Finally Us
Pro-heroes Deku, Uravity, Shouto, and Dynamight get cleared for a week-long beach vacation. Will this be enough to finally push Katsuki and Shouto to finally become an item? Or will they continue to dance around the subject for the rest of their days?
It's just fluff guys.

Start:How they managed to get a full week off, Shouto didn't know. How they all managed to get the same week off, Shouto didn't want to know. His hair flipped in the wind as Katuski's jeep turned the last corner, slowing down to not pull the attention of their temporary neighbors. Cursing followed by some giggling pulled his attention from the road.
"Oh you guys, I'm so excited! I cannot believe this is happening!" Ochako reached up to push on Shouto's shoulder, a diamond ring reflecting brightly. "I think you guys really needed a getaway."
"You too, sweetheart. On top of your agency sending you out for more promos than ever before, plus normal hero stuff," Izuku grabbed Ochako's hand, "You've also single-handedly corralled both of our moms and planned our entire wedding. A goddess is what you are."
"Oh Izuku, stop it!" Ochako's giggle was that from a romcom and Katsuki mocked it in the front seat before making some gagging sounds. Shouto knew he shouldn't have laughed at the expense of his best friends' love, but the way Katsuki twisted his face was just too funny. Turning into the driveway, Katsuki slammed on the brakes a little rougher than usual just to jolt the love birds in the back seat. Shouto couldn't cover his laugh this time while Ochako and Katsuki began a glaring contest in the rearview mirror. She eventually caved first, jumping from the jeep to explore their home for the next few days.
"Oi! Get your shit, slacker!"
"Let her go explore, Kacchan. I'll get them," Izuku laughed as the men moved to grab the luggage. Even with the slight traffic they hit, their dinner plans on the beach were still far enough out that the crew would have enough time to unpack and stretch. Although, as he looked at the mound of bags and cases, Shouto wondered if Ochako had confused their "vacation" with "moving".
"How did the luggage triple when we only added one person?" he grumbled. Bakugou snorted, beginning to pull bags out.
"Cause Deku can't figure out how to tell Miss Priss over there no."
It was Shouto's turn to snort. "That's a new one."
"Well, every time I even try to call her a…" Katsuki glanced over his shoulder before quickly whispering "bitch," and before turning back to the trunk, "She comes out of nowhere threatening to launch me into space or worse. Make me watch them having se—"
A pair of hands suddenly clasped their shoulders making Katsuki jump. "Hurry up slowpokes! Whoa there, Kacchan!" Izuku laughed. "Also, Ochako told me to tell you to sleep with one eye open. Dunno why." Katsuki took a swipe at Izuku and Shouto took a step back to avoid the chaos of the impromptu sparring session from pent-up energy being in a car for so long.
A smile tugged at Shouto's lips as he remembered a similar scene the last time they had rented this house. The trio had decided to leave their sidekick positions the same day they were opening their own agency but chose to take a vacation before the big, dramatic move. The week had mostly consisted of convincing Izuku to propose to his high school sweetheart, maxing out Endeavor's credit cards one last time, and…
"Shou, here," Katsuki interrupted Shouto's thoughts, holding out his last bag. Shouto hadn't realized the spar had ended and Izuku was already walking down the path with the couple's luggage. "Come on, I'm exhausted and need to get away from the future Mr. and Mrs. Cavities over there before I lose it."
...and toying that fine line between friendship and more with Katsuki Bakugou. In the last two years since walking this same cobbled path, Izuku and Ochako had gotten engaged while he and Katsuki had stayed in this strange void between...
Pleasant but awkward. Close but distant. Content but empty. All things to describe this… whatever they had. Shouto knew he wasn't the only one who felt like this; Katsuki mirrored his own longing in those deep rubies every time someone could see them. Even with Ochako and Izuku, their closest friends, both he and Katsuki were hesitant. Like today, only when Ochako had fallen asleep and Izuku had buried himself in electronic reports did Katsuki reach for Shouto's hand.
Thumbs played a flirty game of war over the gear shift and eyes smoldered behind shades all ending far too soon as shuffling from the back separated them to opposite sides of the car. Even now, with the soon-to-be's ahead of them, Katsuki's hand knocked against Shouto's with pinkies locking every so often.
Together. Warm.
"Kat! Shou! This place is amazing!" Ochako's voice carved a space between them as Katsuki took a wider step across the threshold of the house.
Separated. Cold.
Shouto flexed his hand and caught brown eyes watching him. Ochako mouthed "I'm so sorry" which just made the coldness turn painful. He decided to try and change the subject. "It is! Have you had a chance to see the bedrooms?"
The house itself had a smaller footprint than he would have expected with all the listed amenities. The front door opened directly into the living room with the open kitchen on the left and a marbled bar. Straight ahead was a short hallway with the master on the right and two rooms on the left. The master suite Katsuki had previously occupied had been very nice the night or two they had fallen asleep together. (Granted he woke up with Katsuki sleeping on the chaise instead of with him.) Multiple doors led out to the almost completely wrap-around deck but the living room doors were the only ones that opened to the pool, hot tub, and fire pit. The beach was just off the deck a few hundred yards.
"Speaking of," Katsuki narrowed his eyes before turning toward the hallway. "Deku, I swear to god if you even approach that master, I'll fuck your girl and steal your mom!"
Shouto barked out a laugh as Ochako grimaced, curling up along the sofa arm. "Isn't it the other way around?"
"Shut up, Two-Tone. Deku, don't ignore me!"
"Not sure what the big deal is," Ochako whined, "Shouldn't we, the only official couple, get the big bed?"
"No, my name is first on the agenc…" Katsuki sputtered to a halt. "What the fuck does that mean, Round Face?!"
Shouto sank, beside Ochako, awaiting the argument to get out of hand when a nervous-looking Izuku entered the living room. Katsuki's palms started sparking even before Izuku began speaking.
"Uh, guys? Well. Huh. I guess I've got some good news and some not as good news? I think we can consider it—"
"Short and sweet, Zuku dear. Kat might actually kill you this time."
"Both masters have been updated and look really nice. I bet the beds are super comfortable."
"Both? It's a three-bed beach house."
"Was. They did some reconstruction." Katsuki and Ochako were flying down the hallway after the first word, with Shouto left behind, rubbing his temples. "I'm sorry Shou. We can find another house. I think I saw one available on the drive in?"
"We'll be okay. Besides, at least now, when he tries to sneak out to smother you with your pillow, I can have a camera ready." Shouto sighed, passing his best friend to follow his… other friends?
"Ahaha… you would save me though… right?"
They arrived at the shell shocked Katsuki in the doorway that definitely wasn't there last time. Izuku patted Shouto's shoulder before heading into the other master across the hall.
With the click of the door signifying they were away from prying eyes, Shouto hooked his chin on one of Katsuki's tense shoulders. The shoulder relaxed underneath him but the blond kept staring inside the room. It looked exactly like the master suite behind them, but the shared wall between the two previous rooms had become the wall separating this room from the closet and bathroom. If he had to guess, the old shared bathroom at the end of the hallway was the new laundry room that had appeared on the listing.
"Well, now Uraraka and Mrs. Midoriya are saved."
Katsuki glanced over to him, lips quivering as they struggled between annoyance and humor. "I really hate you."
"I know. But hey, I can pull in the chaise if you'd rather me slee—"
Katsuki scoffed, pulling away from him causing Shouto to quietly groan. "I'm taking the right side of the room. Stop standing in the door like a dumbass. I don't want to hear a bad sex tape being made. Fucking animals."
Shouto didn't hide his laughter as he closed their door.
$%^#^%$Fuck this trip. Fuck Deku and Round Face. Fuck this house. Fuck this bed that he was sitting on while listening to the shower run. They had been here all of ten minutes before it all got fucked to hell. What kind of owners don't tell guests of a major house change? Top 20 pro heroes at that!
Katsuki rubbed his forehead again for what felt like the hundredth time since the door shut. He thought once he accepted his crush... Or longing… Or lov—liking of the two-tone, icy hot man who never left his dreams this was supposed to get easier. Or at least significantly less awkward.
But no, the moment the door shut and it was just the two of them, Katsuki had kicked the corner of the bed and fallen forward, to be caught against Shouto's chest. Specifically his collarbone, as Katsuki's opened lips full of curses connected with the soft skin. Which in turn caused Shouto to fall, pulling Katsuki with him. Only after the chaos settled did either realize they were alone, in their shared room, tangled in one another, gravity pulling them to each other... Shouto cleared his throat with a shaky, "Gonna shower. Sorry."
Which left Katsuki, alone and horny, contemplating this fucking trip at the foot of the bed. Their shared bed. Fuck this trip.
Katsuki lifted his head from the cradle of his hands at the sound of the bathroom door opening. "Sorry, forgot my stuff," Shouto muttered, moving about the room as Katsuki's eyes followed him, specifically the water droplets dripping from the white and red locks over the divots of muscles. He looked away when he felt himself lick his lips as the water mixed with the faint brush of hair above the towel at Shouto's hips.
The towel that was held unceremoniously by one hand threatening to open with every move. It's not like Katsuki didn't know what was under the cloth— a few months back, both tipsy at Kirishima's engagement party, they had ended up with Katsuki's mouth drawing out every drop, and in turn sounds from Shouto's mouth, from him.
But the fact that they have been trading favors— or whatever the hell you call them— without making any progress past that point in two years caused a reedy whine to creep up Katsuki's throat when Shouto's towel failed to keep up as the man turned.
"Are you okay?"
Fuck these tiny ass towels. Fuck Todoroki for not knowing how to properly wrap himself. Fuck Shouto Todoroki.
"Fucking peachy. Stop wasting time. I'm starving," Katsuki growled out, cradling his head back in his hands. "And stop fucking apologizing. You sound like a fucking child or some shit. It's weird." The shuffling stopped. Katsuki sat up, expecting the awkward Shouto hurrying out of the room, but instead found the cool collected Shouto looking behind his shoulder at Katsuki. The one that always kept Katsuki on his toes, that fueled arguments and banter, the one that Katsuki fantasized the most about.
"Forgive me for trying to be a decent human being. My bad."
"Fuck you." The air heated dramatically as the usual insult hung as a possible invitation in their shared room. Fuck this shit. "Just hurry up. I'm heading outside." Katsuki left the room to escape the two-toned eyes that only held the darkened glaze of desire.
He meant to stop at the couch in the living room to sulk the remaining time before dinner, scrolling through his phone mindlessly. But instead, he found himself by the edge of the pool being assaulted by memories. Shouto stroking him by the steps of the pool when Deku left to grab them food. Him making Shouto ice the top of the deck during a blowjob on the side of the pool. Them making out by the firepit after Deku had —
"Boo." The sudden and soft voice in his left ear spooked Katsuki. He blindly blasted under his left arm at the intruder, feeling his shock turn to irritation at Ochako dancing around the spark. "Ooh~ you must have been thinking real hard about something if I was able to scare the great Dynamight."
"You couldn't scare a fucking baby, Round Face." Ochako snorted at Katsuki's failed attempt to keep his dignity intact, leaning forward to assess her makeup in the pool's water. As she rubbed the black smudges under her eyes, he noticed the back of her hair was unusually tangled. "Oh my god. You two are disgusting"
"What?" She tilted her head in the water's reflection all innocent but he saw that glimmer in her eyes.
"Don't 'what' me. You two couldn't wait until after dinner?" he sneered, reaching over to attempt to untangle her hair. "Surprised you aren't bald by now by the way he did this." He was trying to make her embarrassed or something but no; she just laughed it off.
"Awh don't be jealous. Just because your back doesn't get broken whenever you want doesn't mean mine can't. And I plan to take full advantage of his first full week off— AHH!"
Truth be told, had he taken a moment to think about the consequences of his actions and the possibility of being late to dinner when he was already starving, he might have hesitated a moment. But his hands moved so quickly from her hair to her back pushing her directly into the pool. She floundered, sputtering, reaching for his ankle, but Katsuki took a step back putting his hands into his pockets.
"Bakugou you asshole!"
"Oh no you don't you bitch. You started this, so get yourself out." He chuckled at her drowned cat look. "At least now you can go actually fix your hair."
"What's going on?" Katsuki huffed lightly at Shouto coming out from the deck. "What did you do?" Shouto's hair was still flipped back from his shower but what caught Katsuki's attention was the half-buttoned shirt. Who starts buttoning from the bottom of the shirt?
"Shou! Oh help, help, Bakugou is being rude and pushed me in!" She swam to the edge of the pool with a hand waving toward him. "Katsuki, now I have to change." She floundered around dramatically, making sure to sputter for her act. She could float the entire town with her tiny fingertips but couldn't figure out how to get out of a standard pool.
"I'm not surprised, he's a little grumpy." Todoroki squatted and reached out a hand to help her.
"I am NOT grumpy." Okay, maybe he was a little grumpy. "And don't help her! She can use her quirk to get out."
He was ignored. Shouto braced himself carefully along the edge of the pool. Katsuki rolled his eyes but stepped closer to save Shouto in case Ochako pulled him in too; Katsuki could not go through another Shouto showering fiasco before dinner. "What happened? We're going to be late to dinner now." Katsuki leveled Ochako with a stare of don't you dare lie, you bitch.
"I... I uh… Haha… So, I told him not to be jealous that his back wasn't getting broken." Ochako had her feet braced along the edge of the pool ready to be pulled up when Shouto paused, processing the information. He looked over his shoulder at Katsuki with eyes clearly questioning why he would want his back broken. How was he so hot and yet so fucking dense?
"She's talking about sex, Shouto."
Shouto just stared at Katsuki before slowly turning back to Ochako, who had realized that she had about three seconds to try and puppy dog eye her way out of the pool, grabbing his one hand with both of hers but it was not enough. Shouto stood quickly, releasing her back into the pool as Katsuki laughed at her wet screams. Which was how Izuku found them. "Do I want to know why my fiancée is floundering in the pool, fully dressed?"
"Nope," Katsuki spoke, purposefully popping the 'P' as Shouto calmly responded with, "I wouldn't advise it, no."
"Devils! Both of them! I am innocent!" Ochako managed as she swam to the ladder. Izuku moved to help her out, calling to the duo heading out the gate toward the beach. "Well, head on down to the beach, we'll catch up."
Katsuki rolled his eyes. "No, you won't. We'll bring the pizza back. Don't fuck in the pool!" A splash behind them let him know his warning would not be heeded. He was tempted to turn around but a cool hand slipped into his, taking his entire focus away. "Tch, whatever. Let's go. I'm starving."
"So you keep saying," Shouto smiled. Thumbs began their favorite activity of war. "Though, I've got to ask...Do you want your back broken?"
Sex. He is talking about sex. Fuck me. Katsuki impressed himself on how he didn't stutter in step or speech. "Funny how you think it would be mine." He lifted their tangled hands, lightly nipping the back of Shouto's and laughed as Shouto tripped over a step. "You want me so bad you're tripping over yourself."
"You're right, it definitely could be me," that wry grin was back, "but you're definitely the one that's gonna cry."
Katsuki tripped on his sandals.
$%^#^%$Shouto was about to give up on sleeping all together. He leaned upon his forearm to flip his pillow again for what felt like the millionth time since they came to bed. They. He looked over at the blond tuft of hair sticking out from under the covers on the other side of the bed. Katsuki hadn't moved at all, seeming to have fallen asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
The bastard. Shouto laid back down on his stomach, curling his arms under the pillow to try and find the sweet release of sleep.
They had grabbed dinner, Katsuki making sure to take his sweetest of times to eat, just to piss the couple back at the house off, and brought home the other's portions. The group had canceled the late-night booze cruise and threw on a movie instead. Shouto squeezed in beside Katsuki on the loveseat even though there was a clear space on the couch chaise. Their hands interlocked before the title screen had disappeared. By the end of the movie, Shouto had ended up snuggled against Katsuki chest, snoozing.
So why is it, after being carefully carried to bed, was he fidgeting so much? Left foot out of the covers, then back in, then right foot out of the covers twirled on top. Then fully covered. Then fluffing his pillow. Then flipping and huffing and starting the process all over again. Was it the temperature of the bed? Shouto thought about trying his quirk to regulate but he definitely didn't want to wake up Katsuki with a burning hand or an ice-cold one.
"Oi, the fuck is your problem?"
Shouto jolted, flipping over to see piercing, pissed eyes watching his every move. Damn, this is what he was hoping to avoid. "Sorry, I can't get comfortable. Did I wake you?"
"Of course you woke me. You probably woke the whole house," Katsuki bit back, before rolling back over. "Just get comfortable already."
What do you think I've been trying to do? Shouto glared at Katsuki's back before noticing that Katsuki was significantly closer than he previously was, and the covers were moving? Shouto slowly shifted closer, feeling sleep soothe his brain. Only when his knees docked behind Katsuki's did he understand that the movement was Katsuki's fingers waving around his waist, beckoning him forward.
Shouto linked their fingers, gasping when Katsuki pulled him the rest of the way forward, completely spooning him. "Took you long enough." Katsuki wiggled back, seeming to fit perfectly into Shouto's gaps.
"M'sorry," Shouto mumbled into Katsuki's hair. He kissed it before tightening his hold. "Thanks," he hoped he said as he fell swiftly to sleep.
$%^#^%$Katsuki was hoping after he finally got Shouto to soothe and sleep, they would be able to sleep in but it always took Katsuki a few days to make his body aware of early mornings. He slowly removed Shouto's arms from around his middle, adding a pillow into the space he was leaving. He stalled, pushing Shouto's hair from his peaceful face. Shouto had always been a pretty boy, sending Katsuki into daydreams far too often during school and even now during professional meetings. He lightly traced the scar with his fingers before leaning down to kiss it. "Beautiful, Shou. Always so beautiful," he whispered, before turning his face away to grimace. What kind of soft-ass shit is he spouting? He froze as Shouto burrowed his face into the pillow, smiling. Fuck, he was really in love.
Air, maybe some air will clear his head.
Katsuki groaned at the sight of Deku already on the balcony deck, because of fucking course he was. "How is it you bring your girl and you still manage to be around and bother the piss out of me?"
"Call it intuition," Izuku laughed, voice still unusually deep. "Don't worry I won't be here long." He nodded toward the glass door behind Katsuki. "The coffee will wake Ochako up soon and I'll go tend to her."
"Tend to her? Jesus, you aren't even married yet and you're whipped like a fucking mutt."
"Whipped? Is it wrong to want to pamper and take care of someone you love?" Katsuki hated that look on Deku's face. Fucking sly as a fox when he wanted to be. "Oh, but I guess you wouldn't know anything about that since you and Shouto keep playing the 'favors game'. And you call us disgusting." Call it lack of sleep, or exhaustion from the back and forth, but Katsuki couldn't find any response as he looked straight ahead to the sun peeking over the horizon.
"Kacchan, I was joking. You can do whatever you want. I didn't mean—"
"Shut up, okay? You're right. We do keep playing this stupid game and I'm so fucking tired of it! Like fuck!" Katsuki hung his head, pulling at the longer hair at his crown. "I just don't know what to do, Deku. I don't know what he wants or whatever." To his credit, Izuku stayed quiet, letting Katsuki's words fall out of his mouth, through ground teeth and all. "It's like there's this weird door that might be locked or unlocked and I'm being a fucking coward in front of it. It's infuriating. It's stupid. It's…" He chewed on the word he didn't want to say. "I'm scared."
There he said it. Out in the open. Can't take it back. Katsuki Bakugou just said that he was scared of love, of his own free will.
And Izuku Fucking Midoriya was laughing at him. Katsuki turned quickly to go back inside when a hand grabbed his shoulder. "Wait wait wait. I'm sorry, Kacchan, I don't mean to laugh! It's just refreshing to see you finally experiencing what I felt a few years back."
"Refreshing?" Katsuki scoffed, pushing the scarred hand off him. "And don't lump us together. You were just being stupid." Everyone who knew Deku and Uravity knew they were meant to be together. They were not the same. Katsuki leaned onto the banister, trying to focus more on the sounds of the ocean than the uncomfortable knot in his chest.
"Aren't you?" Deku smirked back at him. "I'm not saying it's love, Kacchan. Only you can decide that. But what I am saying is it could be and you're wasting time by being afraid of it. At some point, you have to just say 'Plus Ultra' and try it." He bumped their elbows at his shitty joke but Katsuki wasn't quite ready to let go. Let any of his fears go.
"When…" Katsuki licked his lips, clearing his throat. He had to ask even if the answer wasn't what he wanted to hear. "When did you realize you deserved love? Her love?"
Those green eyes softened to a tint of understanding that still made Katsuki's hair stand on end. If middle school him, hell, high school him could see this moment now, he might have jumped into the ocean to never be seen or heard from again. But adult Katsuki needed this. "I'm not sure I have. But I realized that if I kept being afraid of her, of us, I was going to lose the chance to ever be us."
Katsuki glared at the sun as pinks and reds filled the sky. He didn't even have to process what the nerd said because it was exactly his fear. That every day Katsuki pushed Shouto away would be the last day Shouto and he could ever be. It was way too early to be that poetic. "When did you become the smart one?"
"Yeah, I'm not gonna answer that one," Izuku laughed a little too loud for the soft-colored morning. "Don't wanna wake up Chako with a broken jaw on day two of our vacation."
"Only you would be threatening to break jaws on the second day of our vacation," another gravelly voice joined them.
"Right?" Izuku shoved Katsuki into the banister before sidestepping a warning pop. "Save me, Shou!"
"Save you, my ass. Get back here you broccoli!" Katsuki swiped at him again, but very quickly was met with Shouto blocking his path. The patio door had clicked shut before Katsuki could even attempt to get around the half-awake shirtless man. "Tch, whatever. I'll knock him around later." Katsuki leaned against the railing as his heartbeat quickened. Lose the chance to ever be us.
"Sure, sure," Shouto yawned. "What were you two discussing before sunrise? Did you sleep at all?"
"I slept enough," Katsuki shrugged, allowing Shouto to box him in. That seemed to be a thing with Shouto; bastards always liked to show off their minute height differences. "Hope we didn't wake you."
"The cold pillow in the place of a warm body woke me," Shouto whined. "Why did you leave?"
"Too much on my mind…" Katsuki mumbled, feeling a little too vulnerable so close to Shouto's face.
"Ah, sorry I'm in your space again," Shouto began shifting away but Katsuki knew if he didn't do this now he would waste another seven years.
"I'm clumsy."
Fuck that was NOT what he wanted to say. Shouto furrowed his brow as the heat crept to Katsuki's face.
"Um… sure?"
"And people in my space make me cringe," Katsuki tried again. Sadness edged into the confused eyes boring down on him. "So just ask me twice cause the first time is just… It's not… I just…" He scrubbed his hand down his face. "God fuck I suck at this. Look, I— mmmf!"
Shouto swallowed anything Katsuki was about to say. Katsuki sighed, relaxing as Shouto's tongue met his before pushing away. "No, wait! I need to say this. I'm tired of this thing we've been doing. I want to do it right." Katsuki resisted the urge to gag at how childish that sounded. "I want to be with you. Like seriously in a real relationship. But I'm going to fuck it up."
"You're rambling, Katsuki. Maybe I should call you Izuku."
Katsuki froze, all warm feelings leaving his body. "Forget it. I've completely changed my mind, you bastard."
Shouto laughed, pulling Katsuki back to him. "I agree with you. I want to be with you, Katsuki. Completely not just this every now and then stuff. We'll take it slow," he nudged Katsuki's nose, "and be patient with one another, right?"
"Patient my ass, I already told you I've changed my mind, Shouto." Katsuki's voice held no heat, how could it? Shouto just agreed with him; they both wanted this. Wanted them.
"Mmmhmm," was the murmured response as they kissed again, this time with no rush, even when the door slid open with Izuku announcing breakfast.
$%^#^%$"Get out of the kitchen if you aren't cooking!" Ochako yelled over her shoulder after catching another bottle of wine from crashing to the floor. Katsuki chuckled at her dismay trying to herd the drinking duo out of the work area. They had learned back in high school that Deku and Shouto were both useless in the cooking area from burnt breakfast rice to soggy birthday cakes. Katsuki tried to sneak a glance at Shouto, who was coaxing Izuku out onto the patio, but grey-blue eyes met him, giving a wink and a smile as heat rose to Katsuki's cheeks.
Today was… nice? The two couples had decided to explore the local shopping strips near the beach and for once it was actually two couples. Izuku and Ochako had mostly hung together while he and Shouto never left each other's side. Shouto had been persistent that if they were going to really try, it included his hands on Katsuki at all times. Which, if he was being honest, Katsuki thought it would've bugged the hell out of him. He couldn't stand when Mina or Denki hung off of him but Shouto… It was different.
They walked from store to store, booth to booth, Shouto moved his hands around to not get in the way of Katsuki's shopping but it only served to distract the blond more. Fingers danced on his waist, between his shoulder blades, massaging his neck and he'd be damned if Shouto didn't start using his quirk halfway through the day.
"Knock that shit off, stupid. We're in public," Katsuki hissed trying to cover a moan that kept bubbling. Goddamn him and his damned magic hands.
"Oh? And what am I doing?" Shouto's thumb pressed right into the knot behind his ear. "You looked like you were enjoying it."
Katsuki blushed, brushing off the hand from his neck. "I'm not." Shouto's hand hovered a moment before curling into a ball. "No wait, I mean I do." Katsuki felt his cheeks grow hotter as Shouto cocked his head. Like a damn puppy. "Just like. Not too much okay?"
And so it went. Things would happen and when the world didn't explode like Katsuki had been expecting it to, fearing it would, it sent him spinning. Even lunch, the shit show that it was, went pretty well. The group had decided on a local sandwich spot, which was fine, until Shouto yanked Katsuki, chair and all, as close as he could possibly get him. The scraping sound sent heads turning to look at the quartet and the velocity of the yank sent bits of Katsuki's sandwich hurling to the floor.
"Jesus fuck! Wha—"
"You're too far away," he responded like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Katsuki just stared in disbelief until scraping and a squeal from the opposite side of the table turned his attention. Izuku, eyes wide, was now significantly closer to Ochako than before.
"I agree with you Shou," Ochako smiled sweetly before diving back into her story about the upcycled glass thing or whatever she bought. And if the two of them were bothered by Shouto's arm around Katsuki's waist, or Katsuki leaning back into Shouto a little more than usual, they never showed it. It made Katsuki feel… Normal? Like this was normal. They were normal.
But still not normal enough to not knock elbows into cheeks or step on each other's toes in passing. Or fumbling words. Or the not-so-subtle looks at each other's lips.
"Holy crap, I forgot how annoying they can be when we're trying to cook," Ochako whined, filling up their wine glasses with the white they were using to cook.
"Ha! How could you forget the sugar salt fiasco from third year?" They both shuttered, thinking of the sugar ramen. "Speaking of, pass the salt."
As she gave him the grinder, she asked, "How's everything going?" He could've played dumb, but he thought back to all the moments throughout the day and decided to let her in.
"S'fine," Katuski tried to shrug it off, but her stupid face was suddenly in his. "Get your stupid face out of mine."
"What do you mean just fine? I thought it was going super well!" She backed out of his bubble, swirling her drink. "Lunch might have been my favorite."
"Yeah, yeah but it's still weird." Katsuki frowned into the simmering curry, thinking about why there's still this bubble caught in his throat. Fuck, his hand was shaking. "I don't know what I'm allowed to do… Or allowed to want."
"So ask."
"So ask," he mocked back. First Deku, and now her? "Easy for you to say Mrs. Future Midoriya who has everything under control," he grunted. "How the fuck your finger hasn't fallen off carrying around that asteroid is beyond me," Katsuki swore he went blind every time she waved her left hand in the sun. "Can see the damned thing from space."
"He did go Plus Ultra, didn't he?" She giggled, wiggling said finger. "But seriously. It's all trial and error. This is hella new territory for you and you're gonna be bad at shit. Terrible even. But then, one day, you won't be."
"Did you just say hella?"
"Hush it, buddy. I'm trying to give you some tips."
"Pffft, whatever Pink Cheeks. Get the serving dishes," he stirred a few more seconds before transferring the food into the dish she had brought over. "So any more tips, oh wise one."
"Actually yeah, tomorrow morning I suggest doing some yoga stretches. 'Cause, the absolute worst feeling is cramping throughout the next day."
Katsuki furrowed his brow allowing her to take the dish from him. "What in the hell—?"
"I'm talking about when you finally get fucked."
The explosion knocked the saved wine all over the floor.
$%^#^%$Shouto had just finished filling up the sink when the back door closed, but the entrant was not his partner in crime to wash up, but rather Katsuki.
"Seems unlike you to let Izuku skip out of clean-up duty?"
"Cheeks is wasted. Keeps blubbering about them not having time to practice for the wedding." Katsuki nodded toward the window above the sink. Outside they could see Izuku and Ochako dancing around the fire pit. "Stupid girl thinks that this is the perfect time to try and fix Izuku's two left feet." The words lacked all heat. "I can't believe we're like three months out. Seems like yesterday I was watching them trip over themselves in Aizawa's homeroom."
"Hard to imagine it's almost been a decade since we all met," Shouto replied, putting the rest of the dishes into the soapy water. "It's weird to think about, especially since most of us are finally happy."
He expected Katsuki to agree, or disagree, or something. But when he was met with silence, Shouto tipped his head back to see if Katsuki had even heard him. He felt movement behind him… "What is it?"
"Are you finally happy?" Shouto wiped his hands on the towel hanging on the oven, turning fully to take in his… whatever. Katsuki leaned against the island, arms crossed while nursing his wine glass with a guarded expression. Shouto mimicked him against the stove, raising his eyebrows.
"Come again?"
"Are. You. Finally. Happy."
Shouto cocked his head to the side. "I guess you can say I'm happy," he shrugged his shoulders, "I have the job I've always wanted. I have wonderful friends." He pushed off from the stove and began to stalk toward Katsuki. "I work at the highest paying agency in Japan with my two best friends, although one is stupid." Red eyes flashed with the heat of anger before simmering with something more. Something that made Shouto's blood feel too hot under his skin and spurred him on. "Brilliant on the field, a complete dunce off. Gorgeous and he knows it. Bit of a tease." Shouto reached Katsuki, pulling the glass out of his hand, and uncrossed his arms. "But so goddamn—"
"I swear to god if you call me stupid one more time,I'll—"
"Funny," Shouto smirked, looking down at Katsuki through hooded eyes, "I don't remember saying your name. Good to know you think you're–"
"Better watch that tongue of yours, Todoroki."
"Watch it for me, Bakugou."
The kiss wasn't as good as the other ones they have shared, but the smiles they both shared made it feel even more right as Katsuki led him down the hallway to their shared room.
$%^#^%$The second day in a row, Katsuki was met on the balcony by a person he did NOT want to see. But at least he was getting a view…
"Yaknow, when I see you like that, I understand why Deku is an ass man."
"You're such a pervert, Katsuki Bakugou," Ochako bristled, coming up from a forward fold down slowly. "But something's different about you today." She moved to a left forward lunge and patted the space beside her. "Come on, I just started."
Katsuki was about to argue more when he felt his lower back twinge. Damn him. He did a few light stretches before joining Ochako. He could feel those brown doe eyes just staring at him, distracting him from centering himself. "What."
"Can I have like thirty seconds to just freak out? Please?"
His eye twitched at the implication of a squealing. "You have until I move on to the next pose. Then after that, I don't wanna hear fucking shit."
"Oh my GOD! Finally! After all these years you two are finally together! And by the look of things, this isn't a one-time thing and oh my god Izuku is going to freak the fuck out!"
"Time's up, and watch your language!"
"That's rich coming from you."
"At least my cobra looks like a snake, yours looks like a limp noodle." Katsuki moved slowly to a prone position to nudge her, frowning when she didn't budge. As she curved her back, he pushed with more strength, fully toppling her.
"I swear, I hate you so much."
"Feeling's mutual, Uraraka."
$%^#^%$"They really never stop do they?" Shouto smiled as Izuku joined him near the living room french doors. "Here," Izuku passed him a cup of coffee as they both continued to watch their significant others stretch and bicker.
Their significant others. He and Katsuki, finally together. It was weird, like when the sun rose over a battlefield or a rainstorm after a drought. Shouto had been trying to place this calmness he felt; the best way he knew how to explain it was that the clutter was gone. This frenzy of emotions since he was a child had completely settled throughout his chest. He was just… Calm.
"You okay?" Izuku asked, pulling him from his thoughts. "Did everything go well last night?" Shouto's lip quirked up as Izuku's face began flushing. "Not... Not that I heard anything. I mean I did but not on purpose. I was just moving Ochako back into the room and you guys sounded like you were right by the door. And I just tried to move us as fast as possible —"
Shouto laughed as the stuttering Izuku finally mumbled into his coffee. "It's fine, aha. I was just thinking about how all this… Clutter? Noise? Extra stuff is gone. Like I feel soothed?" Shouto chewed the inside of his cheek trying to figure out a better way to describe it when it was Izuku's turn to laugh.
"Yeah, that's what happens when you allow yourself to be loved. It's crazy addicting. If you think too hard about it, you'll kick yourself for waiting too long." Izuku rubbed his chest and Shouto understood why Izuku understood. "So just accept it and enjoy it."
Enjoy it. He liked the sound of that. "When did you get to be the smart one?" Shouto asked.
Izuku laughed deeply, eerily similar to All-Might. "Ya'know, Kacchan asked me that same question yesterday and again, I am not answering that one,"
"Answering what?" The patio door slid open and Ochako, with Katsuki tailing her, entered the room. "What are we talking about?"
"How beautiful you are," Izuku responded with zero hesitation, with a smile that would have sent the presses wild. "Good morning, beautiful."
"You're too much." She giggled but walked into his embrace nonetheless. Izuku winked at Shouto before giving his full attention to the woman in his arms. Which reminded Shouto that he could do that too as he moved to the kitchen, where Katsuki had walked past to get something to drink.
"No good morning?"
"Tch. I already saw you this morning." Katsuki threw a knowing look over his shoulder. "Did you cum so hard you fucked your memory up?"
"Always so vulgar." Shouto blocked him in, against the counter. "I'd like to wish you a good morning," he let his fingers dance along the band of Katsuki's sweatpants. "Are you okay? Not sore?"
"S'fine. Sorry I just…" Katsuki looked away for a moment but Shouto just waited as ruby eyes flicked back to his. "You can wish me a good morning. It's fine, I just didn't want to bother you."
You didn't seem to mind bothering me earlier. But Shouto held his tongue, deciding to kiss Katsuki's cheek instead. "Good morning, sweetheart. Thank you." There was a little shuffling in the living room but Katsuki was too beautiful to look away from. Ears tipped in pink that matched the light dusting on his cheekbones. This man was finally his.
"Yeah yeah, morning to you too, pretty boy," Katsuki mumbled but bumped his nose against Shouto's instead of pulling away. "If you're going to do it right, then kiss me for real."
"We have an audience and I'm not in the mood to share." Shouto tilted his chin above Katsuki's shoulder. Katsuki turned slightly and revealed their two closest friends staring directly at them. Eavesdropping with their big innocent eyes and ears. Shouto dipped forward grazing Katsuki's ear, reveling in the shiver he felt. "Don't scorch the furniture."
"This ain't a show you perverted vultures. Get out!" Katsuki sent a few warning pops which had the other couple laughing their apologies down the hallway. "Fucking creeps… ah~" Shouto's hands reached down beneath the waistband to cup his ass, pulling Katsuki flush against him. Shouto captured Katsuki's lips making sure to give him a proper good morning.
"I want this good morning for the rest of my life," Katsuki mumbled against his lips. Shouto hummed his agreement.
The rest of our lives.
