(Atlas.)

Merlot observed things from his airship, he turned only to look at both Watts and Mercury. Both of them were appearing by hologram… Tyrian and Hazel were already in town.

"I want to inform you that your mission is to sabotage Atlas and get me the relic… I will be in contact if you require anything…" Merlot got a nod before the duo blinked out.

He knew Watts wanted his Grimm for study. Tyrian was loyal only to the enjoyment of carnage, Hazel wanted to kill Ozpin who was in town… and Mercury just seemed to enjoy violence and fighting.

He was eager to see how his next experiment in Atlas would affect things.

"You should never have disregarded my research, Ozpin." The man grinned before pressing a button to send another group of Grimm to the tundra.

(Atlas Memorial Hospital)

Yang grunted as the nurse looked at the Atlesian Officer in shock before grabbing her scroll.

She instantly contacted Ruby, Qrow, and Skyler. Yang went to slowly pull herself out of bed before being stopped by the nurse.

"You've been unconscious for 4 days… you need to rest and avoid unnecessary trauma at the moment." The nurse stated, Yang groggily looked at the woman, she blinked for a moment.

(With Skyler and the others.)

Skyler stood with Qrow, Ironwood, and Ruby. The Ace Ops and Winter had boarded another Manta and Ironwood gave them orders to clear out the mines.

Skyler frowned at the idea that Yang had tried to get out of bed. The woman was stubborn more than anything… but it was that resolve that made her such a good Huntress.

"I think it's time you've all finally gotten a chance to relax and take a night off." Ironwood stated to the group as he looked on from his seat.

Skyler stopped pacing to turn to look at the commander of the Atlesian Military, wondering what his uncle was busy considering.

Skyler did want to rest, but it was to be AFTER he helped secure Mantle. Merlot had sent Grimm and his androids to Vale; Skyler had no idea what Merlot wanted.

He also had NO idea what Merlot's strength within Mantle was, how many troops they had to fight this enemy… and what Merlot's next move was.

Rest was the furthest thing from the Colonel's mind at the moment. he wanted to fight and would rest when he was sure Merlot was in a position of less power where he was easily more manageable.

"Hmm…" Skyler said nothing, too unsure what to say, both Ruby and Qrow noted he was still focused entirely on finding out Merlot's plan.

Qrow wanted to blame Skyler for his niece being harmed but was clear that Skyler went through hell to make sure she was ok. He also knew Yang decided to go on the mission for her reasons.

Skyler had ordered for him and Ruby to be picked up before he even ended the call with the nurse. This entirely fed into the idea that Skyler valued his relationship with Yang more than his position in the military.

It also helped that Skyler was willing to butt heads with Ironwood. Qrow knew how much Atlesian soldiers had almost worshiped like loyalty to their commander. Skyler wasn't someone who bowed easily to the chain of command.

"Something wrong, Colonel?" Skyler raised an eyebrow at the fact that his uncle referred to him at rank rather than name.

His uncle would always call him Skyler, as that was their way of showing they trusted each other.

Skyler silently pondered what to do next. he was glad at least he had the authority as an officer to handle resources in his ways.

This was still a match of strategy, not brute force like the Atlesian Army usually relied on to fight wars. he was going to fight it as a tactician, not a man with a Warhammer.

"Only questioning how Yang is doing. She's been out for a few days, and I've never seen her defeated so easy." Skyler stated, knowing his uncle was studying him as he was studying everyone.

Skyler turned away; he would talk with Yang after the others had. he wasn't her family, not yet at least… he would respect her family as much as he could. It would be better to come in and talk to Yang when she wasn't being worried by her family.

Skyler also wanted to reach out to other officers at the school, needing as many allies as possible if he was going to win the war for the city of Atlas…

Oh, he didn't want to draw this out, but it seemed he was going to have to have to fight tooth and nail for his kingdom.

Skyler seemed to be willing to suffer more than anyone for the kingdom when it came down to it.

Author Notes

Phew, another chapter is done! I want to point out that Skyler and Yang will be at odds sometime next episode. The next chapter will be in a week or so and will show Skyler and Yang at 'A night off.' Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
