The night was dark, a displeasing sort of darkness, the one that kind of made you want to turn around and act four years old again. A brisk wind swept around corners and cascaded oven bends, giving off a sort of diminishing eerie feeling. Only one light remained in existence that sorrowful night, a mystical gleam of a lone candle, a candle that belonged to two men in their twenties. And what were they doing on this dangerous night? Playing cards and smoking, of course!
"Bull-fucking-shit!" Nikki shrieked through drunken tones. Tommy flashed him his hand.
"You have GOT to be kidding me. I just lost $200?" he was taken aback. "That's my heroin money, no fuckin' way!"
Tommy laughed playfully. "Hand it over, poofy." Nikki shot him a death glare.
"Son of a bitch…" he muttered as he handed him the last of his money
"Ohhh, Nikki, you're always such a sore loser." Tommy flipped through his new pile of 5s and 10s.
"That's not my money you're taking. That's my life." He stared at him with temporary hatred.
"Fine, fine. You always badger me in to buying you something. What do you want?"
"A bottle of jack and a naked woman." Nikki smiled.
"Yeah, you wish. How about a roof over our heads?" Tommy pointed out. "We should lay off the dope for awhile and get someplace to live."
"Yeah, and somewhere to play." Nikki agreed. He and Tommy formed a band of nothing but drums and bass, but they were determined to find other talented musicians to perform with.
"It's getting late, and I'm wicked tired…" Tommy yawned.
"Well let me give you a little kiss and tuck you in.." Nikki teased him.
"Shut the fuck up." He rolled over and closed his eyes. It wasn't so cold if you were with someone else. Tommy felt something warm, embracing him. He opened his eyes and saw Nikki holding him close. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"
"Sorry… I'm sick of being alone." Nikki said regretfully.
"Well keep your homosexual thoughts to yourself or find somewhere else to sleep." He spat
"I am not homosexual! Stupid fuck… I'll find somewhere else to sleep and you can freeze your sorry ass off!" Nikki muttered and walked slowly away, taking the money. He shivered, wishing he had someone to hold and love him. He really was a softie once you got past his bad boy attitude and addiction. All he REALLY wanted was someone to love and care for, something he had never really had at any point in his life.
He walked down the dead streets of a dead city, desperately seeking a distressed woman to take advantage of. It was all he knew. A lonely child, a lonely teen, and beginning his life as a lonely man, it was most certainly not the way he wanted to finish his life or live it for that matter. Nikki sighed and curled up to sleep in an abandoned alleyway.
THE NEXT MORNING
Nikki woke up to Tommy curled up next to him. So he really did care for him… That felt comforting to Nikki in a strange way. They were such good friends, and he knew that nothing was ever going to tear them apart, no matter what. They just needed some women to take care of them and… give them a little long-awaited something.
