The Beginnings of Dynavity
All Might takes the class to the top of the building to work on their recovery moves. But what happens when the Anti-Gravity hero is excluded due to her quirk.
She begs for Bakugou to take her on a ride through the sky.
A birthday gift for my Ray of Sunshine.
The class has to practice rebounding during a fall. Of course, Uravity can't participate because she floats, but All Might gives her a chance to do whatever she wants. She starts screaming for Bakugou to take her flying to which Bakugou is confused. The beginnings of love.
One shot:"Young Heroes! Over here!"
Even though they had seen war as first years, saved the basics of hero society, and managed to make it back to U. A. for a relatively normal second year so far, All Might still announced them in his trademark booming voice. Bakugou guessed deep down it was probably endearing or some shit but he just really wanted to go back to the dorms already.
After his sparring match against Midoriya and Todoroki yesterday, his shoulders had a dull ache in them anytime he used his quirk. Even the minor "leave me alone" bursts were causing tightness in his trap muscles which was just annoying at this point. It also didn't help that he slept in a super weird position last night and started the day off with Kaminari and Sero both rushing in his room. Something about hair gel and ties. Dumbasses.
"Sensei? What are we doing on the roof?" Ashido, another of his dumbass friends, called from the back of the group. All Might was standing
in front of the class near the edge of the 3 story building they found themselves on. Although in their normal gym clothes, the girls still squealed over the chill in the autumn air.
"We are here to train your recovery time. Specifically with falling." All Might leaned against the wall as he spoke. He was unable to shift into his power state anymore but somehow this form held the same attention and respect as the other one.
"Sometimes we find ourselves falling for many reasons. Maybe the villain landed an attack, someone is falling, maybe you are implementing a strategy. Either way, you have to learn how to recover with little downtime."
Bakugou rolled his shoulders along with his eyes. He knew how to recover with his quirk. A sudden pinch had him grimacing before he could school his face. Maybe he should work on recovering without his quirk.
"Uhh. But three stories is still high. I don't want to spend the weekend with the old lady," Mineta called out. Lazy ass worm actually had a point. Bakugou knew he and Sero would be fine. Kirishima would probably be fine. But Kaminari? Doubtful.
"That's why our lovely Uravity will be playing rescue hero today." Ah... That made sense. Bakugou glanced toward the back seeing those ugly white boots poking out from behind Shoji. The girls huddled behind him, using him as a windbreak.
"Ah. That's why she grabbed her boots. I was wondering," Kirishima spoke softly beside Bakugou. Bakugou grunted his reply as Uraraka shuffled to the front. She looked miserable; her gym jacket was zipped all the way to her chin, pants shoved into her boots, and hands under her armpits. Her bracers were in the way of her hands receiving any help from her pockets.
But her cheeks were a toasty pink. Pinker than usual. Not that he was paying extra attention to her.
Well, not currently. But lately, it had been weird. If her name came up in conversation, he would find himself freezing his endless scrolling on his phone or pausing his music to listen. If her laugh reached his ears, he would lift his chin enough to see her out of the corner of his eyes. Hell, even in the gym, he had started to intentionally pick machines closer to her.
It wasn't even that cold. Weirdo.
All Might finished explaining the exercise. They would fall off the building in various fashions, and try to recover to save themselves. The building had been modified with balconies, open windows, and a strangely placed pool to aid with the recoveries. After three successful or failed recoveries, they were free to go to the observation room to watch their tapes. Except Bakugou, Midoriya, and Todoroki, who had to watch their peers and provide live feedback. Something about learning more from peer to peer than a teacher. It would have been nice if the teachers had asked him first. Whatever, this was stupid.
"My job," Uraraka's voice was upbeat but serious. Bakugou appreciated how serious she was taking this. "Is to monitor how you're falling. If I feel like the fall will result in serious injury, I will save you. If you call out "Help, Uravity," or give any distress sign, I will also step in." She released her gravity jumping up on the wall and off the building. She was out of sight as they lined up with his crew of idiots in the center of the line.
Kaminari bumped into his shoulder and Bakugou grimaced again. Fuck it all, this might not be as easy as he thought.
$%^$^#^%It wasn't easy but it didn't suck. After doing his three recoveries in succession, Bakugou perched himself on the wall to watch the rest of the idiots fall to their deaths. He actually found himself enjoying giving feedback, if only because he was the best one doing it. Midoriya gave full-blown lectures while Todoroki gave the bare minimum; Bakugou's feedback was actually seeing results. Kirishima had been hardening too soon, Iida needed to blast his legs a moment later, and Mina needed to watch how Todoroki slid on his ice and mimic him with her acid.
He also enjoyed watching Uraraka. He thought she would have gotten bored or needed a break sooner, but she floated in front of the building actively encouraging her classmates. She didn't even need to stop to puke. She had to swoop in to save a few, like Kaminari who all but fell off the damn building with no idea how to save himself.
She shot her hookshot toward the balcony, swinging in to barely tap Kaminari's arm. The effect was immediate and like a dream. Kaminari was hurling toward the pool until suddenly he was floating. A whole-ass law of the universe reversed with a touch of five fingertips. Kaminari whined the entire way back up the building as Uraraka gently scolded him, but the effect was broken by her soft giggles.
By the time All Might had called for a break to hydrate themselves, her gym jacket had been opened with the sleeves to her elbows. Her hair had been thrown into a messy bun with a few pieces hovering. But her cheeks stayed that same damn shade of pink.
"Hey, Bakugou?" Her voice brought him out of his thoughts. She landed lightly on the wall beside him.
"What, Round Face?" he grunted. She was probably going to say some cheesy bit of encouragement or some shit. Instead, she fiddled with the bottom of her zipper, briefly meeting his eyes before darting off. His eyes narrowed as she began to sweat.
"Um… I was wondering… are you—"
"Ochako! Come get some juice!"
"Young Bakugou, come here for a moment."
Yaoyorozu called for Uraraka just as All Might called for Bakugou. He was about to tell them all to fuck off but she quickly muttered an apology before turning off to meet her friends. He stomped off toward All Might, Midoriya, and Todoroki.
"What did Uraraka want?" Midoriya asked. Always had to be in the know. Too bad Bakugou didn't actually have any
"None of your damn business."
"Probably asked him if that balcony hit hurt his head." Of course, Todoroki had to bring up that he had missed his first balcony grab, but he had recovered on the second platform. Uraraka seemed to have reached out for him but he would be damned if she had to come to his rescue.
"Do you wanna go, pretty boy? I will tear you a brand new as—"
"Now, now you three. What did you think of exercise?" All Might clapped both of their shoulders, causing Bakugou to grimace again. The falling had stretched out his arms a little but fuck, they still hurt.
"I think everyone is doing well considering the variety of skills. I worry about a few using only their quirks. I mean what happens if they get in a situation where they can't use their quirks. Like what if it's snowing, and Kacchan can't sweat to blast his way through…"
"Leave my name out of your mouth," Bakugou grunted. Yeah, they were "friends" or whatever, but it bugged the piss out of him when Deku used him as an example first. "What about IcyHot here? He skated his way down. Ya gonna harass him too?" Midoriya rolled his eyes which just pissed Bakugou off more.
"I feel bad for Uraraka," Todoroki interrupted. "She is doing the heavy work and seems bored with it."
"Ah, yes. She mentioned something about continuing with a partner? Miss Uraraka?" All Might called out for the anti-gravity hero. "Who did you want to pair with?"
She'd probably want Midoriya or Iida. Maybe Sero to swing with. But what would a partner do? The girl didn't make any sense…
"Bakugou!" His name came screaming out of her mouth. Everyone froze as she continued, "Oh my god! Bakugou! Please! Bakugou, Bakugou, Bakugou!" She was already on her way to rush over to him. Bakugou slowly turned toward her, eyes wide at the tone. It was desperate but excited, like he was the only one she ever needed. She slid to a stop beside him, grabbing his arm. "I chose Bakugou. Please!"
He felt the blush creep onto his cheeks as he just stared at this girl on his arm. A girl who was just screaming his name across the roof in front of all their classmates. A girl who was leaning too much on him.
"Haha. It's not up to me to decide. You should ask him!" All Might laughed. Uraraka grabbed both of Bakugou's hands, gripping them tightly.
"Oi what are you —"
"I wanna fly with you!" her eyes were so big and the fire behind them had turned from warm chocolate to a vibrant hazel.
"...what?" was his intelligent reply.
"Maybe you overused your quirk, Ocha? Bakubro can't fly."
"No, but we can! Think about it. What could you do if you had no weight? No residual backfire? I know you're favoring your left today so we don't have to do it more than once but... " Uraraka bit her lip, gripping his hands harder. "Please just once. I'll do whatever you want. You have to do this."
"I don't have to do anything. Get someone else to do it," he ripped his hands away from hers.
"No one else can do it! Think about it! Who has the power to propel us through the sky?"
Well, no one had the power to match Bakugou. He frowned harder. "What do you mean propel us?"
"Well, I would be on your back, eliminate our gravity, and you boom boom us around the sky." She said it like it was as common as waking up in the mornings, drinking water when you're thirsty, or flying around the sky.
"Don't say 'boom boom' referring to my quirk ever again."
"It seems like you've thought about this Miss Uraraka." Bakugou really didn't like the tone All Might used. He turned to glare at the older hero, unsurprised to see a sly look on his face. Uraraka unfortunately - or fortunately, Bakugou couldn't tell - was unaware of the implications. She jumped up on the wall looking toward the horizon.
"Of course I have!" She spread her arms wide. "My quirk defies the laws of physics but only part-way. I want to fly! To feel the rush of having no rules applying to me. To once just be free!" She clasped her arms behind her. "And I know if anyone can help me, it's Dynamight." She tipped her head back, big round eyes, pink cheeks, staring directly at Bakugou, like he held the secret key to unlock her world. Like he was her hero. No, like he could be her hero.
Well, shit. Bakugou felt his resolve break as she continued to blink at him. Fucking hell.
"Ugh. Fuck. Fine. But only once Uraraka! I don't wanna be…. Oof!" She lept off the wall, grabbing him around the neck. The momentum caused them to spin. Bakugou's hands found her waist as he tried to balance them. "Dammit get off of me, woman!"
She immediately dropped, clapping his shoulders. "Yes, okay! Let me get ready!"
She took a few steps away, and begun stripping her gear off. Bakugou opened his mouth to ask about the logistics when Sero and Kaminari dogpiled on him.
"Oh ho ho you hotshot! Holding out on us!"
"Why is it always the angry pomeranian types that get the pretty girls?"
Fucking elbows everywhere. "Get off of me before I blast you both off the damn building!" Bakugou prepared to do just that with the idiots when a strangled cry from behind him caught his attention. "Shut up Deku or you're…. Uh…"
Midoriya was not opposing the early demise of Pikachu and Tape Dispenser but rather the fact that after she took off her bracelets and boots, Uraraka had begun taking off her clothes. Her jacket was thrown on top of her support items, and had her shirt halfway off her body when the distressed noise stopped her.
"What in the hell do you think you're doing?!" First with the screaming of his name, then with the announcement that she had daydreamed about him and her flying through the air together, and now she was stripping. In front of the class and All Might and God.
"I have to be on your back, right next to your hands. I don't wanna get singed," Uraraka spoke like it was common knowledge. She finished pulling off her shirt, leaving her in just a sports bra, and began pulling off her pants. "You might wanna take your jacket off. Keep the boots on in case we have a rough landing."
Bakugou felt his face flush brightly, pushing Kaminari and Sero's faces a little harder into the ground before standing with his back toward her. "Fucking hell." He did as requested from the girl who managed to keep him on his toes ignoring the snickers from his friends.
"Are you sure you wanna do this?" Kirishima asked, holding onto his jacket. "You shouldn't be doing something if your head isn't clear."
"Who says my clear isn't head? Fucking crystal." Bakugou frowned slightly. Did he say that right? What did he say?
"Dude," Kirishima chuckled, "You can't even talk right. Although I can't blame you, I've hardly seen her like this." They both glanced over to where Uraraka was standing. She had stripped down to her sports bra and the tightest pair of shorts Bakugou had ever seen, and he had seen Aoyama on laundry day. She looked like she was discussing or arguing with her friends as she tied her hair up but the motion highlighted just how built she had gotten since first year. Clear muscles were beginning to form along her body and suddenly she wasn't this ex-middle schooler floaty space cadet.
Bakugou swallowed. His throat was dry and his hands were sweating. "Like what?" he muttered.
"Like you." Kirishima winked, pushing a bottle of juice in his hand. "Drink this before you embarrass yourself. Don't need you croaking before you kick the bucket."
"Your English sucks, Shitty Hair. Those mean the same thin— Hey!" He was being pulled toward the wall by his wrist. "What the hell? I was talking to him!"
"And now you're not." Uraraka shrugged with a teasing smile. "Besides, I think I'm way more fun to talk to dontcha think?"
Yes. "Tch."
They climbed up the wall, toes hanging off the edge. If this all sucked major ass, they would at least land in the pool and he wouldn't look like an ass for denying her. Bakugou glanced over at the girl beside him, feeling his hands shake a tad. Was this nerves? Adrenaline? Exhaustion? "You do know what you're doing right? You had Deku look over your shit?"
She turned to him with a smile that took up her entire face. He couldn't help but relax a little. Of course she had. She wasn't going to hurl them full speed off a building without checking her facts. She was in the top half of their class and was getting stronger and faster every day. Suddenly the shaking in his body turned into the welcome thrum of confidence.
"Nope!" Uraraka giggled, pushing him off the building.
He yelped at the sudden loss of the flat surface beneath his body spinning to grab anything to regain his balance. Which happened to be Uraraka's wrist yanking her off the building with him. He was going to murder her after they landed.
"Fucking hell!" He pulled her close to his body. He could at least cradle her from the crash of the pool. The cold water and her lack of clothes would probably send her into shock.
"Spin!" She called out, pushing against him. Her legs wrapped against his waist flipping his body around in the air so he was facing the pool. It was getting too close to fast. He growled at the pain shooting from his shoulders being woman-handled. His hands flickered to life as her lips grazed his ear, arms wrapping around his neck.
"Bombs away."
Time stood still in that moment. Bakugou felt his whole being light up as he felt the weight of the world disappear from his being, heat rushed from his core igniting down his arms. His hands sparked to life a gigantic blast angled down and behind him fish hooking them from the pool up into the sky. He felt none of the usual ache nor the sharp pain from his quirk as they climbed. He was flying. He was free.
Breathless giggles and a squeeze from strong thighs around his middle rushed awareness back into him. "Oh my god it worked! Look at us! Aha!" She unlaced her legs from around his front as he crested them five stories from the building. Thighs still locked on his waist, her ankles hooked above his ass freeing up her upper body. He couldn't see her but he could hear her. "You did it! Faster Bakugou!"
"Aye aye Captain," he hollered back over the wind. He lowered his blast to a steadying speed, zipping them around the sky using Uraraka's laughs and gasps as indicators of what she wanted. They zipped this way and that, he even tried a barrel roll, which made him laugh when she scrambled to hold on to him. Uraraka soon tapped his cheek pointing down toward the building where their classmates stood waving. She propped her chin on his shoulder to reach his ear; his body shivered as she spoke.
"Thank you Bakugou. You're my hero." Her lips brushed a spot underneath his ear.
And suddenly he forgot about his quirk. About everyone's quirk. About everyone. Later in the night he would be rolling around in his bed, calling himself stupid for developing a crush on the girl with the pink cheeks and round eyes but now? Now he was falling. And there wasn't anything he could do.
Minus the fact he was legitimately falling out of the sky, with said girl on his back, because when she kissed him, his brain stopped working along with his quirk.
"Fucking hell! Hold on!" He yelled back at her, as he began to maneuver them close enough to the roof to regain some semblance of grace. She flipped her legs back around solidly gripping him in the front. He would roll into his buddies and hopefully she'd land close enough for hers to stop her from too much damage. "When I stop, try and jump off right after giving my gravity. Aim for Deku!"
"Got it! Next time, we'll figure out how to land."
He smirked, kicking a foot out to brace for impact. Next time sounded fun. He stopped his explosions, giving a loud "Now!" and a silent prayer to the gods that this worked. His gravity returned to him at the same time he felt Uraraka push off from his back in the opposite direction. He heard commotion behind him and hoped it was those damned nerds doing their jobs keeping her safe as he aimed right for Kirishima, Sero, and Kaminari. All just staring at him like he had grown two heads. "Fuck, guys!" he yelled, kickstarting their brains.
Sero rolled out some tape quickly giving Kaminari the other end as they stretched it behind Kirishima. Kirishima hardened knowing Bakugou would aim an explosion forward trying to slow down his momentum. Unfortunately, Uraraka pushed off harder than Bakugou expected so he undershot his explosion. He hit Kirishima too hard, tumbling them backwards which made Sero and Kaminari lose their footing, knocking into one another. The four boys rolled in a chaotic ball of limbs and curses before they came to a screeching halt.
Bakugou opened his eyes, blinking at the pinkening sky. His stomach rolled as he groaned. Gravity was such a bitch.
"Yo dude, are you okay?"
"That was sick!"
"I think he's gonna be sick…."
Bakugou swatted off the hands of his friends, he pushed himself to his stomach looking up to find Uraraka. Uraraka was in slightly better shape than he was, with some bumps on her arms and legs, but she was also untangling herself from where he could only assume Midoriya, Todoroki, and Iida all tried to catch her. When their eyes locked, her pupils were blown as wide as his must have been, uncontrollable laughter took over him.
It had to be from the adrenaline of it all — actually flying through the air, being weightless, being with her. His entire body was shaking, he might have had tears falling from the corners of his eyes but he didn't care. He could hear her joining in with him and their friends soon after that. He was still chuckling when he managed to get back on his feet when All Might came running back over.
"Young Bakugou! Miss Uraraka!" All Might seemed a little out of breath. "I was worried I would have had to go get Cementoss to help you land." Bakugou looked around stretching out his shoulders noticing the significant lack of noisy classmates. "Since my rescue hero was flying through the sky with my student teacher, I had to postpone the rest of class."
Bakugou merely rolled his eyes knowing All Might was just putting on the air of a teacher. But Uraraka winced, bowing her head. "I'm sorry sir! I just… he was… we were…"
"We were coming up with some kickass moves for our duo. If anything you should be happy I've picked a partner." Although he absolutely only meant hero partners for class stuff, the kiss lingered in the back of his mind.
"Awh look at him growing up!" Kaminari cooed. Bakugou looked at him with a neutral expression before flicking the red bump on his forehead. "Ow! Ura get your partner!"
"Partners with Kacchan? It would work. She would level him out in most things but definitely trust him in the field. Though both of their suits would need to be altered to better fit together…." Midoriya started his analysis. Bakugou was about to flick him in the forehead or blast his face when he felt a tug on his pinky.
Uraraka was just staring at him, lips parted slightly with that expression again. Like he had the potential to hang the moon. Her moon. He shrugged answering her unspoken question.
Did you mean it? Partners?
Might as well.
Her smile was blinding, and yet he couldn't look away.
All Might's defeated sigh brought the two's attention back to him. "Fine but tomorrow. Now come on, let's go grab some dinner."
Everyone started to move toward the exit talking excitedly about dinner, the ending of class, and what moves Bakugou and Uraraka could come up with. Iida pointed out loudly that they would need a team name to register. He took a step to follow when he felt Uraraka move in the opposite direction. He watched her silently pick up her jacket and sit on the wall. She was worrying her lower lip but the corners were flicking up and down.
"What are you thinking about, Round face?" He hadn't meant to ask aloud but found himself moving towards her nonetheless.
"What happened to Captain?" She giggled. He shrugged again letting a smile work its way on his face too. "I wonder what it's like to fly in the sunset." She patted the space next to her. "But All Might said tomorrow so I guess I'll have to wait. What about you?"
He sat next to her on the wall, refusing to look at her. One more trip wouldn't hurt anyone. And it's not like it was Aizawa who said to go in.
"Bakugou? Hello?"
"Hey come on you guys! We need to go!" Sero was calling for them holding the door open. Uraraka pouted, slipping her jacket on when Bakugou shot his hand over her face.
"I'm thinking about payback, Captain."
He pushed her off the building, smiling at the laughing girl before falling off after her. One more trip into the sunset wouldn't hurt anyone.
$%^$^#^%"Do you see why I took off my clothes the first time? My jacket is ruined!"
"Not as ruined as my boots! Awh fuck that hurts like a bitch!"
The pair yelped when strengthened tape wrapped around them. Bakugou groaned realizing it was the capture scarf and Uraraka froze up.
"I thought All Might told you to go to dinner."
At least they had some more practice as the badass pair, Dynavity.
