A/N I wrote this for 10 Days of DFO by dfoanthology on tumblr.
It was the first good snow of the year. It created a peaceful scene on UA's campus. The silent snowfall dampened the screams of excitable teens that ran about. Class 1-A, especially, was taking the chance to enjoy the new environment, some building forts, others going straight into the snowball fights to ensue. Izuku was taking the time to help Eri build a snowman for the first time. The two had just finished rolling the second ball of snow, and Izuku was carefully helping Eri lift it to place it upon the previous one.
"What next, Deku-san?" Izuku hummed in thought.
"Well, Eri-chan, remember how I told you to bring a bucket?" Eri nodded, grabbing the plastic bucket off the ground beside her. Izuku motioned her over, and lifted her higher. "Now, we put it on top of its head, and now it has a hat!" Eri dropped the bucket upside down on top, giggling as they stepped back to admire the snowman they built. Izuku set her down so she could take it in from every direction she wanted.
"It's amazing, Deku-san!" the girl exclaimed, a sparkle in her eye. She looked to Izuku with a large grin and asked, "Is there more we should make, or can we build another one?"
"Hmm, if I remember right, I think there was more we could do, if you'd like."
"Then let's get to it, Deku-san!" Eri dropped to the ground, already excitedly gathering snow for their next creation. Izuku laughed and joined her in the snow, getting ready to show her how to make a snow bunny next. The whole time, he kept thinking back on the one winter he spent playing in the snow with his father.
Izuku ran around, making footprints in the fresh snow. His father watched, laughing lowly at the eager child. Hisashi had promised that they could go out and play today, saying that he'd show Izuku the many different things he learned to make in the snow. He had made sure to grab a bucket that carried some of the things they could use, like sticks and a scarf.
"Izuku, come here. Let me show you some things now."
"Ok, papa!" The little boy ran back to his father, jumping in place when he got there. He hadn't gotten to play with Papa in a while, so with that and the snow, it was gearing up to be the best day ever.
"First, let me show you the snow bunny." Hisashi showed Izuku how to gather the snow into a small mound, less round like a snow ball, but more oval. From the bucket he procured two small leaves to make the ears and two red berries for the eyes. He had Izuku make his own, bringing out more leaves and berries. Proud of his work, Izuku held his own up to show Hisashi.
"Look, Papa! I did it!"
"You sure did, Izuku." Hisashi smiled warmly, patting his son's head. He carefully took the thing from Izuku and set it back on the ground. "Now, let's build some snow forts." And so it went.
The day was filled with the typical traditions of snow fun, some things Hisashi had picked up in America making it in as well. After the snow forts, they made snowballs and had a snowball "fight". Izuku, of course, was the winner. They made snow angels and snow men. Hisashi even pulled out a sled from somewhere, taking Izuku up the hill to slide back down. And when they had done everything, Izuku insisted on doing everything all over again until the sun set.
For Izuku, this really was the best day ever. He spent the whole day with his papa and got to play in the snow. What more could he want? For Hisashi, it was memory to treasure when he next missed his son while he was away.
Hisashi was pulled from his reminiscing by the sound of a speaker coming on. It's hard to know what brought the memory on, though he thinks it must be snowing now. It may be difficult to tell all the way down here, but in his many years, he's seen how people change with the coming of winter.
"All Might. What can I do for you today?"
"All for One."
"Come now, no need to be so cold. Tell me, what's the weather like today?"
