The frigid water
felt numb to me
As I let it undo
my bandages free.
The cold embraced me
like an old friend
Oh, how much I hope
this is the end.
The surface blurred
slow yet steady
As the river's depth
held me ready.
Colours started mixing
my eyes closed
Finally I was clutched
in Death's throes.
Dual-coloured irises
watched me as I woke
Another attempt thwarted
a new dawn broke.
Guess I'll have to put on
my carefully made facade
For I can't let them see
and provide me aid.
A small smile greeted
my saviour in grey
Told him my name
let's call it a day.
Maybe another world
I did succeed
And left this boy
one less good deed.
Guess not today.
