground soaking into his jeans.
Regulus turned cold dead eyes towards his brother's best mate. "Pettigrew sold them out. He, he was their friend, and he betrayed them. Siri wanted to kill him, but Peter got to him first. I, I couldn't let him die in vain." Regulus looked at the werewolf. His face had been covered in his brothers' blood, tear tracks cleaning only small portions. "He, he's dead right Remus? Pettigrew is dead?"
He nodded before realizing that Regulus couldn't see him clearly. "Well, yes, he is still frozen solid, so I would say so. Are you alright?" He moved to hold the Slytherin who had been like a little brother.
Regulus shook his head no.

There were multiple pops of apparition. Healers in their green robes scattered, and began helping the wounded. Poppy and the head healer of spell damage from Mungo's surveyed the area. "Right," Poppy tugged at her apron, and transfigured her cloths into the same robes that the rest of the St. Mungo's healers wore. "I'll get a triage going and send the ones who are minorly injured back to Hogwarts if I can. I can call some elves to help gather the dead."
"Thank you, Poppy, just call a member of my team when you find someone who is either a red or orange."
Poppy nodded, and the elder healer took off into the field, passing by several that were no longer in need of his skills. "Meggie, Pip, DeDe, Pulsiver." The Hogwarts elves popped in at her command. "Gather the dead please. We need to see how many we will need to help." The four elves nodded and set to their task while Poppy took off into the field.

Andromeda Tonks had been called in by Saint Mungo's. She was not supposed to start her shift for a few more hours. After flooing to the hospital, she had been told that she was needed at Godric's Hollow, the sight of a major catastrophe. She quickly flooed back home, and woke her husband, Ted by throwing his own set of healer robes at him.
~ooOoo~
He was still in his pajamas when they got there. Andy had needed to side along apparate him. They landed yards from Abraxas, and her sister Bellatrix. "Ted, check Bella and the Lestrange brothers, they don't seem to be moving. I'll get going on Abraxas." Ted nodded at his wife and moved away to check on them. "Brax?" Andy called.
The elder Malfoy raised his head and looked at her. "Lu is in a tree near the graveyard. Make sure someone gets to him." He started to collapse back to the ground. Blood poured from his left arm. A vile black substance pooled within, leaving a darker stain on the ground.
"No, you don't get to die on my watch." She looked over her shoulder at her husband, "Ted?"
"They're dead Andy, I'm sorry."
"Don't worry about them then." She spoke with a healer's detachment. She could cry over this when she was back home. "Luci is in a tree somewhere over there. Go find him, Cissy will never forgive me if something happened to him."
Ted nodded, straightened his healer robes, and ran off in the direction that she had pointed.
"Now," she huffed and began singing her healing spells. Her voice joined the tens of others that had begun their own spells. Abraxas's arm began to heal under her care. She forced a blood replenisher down his throat, and she did not stop her singing. Then she heard her husband's voice join in the choir with hers.

"Regi? Come on stay with me." Regulus' arm opened and began bleeding freely. The remnants of the dark mark flowing out with his blood.
"It seems he meant to take us all with him." Regulus began to pass out, "at least I can be with Siri."
"Lupin, Reg?" Snape stumbled as he ran to the two men. He carried a crying baby in his arms. Blood dripped from his sleeve. "Lupin, take him, take the baby. I can," he gasped for breath, "I can heal Reg."
"Don't be stupid Severus, you need a healer as well." The overwhelming scent of blood was making Moony rise to the surface again. Thankfully the new moon had just been days ago. Since tearing Fenrir Greyback limb from bloody limb, the beast within had become sluggish and controllable.
Lupin took the baby from Severus' arms and began examining the child. "This isn't Harry, but he has the same eyes as Lily."
"I know," he paused in his casting as Regulus' wounds closed. "Hagrid thought it was Siri's. I don't know who the child is, though I have a theory. Which we will be keeping to ourselves." Regulus started to stir and Severus bit off his next comments. "Reg, drink, this," his voice was choppy, his own blood loss was catching up to him. He held out several potions and set similar ones off to the side for his own consumption. "Lupin, take both boys back to Malfoy Manor." He tossed back the potions and grimaced at the taste of them.
Remus nodded at what was not being said. He knew that when it was safe, he and Severus would talk about it. "Sev, you need to come with. You are in no such state to stay."
"I have potions on me. The healers will need them. Our friends will need them. Merlin, you need them, but you have at least something going for you in the healing department, so I am not going to waste them on you." Severus chuckled giving a wry smile to the sandy haired man. He stood and stumbled off in the direction of the healers.
"That man is going to kill himself one of these days." Remus looked back down at Regulus, and the boy in his arms. "I hope you know what you are doing Sev."
Regulus stirred, "Remus, what, what happened."
"You blacked out. I'm going to get you back to the Manor, but here. Sev brought this little guy to you. It, he," he stumbled over his words. "He'syourbrothers' ."
"I'm sorry what?" Regulus took the boy from Remus's arms and held onto the baby carefully.
"He's your brothers' son and heir," he took a calming breath trying to get his words out slower. "Severus found him inside with Harry."
"Huh, that would be just like Siri, have a kid and not tell anyone. Do you know his name?"
"No, I am afraid I don't Dumbledore has had me off recruiting other likeminded Were's on the weekends, haven't had much time for visitors." He barked out a laugh.
Twin pops of apparition startled them. Two Hogwarts elves stood before them. "We's sorry to interrupts we's here to get those who aren't waking." The elder elf pointed to Sirius, and Peter.
Both men understood, and Regulus let go of his brother for the final time. "Come on, let's get you back to the manor."

"Per'fesser Dumbledore sir," Hagrid found the headmaster. He was over by the house the Longbottom's had been staying in. "I've got Harry fer ya. Lily an James didn't make it though. I don think Sirius made it either. The area away from the back o'the house collapsed in firs."
"That is truly a shame to hear Hagrid. They were some of my best students. Ah well, at least little Harry is alive and seems healthy." He looked at the baby in Hagrid's arms. He was dwarfed by the size of the man. "Hagrid, with both his mother and father gone, there is very little family left to take care of him now."
"Well, you sir, could adopt him, what with the new blood adoption laws n' such."
"No, I am afraid not, I will have little if any time to raise a baby. He is best off with his aunt, and her family. Besides Hagrid, they are the only family he has left now. I will go start making the arrangements, please meet me in Surry on Private Drive. By morning I expect that he will be quite famous. There won't be a witch or wizard in our world that will not know his name. So it will be better that he grows up far away from that."
"If thas wha you think is right sir. I will be there by mornin." Hagrid teared up and went to find Sirius's motorbike for the trip.
