"Grace," Thalia answered as she placed her phone to her ear. Her eyes focused on the computer in front of her. She couldn't decide what she wanted to order for lunch. Pizza sounded really good, but if she got something like that, the rest of the hunters would expect her to buy for them. She would probably just get something small for her and Zoë.
"Thalia," a voice answered. Thalia tensed as she recognized the voice of Hylla. What the hell was that Exterminata bitch doing calling her again? Thalia let her off with a warning, but she would not be so merciful the next time. "I need your help.
"You need my help?" Thalia demanded, and she barked out a laugh. "Why the fuck would I help you?"
"It's a long story-"
"Then I don't have time," Thalia interrupted as she started to move the phone away.
"Reyna is in trouble."
Thalia froze. She had mixed feelings on the werewolf, with the whole murder thing and all that. But, Jason was friends with her. The rest of the bar seemed to like her. Thalia tapped her fingers against the keyboard and spoke, "What happened?"
"Exterminata tried to dissect Reyna," Hylla answered. Thalia closed her eyes. She had seen the aftermath of a dissection, and it wasn't pretty. She just remembered the walls being covered in blood and a lifeless body drained of its blood and guts. Their organs have been harvested and hung up on the walls like some kind of fucked up home furnishing.
"Is she okay?" Thalia asked as she stood from her computer and grabbed her keys.
"Mostly. She needs an ambulance," Hylla replied. Thalia heard a voice in the background that sounded like it was protesting. "Shh. I can't stop the bleeding in your side. If we don't get you to the hospital, you're going to bleed out."
"Can't you drive her?" Thalia asked. She stopped by Zoë. Her partner was in the middle of conversing with Phoebe about some kind of case. Zoë looked at her, and Thalia motioned that they needed to go. She turned and walked away. Her partner followed a moment later.
"No. Exterminata fucked up my leg," Hylla said.
"Or did you sister fuck it up when you were trying to help them dissect her?"
"No," Hylla sighed. She let out a curse. "Can you please just get here now, and I will explain it on the way."
"Just call an ambulance. We'll meet you at the hospital," Thalia said as they made it outside. She got in her car and put the phone on speaker.
"I can't have the police captain knowing. He's in Exterminata's pocket," Hylla explained. "I have no doubt that he is the reason they found Reyna and I. If I call, they will know what happened. He might get the fuck out of dodge or send a team to finish the job."
"Fuck. Alright. I'll call an ambulance. You're at Reyna's place?" Thalia asked. Hylla gave her an affirmation before whispering something in Spanish. "Don't fuck us on this. Or you'll regret it."
Thalia hung up and glanced at her partner, "Hylla says that Exterminata tried to dissect Reyna, and Reyna's not in a good shape. Can you call an ambulance but keep it lowkey. It sounds like Captain Fat Fuck is sucking Exterminata's co-"
"You need to work on not being so vulgar," Zoë interrupted with a scolding. She ignored Thalia's impatient glare and grabbed her phone. "What is her address?"
Thalia told her and focused on the road. They made it to Reyna's apartment complex before the ambulance did. Thalia got out of the car and rested her hand near her gun. She looked at Zoë, "Can you wait for the- there they are."
Zoë turned her head and nodded as an ambulance rounded the corner. It pulled to a stop near them, and a paramedic hopped out. Thalia nodded towards him, "Hey, Lee."
"Thalia," Lee greeted. His scrunched up face looked her up and down, and he looked perpetually angry. Lee shouldered his bag, and Thalia led him inside. The two of them jogged up the stairs and towards Reyna's apartment. She walked towards it and placed a hand to the door handle.
Thalia turned and slowly stepped inside. She could smell the iron just from the entrance. Thalia held a hand up and slowly spoke, "Hylla."
"Bedroom," Hylla said after a moment. Thalia walked towards the bedroom and kept her hand to her gun. Upon stepping inside, she stared at the two bodies on the ground. Her gaze slowly moved upwards to the bed, where Hylla was cradling Reyna.
Hylla looked different than the last time they had seen each other. For one, her leg was in what looked like a cast. There was a new scar or two on her face. Maybe even another one on her arm. Along with a nasty healing scar on her head.
Hylla had both of her hands pressing a towel to Reyna's side. A blanket was carefully wrapped around Reyna, and it looked like she was naked. Thalia swallowed painfully at the scene as she saw the blood trickling from Reyna's face.
"What the fuck happened here?" Thalia demanded.
"Interrogation after I help," Lee interrupted as he moved to Reyna's side. Hylla slowly lifted her hand from the towel.
"They were trying to dissect her," Hylla began. "They used blood thinners to keep her bleeding."
"Sounds like Exterminata," Lee commented. His partner walked up behind him, and the two started to work on Reyna's side. Hylla carefully extracted herself from Reyna and tried to stand. She carefully leaned on the bed and hung her head.
"Hylla, we are going to have to ask you questions," Zoë informed. "Especially with two bodies here. How did you know they were doing this to your sister?"
"We need to get her to a hospital," Lee added as he looked at them. He helped his partner lay Reyna on the gurney, ignoring the werewolf's weak protests.
"I have to go with," Hylla began.
"You need to answer our questions," Thalia argued as she moved closer to Hylla. "Really, we should arrest you."
Hylla slowly looked at Thalia. She then looked down and spoke, "I haven't been a sister to Reyna, but I want to be. I want to be there for my baby sister. You can't arrest me."
"You killed two people," Thalia retorted. "I literally cannot think of a better reason to arrest you."
"Because I have all kinds of information on Exterminata. Their bases, members, numbers, and anything else you could want. My own father led them for a time. But, I want full immunity," Hylla tacked on at the end of her short rant. Thalia barely bit back her curse. "Full immunity from what happened here today and any of the crimes I have committed in the past."
"Oh you're for sure fucking around," Thalia spat with a shake of her head. She looked at her partner. Zoë crossed her arms and seemed to be thinking. "Fuck off. Don't tell me you're considering this."
"If we give you this immunity, what will you do with it?" Zoë questioned. "You'll give us all the information we want, but what happens after that?"
"I try to repair my relationship with my sister. From there..." Hylla trailed off and looked away.
"Exterminata will try to come after you," Zoë stated. "That will put Reyna at risk. Unless you are willing to work with us completely and utterly. No hiding anything. If we offer you immunity, you come to work with us."
"Woah. What the fuck are you talking about?" Thalia demanded as she turned towards her partner. "She kills and hunts creatures."
"Which means that she knows all about Exterminata's tactics and can help us update our own techniques. Minus the more violent ones," Zoë stated. Thalia just stared in silence at her partner. Hylla looked at them and then turned her head out of the room.
"As long as I'm able to see my sister," Hylla said after a moment.
"We'll have to talk to our boss," Zoë said. "I assume that she will want all of the information you have. First, tell us who these two were. Then, we will take you to visit your sister in the hospital. We will have to keep an eye on you at all times."
"That's my partner," Hylla revealed as she motioned towards the woman with auburn hair. It sounded like the word partner was a loaded one. Hylla motioned towards the other woman. "And, that is Otrera. Leader, well former now, of Exterminata."
"Holy fuck," Thalia exhaled her thought. She was still going to have a very long talk with Zoë, but she needed to get information now. "Who is the leader now that she is dead?"
"I'm not certain," Hylla admitted. "She had a hierarchy set up, but there had been warring, minor factions that all vie for her power but were too scared to turn against her. Now, they will probably have a fight over who takes her place, making them vulnerable to make a move."
"And you just happen to know all of them," Thalia assumed.
"I was one of Otrera's top lieutenants. Until I didn't kill my sister," Hylla explained. "Those small groups were always trying to pull me in."
"It seems we have a lot to discuss," Zoë rubbed the bridge of her nose. Thalia scowled as she realized that Zoë was totally pulling the seniority card. "But, let us go to the hospital first. I'll take you. Thalia, can you handle calling the boss?"
