Chapter One
It was a bright Saturday morning and Kismet, a young, green-haired youth of 16, was heading up to the biggest building in the entire city. Kismet lived on the continent of Delauraut, the second largest continent on the planet Gaia. Kismet was getting prepared to sign-up for the Gaian Armed Forces (GAF), one of the 7 largest factions of warriors on Gaia. He happily walked through the sliding doors and into the main hall where he gazed around at the glorious room. There we're many pictures of famous warriors, including the Treasure Hunter Kurorat Jio Clocks, the Computer Wizard, Hitoshi Kobe and his Fighting Program, Saati, the Marionette Tamer, Otaru, and The Mecha-Pilot, Lowe Gear, just to name a few. He looked up and saw the GAF's symbol painted on the roof, illuminating the floor below. The symbol was simple: a 7-pointed shuriken with a sword, an axe and a scythe behind it. He kept wandering around until he came up to the front desk.
"Excuse me ma'am," he asked the receptionist. The receptionist glanced over her book and stared at Kismet.
"Lemme' guess kid; You're hear to sign up for the openings into the D-Level Scrubs?" the receptionist replied in a smug voice.
"Uhh…yeah, actually," Kismet replied, stunned by her answer. "How'd you…"
"I'm not the receptionist here for nothing, kid," she finished for him. She turned to her G6 Computer and began to type furiously. Kismet looked at her, slightly stunned at how fast she worked. When she was done typing, she looked at him and asked, "Okay, what's your name?"
"Kismet…Kismet Kage," he said with confidence.
"Hrm…nice name," she mentioned as she continued to type furiously. "What's your affinity…your particular element? Or, should I say, 'Elements'?"
"Thunder and Air," he replied. She continued to type quickly.
"And your particular class?"
Kismet laughed. "Shield Master." She looked up at Kismet.
"A Shield Master? Haven't seen one of them in a while…" Kismet shrugged. "Okay, time to take your picture," she said cheerfully.
"Huh?" Kismet said confused as the receptionist took his picture of his confused face.
"Ahh…I love that part of the job," she chuckled as she did some more typing. Kismet had no idea what had just happened. She soon finished typing, let out a sigh, and turned to Kismet. "Okay, Kismet," she said as she handed him a PSP-esque device. "This is your Personal System Programmer. This bad devil will keep track of your stats, connect you to the Gaian Warriors Network, give you info on people you've met, allow you to communicate between your team members and your enemies, and is customizable to your specification. Really handy thing tool, that PSP is," she said with a smile. "Oh, one other thing. My name is Haruko. You'll probably see me later on, but if you need any help, I'll be right here."
"Thanks a million Haruko! Next time you see me, I'll be in the ranks of the GAF!" Kismet exclaimed as he headed through the back door to where his next challenge would await. As he ran off, Haruko mumbled to herself.
"Hmmm…a shield master, eh?"
