Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Web of Anarchy. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Spider-Man, Marvel and a few others do.
"Arachny." He heard over his radio.
He flipped backwards, awkwardly landing on his heels as he did so. Another of the soldiers turned towards him, bringing up their rifle to shoot him. Zaiden flipped backwards again behind a car.
"Sorry, sir, bit busy." Arachny stated as bullets began to fly. "Capturing a camp. I have civilians, they need a ride back home." Arachny stated before he turned.
He raised his hand, a stream of silk racing out from the middle of his wrist. It rushed forward, flying over the soldier's head and into a car. Arachny sighed before he tugged backwards, sending a door flying off its hinges at them. The door smashed into one of the soldiers, planting them into the pavement.
"I'll have Tony back you up, just give me five minutes." He heard to which he sighed.
If he argued? They'd say he wasn't ready for this. He was, the resistance counted on people like him to fight for them. He wasn't going to be one of the people who constantly let the team down.
"I'll handle this, Colonel. Someone has to." Arachny stated as he turned and sighed. "There's plenty of people here who need a hero, even a rookie like me. Trust me, I've with the rebels before that spider sank it's fangs in." Arachny said before he rolled his eyes at himself.
There was only so much of his own bravado he could stomach. He knew more then anything just how much they weren't really believing him. He wasn't letting them write him off due to inexperience.
"There's plenty of bad people, son. I don't want them to get you…" He heard over the radio as he shook his head. "There's a subway station a few blocks from you, think you can lure them down there? We're load them on the train, take them to safety." He heard before leaping over the car.
His foot smashed into one of the soldiers, his fist knocked another off their feet and into a parked car.
"Yeah, I'll do what I can, sir." Arachny said before he heard the click of a rifle. "Crap." Arachny said as he turned to the final soldier.
There was a swift movement as one of the citizens lunged at him, knocking him off balance as he surged forward. There was a swift kick which knocked the soldier to the ground. He turned to look to the man who had knocked them off his feet.
"Thanks." Arachny said before he looked down at their clothing. "Your resistance, aren't you? Colonel sent me to get anyone and everyone I can." Arachny said as they nodded to him.
"Colonel wanted a spy inside enemy ranks." He heard as he nodded in return. "You got cocky, they stepped up patrols in the city." Arachny heard as he swept off the jab.
"Can those people get to the subway down below?" Arachny questioned as he raised his eyebrow. "Colonel has a plan, but their getting off the street. There's too much fighting up here to be on ground level." Arachny put in as the soldier nodded.
"I'll get them down there; you think you can pick off a few snipers?" He heard to which he blinked. "Oscorp has snipers set up, Mr. Osborn doesn't like his test subjects… You know, he's crazy. I don't know why. I don't know how he knows." He heard as he got a nod.
"We all know why." Arachny stated before he shook his head. "Go, I'll take care of the snipers, they follow? Their getting the shield. Just make sure nobody gets left behind by those guys. I don't want us all hurt." Arachny said as he turned and fired a web line.
He hummed and nodded to himself. He clicked his tongue before the web line found traction. He was yanked up and off the street. It'd be a nice trick if others could do it… But then again? They didn't have spider blood running through their body.
Arachny was sent flying by the line as he flew up and onto the rooftop. He turned towards the civilians. They'd be dead in seconds if he didn't hurry. Still? There was plenty of people counting on him. Arachny knew there was only so much that he could do to stop that.
'For every single person I save? Oscorp's captures 20 to 30 more. It's not fair, it just isn't. How do you keep doing this when everyone and their mother seems to want to stand against you?' Arachny thought before he landed on the lamppost, looking around with the eyes only an enhanced hero could hope to have.
Arachny rolled his eyes, there was plenty to see, plenty to do. If he stayed here? There'd be dozens of people that he couldn't really save.
And he'd be damned if he did that.
