"How bad is it?" Elizabeth asked as Lilith was placing a cold wet towel on her head. "Just wait for Stevan and he'll tell you."
"Remember when you won the best athlete for the yearbook?" Lilith chuckled. "I'm sure Edalyn would have won if it weren't for her cheating box." "Ah good old class clown Eda."
Elizabeth then coughed a bit as Lilith gave her another potion mixed with flowers and herbs. "At least the boils are still intact." "Can't tell if you're cuter with or without glasses."
The pink-skinned witch told her as Lilith turned around. "What do you think?" She then took off her old glasses and looked at Elizbeth. "Yeah, your better without them."
Lilith then left the room as she sighed and walked back to the teacher's lounge to find Mort writing potion effects on a blackboard while Gwen was asleep. "Has anyone seen Stevan?" "Cafeteria," Mort told her as Lilith then went there and found him simply smoking a cigarette. "What are you doing?" "Using my last box, want one." He asked as Lilith then slapped the box out of his hands and crushed it underneath her feet. "What in the blazes!?" "What kind of healthcare person are you!"
"Relax they're fine it's being taken care of by... oh shi.." Lilith then grabbed him by his shirt collar. "What are you talking about?"
A healing track student walked into the healing room with a few potions in a cart as she held her nose due to the horrid smell of boils. "The sooner these meds are used the better." She thought to herself as she opened a curtain and began inserting the potions into each patient's IV drip as she noted blood on one of the sheets as she pulled it to see one of the patients standing up. "Hey, you need to get back in bed before you..." She then stopped as she smelled him the stench of a fresh corpse as they turned around to show them bleeding from the neck as their eyes were pale white. "How can this..." The student didn't finish as the revenant then grabbed and bit into her neck as she screamed before choking on her own blood.
"Did you hear that?" Viney asked Barkus who simply barked in response as they heard coughing from one of the students on night watch. "Hey, you alright?" Viney asked then as the student then collapsed as she quickly checked their pulse as blood came out of their mouth. "Barkus cover your face, this is getting serious," Viney told her canine friend as she masked her face with her uniform as she lifted the student up passing by other students who were either holding their head or coughing as she reached the teacher's lounge. "We need help and lots of medicine!"
"Tell me!" Lilith shouted at Stephan as he then smacked her with a tray as he tried to leave as Lilith tackled him and held her sword to his neck.
"What did you do!?" "Headmaster said that they were too far gone and if they were gone then the infection would spread less if the sick were... gone," Stevan said in fear as Lilith then pulled him up. "You're helping us fix this mess or it's your head!" "Yes ma'am."
Mort was giving the students in the hallway potions while Gwen made more with Barkus as Viney opened the door to the healing room only to find it full of blood and revenants as the entire room had turned as Viney quickly held the door shut as they started pushing their way out while Lilith walked the hallway holding Stevan by his shirt. "Where are they?" "Gym locked most of them inside as a way to stop the spread but one cough simply caused most of this," Stevan said as Lilith began to pull down the boards holding the door as Stevan opened the lock.
Lilith then saw nothing but several torn sleeping bags, knocked over IVs, and revenants which made up half the school population.
"What happ..." Lilith was cut short as she felt a sharp pain in her arm as Stevan held a needle in his hand. "Don't worry soon your body will be numb you won't feel anything, can't let the truth out."
Stevan then shoved her inside the gym as he whistled attracting the revenants' attention. "You bastard!" Lilith shouted at him as he quickly shut the doors in front of her and locked it as Lilith screamed as blood splattered the windows.
"Shit, shit, shit!" Viney swore as she struggled to keep the door shut as Gwen then arrived and helped. "What happened?" She asked the young teen. "I don't know they were still breathing and bite-free last time I saw them."
"Mort check on Elizabeth now!" Gwen told him as he limped to her room and found her coughing and gasping for air while Viney quickly ran to a window and blew on a large blowhorn which alerted the students of a lockdown as they quickly shut the doors of the rooms they were in.
Outside the two groups finally joined back as they talked about their losses. "Shit, fuck, I said this was a bad idea!" Boscha yelled as she then kicked a rock in rage stubbing her foot a bit while the rest of the Banshees tried to calm her down as a loud horn was heard.
"What's that?" "Luz asked. "The horn... damn it!" Boscha then got back to the cart as she and Skara then rode to the front entrance as they tried to open it as Boscha banged on the door. "Let us in now!" Soon the door was opened by Jerbo who looked weary and was covered in boils and was bleeding from the mouth as he fell in Skara's arms. "No, everyone inside now!" Skara told them as they all went inside as Luz and Kathy helped Randall with his torn leg as Skara helped Jerbo as she popped open a pill bottle.
The group walked inside to see most of their fellow students laying on the walls coughing or passed out as Viney screamed as the healing room door broke and pinned her down as Gwen quickly pulled her out just as the revenants strolled out. "Oh fuck me," Amelia said as she, Bo, Cat, and Boscha quickly began fighting the former students as Gwen lead Viney away from the fight.
"Come on breath for me!" Mort yelled as Elizabeth was unresponsive as Heather ran in with the oxygen and a respirator which Mort then placed on Elizabeth's mouth as she then gasped and coughed. "Oh thank titan!" Mort cried out as Heather helped him keep her in check.
"Where's the damn doctor!?" Kathy asked as she and Luz carried Randall as they found him in the hallway. "Hey, Stevan he needs help!" Luz yelled as Stevan jumped a bit before looking at Randall before saying "Bite?" "No his leg's messed up pretty bad," Kathy told him as Stevan then opened Randall's bandages and quickly poured rubbing alcohol on it making the teen scream in pain. "He needs stitches, now does anyone have a sewing needle?"
Soon the Banshees had taken care of the revenants. "Ok now let's take them outside and burn them," Boscha said as Skara argued, "They were our classmates and I'm not burning a single one." "Me neither," Cat said as Boscha sighed. "Grab a shovel then, it's much better to put them separate than in the pit."
Soon after a bit of help, everyone was doing something different, The Banshees along with Jim were burying the dead, Mort and Heather were watching over Elizabeth, Luz, and Kathy were helping Stephan stick up Randall's leg, and Gwen was with Barkus making potions while the remaining ill slowly recovered slowly but safely as everyone was in the cafeteria as Stevan held a glass of apple blood. "Here's to the Banshees, the volunteers, and I hate to be a bother but I'm including myself into this also for cheers to all!"
The crowd cheered as the doors to the cafeteria burst open as everyone quickly turned and saw Lilith barely standing up using her sword as support as she was covered head to toe in blood. "Lilith?" Luz and Gwen questioned as Lilith slowly walked towards them pointing at Stevan. "You left me to..." Lilith then collapsed from exhaustion as Gwen lifted her daughter up as the rest of the students looked at Stephan with suspicion and concern as all he could say was "What?"
