Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of The Dragon and her rook. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.

(Atlas, during 'Worst Case Scenario'.)

Skyler watched as a Manta flew overhead. He sighed and checked his earpiece.

"Clover, are you and the Ace-Ops in position?" Skyler questioned while shaking his head back and forth.

Skyler knew damn well that catching Robyn would just result in more AK-200s being destroyed… His uncle was using the military for a pet project.

Skyler wanted to fight Merlot. He needed the military to fight back. Skyler looked around for Yang as he let out a breath.

He looked at the cold breath and waited for his answer.

"Yes, Colonel." Skyler heard before he closed his eyes. "We're in position. I have eyes on the convoy." Clover added while Skyler hummed and shut down the earpiece.

Skyler didn't care about hunting Robyn unless it helped save Mantle. These politics? This entire power struggle? It was ruining Mantle while Merlot was busy making moves left and right.

Skyler was a soldier; his place was on the battlefield. People were suffering and the people in charge of Atlas weren't doing anything.

"Yang, I'm sorry," Skyler stated before settling in. He knew that Merlot's army was still within Mantle.

(Alsius Academy)

General Ironwood looked at Qrow as the man stared at his old friend.

"You've been far too quiet, Qrow." Ironwood stated to the Branwen. Ironwood cleared his throat and rested his hands on the table.

"What are you playing at, Jimmy?" Qrow asked as he leaned back in his chair. "Your nephew isn't exactly supportive of this," Qrow added while looking out the window.

Qrow narrowed his eyes. He thought back to the fact that his niece was going to marry Ironwood's nephew. Qrow didn't know about Skyler, but he didn't want to make his niece mad.

"Are you talking about the operation to capture Robyn?" Ironwood asked while leaning forward. "Or my nephew's desire to marry your niece?" Ironwood questioned his old friend.

Both Huntsmen were quiet. They both knew their family was out in Mantle. That made both on edge.

"You've been busy trying to catch Robyn," Qrow said while crossing his arms. "And you've kept everyone out of the loop. Me, Ozpin, your nephew. The only people you've let in on your plans is Winter and that special strike team of yours." Qrow stated while tapping his finger on the table.

(With Skyler and Yang)

Skyler knew Yang and he had differing views on how best to help Mantle. She didn't believe in the military like him, and he respected that.

Still? Skyler worried about Yang since she lost her arm. Yang had been far more aggressive in combat. He looked at her and frowned before another Manta flew overhead.

"Sky?" Yang asked as she walked along the edge of the rooftop. Skyler raised an eyebrow nodded at her and leaped down from the ledge.

"Yeah?" Skyler asked Yang while brushing the sleet from his coat. He had forgotten how cold it was in Atlas. "What's up, firefly?" Skyler questioned and hummed while looking over the barren streets of Mantle.

"Is Mantle always like… This?" Yang asked, gesturing with her organic arm to the city around them.

"Sadly?" Skyler began while he looked at the city around him. "Yes, it's always been like this," Skyler said while observing a wrecked shop.

Skyler looked at Yang who frowned. He knew Mantle was much more downtrodden than Atlas. Despite Atlas being the capital and having the ability to fix up Mantle. They didn't, they let the city suffer.

"And you've seen it this bad before?" Yang questioned Skyler who sighed and shook his head.

"No, I've never seen it THIS bad," Skyler stated and crossed his arms while rubbing at his temples. The feeling of cold metal on his face snapped him out of his thoughts. "I don't know what the hell my uncle is doing. But I swear to god if he…" Skyler started to say before his scroll started to buzz left and right.

"Colonel, Robyn is moving towards the convoy! I repeat, Robyn Hill is converging on the convoy! All units, move in!" Clover yelled over the scroll.

Skyler was about to start giving orders before Yang flipped off the edge of the building. She fired a shot to slow herself down before rushing into the city.

Skyler sighed and went to rush after Yang.

"All units do not engage Happy Huntresses! All specialists to move in and set up a perimeter." Skyler ordered and slid to the ground, using his robotic arm to cushion the force of his descent.

Skyler didn't know why Yang was so eager to fight Robyn. He simply wanted to keep his fiancée safe.

He didn't know he'd be dueling his fiancée tonight. And Merlot would use it to his advantage.

"Yang, wait for reinforcements!" Skyler yelled as Yang rushed further through the ally.
