"This is ridiculous," Jack said, "It makes no sense. He isn't even on staff her anymore. He's a traitor."

"No, he was released because it was proven that he did nothing wrong. He thought he was following orders from the President."

"So, he's not a traitor, he's just an idiot. He still shouldn't be on a field mission."

"I would probably agree with you in most cases, but this is a special case. With so many of our analysts dead there isn't enough staff. Most of the people are just learning our protocols. Only Chloe and Spencer have the knowledge and ability to get the information."

"So why can't Chloe and I pose as husband and wife. She can download the information form their server."

"The information is spread out over two servers in the hotel you'll be staying at. They must be engaged within thirty seconds of each other or everything will shut down. Both of them need to be on the mission."

"So then…"

"Listen," Bill said in a stronger voice, "Chloe and Spencer will go on the mission posing as husband and wife. They will be going on a nice vacation with another couple, you and another female operative. You will make sure everything goes to plan. Now, I have details to deal with." Bill stood and left the room.

"Damn it," Jack began to curse as soon as Bill shut the door. He continued to yell and even punched the wall, finally causing Chloe to yell his name.

"I know you're upset Jack, but one of us needs to be calm and I don't think that it's going to be me."

Jack looked over and could see her trembling slightly.

"Hey," he said as he came to sit next to her, "I'm sorry. Everything will be all right."

"How? Jack, I'm posing as Spencer's wife. How is that going to be all right?"

Jack clenched his fist at the mention of Spencer's name, but then unclenched it and grabbed Chloe's hand. Shows of affection were few and far between in the office. They couldn't afford to get distracted, but he couldn't help it at this moment. He had to comfort her, "Okay, so that is bad, but I will be there with you the whole time. I won't let anything happen to you."

She smiled at him, her eyes full of absolute trust, "I know that," she said as if it were obvious, "It's being near Spencer. Having to be affectionate with him. I'm still embarrassed I fell for his idiot routine the first time."

"I told you not to fell bad about that. The guy was an idiot to treat you the way he did. He has no idea what he lost."

She smiled again and he had to smile back. Leaning closer he brushed her lips softly with his, "Don't worry about being affectionate with Spencer. He's going to be very clear on exactly how to behave. It will be nothing more than holding hands and a few kisses on the cheek in front of the hotel patrons."

She made a face, "Great. You know how I love public displays of affection."

Jack's smile was more seductive now, "I am very aware that you prefer indoor acts of affection." He leaned in and kissed her again and this time it lasted for several minutes. They broke apart as they heard a cough at the door. It was Bill, "Jack we found someone to pose as your wife."

"Who?"

"Audrey Raines"

Next to him he heard Chloe sigh. God, this plan really sucked.
