To answer a guest's review, I'm perfectly fine. I just ran out of pre-written chapters and haven't had a chance to write anymore. I hope everyone enjoys the new chapter.
"Shit," Reyna hissed as she slowly pulled on her jacket. Her side protested in pain, and she carefully zipped her jacket up. It felt great to be back in her normal clothes, and she was more than happy to be getting out of the hospital. It was just the other news that she wasn't taking too well.
"I don't see why I have to move," Reyna began as she looked at Thalia. The hunter did not look too amused at her complaint. Thalia's badge was hanging around her neck, and there was a scowl etched on her face. Reyna shifted uncomfortably and looked away.
"It's for your own safety," Zoë said gently. "Exterminata knows where you live, and when their leader doesn't report back in, they may send another team."
"Not to mention we have to set up surveillance at your place," Thalia muttered. "We already packed your things, so there's no point in arguing."
"That's an invasion of privacy," Reyna argued. She didn't think that she had anything incriminating in her house. Anything she used to scout out Ma Gasket and her boys were long gone. Though, she did have a few knives and also one or two of Hylla's guns.
"It is," Zoë agreed. "I'm sorry, but we had to do it."
"Everything will be at your new place for you," Thalia added. She looked at Reyna, and the expression on her face softened. "I promise that we didn't take anything. The two of us packed it personally."
"Your new place is in a safe neighborhood, and the rent is covered for six months," Zoë added. Reyna crossed her arms and remained silent. "Jason does not live too far either."
Reyna sighed and moved her hand to her face to gently brush her thumb against the stitches. She looked down, "Is there surveillance then?"
"On the outside only," Zoë explained. "It will stay up for a few months or until we have most of Exterminata arrested."
"Speaking of that, you're coming with us," Thalia declared as she turned towards Hylla. "You promised us information, and we let you have plenty of time in the hospital with your sister. It's time to hold up your end of the bargain."
Reyna tried to hide her glare as she looked away. A knock on the door caused her eyes to flicker up, and she saw Jason standing there. He smiled at Reyna, and she managed a half smile, "Are we ready to go?"
"I want to go with my sister," Reyna began as she looked at Thalia.
"No can do," Thalia declined.
"We have to talk to Hylla alone," Zoë informed. Reyna felt herself tensing. "I promise she will be fine, Reyna. Our boss wants Hylla to have no distractions, and there is a lot of information to cover."
"Reyna, I'll be fine," Hylla promised as she slowly stood and used the crutches to hobble to Reyna. She pulled her into a gentle hug. "I'll bring you home some food, okay?"
"Alright," Reyna whispered. She hugged her sister back the best she could and then pulled away. Her gaze moved to Thalia and Zoë. "If anything happens to her..."
"We're just sharing information," Hylla explained. She smirked and pulled away from Reyna. "Nothing is going to happen to me. Full immunity, remember?"
Thalia glared, and Reyna challenged it with her own. Zoë cleared her throat, "Yes, you do have full immunity as long as you fulfill your end of the deal."
"And I will," Hylla promised. She looked at Reyna. "No lifting or putting anything away."
"Clarisse and Piper are already moving things for you," Jason chimed in. Reyna sighed. "I know you hate being helped-"
"I do."
"-but we are your friends and want to help," Jason continued. Reyna knew she wasn't going to have a chance to argue, so she just shrugged and glanced at Hylla.
"Bring a lot of food," Reyna ordered as she reached for her wallet.
"We'll cover it," Zoë offered. Reyna glanced at her and nodded.
"Are you sure?" Hylla asked. "Reyna can eat the whole menu."
"Shut up," Reyna scowled. She glared at her sister, and Hylla just grinned. Reyna looked at Jason. "Are we ready to go?"
"If you are," Jason replied. Reyna nodded and looked at her sister again, giving her a nod. If her sister wasn't at their new place by dinner time, Reyna would find her. Hylla returned the gesture, and Reyna followed Jason.
The two quietly walked down the hallway of the hospital. Reyna kept one hand shoved into her pocket. Her other hand rested against her side near where the stitches were. She wasn't supposed to do any physical activity or heavy lifting for the next two weeks.
But Chiron said she could work. As a bartender. Which was great.
As they made it outside, Reyna pulled her jacket closer to herself. She followed Jason to his car and spoke, "Sorry if I made things awkward with you and Piper."
"We talked things out," Jason said after a moment.
"And about your car," Reyna continued. Jason shook his head. "I can pay to have it washed."
"I already washed it like ten times," Jason dismissed. Reyna couldn't tell if he was joking or not. "Do you want me to get you food on the way home? My treat."
"If you want," Reyna replied. She didn't feel like allowing her pride to take over, and she would be a fool to turn down free food. As they got to the car, Reyna slowly sat inside. A pained groan escaped her.
"Fuck," Reyna muttered under her breath as she slowly put on her seatbelt and tried to find a position that felt comfortable. Her mind was racing too much to allow her to relax. The whole moving thing made sense, but it didn't sit right with her. She was just getting comfortable with having her own place and had actually said a few sentences to one of her neighbors. Now, she had to start over again.
And, Reyna didn't exactly trust these hunters. She couldn't protest to them or Hylla especially if it meant they would try to hurt her sister. Or go back on their word that she would be safe. Reyna shifted as her agitation started to take over again.
Reyna wasn't dumb. She knew that Hylla had done a lot of terrible things for Exterminata. There was no counting how many creatures she killed and tortured for her job. And who knew how many other crimes she had committed? The laundry list was a mile long, and Reyna was skeptical that giving out information about Exterminata would wipe all that away.
"Clarisse helped them with packing," Jason commented as he sat in his car and started the engine. "She ensured no one touched your clothes or messed with anything too much. I also heard her threatening Thalia if everything didn't make its way back to your place."
"Clarisse is a great friend," Reyna whispered. She looked at Jason and smiled slightly. "You are too. Thanks for the ride."
"Anytime," Jason replied. He studied her for a few moments. Reyna met his gaze. Jason just stared at her and didn't say a word. They had pulled out of the parking space but weren't leaving the lot yet.
"Jason?" Reyna questioned. He blinked and seemed to snap out of his thoughts. "You okay?"
"Yeah. I was just wondering," Jason began. He studied her and then shook his head. "Nevermind."
"Nevermind?" Reyna repeated. "You sure?"
"Yeah. Just lost in my thoughts today," Jason said. He started to drive but glanced back at her. "Where do you want to eat?"
