Luz was still in a slight state of grief she had carried her mentor's body outside and burned it in a small bonfire. The next few days the trio had stuffed mostly nuts and crackers into the sack as they slowly walked back to the owl house as Luz had watched the dead walk around the small area, it was mostly just three or five on the place to which Luz had more than enough knowledge from watching horror films at home that the simplest noise would draw them and her crying and screaming from the other day was what caused such a small number of them to show up.
Another thing was that flesh wasn't the only thing they ate as they also had a taste for palismans after her encounter with Eda. "Owlbert just stay close to me alright little buddy?" The owl rubbed its head near her as Luz patted his head. "Hey if you want to talk about..."
"I'm fine King." Luz said sternly which worried him "You don't..." "I'M FINE!" Luz shouted as an undead walked towards her.

Luz then swung the staff at its feet knocking it down before jamming the bottom part into its head. "OK let's keep the voice down a little till we get back home." King nodded as they found both Hooty and the house still intact. "Oh boy, it was gett..." "SHUT UP!" Luz shouted at the door
"No need to be rude." Luz simply slammed the door open before slamming it shut, tossed the sack on the table, and stomped upstairs as King and Hooty then heard the sound of tears and crying coming from her room as they decided it would be best to simply let her be.
"Your the best thing to ever happen to me, your the best thing to ever happen to me, your..." Luz simply screamed before tossing her phone aside as it cracked as she picked it up only to find it broken. "Damn it!" She screamed before putting her head into a pillow which soaked her tears for an hour straight as she eventually came downstairs and started eating a few crackers with melted ice cubes all while ignoring King.
"It's been three days can't you..." "What get over it!?, what do you think I've been doing!?" Luz said to King.
"You need..." "Need what king? Help? A hug? Cuddles?! Like that'll make things better!" Luz shouted at him.
"Someone to talk to," King said calmly. "Well, there's no one left to talk to besides you." "What about your friends?"
Luz then stopped, she had been thinking about Eda for a long time that she had forgotten that she had other people. "Willow, Gus, Amity..." Luz then grabbed the staff and was about to open the door when King then jumped on her face.
"What are you doing?" "You are not going out there," King told her as Luz struggled to get the furry demon off her.
"They're my friends!" "Yeah but where?" "Why does that matter?"
"You could run into a crowd of those things!" King told her as Luz then looked at the staff and realized that it would take more than that to get past something like that as she started opening drawers and dumping its contents on the table. "No, too short, too heavy! too... shiny?" Luz then pulled out a sparkling pen before looking at King. "What? it was just lying around." "Nevermind."
Luz then pulled out a sharp dagger before tapping it to the staff making a spear. "Perfect!, next step... body protection..." "And how are you going to do that?" King asked her as Luz stopped.
"I don't know, next step then is securing the place you are staying in." "We already just did," King told her.
"Yeah but always got to be careful of windows, everyone knows not to be near a window in when you're in a horror genre," Luz said as King wondered why they let Luz stay with them in the first place.
Luz then started breaking furniture and making them into makeshift spikes which she drove into the ground around the house. "Ok, that should be good for now."
"And why aren't we using the beartraps?" King asked as Luz responded. "Last time you could just step on them and they wouldn't even close so this is what we're doing." "True."
When night fell they all sat down next to the fireplace as King asked Luz. "Do you worry about them?" "No... ok, maybe a little." King then starred at her "Really?"
"I just want to go out there and make sure they're safe." "Please Amity practically lives in a fortress," King said to her.
"You think she's the first person I'd think about?" "Hey you two are together and soap operas tell me that lovers care for each other first and always." Luz was quickly blushing a bit at that point.
"Your just mad that you can't watch said soap operas anymore my Mami was more of a national geographic type of person." "National what?" King asked her.
"You wouldn't understand."Luz then got out a spare crystal ball and placed it on the floor as nothing but static showed. "Is there like a podcast or radio setting on this thing?" "Why?" "If Tv is dead then talking from a station is the next best thing," Luz told him. "Why listen instead of..."
King was then interrupted by the sound of banging on the door as Luz figured Hooty had fallen asleep as she grabbed the spear and looked outside the windows but it was too dark to see. "Maybe it'll just go..." Soon the doorknob was being shaken as the banging got louder.
"I thought you said they can't open doors?!" "I know that for a fact!" Luz then backed away her spear ready at hand as the door burst as Luz swung at whatever came as the spear then struck something as Luz was kicked and knocked to the floor as the tip of a sword pointed at her neck as the light made the figure clear as day as Luz recognized it as... "Lilith?!" "Luz?"
To say Lilith had it better than Eda was an understatement as her hair was a mess, she smelled like a sewer, her eyes were weary from lack of sleep, and to top it all off she was missing two fingers and part of her hand on one side which was poorly wrapped with bandages while dressed in her old robes. "What happened to..." "That doesn't matter now can you Edalyn that she has company."
Luz was about to speak when Hooty woke up and quickly wrapped himself around Lilith. "Lulu!" "ACK!, Hoocifer stop can't breathe..."
Hooty then stopped as Lilith gasped for air as she laid down on the couch before standing up. "Oh almost forgot." She then stepped outside and spoke, "It's alright the house is secure!" "Lilith who are you..." \
Soon two more familiar faces came out from a tree that with it being Mort the potion seller and Gwendolyn the Clawthorne sister's mother as they hadn't slept in days before stepping inside and laying on the couch as King rested on the floor.
"Lilith you smell like..." "Sewage? try sleeping next to it for 24 hours," Mort told Luz as Lilith then excused herself as the sound of running water came from the bathroom and she later came out with a towel in her hair.
"Well, the water is working but cold showers are the only things so far." "As long as we have a fire we can warm it." Gwen said as she looked around and asked Luz "Where's Edayln?"
"She... she went to get stuff and... when I found her... she was..." Luz tried to keep a straight face but a single tear from her eye told them everything as Luz then simply ran and hugged the Clawthone women as they comforted each other while Mort simply kept his head down.
The next day was silent as a makeshift grave was made as most of Eda's personal belongings were buried in her place minus her nest which they left untouched in her room locking it. Mort and Hooty had carved a simple inscription on a rock while Gwen, Lilith, King, and Luz gave their own eulogy before tapping photos from Eda's scrapbook on the rock as Lilith then told Luz
"I know it might seem like a bad time but..., Glyphs are useful for you now but to tell you the truth I think the isles is dying..." "What?" Luz asked in shock.
"I don't know how but it's like magic is fading away with the isles." "But your bile sack..."
"When it was starting they broke in mother made a protection barrier but it broke like glass when they started hitting it and then well."
Lilith then showed her bandaged hand. "I thought I was done for but I figured maybe if I could stop the spread..." "You did that to yourself!?" Luz said with worry.
"I passed out just seeing it, Mort found and helped us, father... couldn't go with it said to take off each other we left him home and... that was the last I saw of him."
Luz then lowered her head "I'm sorry..." "It took mother a day to get over it, with the three of us hiding under the sewage system for a while till we figured that the house was the best place to be at but for how long," Lilith said with concern.
"As long as we keep watch we'll be fine," Luz told her as Lilith smiled a bit before holding her head as she collapsed before lifting up a bit as she screamed.
"Lilith! what's..." Lilith then simply grabbed Luz by her shirt and simply said "Elixir... now..."
Luz then quickly rushed back into the house and opened a chest tossing out empty bottles before finding a half bottle of Elixir as Lilith quickly chugged it but saw that her right eye was pure dark black as feathers sprouted on her hands. "I need more..." Luz and the rest then turned the place upside down but found nothing except a small drop.
"There's nothing left." "Can't we just make more?" Luz asked as Gwen replied, "Yes but there's nothing here to match the recipe." Soon everyone was staring at Mort.
"What? oh no no no..." he then raised his hands up.
"Hey, you're with us so unless you want to be on your own." "You expect me to just go out there and get everything?" Mort asked them as Gwen then said "We're going with you."
Lilith spoke weakly "No mother Luz and I can..." Lilith then collapsed as she struggled to stand up while Luz placed a sleeping bag next to her. "You're getting worse and you're in no shape to go outside so just rest Hooty and King will take care of you."
Lilith wanted to protest but then found herself snuggling inside the warm bag instead as King sat next to her while the three then stepped out of the house and walked back to the town.
