Sadly I don't own HON! Here's chapter 2! Enjoy! = )

Stark

No! How could this happen? I'll admit I like her a lot. Even if we rarely talked, let alone knew each other, but I never wanted this to happen. All this was going through my mind as I reached for her before she hit the pavement. A voice echos in my head, as I pick her up in my arms and started running. Everything happens for a reason, my child. Be patient, and all will be well.

Nyx, I thought, please, why did this have to happen? I don't know what I'll do if she rejects the change!

As if to emphasize my point, I gripped Zoey tighter as I run with her, trying to get her to the House of Night as quickly as possible. It was then I heard the first cough, and I felt my world shatter. I stopped instantly and looked down at Zoey. Her shirt was soaked with sweat and her face twisted with pain. Her body was wrenching with coughs, as she squirmed in my grasp, groaning in misery. Her body felt like it was on fire; it felt as if she was burning alive. But then she stopped moving. No! Oh, please, Goddess, no! I thought, frantically.

With a quick glance, she looked as though she was just sleeping. Her eyes were still closed, but hearing her whimper like a hurt puppy or dying human, made that allusion quickly disappear.

Stark, my child, look again. Does this not seem familiar? Nyx's voice whispered through my head. At first I didn't understand what she was talking about. The only time I've seen someone like this was when they were about to rejecting the change. Although I could easily recall my own marking, I hadn't gone through the same amount of pain that Zoey's in.

I looked down again, to see Zoey's sapphire crescent outline glowing, and then surprisingly turn into a filled in crescent. Intricate blue spirals cascaded down from her forehead to her high cheekbones, where they turn into curls which went down to her chin and neck. I'm left in awe. The stunning marking of our Goddess, Nyx, just added to Zoey's natural beauty. In the short time that I've been a fledgling, I had never seen anything as magnificent as this. And I had no freaking clue as to why this was happening.

It was then that her eyes finally fluttered open, looking badly bloodshot. "Put me down," She demanded weakly, but I did as I was told.

I set her on her feet, and to my surprise she didn't sway, not even the tiniest bit. "Why are you still here? Why didn't you run away like anyone else would?" She asked, sounded almost sad.

I took a deep breath, before proceeding to wipe the gunk off my forehead. "Because I'm a Marked too." Zoey gasped, seeing the outline of my crescent for the first time.

"Wow… it's… beautiful," she whispered. Moving her hand over my mark, she lightly touched it.

"We should get you to a mirror. You haven't seen anything yet." I replied, grabbing her hand and leading her to the House of Night.

It's pretty short compared to the rest. I hoped you like this. Please don't forget to review! ;D I like hearing your opinions and any constructive criticism that anyone has to offer. It only makes me a better writer.
