The parakeet
Harry Houdini was an escape artist who was born on march 24, 1874 and died October 31, 1926.
I wrote this story for Clairon.
"Murdock, you goof, come down from that roof! You wanna break your neck or something?"
"Sorry muchacho, didn't mean to scare you. Just trying to locate my parakeet."
"You got a parakeet?"
"Yes…. No…. Actually, I did, but it escaped."
"How come, forgot to lock the cage?"
"No, I taught him to open the locker by using a paperclip."
"What you wanna do that for?"
"Well, I figured once he got the hang of it, I could teach him to open the lock on the wards kitchen door, so whenever Thunder runs out of sugar cubes I could just take Houdini and let him unlock the door so I could fetch some."
"Houdini? You think it was wise to name it Houdini? I mean, isn't that asking for an escape attempt?"
"Guess you're right. Will you help me find it?"
"We can try, but I'm afraid it's useless. It could be on Hawaii for all we know."
"Hey, Face?"
"Yeah?"
"If we don't find it I can always get me a new one."
"I guess so, but you better not name it Houdini then."
"No, you're right. How about Harry?"
